    I love it! Maybe use a brush on poly to seal it in. If Stanley were smart they would reach out to all of you artists and make some truly limited addition mugs.

    Even knowing from Instagram that it was eventually going to flake off, didn’t stop me from having so much hope when seeing how absolutely beautiful your painting is! I am so glad that you’re going to get to enjoy it for a little while although it does break my heart that it will slowly peel and flake away.
    On a happy note, when you showed examples of people who didn’t sand the Stanley first, some of them were using craft paint by deco art, it is pretty liquid, it’s going to have a texture closer to gouache than traditional acrylics. You may want to try those especially since they are pretty cheap.

    It was beautiful!! 🌺 You might find someone who could make a Stanley type cup with that lovely artwork on it in a manufactured way? It would not be the same as you painting individual cups in your own way, but they would definitely sell. And not break your back as much! 😄 You have a very cute pout! 🤗 If your kids used that pout on you, you might have had a hard time not giving in! 😉😂 I hope your journey is giving you great pleasure and enjoyment! 🙏

    It is soooo beautiful ❤. Not sure if watercolour requires sanding. Please do the video again when all the beauty has finally completely chipped off and sand first. It is so beautiful and I am glad that you are going to enjoy it while it lasts. However it makes another great video and quality content to watch you re-attempt this until you get the results that you expect and want. I might invest in all the guoche acrylic colours that you want fot this project and repaint with those 😊❤. I would love to see you guoche acrylic customizing many more of your things. It is truly beautiful and great content ❤❤❤. Thank you for this video. I had a rough day at the office 😊. This hit the spot.

    So sorry! I was afraid for you,when you sprayed it. I guess that wasn’t the problem. I sprayed my Christmas ornaments. Next day they had majorly faded( slightly disappeared). They were still pretty, but not like they were before I sprayed them. I also painted a couple of serving trays. I tried going back to acrylics( craft paint). Not good, sanded and tried painting ( watercolor) 9:43 on the white chalk paint. I was surprised how well it Worked. Maybe when you lose your painting, sand and try chalk paint(. May want to try a small board first🙃

    I love how it turned out. And I think the part you.missed is letting the poly cure. It can take days or weeks before it's fully cured. So if you fix the area you starched, re coat with the poly- 3 coats at least. And let fully cure for at least a few weeks, you might have better luck. Either way, it turned out beautiful!

    • @jenf8888
      @jenf8888 3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, it can take shorter time for it to dry tot he touch and for light use. Also, prep is everything- cleaning well before painting with dawn dish soap. And if there's still a problem, then you can make the unpaintable paintable by priming first. In this case, a clear shellac would be best to let the color of the cup show thru. There's a few brands you can use and I think even spray versions. And although I understand it's too much pressure for selling these, I know I'd buy one. 😊

Probably not the best color to decorate a water bottle with if you do a lot of, like... touching grass,😂 unless the formula has changed in the last decade. I've got a couple pieces that faded away to naught in naught point two seconds (not really, but it _was_ less than a year...and no I didn't frame them with UV glass, and yes, they were getting a lot of sun from an untreated window, but _still!_ ridiculous!) 😢

      @@KristyRicejust did some research. It appears that all the painted Stanley cups were done using acrylic paint of some sort and then after dried given a polyurethane coating. Since the outside of the cup has a plastic or acrylic coating, this makes sense as acrylic loves to stick to acrylic.
      Unfortunately, one can’t paint watercolor on acrylic as it can’t adhere.
      If you can clean off the outside of your cup, try using acrylic gouache to paint your design directly on the cup. Acrylic gouache is an acrylic paint so hopefully it will work. You will need to let it dry between layers.
      Hope that helps a bit! I haven’t tried this so I’m guessing as I’ve done acrylic paintings in the not so distant past.

      @@KristyRiceI think companies use enamel for durability. I use spray enamel when I want paint to stick well to metal and not much will adhere to it. It is similar to oil paint. Cleanup is with paint thinner. It is great in Altoids mint tins for super small watercolor palettes.
