Custom Painting a STANLEY CUP... er, tumbler...

- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
- Today I'm customizing a Stanley Cup! Not to be confused with the trophy! I guess it's a tumbler, or "thirst quencher," lol. Anyway, let's paint on this and come up with a cute design! I'll be using acrylic paint, and sealing it in afterward with Liquitex Satin Finish.
My husband spray seals all my stuff for me outside, as I don't want the fumes in my studio. Because of this, I do not film the process of sealing my drinkware. If you would like to see videos about sealing customized art, I would recommend searching on RUclips - I'm sure other artists film that part! :)

My mom used to paint those little wooden houses and hearts and sell them at craft fairs. I still have some around my house. ❤
I love that!!
@@MiraBylerOmg can you pls paint a Stanley the flamingo stanley I’ve been looking all over for it but their out of stock or either over $100, I was thinking of painting the color myself but I want someone to test it, by the way I don’t want you to like actually paint flamingos I want you to paint the color, Thank you 😊,from your fan.
The hearts added a more cozy feel in my opinion. The flowers and hearts are also an awesome way to use the space, but not crazy... Basically what you said at the end. :)
You did a phenomenal job. You'll always have our support no matter what.
I LOVE this folksy type style of painting. You make it look so easy. I cannot make the same size of anything to have consistency. Perhaps related to I am unable to cut or draw a straight line. But I digress! Thank you for reminding me to keep trying, even if for my own pleasure. I am happy that you are incharge of your own merchandise. Please show us what is available any time!!😊
Whenever I do flowerpeddels, it never ever works out. Too big of a hole, but too little space for a peddel, or a way too big peddel. I'm so jelous at how Mira's somehow always work out!
@@SlothDaan Oh, I so understand!!! Mira does make all her painting look easy. I am still hoping that one day my right & left leaves, circles or anything will match with no gaping holes. And on we go! 🙄😉😊
Omg can you pls paint a Stanley the flamingo one, I’m trying to get one but their sold out or over $100 I was thinking of painting it myself but I want someone to test it out. Thank you 😊
I love buying things to customize. However I totally love watching you customize because I love your ideas and the way everything comes out. So I also like customizing vicariously through you.
the repeating patterns look really nice on the cup😀
I buy stuff all the time with the intention of painting it, but never do lol
I love it when you get all cottagecore/folkarty! This turned out lovely. And to answer your question, I have like 3 boxes full of stuff I got from the thrift store to makeover, lol (I like to sculpt on things). I doubt that I'll ever get to do all of those items, haha. I'm definitely a "could be a potential art piece thingie" hoarder. 😂
I think this is my fav custom cup you’ve done to date!!!! So beautiful ❤
I really want to start doing more folk artsy things after watching your videos! They are so charming. Also, to answer the question of the day. I tried spookifying some vintage prints I have in my house by turning the figures into ghosts and witches and adding pumpkins and all the Halloween-y stuff. I made photocopies and mounted them on mixed media board rather than destroy the originals, though. It was so much fun!
That sounds like a really cool idea 😊
The little wooden houses and hearts (and cats, for our family) not to mention all of the decor that had those simplified plant patterns with 3 dots, and little centerpieces made of twigs and dried flowers, and little faceless dolls that were only for decoration (much less creepy than it sounds), and of course all of it was pink and blue.
Clearly you've unlocked a core memory :D
I love this! The pattern is so cute too. ❤
The something extra really pulled this together so much omg ❤
Girl I’m such a big hockey fan it makes me so happy that you referenced Lord Stanley’s cup.
Hearts took it up a level! Beautiful as always!
Cute! Love the little daisies.
Answer of the day: I've gotten into painting on stuff over the past couple years through you and other arts & crafts youtubers 😊
It looks fantastic! The hearts are perfect with the flowers.
@MiraByler Make yourself a medium/large bean bag to nuzzle the mug or any other object that may roll to allow more stability when you're painting. Love watching you!
you did amazing!!! love the stanley so much, i wish i had that one!!!
In dire need of a Mira Byler video tonight. 😭😍
Haha, I was SO into the French country look in the 90s with creamy yellows, country blues, pine furniture and folk art. Now I'm into greens: sage, forest, moss... with a mix of antique and modern. I still love folk art, though.
Your cups turned out so cute! To answer your question, no, I don't really make over thrift items but I LOVE watching other people do it. Maybe this gives me the nudge to try it 😁
We have a very similar style!! So much of my house is forest, light sage, and modern/antique!! That’s so cool!
@@MiraByler That's awesome! I have lots of nature items too, such as twigs, bird nests, rocks and seashells.
6:11 absolutely!
It looks beautiful. My mum was right into quilting, folk art and soft dolls etc when I was younger. Everything was calico material, warm greens, warm reds and browns. This reminds me of that 😊 just different colours.
This is my favorite mug you have ever done❤❤❤❤❤❤
That came out super cute! I love to remake things too, I have done a few videos on it myself.
cup is Fabulas dear ,I have painted on usable things TV trays I have painted on old Tables giving them new life and old end Tables I love doing that , getting them from the Thrift store and fixing them up , I also have painted on driftwood that is really fun to and made some unique walking sticks and Talking sticks. I did a Fairy Table for My grandchildren they got involved and would tell me who they wanted on the Table , we had many meals at that table at my old place was so kool. I have also painted on containers to hold my art supplies and made containers to put gifts in in the past as well is so much Fun. love your work dear. right now I am making handmade Journals which is so much Fun and just started a RUclips Channel to do flip throughs and may be show some of My art will see just starting out so will see how it goes is a lot to learn about making videos .💖 love to you and your family
I love this cup so much, it's super cute! ❤
So cute. My mama didn't really have that decor, but I do! I love it, and I love your design.🌼
As a tattoo artist, the hardest part was making the transition from paper and canvas to the curved and unique compositions of the human body. Learning to draw from the shoulder rather than the wrist is a life saver!
This one’s my favorite!! You are so talented love itttt
Your design is lovely! The hearts, daisies, and the folk style make me think of American Girl’s Kirsten Larson!
I’ve customized some of the disposable Starbucks cups after I had seen a couple of your videos doing that. It was fun. I also painted my bedroom mirror frame.
Your so talented Mira :)
Oh, I think I will try doing this! I will use Posca pens/acrylic markers, though, plus I will decorate a cheaper version of the Stanley cup. 😊 Thanks for the inspiration, Mira! Your cup is so cute!! 🩵
Super cute!!❤ I'm always making things into other things, lol!
I would love to see you paint one of your mugs/tumblers with your blubble flys :)
The design turned out so fun, looks really good 🧡✨ I love to upcycle things, but I don't do it often enough. Maybe I should have a look at a second hand store and see if I find a fun project 😄
It came out cute!
I love it! I wish I had your talent!! So very pretty!
I love the design 🫶
I love this, great job!
Love your artwork!
I've never painted on something like a mug, but I have customised a tray and a notebook cover. And I've used little wooden cutting boards as a "canvas" for decoration, too. Haven't painted in a while, though
😂 I was so excited I thought you were going to paint the actual Stanley Cup 😂 (NHL)
Very cute!! 🤗😍 I hope you make one for your mom!! 💐 I wonder if those little wooden house are available to customize?? I've been watching your Starbucks cup makeovers. I think the lady would make a great mermaid queen either under the ocean or like the Little Mermaid on the rock with the waves crashing!! 🧜♀️
I’m just wondering how do you seal it all up after you paint? I love this idea of painting on cups ❤️
She says her husband 🦭 them. There's 'b roll' of him using a seslant spray outside. I have no recollection of which brand they use, though. I'm sorry if this whole comment is a waste of time.

this is so cute ❤❤❤❤❤
I love all your videos!
Beautiful
I love this video so so much. ❤
Answer of the day....or, night, as it's half past midnight here in the UK 😂
Yes I do buy things specially to customise them and sometimes I get stuff and then be like "ooooh I can paint on that!" 😂
Currently I am in the middle of customising my 'Wild' case. 'wild' is an eco friendly, refillable, recyclable deodorant subscription that comes originally with a metal case you put the refills in.
Remember forever ago when you first did a Hydroflask customisation with an underwater theme? Well that's what I'm attempting to do with my case 😊
Turned out berautifully=3 Thank you for an inspiration=)
You should turn this into a stickers for Stanley cups. So people can buy them and customize their own Stanley cups.
Fantastic, I bought a friend a travel cup I wanted to personalise it but don’t have the courage too. I love your Starbucks cups too.
Do you seal the paint after it’s complete?
I described the sealing process in the video description because I totally forgot to talk about it lol!
After painting your tumbler, did you seal it? If so, what product did you use?
Hey this looks lovely 🥰 what paints are these?
I don't buy things to revamp them, but that's mostly because I'm still working through my hoard of things rescued from the trash.
What is the outside surface? Plastic or a regular Stanley? Do you need to seal it?
I always want to revamp and upgrade functional and decorative items for my home, but I rarely get around to actually doing it. Which is unfortunate.
Love the cup it is a pretty color and love the way you customized it. you are a very talented lady. 11:30
Are you still able to wash these after painting?
Did you Sand the Cups earlier? And do you seal them? I plan on painting some as christmas gifts as well but i don't know how to prepare them properly so they last.
Aw that’s a great idea! You can either prime them or sand them. Totally up to you! And yes, a sealant is very important! I take mine outside to seal because it’s an aerosol and very fumey. Liquitex Satin sealant is my current fave, but I also like Krylon spray sealants. Lots of very thin coats, and tape off any part that would touch your mouth.💜
hi is MATTE FINISH SPRAY COATING safe to spray on a mug?
I think I have that shirt..lol did you get it at Target?
Haha, twins! I got it from the thrift store!
How do you protect it from chipping?
Do a give a way with them please 😊
Can the cup be washed does the paint not come off
I tried to paint on a few cups but for some reason I can peel the paint with sealing of the cup after 2 months of use. And when I tried sealing the paint the first time it smudged the paint. So yeah I like it but I just can't do it right maybe it's the sealant maybe it's me I don know .😢
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear this! What brand of sealant did you use?
I love the idea of this but isn't it very impractical because now you can not put it in the dishwasher or even properly scrub the outside? :/ Especially if you give them as a gift, wouldn't that be a bit sad? Is there special paint or lacquer you could use in the future?
Great question. Even if this isn’t painted, I would never ever put any kind of tumbler in the dishwasher. It ruins them faster. Always hand wash. If they are painted, you should use a very high quality paint. I used Golden Heavy Body Acrylic. If they are sealed properly they can last years. I have tumblers I painted three years ago that have never chipped because they have been sealed very well. My husband seals them for me when he’s taking other things outside to seal. We usually use Krylon spray sealants, or similar brands.
😅 I buy plain things that I intend to decorate, but never follow through.
I am just here to listen you talk 🥹💕
Hi :3
I want to be the kind of person who customized things, but I can never get the image in my head to turn out right.
You shoud diamond paint a stanley cup
