- Orleans is an American pop rock band best known for its hits "Dance with Me" (No. 6 in 1975); "Still the One" (No. 5), from the album Waking and Dreaming (1976); and "Love Takes Time" (No. 11 in 1979). The group's name evolved from the music it was playing at the time of their formation, which was inspired by Louisiana artists such as Allen Toussaint and the Neville Brothers. Orleans was formed in Woodstock, New York in January 1972 by vocalist/guitarist/songwriter John Hall, vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Larry Hoppen and drummer/percussionist Wells Kelly. In October of that year, the group expanded to include Larry's younger brother, Lance, on bass. Drummer Jerry Marotta joined in 1976, completing the quintet.

This is my favourite song by this fabulous band. They have inspired me as a musician since their first big hit " Dance with me " . I miss Larry Hoppen, he had the most wonderful soulful voice and his brother Lance does this justice in his memory. The whole band are such great musicians, long may they continue ! x

I can't believe the original singer, Larry Hoppen, is dead 😢 & that this is his own brother Lance Hoppen singing! Does anyone realize how high a part this is for a guy to sing? And it's so rare to find a singer who's this age & can still hit those notes--WOW! Apparently, vocal talent runs in the Hoppen family. Lance, you did your brother proud! I adore this group! They all still sound soooo good!❤

Memories of a summer in 1979 at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh and listening to "Orleans" during batting practice. Six weeks later the Pirates would be World Series Champions.
I was at a baseball game too in Veterans Stadium in Philly vs the LA Dodgers with special performance by Pat Benatar
