- This episode is from my quick stopover in South Africa. This time I was only transiting through Johannesburg to do some maintenance on my bike, and I finally reviled my new Arai Tour X-4 helmet painted by Jenna Philippe (www.a-moto.com). Jenna put so much time and effort into designing this incredible helmet. Every detail on the helmet is a symbol of my life on the road and my future and past adventures. Personally, I think this is a piece of art.

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
Throughout my journey, I was raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. That helmet really is unique, a real one off, lucky you to meet someone who could do that, it’s given me ideas but finding an artist who could do it might be a little more difficult. Look forward to seeing how Mozambique treats you, one week doesn’t sound long enough.

Amazing helmet.. AND it keeps your hair from blowing away. Great ride covering a lot of ground quickly for a change. One can feel how you are about to metamorphose into another scene... and another layer of your self. Growth rings. Great stuff. Happy to be along for the ride. Covid testing... Yikes.

I did that trip from Joburg to that border then on to Lorenzomarks/ Maputo 50 years ago, natives carving masks on the side of the road in Mozambique, how things have changed .
