- Hi guys! V8 Showdown is back again this week! Team Vicky reassembles their valvetrain while I get into the carburetor, and Team Studebaker is going to convert the 1958 Commander to a stickshift, using the bits from a 1957 that I've had forever... The 1937 Chevy Master is looking good with the running board trim fixed up and a very special gift installed, and Dean shows around the latest inventory at Fliptown!
Thanks so much everyone who ordered a "Model T Shirt"! They are being printed now and will be in the mail as soon as they are done... I can't wait to get mine!
Oh! I do not have a Telegram account or any bullshit contest going! Do not respond to any of these "contest winner" replies; they are a scam.

Scott, I used to get my rubber parts from Chevs of the 40’s. They only sell the rubber portions but…are not cheap. Like $475 for the pair.
The tone of the 'Even by the standards of flip town this is a piece of sh*t' was just gold standard delivery.
Smells like home -
Beer was shooting out of my nose!
Scott sounded genuinely disgusted 😂
WOW 😲 and I will say no more.
I am soooo glad Jonathan W found the Canadian translation of that book for 'yall...🙃
I sure hope you guys include a calendar pic of Ashley's Boogie Van. Scott you did such an over the top paint job on that van. I still drool over it when I think about it. When you finished that van and did the reveal you became a paint God in my book! There are very few people who could have done such a high quality paint scheme like that. I hope some of the subscribers agree with me. Lol.
Scott, the '37 Chevy is an absolute stunner! A well deserved attaboy to you and all the assisting agents.
Very impressive, this upload… Can we just take a moment to appreciate Myles Crane throwing the trans up onto the fender?! Goodness gracious
Sad to see that nice VW Bug get wrecked in the opening scene. Hope everyone was OK.
Hit in the back is always bad
I was expecting the Lil' Red Express to slip out of park and drift into the back of that Dodge Van
Glad to see the hood ornament is finally where it deserves to be. If you remember, I found it mounted to a shelf bookend. Its condition was so good because it was kept inside. Definitely too good to pass up. BTW it looks great on your car. Can't wait to order a calendar (or 2).
Hey Phil! Thanks again; what a lovely piece, and really finished off the Chevy! I am very excited about the calendar project; James is an excellent photographer, and the previews I've seen look just stunning! Cheers from me and Frankers and the Agents...
The hood ornament looks fantastic on the Chev. A very kind donation to CWM. Cheers from the UK.
LOL!!! That opening sequence is fantastic!! Especially LOVE the ESSO station!
Yeah, but NO GAS! true 70's revival
Glad you enjoyed it! We were very happy with how it turned out...
10:56 - Thanks, Phil D for providing the missing hood ornament. Not just Scott and friends, but thousands of us viewers get to enjoy seeing a hood ornament rather than a coupla screwholes.
I found it just after Scott bought the car. Lucky coincidence.
Yeah! What an amazing donation! Cheers...
If there’s a super hero in CWM it’s Miles 👍
Love the show guys!
When I grow up I wanna be just like Myles! Insert the muscle emoji here, I dunno how to!
The blue interior of that Regal was the worst thing I've ever seen.
Kids, don't do meth.
You ,made my day, and, I’m sure, Johnathan’s too. Great men. Cheers and thanx.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another great show, the intros are getting better and more detailed. Very cool! Also enjoy the back and forth between you guys and Johnathan.
Frankers is such a good girl. She is so happy to go for a ride in the car.
That 37 Chev is a real beauty. It's always great to see a Tractor Gnome cameo. Cheers from a shed in Iowa
Have Gnome will travel...🚜
Hey Randahl! Cheers from me and the Menace!
Hello from Memphis. That old Chevy is a sweet old girl and I hope she's around for another three or four generations
The amount of text on the all the dash controls of Dean's Marquis flip is typical of American cars of the 1970s and 80s. I don't think that people today have the attention span to read that many words.
Opening animation was brilliant. Even had the period correct 'No gas' handwritten sign outside the Esso station.
Thanks for another great show.
Hey glad you enjoyed it! We definitely had fun with this week's episode!
Dean: "Ooddles of swap-meet parts that I got for you guys. That's actually true."
Love that Chevy,it's now a stunning car. Didn't realise that despite the yearly bodywork updates that the cars drew so heavily from the same parts bin. To be able to assemble a parts kit for manual conversion is awsome! Looking forward to seeing the cars run! Best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧
Dean is upping his game. We can all laugh at him now, this is an entrepreneur destined to be the next billionaire. I just hope when he makes it he doesn't forget his roots, his friends and family and where he comes from.
Nothing like getting one's ball's busted by JonathanW...and I bet he was smiling on the outside to...this is great. Been subscribed to both for years!
Always thought a confab would be great, and it is!
I like how Dean's sunglasses had only one temple.
This was another great week. After Thursday’s video I binge watched Kyle at Carter’s Auto Restyling. Kyle talking about the Cold War Motors auto dealership and it’s shenanigans just killed me and I couldn’t stop laughing.
I just can’t wait for the showdown. It should be hilarious. Also great seeing Dean’s Greasy Flips once again. The ‘38 is a gorgeous calendar girl. 👍Scott. Glad I am able to be a patron. Well worth it.
Hey glad you enjoyed it! Kyle is hilarious; I'm so glad I got to meet him last year... Thanks so much for being one of the kind people who keep us on the air!
Another super episode, Scott. Dean is especially well lubricated this time around. Hope y’all didn’t scratch the paint on the Studebaker removing the transmission. Love the V8 challenge. Ciao!
I love that the episode ends with an Aston Martin. "Now for something completely different."
I love watching you guys turning wrenches. And I seriously wish I had a neighbour like Tom. He's priceless! One of these days I'll send 'ya a box with workshop manuals I've collected over the years. I'm soon to be 75 and have no use for them enymore. Turning the Stude to a three shift manual was a surprise to me, but was a "must". Cheers guys, I salute you. Take it easy on the "shit", things might happen on your way home. The 37 Chevy is a Diamond. Pet Frankers for me.
Ps I put 50 bucks on the Stude..😂
Tom and Dean are Canadian national treasures
The triumphant return of Tractor Gnome
* Hands down the best Greasy Flip segment in 3/364ths of a millennium ! 🤭 If Scott is the subscriber named Tractor Gnome then Tom should be the Angry Leprechaun ! He'd look great doing a Jig while swearing like a drunken sailor ! Same Ol' Shit ! V8 challenge is way involved this year. Thanks Myles for the help. Justin is bringing the drive along nicely. 👊😎👍
This channel never ceases to put a smile on my face. That Chevy is tremendous and the ornament with the running boards just makes it that much better. I loved Dean's Greasy Flips. Your running commentary is just wicked funny. Yes, I bought his beer cozies. They really do help keep the beer cold. Justin did a really nice job on the parking area. The icing on the cake is Jonathan W sending you that book. That is the best. You guys are my guilty pleasure at lunch time during work. I'm still rooting for team Studebaker in the V8 Challenge.
I drove a ‘74 Mercury Grand Marquis for a year or so…man, what a giant boat! Battleship grey with grey leather it was like goin down the road on your couch.
Tell Dean he has a doppelganger down here in the states. My ex wife's father is Dean's 15 year older twin. Same looks, mannerisms, voice. Crazy stuff!
I am shocked how good the metal is under the running boards. Very nice.
So was i. Car hasn't seen much salt..no salt.
I would be inclined to remove the rubber material on the running board cover and spray on some bed-liner coating--or would that be a bit crude on an otherwise near mint Chevy?@@LarsonFamilyFarm-LLC
You would be going out farther away from "original"...that's something better suited to a 1989 GMC truck's bed liner@@gymshoe8862
@@LarsonFamilyFarm-LLC That's because it came from Washington State, whether, west side or east side, don't know. When Scott bought it from Matt Strong at Strong's Garage, it had old Washington plates on it.
I would do it because I’m an idiot who builds rat rods. Actually no, only on a car that is in way worse condition than Scott’s 37
That 37 looks like it would have in the late 40’s as a gently used car that sat outside at work and aged the paint. Amazing time capsule! So glad to go for a cruise with you in it. Thanks for taking the time to bring us along every week. Like the others on here I am jealous of your skills, your friends, and your lifestyle! Your a real rockstar Scott!
Flathead is looking great. Study is coming along as well. The body work was a real treat. 🤣👍
No kidding story, I was stationed at Davis Montana Air Force Base with a Mike Dean, him and Dean are so much alike, he was a country bumpkin🤣😂🤣Quick story, we worked for a 3 star general, he was driven all over base in a leased car, by the gov of course, when time came to swap it out, Dean made a deal, bought it (low miles) from the agency, broufght it back to the headquarters and sold it same day foe 3 times the price he paid the economy of flip!
"Dean's Greasy Flips" was a knock-out!!
Glad you enjoyed the Flips!
*Grand Mar-kiss this one goodbye!*
At almost 24 MILLION views, CWM continues to be the best little car-ho house on YT!
I believe Fliptown would probably be an EPA Superfund site iffin it were in the lower 48....
so things could be worse, is what I'm sayin'. That cars' blue "interior" alone would qualify.
This being my own 62 year birthmark above dirt today, I can state that all my own tying up loose ends
efforts are now completed; there will be no mess left behind. I came into this world clean and
that's how I hope to leave, so I got that going for me - which is nice, if not a bit melancholy.
Looking forward to the shirt and the calendar - and to more CWM fans becoming SPONSORS!
Y'all be safe up there,
- Ed on the Ridge
I'm still cheering for Team Studebaker.
Best Wishes to everyone at Cold War Motors.
Just dump the old trans back in the
weeds, I'd do it. Should basically be
the same as a cast-iron FordoMatic.
Manually shift to low upon launching, as the V-8 version normally starts in 2nd, unless FLOORED!
Scott, I don't know how you kept from laughing at Dean, when he was wearing his Aunt's broken sunglasses. I got a kick out of him.
It wasn't easy!
Dean's Greasy Flips had some classics today. Nothing like a brush painted body with rattle can blue interior. I think Tom is really looking forward to seeing the V8s running.
It amazes me how good the paint color looks from 1937. Not being from that time you figure black, white, dark blue and maybe a solid dark to medium green. Maroon was also popular. Just Solid shades without much shine. This tan is almost metallic looking. Almost good looking.
Gold is a hard color to pull off looking good.
It shows me how advanced they were with their color technology.
Now I wonder how beautiful these cars were when new? Must have been more beautiful colors than what we commonly see on old car restorations.
Deans field of dreams beer and spliffs is back
Wow I'm so amazed that the 37 chevy is looking this good! You did a heck of a job on it!
The opening sketches are getting more elaborate! What fun!!
Now all we we need is some figures dodging the mayhem!😆
@@glennnickerson8438.......claymation ??
Ha!@@glennnickerson8438
Wow sound effects and all in the intro. I love the No Gas sign and 0.00 for the price. People were still driving around though.
These introductions are like the Twilight Zone. There are no people anywhere to be seen. The cars drive themselves.
Dean's Greasy Flips Summer Blow Out! Lol
“It ain’t happening on my watch” 😂😂😂
Dean is the Broderick Crawford of our times.
Broderick Crawford or Foster Brooks or an amalgam of both?😆
I've always thought Dom Delouise.
Dean is a Canadian national treasure
Tom is ready for anything, he’s got belt and suspenders 😅
The Chevy just keeps on impressing, and although they were less than perfect the running boards do look good and complement the rest of the car, now complete with a fine bonnet ornament. The old tractor has been a sound investment, edging out Toms little JD when there are movements to be made. The new drive and forecourt looking good too. Its all coming together, and leading up to the V8 showdown. Both cars are really coming on and in a contrast to Dean's summer bargains look worth investing in!
Looking forward to Thursday. Greetings from Pennsylvania. ❤✌️👍😎
Three speed swap, Team Vicky's in trouble! I found myself biting my nails as you and Myles hoisted the slushbox over the fender... "don't crack all that sweet filler!"
The shot of you pulling the ‘57 with the tractor reminded me of a cheesy claymation bit I saw somewhere on RUclips this week…..always a pleasure watching you and the agents get together, and I hope you’re taking a couple years worth of pics for the calendar - sign me up! Cheers, see you Thursday!
That greasy flip in Dean's yard is the worst car I have ever seen other than crushed ones Hahahahahahaha Who rattle can(s) that blue inside ??? W H O A !
I can understand Dean's psychology he played on us. Show the Regal 2nd and it will make the burnt 59 Ford look that much better.
That was one of the best mini cars intros yet
There probably aren't many of the original running board covers left. Maybe the company didn't even have an original reference. Would be interesting to see how they did it originally
Did I hear a hoist? You will wonder why you waited so long to get one. Great videos!
The old Chevy is looking great! Good move on converting the Stude to a MT. Got a flywheel for it? Great episode! I'm buying some Old Milwaukee beer stock. We can use the profits from all the beer drinking there running the stock up to put back in the show! Lol
Hi guys!!! Love the '37!! Frankers gives it lots of class!!
That old Stude slush box is a real boat anchor. I think Myles can attest to that.
Those vw's in the beatiful opening scene all sound as if they had an ls swap!
Oh! I dubbed in sounds from VW beetles being driven in other YT videos...Cheers!
Just got back online after a few weeks off. Been looking forward to the best show on the internet.
dean selling us coozies he don't use lol brilliant!!
nice fix up on the yard. what a great show gotta love the deans good cars to have. thanks for some real fun. cheers guys.
Hi Scott Great work on the 51 Ford engine. I can't wait to see both cars up and running around your neighbourhood. I love one of your agent's car, '69 Ford Torono. I'm been busy helping other military retirees. I still work on other classic cars here in Brooklyn, New York. Please stay safe and my best wishes to the other agents and family. Cheers!
Triple Dove Or Nothing - Bumper stickers will be issued!!
Had to laugh, couldn't help thinking that Dean asleep next to the beer was about 2 steps down from Kurt Russell in used cars - at least he wasn't afraid of the red Edsel!
Glad at least your gonna keep the Twin Traction out of that driveline.
Driveway/lot looking good, glad to see Tom playing cheerleader for a change!!
And Kyle!! I'm beginning to think he was the creator of clay-mation movies in a past life. Tho I DID love a couple episodes ago, the 440 cracking all 4 open at the Diplomat.
Cheers all - Hammer it team Stude!!
I don't know if you'll see Dean before next week, but I saw something very interesting and a good sales' ploy for junk cars. Kyle, from Carter's Auto-restyling went shopping in a junk yard for some potential "prize". All the junk he saw (we saw also) looked fairly decent compared to junk of other junk yards everyone sees around their home town or even on YT.
What made it look so good ? Every one of those old Junked cars and trucks were on inflated tires. Not one was deflated. If Dean copied that idea by maintaining inflated tires on all his "Greasy flips" I'd bet he'd sell more than 3 or 4 in a 3 year period. Even if he had to borrow a spare tire from here and there or insert a tube where needed, it would enhance his junkyard (er... car lot) 1000%
Noble accomplishments here by all; the ‘37 Chev’s finishing touches in its glory; the driveway; ongoing progress on the Vicky and the Studie (which presented the value of having a parts car for a auto-to-manual conversion); and Tom’s oversight of the parking order @ CWM. I’m a little worried about Dean though, and hope he didn’t fork over his hard earned loonies for that POS Regal and instead got paid for hauling it off. Maybe a 12-Step program for spurning lost cause hulks would be an antidote for his obvious weakness. Nah then, that’s just Dean😂
Your moving traffic intros are just fascinating. I love them. Cheers. I have that same blue Plymouth sedan that rear ends the VW. It is supposed to be a cop car.
Glad you like them! They are a lot of work, but I enjoy the finished sequence... Cheers!
The Chevy looks awesome with its new components. Sounds great too! Your V8's are going to run awesome, along with Johnathon's. Can't wait to hear them from inside the car also. As always, enjoyed the video!
Dean's flip with the cool BLUE interior would be great as an off shore reef
Loving the opening dinky toy movies. ..... getting better and better 👍👍😎
Love the intro.. ESSO gas is $0.00 for all 3 grades!!! Dear old Dad worked at an Esso before they changed their name. I have on the shelf several cans of "Esso transmission fluid" Unopened.
Nothing better than hanging your arm out of an old car on a sunny summer day! No need to apologize Scott!😎
So today ends with an Astin Martin?"Dean's Greasy Flips",where champagne wishes turn to cesspool nightmares. The parking lot looks Great! 'Jonathan W's gift should be helpful ;).I was looking forward to see the 3-spd trans for a Studie.Maybe soo?Cheers !
Vickie looks great so far... C'mon Stude! So, uh, Scott, my friend, while watching Dean's Flips, I was thinking "shit man, Scott is just one big fuck it from being Scott's Greasy Flips"!. Keep fixing those beauties man! Don't quit!
Cheers as always, beautiful hot August day in Virginia, and a good buzz to match!
Edit; oh shit I remember the folding shades! Nice Dean, keep it sketchy man!!😂
1:05 Tips tricks and Greasy Flips! Franker's says its Saturday!
Having have fun riding in cars!
Thanks for a great show Scott and agents.
Have a fantastic Saturday!
I have spoken before of the Zen of Cold War Motors, and clearly Providence has yielded a universe where a six pack of beer, having been consumed, offers a parts sorter for an ancient two barrel carburetor disassembly. Eternally live The Great Architect!
Well alright alright alright! Time to get some CWM on! Cheers Scott, all the best man.
regarding those repro running boards, back in 1965 my Dad imported from the USA a pair of repro running board covers from the USA. when they arrived they were nothing like the originals so the old ones remained on the car and the repro garbage ones were left on the shelf and they cost hundreds back then. Nothing much changes apparently.
I liked the attention to detail in the engine sounds in the beginning section. And it's always a good day when we see the Tractor Gnome!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks (I think) for another episode of whatever the hell that was. I'm really looking forward to the calendars. I will be ordering several. Cheers!
Thanks Heather! We'll keep everyone posted as we get the calendar together!
I missed this yesterday (it's Sunday today) as I was out of town with my 75 Oldsmobile Toronado at 2 car shows in Southern Wyoming. Actually won a nice trophy at one for 2nd place original car (first place was a 70 AMX Demon. A much nicer car than mine)
Always appreciate your Saturday videos after a long week of work. Keep up the fantastic content.
Hey thanks so much! I'll keep at it if anyone wants to see... Cheers!
ran when new. thank you Dean🙃
I noticed several car channels are copying your rebuild of the Chevy. You guys are still the best car channel on utube
Greetings Scott, Agents, and everyone. The 37 Chevy is a beautiful time capsule. I love it! I'm quite certain the Studie now holds an unfair aerodynamic advantage. The masterful body work gives it a lower coefficient of wind drag. After the switch to a standard transmission, I've decided to abandon team flathead and put my life savings down on the Studebaker.✌️
That Regal grill was designed to wobble back-and-forth to prevent damage in a slow speed impact like the 5MPH bumpers everyone loves the look of.
Great job on the 1937’s running boards. I’d say you did pay too much for the replacements , they should have fit better and not needed some tweaking. Team Vicky is doing a fantastic job on the motor, be great to hear it run again. Team Studebaker is doing well but I still think under that garbage bag is a 340ci on an engine stand 😉🤔. Great idea to put a manual in it too. Cheers Gentlemen 🍻 Dean’s Greasy Flips was funny as hell. 😂
Hey thanks so much! Next week we'll hear some V8 sounds, for sure!
@@coldwarmotors Fantastic !! Thank You !!
I like the way you involve everyone but do most of the work😅🤣
Another awesome video. Looking forward to getting our T shirts.
The parking lot is really nice.
Saturday at the compound is always a good time. Thanks for the invite.
The opening little cars is such fun The 37 is a perfect backroad cruiser I agree Jonathan needs steam engines for dummy’s to even things up The T garage is really looking like a vintage gas station nice work 👍😃
Thanks Dan! We do have a lot of fun doing the opening animations... They are a lot of hours though, holy!
At first when you said calendar, I imagined you were thinking of one of those beefcake calendars with all the agents. Mr. December in the sexy Santa costume. Oh, it's the cars. That's a relief!
Scott you and Myles are working the "SUPERVISOR TOM" ass off....HAHAHA......Good to see Tom still kicking around.....GO TOM GO......
Thanks as always for another great episode! See you Thursday.
Your lil chubby- fendered friend sure looks happy!
Couldn't have found a better home, because you will drive 'er.
