      @gabriellanoelle1606 4 года назад +71

      This is facts. Actually this tip should be given and forced upon kids even when they're under or around 10 years of age honestly lol. Manipulation of acne by picking and etc can lead to permanent scaring. I've experienced this 1st hand. It's better to have a huge pimple on your face for a month or more rather than having a permanent acne scar for life.

    • @kylebolton8147
      @kylebolton8147 4 года назад +40

      @@nesab2671 For me I have two types of picking: A) I kind of pick at my face while working on something and I want to keep my hands busy. B) I stand in front of the mirror and squeeze and squeeze (I have acne) at my face for several minutes. For the B thing I would put a little note by the mirror to remind yourself not to pick and NEVER EVER look really really close up in the mirror. You will just see imperfections that are natural and normal but you'll want to pick them off. For A I would say find something else to keep your hands busy. You can also put on patches or Vaseline with a bandaid on top to help the pimple heal without you being able to scratch at it. It can also maybe help to wear gloves because you can't really pick with gloves on. I also find that after a picking session where I feel so gross after it can be helpful to record a video of yourself or write a little journal entry to remind yourself of how it feels. I hope this helps! Dermatillomania is a serious issue but we can all overcome it! I wish you the best

I had insomnia for literally a whole decade, struggled to get any sleep, and nobody told me that. In case anybody needs to hear it, waking up at the same time everyday does more than going to bed at the same time.

    I started wearing sunscreen every day last year when I was 16, my family and friends keep saying that I will die from vitamin D deficiency even though I have incorporated lots of oily fish in my diet. I shall not let them convince me to give up sunscreen. I have started telling new people that I meet that I have a photosensitive skin condition to explain why I'm so afraid of the sun even though I don't have a skin condition lol.

      It’s amazing how many people see sunscreen as “toxic” but don’t acknowledge that constant time in the sun (especially tanning or burning) as dangerous and potentially cancerous. I don’t think people need to be afraid but spf needs to be normalized!

    • @ber1779
      @ber1779 3 года назад +2

      Just be careful about using a chemical sunscreen (opposed to physical/mineral) bc studies have shown it harms aquatic life and it has been found in unborn fetuses. Physical sunscreens sit on top of your skin instead of being absorbed into it like chemical sunscreens so.There aren’t studies on its longterm effect on humans but if it hurts another living being, it’ll probably hurt me too. I recommend using a physical sunscreen, they reflect sunrays away instead of absorbing them like chemical sunscreens do. The downside is it can leave a whitecast, so try getting one with a tint.

      @@ber1779 I wear a mineral spf (and probs won’t stop because it’s less irritating esp around my eyes). However both of those things about chemical/organic sunscreens have been found to be false. Look into labmuffin (love her channel she has a chemistry PhD and explains things in a straightforward way) beauty’s more recent video on myths about sunscreen where she debunks how their isn’t enough evidence coral bleaching and how there’s not enough evidence to show it harming your body at all.
