This is like when a cooking show host says “on lazy days when I don’t feel like cooking, alls I do is dice up these 8 vegetables, whip up a custom soup base, pluck a chicken..”
And they always name some "simple" ingredient that I have never seen in my grocery store. 🤣🤣🤣
"Did you know if you just did a bunch of carpentry and built a bookshelf, you could have a bookshelf?"
😂😂😂😂😂 right
😂😂
😂😂😂😂
You lost me at the third "AND" 😆
😂😂😂
Well like you know she like is soooo cool like you know
She lost me at cut this, cut that 😂😂
She lost me at "build" them.
I hate this style of presentation, the "do you know that if". It's extremely tiring, the brain tends to follow the while string even if it's not needed. She could say "look what I did. I took 3 bookcases etc etc".
Guys, before you fill in all those inner holes - IKEA sells little cover caps that you just stick in there and can remove anytime later if needed.
You can find them in their VARIERA or KOMPLEMENT series. 😊
Thank you so much for that valuable information. You're appreciated! 💯🥰👍
If you'll fill holes with caps - holes still will be visible, and it is not idea, what is provided in this video 🤷🏻♂️
🙏Thanks
To much
@@DevBer You are making zero sense. How are holes visible if you fill it with caps.
You didn't need to buy that third (inner) shelf. You could have just bought only TWO bookshelves and connect them together, creating a wider inner shelf.
Omg the dust in between the shelves 😭
she thought of that too. white satin duck tape ..take about a roll, an tape across the gap in a X pattern, then some longer pieces to tape over the x's along each side of the cases🧑🔧👩🏭👷♀️
Good job but I hate the material they are made of! Id rather get wood or that higher grade plywood.
Same
Where are you getting your plywood? This is $300 worth of grade A to build this
in true DIY fashion you made a $200 bookshelf using $350 of materials, a bunch of extra tools, and labor put in.
of course you can do that ! You can even do that from scratch with plywood or MDF
DIY … but majority of it is IKEA particle board ready for assembly lol.
These types of “DIY” vids are more for suburban inner city types that want to be thrifty but usually have the luxury where they don’t have to bother thinking about a budget/cost of things in the long run (y’know … the intent of DIYing being that you’re looking to do it yourself while spending as little as possible for better quality over mass manufactured products), so the videos are often a bit tone deaf lol.
Just build a bookshelf yourself with actual wood - cheaper than buying three IKEA shelves made of particle board and all that extra wood and trim. As another comment suggested, can get plywood much cheaper and it will last much longer no matter what IKEA lovers claim. If one doesn’t like the look of plywood, there’s all kinds of wood styles to choose from varying in thickness and type for a fraction of the cost. You’ll get to customize it in detail to your liking and know you’ll get many years of use out of it on the cheap.
"Let's appreciate creativity. What's easy for you may not be simple for someone else. Be kind."
Why.
Why is the text in quotes, who are you quoting?
I think in this case, it's the reverse of that quote though...like...WE'RE the amateurs here looking at this video like, "If I could build a custom bookcase, I'd just build one...But I'm a mere mortal who doesn't own a table saw or a nail gun so..."
@@JesusVillanueva , acho que foi para indicar ironia.
Great idea! Using two on each side of my fireplace, I am using scalloped molding on the top and beveled on the bottom. With books lining the shelves, it looks as though they were built-in by the original builder!!😊
Nuc! How much did it cost you please?
@patriciashears25
4 bookcases =$280 / Molding = $85. / 4 Doors covering the bottom two shelves = $0 ( salvaged from another project) Glass Knobs = $0 ( salvaged from old cabinets) TOTAL = $365 / Result = Looks like original built-ins $$$$$! They helped transform an old boxy living room into a gracious formal living room.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 looks fabulous!
Wow!! You painted a white bookshelf white! How amazing!
Jesus that’s beautiful
Fabulous job! You are so talented and handy! 🌿
Great idea! Perfect job! 🎉
Awesome! I’m going to have to try this.
In other news, pray for me. My husband has convinced me to go along with his (probably insane idea) of painting our kitchen cabinets with car paint and the sprayer he uses on cars! The sprayer itself doesn’t really worry me but idk how car paint is going to work on wood?!
It will. You'll be amazed, and the finish will last beautifully forever.
@@lindapayeur3621can I use special car paints a la pimp my ride? 😂🤔
I've seen it done on a dresser. It looks
shellac' d-- super shinny. It was gorgeous.
Lets put it this way, it will be water proof and fair a hella lot better than woodpaint on a car
Wow, nice job!
Keep your head up be safe and your hair is pretty great video keep up the good work…
Nice work girl!
Looks great!
What a great Papa.❤
Love it😊
I've been looking for some shelving to go either side of my fireplace to style books, etc.God bless you I'm going to do this
Great idea! Easier than making it all from scratch
Looks good possible glass upgrades
Beautiful work gurl❤❤
Or just get another bookcase that literally looks like standard IKEA
Genius 😊
Easier said than done! But it looks great!!!!
Love it good job
Wooooah! This is SUCH a good hack!
That was the world's longest sentence 😂
That’s awesome!
great job!
I like it. It looks much neater than just having two or three bookcases standing beside each other. It looks like one finished bookcase. I don't know why everybody is being so nitpicky about it.
Did you know that you could also go to the grocery store, buy some chicken, seasoning, flower, and oil, wash your chicken, season and bread them, fry them in the oil, and now you have some fried chicken?? 🤷♂️ 😂😂
"Did you know if you bought some book shelves from IKEA...."
*****talking*****
"...and put them up, you could make some custom made book shelves"
No way, PARDON? 😱🙄
I'm speachless ❤❤❤ LOVED IT❤❤❤ you are amazing as always
Building IKEA furniture is harder than building something from raw timber.
I ordered nightstand from Ikea last year. It was all painted cardboard that rattles if you shake it. I hope yours is a little sturdier .
Or make it the Command Station: Wallet; keys, cellphone charger cables; hand sanitizer, coat, shoes, pens, hooks for groceries, etc.
Dope. I'm actually in need of this. This stirs up my creativity. Keep up the great vids 👍
Really cute
It's a great idea for customizing an otherwise set design😅❤🎉
I love this
That was breathy
Even a girl could do it. WOW!
Love it ❤
Missed opportunity to build some secret compartments! :(
Awesome tutorial for ladies with no man to help.
Thanks for sharing. ♥️♥️♥️
I'm too lazy for all that. I haven't even taken the ikea bookshelves out of the box from 6 months ago. But tomorrow is another day.
Looks amazing! But I could no more do all of that than fly.
I get lots of tear out when putting screws in IKEA furniture. Any tips for clean holes?
should have put moulding on the outside partitions
Great idea👍
I just like hearing the dog? Barking in the background
Looks great!! thank you for posting this video
Nice!!
Oh, that is Ikea 👍😊
Great job!... However, I don't want book shelves anymore... Dust and junk collectors... 😆 🤣
Can you tell us what were your measurements of the cuts?
This is great. My only concern is that all modern flat pack furniture is made of what I like to call “termite vomit.” Pressboard and particle board that sags, is not resilient, and once damaged cannot be fixed. Made to be discarded.
Moral… but book shelves.. turn them into book shelves… cool story…
Yes we know. We’ve seen a TON of videos showing this exact same thing.
Glad you could make it your own.
That’s a lot of bookshelf for not a lot of books. I mean refer functional over aesthetic when it comes to bookshelves. Even if the entire thing was filled with books it still wouldn’t be very many books.
You could, not sure I could.😮
No, I had no idea. However, I do know that I could just buy a larger and more efficient shelving system.
Looks great. With your skills, I'm pretty sure you could make a better version
Ooooorrr, i can just buy one. 😊
Regardless of how you say some things, some things will never be *that* straightforward.
did my whole media wall with this and it wasnt cause it was inexpensive i just love the look 👌 you can buy the proper fixtures/hardware to bolt them together i put decorative base board top and bottom and nice trim like dado rail to hide joint and white dot stickers to hide the holes and satin gloss the added bits 👌
this sounds epic!!! have you done any other DIY projects?
@@theflippedpiece pretty much everything... did shelves over period of days then bought old books and shelf filling plants frames and pieces from all over in 2 days to fill them out and i have a sideboard inbetween then tv above in middle looks amazing at xmas 👌
Love it however i love color!❤😅
I love this. Thanks for sharing ❤
That is actually pretty freaking genius. This is the content that I like.
….. or plant shelves! Add grow lights!! Drill holes for the wiring!
A lot of people stopped at building anything from Ikea😂
did you know that if you did all this work to customize Ikea shelves, you'll have customized Ikea shelves?
I am still determining where the nearest Ikea store is. In fact, they do not even ship to my state because Ikea discriminates.
Wow..❤
Looks Amazing, however to many ands for me! Can you do it for me, I’ll pay you, I’ll buy all the parts!! 😅
Did you know...if you're a carpenter and had all the carpentry tools and paint and shit.....YOU CAN DO CARPENTRY!
So, if you buy a book shelf, you can build a book shelf 😱🤯
Is it stable? Did you secure it to the wall or how did you make it stable otherwise?
Favorite shade of white...
Why attach with 2x4 and then trim? You can’t but them together and not trim. Looks not terrible from a distance though, nice job
Isn't it easier to start from scratch with hardware store material?
There's a big gap between the back of the shelf and the wall on top
Anyone wanna tell her she would be cheaper buying the raw material 😂😂
can do loads with billy book cases
YOU NEED TO ATTACH THAT TO
THE BACK WALL.
It’s not safe and will eventually topple over and hurt somebody.
Why use the 2X4s when you could just screw the cabinets directly together?
At this point just build theme from scratch
Why the fuck I would get a perfectly functional bookshelves, just to cripple them into something that barely have space for books?!
Did you know you can do anything with anything if you know how to do it?
Ok.......
But how long will it take to do all that??
Is this even cheaper than buying the bigger shelf?
Nice! But wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a book shelf. I get it. That's its custom. IjS ❤
It looks Great but that's a lot of WORK❗
Thank you! It actually goes pretty fast when you get into it haha!
