Very helpful video thank you. The close up on the black and green ground was all I really needed. There are common forums online where people wire they're grounds to the dimmer which causes light issues in the cab. Had no idea that was the factory ground. Thank you
I bought my buddy's 98 dakota off his mom after he passed in 2012 just now finally getting to restore it. It's hard to find body parts in good shape at a decent price
Thanks for the great video! I have a 99 Durango and I'm trying to install a JVC single din And just need to know exactly what color is the factory infinity Amp wire? Can't seem to find it on line!
Hi I’m in desperate need of some help. I’ve watched you video and it helped my a lot. But I have everything hooked up but can’t seem to get the sound to work
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Have any idea how to remove the 36670 Infinity power amplifier? I have a defective one installed in my '99 Dakota. After removing its 2 bottom mounting screws it is still attached to the frame by its top hook but I still cannot remove it...
I have installed my new Car Hifi Radio Din 1 and it works well, but I have now the two wires left, in violet and white, which are pluged-in at the original radio p04704383ah from Chrysler at the left side (white plug-in). You can see it at 4:04 on the videoclip. What are those two wires in violet and white for? I also have left the brown and black wire, which are on a black plug-in, also see at 4:04 on top, fixed on the metall. I guess those are to ground it. Right?
Are the 2 wires on the separate clip .... Not the factory ground but the 2 single that plug in.. are those the steering wheel control wires? If I'm not hooking that in do I just leave them alone?
the stereo works fine on accessories or when ignition is on, but will you start engine the radio starts losing its signal, what could be causing this ? Reply
Do think of the SWI-X interface might work? It says it will work with aftermarket radios that don't have the blue/yellow wire but do have a remote control which this Raptor does. By the way, in your video did you hook up the orange illumination wire to anything or the dimmer wire to anything? There were those and 1 other wire that didn't match up to anything on the Raptor's wiring harness. If all this doesn't work out I plan on getting the factory unit fully refurbished.
The SWI-X module works as long as your Raptor came with an aftermarket report for the radio. Worth a shot. If your radio didn't have the orange or orange / white wire, just tape them off.
So the pink wire goes into them two wires that had the white plug on it that you cut cuz I have a 99 Durango and that's where I'm getting confused at cuz I don't have a pink wire I got the blue wire coming up to aftermarket radio that turns the amp on so what I connect that blue wire to both the wires
So I just finished the install, using all the same components as you have in video, but different model Kenwood with all same features. Only issue I am having is no matter how many times I calibrate the aswc-1 the steering wheel controller just won't work. And ideas? They did work with factory sterio. 99 Durango
Not sure, you may have to take it to an audio to diagnose. You could also try the PAC version too www.sonicelectronix.com/item_34668_PAC-SWI-RC.html coupon code ProvoBeast
Just need some clarification you say in the video all you need coming out of the aswc-1 is power (red) ground (black which is tied in with radio ground) and control wire (pink). But then it's looks like you add that you need the (white/green) wire for controls as well is that correct? Thanks
If I put a newer radio in my 99 durango, will I have to rewire a harness? Or is that just because you maybe used a different DIN type? I was looking to get a new radio but was hoping it would just be a quick plug and play.
I have a 99 Dodge Durango when I install my after market radio my front left and right rear speakers only have sound coming thru. I took my time a wired it all correct. I didn’t see the problem. Any suggestions??
If you had the factory amplified system, sometimes when removing the factory radio, you have to be sure your balance and fader are set to center. You could have bad speakers, there still may be a wiring issue, etc. It could be a few things.
My Kenmore didn't come with the metal bracket around it with the triangle mounts, just the encasement. What are the specs of that metal bracket so I can mount the dash kit onto it?
I am in need of some help. I have a 1998 Dodge Durango and I stupidly/carelessly cut off the factory wire harness and just tried putting wire to wire but the color of wires are sooo different and now im just waaay stuck. would i be able to do it like this still? and if so can you help?
Do you have tweeters in the front doors? Infinity Amp takes line level signal to make amplified speaker level signal your aftermarket unit may have an amp built it and would need your amplifier bypassed
We've gotten a good handful of Chrysler products to work with the ASWC-1. Just depends on the year and model. Metra's website will list what does and doesn't work.
Quick question. I have a a 2000 Club Cab. Now that I've got this stereo in, it plays pretty good for a while but then the deck basically restarts...like it loses power for a second. Some days it will do nothing but flash on and off. This Dakota has a factory equipped Infinity system in it. What can I do to fix this or what may I be doing wrong. Thanks in advance.
I guess I should have put more details in there. All the factory wiring is still intact. The deck is a Pioneer X5710HD with the adapter harness. Although the harness didn't mention Infinity. But I read a trick on the internet to get sound through the system I had to twist 2 of the wires together. I'd had have to look to see which 2. But Along with the factory system I also have an amp and sub of my own in the back. It all seems to work fine until the deck reboots. I feel like I'm overloading something somewhere. Thanks.
I just added a Raptor RP-CDM3 cd player to my 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T with the original Infinity sound system. It sounds good but I didn't remember there was a separate plug for the steering wheel controls so mine aren't working. The plug that came with the Raptor CD player only had red,black,yellow,blue,white,white/black,grey,grey/black,green,green/black,violet,violet/black and there was a brown wire that wasn't used in the connector to the original radio plug as well as a couple other. Will the ASWC1 still hook up to this CD player? I hate not having my steering wheel controls.
As far as i can tell, your Raptor radio is not steering wheel control compatible. Unfortunately, you would have to upgrade your radio to one compatible with the ASWC-1.
Do i still need the harness adapter if im using a different radio system? EDIT: The stereo i'm using has iso connectors and obviously won't work with the 8pin wire harness. Is there a different wiring kit needed other than the wires that came with the stereo?
Some companies will build one too if you can source one: www.amazon.com/Wiring-Harness-Adapter-Dodge-Stereo/dp/B00ZFVEXXE/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1528135530&sr=8-14&keywords=ISO+Stereo+Wiring+Harness+to+Dodge
i added a kenwood into my 2000 dakota but only the radio works, no usb/cd or anything, is there something im missing that has to do with the blue and white wire?
Sounds like you have the factory amplified system, you need to hook up the blue solid wire on the wiring harness adapter to the blue/white wire on your radio. This will trigger the factory amp to be on all the time, regardless of the input source you are using.
I have a 2000 dodge durango I've wired up a dual radio but everytime I turn my headlights on at night my dash light go out and so do my brake lights and so do my headlights
ok, so I have the kit and a head unit (no steering wheel controls though) my question is as follows: for replacing my factory 2000 Dakota head unit do I take both wire sets from the kit and literally just color match with the piece that came with my head unit, or is there anything else I need to do. I just want to be 100% sure that I dont fuck something up. also, I dont have an external amp right now, but I would *like* to essentially bypass the current subs and wire it to my own sub running off of whatever power it gives it stock, since one of the stock subs is mostly blown. is that at all possible or will that just cause havoc? EDIT: and yes I know these are probably dumb questions, but I dont know much about actually wiring this stuff, and I am 18 I cant afford to fuck something big up somehow
because when you do the video you do not show where each cable goes, one by one, step by step they teach, but I think you do not want to teach how they connect I have a Durango 2000 I installed one of those but it does not work, it only stays solid red and it does not work
Provo Beast Audio Installation I'm using a harness adapter because I'm not good at wiring. The blue wire on the adapter is in a different position than the blue/white wire on the radio plug in.
I wouldn't run a sub off the factory amplifier, just pick up an aftermarket one cheap and install it to ensure you can provide the power required by your aftermarket subwoofer.
Provo Beast Audio Installation well I already bought a box with a built in amp but when it arrived it has a spot for a harness which it didn't come with. Also I have no idea how I would run wire to it without the harness
What is that green and black wire that slides on the factory radio do you need that I need to know if I need to take that off or not cuz I'm not getting power to my radio at all
i have an orange wire that is for "illumination" but i dont see where i am supposed to wire it in any help i have a boss audio 611uab stereo and a a raptor aw-whcr wiring harness the harness has the orange wire and im unsure on where to wire it
I put a new headunit in, it lights up correctly and everything, but theres no sound unless the radio cord isn't plugged in. In that case, it just buzzes.
You may have the amplified version or the infinity version. Be sure the blue wire in your wiring harness adapter is hooked up to your radio's blue / white wire.
That is generally either illumination wire or dimmer wire. If your radio doesn't have an orange or orange / white wire, just cap that off, it wont be needed.
Sounds like a wiring issue. I would use a multi-meter and test to make sure you have a good ground (black), constant power (yellow), and switched power (red)
Provo Beast Audio Installation that's what I thought, I connect the blue wire from the harness adapter to the blue wire from the radio harness and I still have no sound at all, the radio power up and everything, and old radio works fine. My car is equipped with the infinity system if that makes a difference
on the wiring harness adapter (that connects into the car), find the blue or blue white wire. Connect that wire and tie it into the red wire (ignition). This will activate the factory amplifier.
Sometimes the blue wire on the radio is teh amplified antenna and only is on when on the radio setting. changing that wiring configuration will fix your issue.
Provo Beast Audio Installation this is really a pain, I don't have sound on any function of the radio, the blue wire from the harness adapter is connected to the blue of radio harness, I've even tried put the blue from the black harness adapter to the red acc and still nothing. Is it possible for me to jump the amp relay pin 87 with another acc fuse
Sounds like you may have the factory amplified version which in that cause, you need to hook up the amplifier turn on wire to trigger the factory amp to boot up. If you use a wiring harness adapter, you will need to connect the solid blue wire on the adapter to your radio's blue/white wire.
Parts linked in the description of the video!
Glad i watched this before tearing into mine, i would have thought there for sure would be screws in the bottom of that dash bezzle😂

THANK YOU COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE GROUND WIRE, THE OL DODGE IS ROCKIN. WOOOOOOOOOOO
Remember Kids, there is a tab, on the upper right, so you don't do like me and wonder why the radio don't fit, when the thing is up-side-down..
You guys made it so easy for me!!! Thanks so much for the help with this!!!
Thanks for this it help me understand how to wire my 96 dodge ram
Thanks for the great video! I have a 99 Durango and I'm trying to install a JVC single din And just need to know exactly what color is the factory infinity Amp wire? Can't seem to find it on line!
www.modifiedlife.com/1999-dodge-durango-car-radio-wiring-diagram/ Factory Amp trigger wire color should be green.
Green with red stripe
I love how dodge put the red velvet sticky things behind the bezel
Can you please tell me which cable is the one for the swc behind the original radio ?
What is the third White clip on the cars harness that has purple wire and black and white wire?
Hi I’m in desperate need of some help. I’ve watched you video and it helped my a lot. But I have everything hooked up but can’t seem to get the sound to work
I have the same problem with mine no sound
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Have any idea how to remove the 36670 Infinity power amplifier? I have a defective one installed in my '99 Dakota. After removing its 2 bottom mounting screws it is still attached to the frame by its top hook but I still cannot remove it...
I can't get no sound from my radio, it calls for radio stations I don't have the steering wheel option...any help would be greatly appreciated.
Is there a possibility you would be able to show what wires coming from the dorango going to the stereo, a little more detailed
Not a personal vehicle, and this video was from years ago! For better wiring diagram help, use this video: ruclips.net/video/pla_0VpHTvs/видео.html
So the volume is programed but does that also cover the radio channel buttons too?

So there no acc mode for the radio? Like for it to stay on when car is off?
Do think of the SWI-X interface might work? It says it will work with aftermarket radios that don't have the blue/yellow wire but do have a remote control which this Raptor does. Hi. So I have the same brand stereo and same wiring harness but when I hook up my stereo to my existing wiring harness I get no sound what so ever.
I have the same problem no sound

Unless it's OEM, you will be required to wire as we did in the video.
Um....these trucks only came with cruise control on the steering wheel, not stereo controls. You just installed something the truck does not have.
Haha, okay, even though literally there are volume / track controls on the backside of the steering wheel.
Squirrel Killa exactly mine was fully loaded and no radio controls on streering eheel
Wheel*
Nope, my 1999 RT has radio controls on the back of the steering wheel
Nick Fryer my is the sport one with everything thing what do they look like on the back maybe I'm just blind ?
Thank you
Hi I followed everything to the tee but I'm not getting any sound how do I bypass the factory amp

Is this harness for that specific stereo or can I use it for any brand stereo ?
My Kenmore didn't come with the metal bracket around it with the triangle mounts, just the encasement. What are the specs of that metal bracket so I can mount the dash kit onto it?
Head over to any car audio shop or best buy, they all have extras. They may charge you like 5 bucks for them
Oooooooo, White V6 5 speed, JEALOUS.
I am in need of some help. I have a 1998 Dodge Durango and I stupidly/carelessly cut off the factory wire harness and just tried putting wire to wire but the color of wires are sooo different and now im just waaay stuck. would i be able to do it like this still? and if so can you help?
Solder back on the original harness, or pull a stereo wiring diagram and start from scratch.
how much did all of this cost????????????
I got a blood and white and blue and the yellow radio in a 97 Dodge Dakota hornaday go where do they
What is the wire that’s clipped into far right of the wires that’s slid onto tab of the radio bracket
I'm having issues getting sound from the radio? I have power the radio found my phone yet no sound.. the ground I think is my issue
Do you have tweeters in the front doors? Infinity Amp takes line level signal to make amplified speaker level signal your aftermarket unit may have an amp built it and would need your amplifier bypassed
I have a 99 dodge dakota slt and I have installed a aftermarket radio in it and my dash lights quit working, any idea what it might be.
My radio powers up finds Bluetooth somlng yet NILO VOLUME at all??
Did you get the metra aswc to retain the factory steering wheel controls? I've heard that only the PAC modules work with Chrysler's 2 wire CCD system.
We've gotten a good handful of Chrysler products to work with the ASWC-1. Just depends on the year and model. Metra's website will list what does and doesn't work.

What wiring harness would you use in a 1992 Dakota for an aftermarket radio
Head over to sonic electronix and use their vehicle fit guide, that will give you a list of all parts needed.

How do you just install the Bluetooth radio I got a 1999 Dodge Durango 5.2 l
I tried to do in my dodge Dakota but it doesn't work for me
what about a install on a 2004 chevy trailblazer ext LS
Don't have one at the moment, but i do have a S10 which is similar: ruclips.net/video/x7SN7Fuyd_8/видео.html

Sounds like you have the amplified system. Be sure the blue wire on your harness adapter is connected to the radio's blue/white wire.
Provo Beast Audio Installation I'm using a harness adapter because I'm not good at wiring. The blue wire on the adapter is in a different position than the blue/white wire on the radio plug in.
Provo Beast Audio Installation it's an iso converter wiring harness
Provo Beast Audio Installation the wiring layout is all wrong for my adapter, and I'm not sure what to do about that
So that one small black wire that was hooked to the metal case. What is that for and where would you wire it too.
Thats your ground Adam, make sure you connect your Radio's black wire to that wire.
Provo Beast Audio Installation I did what you said and it works perfect now. Next is to figure how to run a sub off the original amp😁
Also I have no idea how I would run wire to it without the harness
check ebay for that harness
Where does the ground wire from the harness connect?
See 4:12
Where did the black green wire come from?
It's a 2000 dodge Durango
It is a separate wire with a small plug connected directly to the back of the factory radio.
See 4:04, you can see the wire with a black connector by itself connected to the back of the factory radio. That is the ground.
Hey, mine turned on and played for about a minute, then died and won’t turn back on
Is that a kit with the deck that helps it fit?. I just got my pioneer deck and It doesn't fit and I am unsure about what to use. Conversion kit?.
All the parts we used are listed in the description. The Metra Kit we used fits all single din stereos.
Provo Beast Audio Installation this is what I got.B00029X1O6/ref=psdcmw_15729901_t1_B000281X6U
That link didn't work
Provo Beast Audio Installation all I get when I search it is a metra 30 6228
Well, you will need the Metra 99-6229 Stereo Dash Kit Adapter
how u have a whole video an didnt show the damn steering wheel once??
What is that green and black wire that slides on the factory radio do you need that I need to know if I need to take that off or not cuz I'm not getting power to my radio at all
I know this was posted 2 years ago but did you figure out your issue? I have zero power going to my radio and I can not figure it out
Thats the ground
How do you know what the fuller plate is supposed to be? I want to put a new one in my 2002 that’s why I’m asking
fuller plate?
The plate so there’s no gap between the radio and the dash so it looks good
Dash kit is what you need. See the description for parts used in this install and the part number to the dash kit.
i have an orange wire that is for "illumination" but i dont see where i am supposed to wire it in any help i have a boss audio 611uab stereo and a a raptor aw-whcr wiring harness the harness has the orange wire and im unsure on where to wire it
Your boss radio isn't compatible with the illumination wire, just cap it off.
Provo Beast Audio Installation thanks youve helped me a ton and i really appreciate it

I plug everything in and hear speaker feedback but the display doesn't light up? Is there anyway to make sure my headunit isn't fried?
Recheck all your connections again, test with another radio, etc.
My radio only has a blue wire that is labeled power antenna
then tie in the wiring harness blue wire to your radio's red wire.
Tengo una Durango 98 y duda tengo el rosa pink va con el amarillo yellow.?
did you not need a antenna adapter?
Nope! not on this year Dakota.
What do,I do with the amp wire? Connect it to the ignition/acc wire?
The amp remote turn on wire connect it to the radio's blue / white wire. If not available, you can connect it into the Red ignition wire.
bro same wheel as mine doesnt have sound control
I have everything connected, but no power, no nothing. I have voltage, but I'm not sure about my ground.
Use the continuity setting on your multi-meter to see if your ground is good.
What did you do with the orange wire on the gray plug in adapter?
That is generally either illumination wire or dimmer wire. If your radio doesn't have an orange or orange / white wire, just cap that off, it wont be needed.
Provo Beast Audio Installation we cant the thing to get it to work something is wrong
Sounds like a wiring issue. I would use a multi-meter and test to make sure you have a good ground (black), constant power (yellow), and switched power (red)
Okay now my old radio hooked back up wont run so I am gonna look at it with my friend who knows it or take it to a shop
Sounds like you blew a fuse. Check your radio fuse in the fuse box
Saludos a provo Utah
What wires are speaker wires
What does the orange wire connect to
Orange wire is generally the illumination / Dimmer wire. If your radio does not have it equipped, just tape it off.
Not for 2nd generation Durango.
I have no sound, where does the blue amp wire from radio harness go to
That blue wire needs to be hooked up to the blue / white wire on the radio. This triggers the factory amp to turn on.

Where does the amp turn on wire go?
to the blue wire if you have the amplified system. If not, just cap it off.
What the wires on the back of the radio
Lots of them...Are you referring to the aftermarket or factory radio?
How did you by pass the amp
We didn't, we retained it.
What color wire is the hot one
Constant 12v is yellow, switched 12v accessory is red.

I have the infinity sound ... so factory amp ???
Sounds like you may have the factory amplified version which in that cause, you need to hook up the amplifier turn on wire to trigger the factory amp to boot up. If you use a wiring harness adapter, you will need to connect the solid blue wire on the adapter to your radio's blue/white wire.
Yes, you will need to hook up the solid blue wire to either the radio's blue/white wire or the red wire. This will trigger the amp to turn on .
Balls to the wall man thank you so much 💯💯💯
Is it different wiring if I have a security system too?
