For an ATV, that was a 2wd course. And never throw little logs in a mudhole. That's just gonna create ammo to fling up and damage a truck. Lay 3-4' lengths across the tire tracks. The weight of the trucks will push them down into the mud providing a solid base.
As an avid ATV, SxS and dirtbike rider this was painful to watch. Course was 2WD at best. These 2 are truck guys mostly so you can't blame them for being overly cautious going thru stuff that the average rider would plow thru. I own a Sportsman 570 and 850. These machines are capable of much more than most people can handle.
I had an 850 for like 8 years and that thing was way more capable than i am. You could almost take it thrpugh abput everything except pits of moist squishy clay dont ask me how i figured out you cant go through those.
agreed, I've only been riding ATV's for a year since buying my property, but I think I could have ripped through that course on my 1900 dollar craigslist-find 2002 Bayou 300 Kawasaki in 1/10th the time they spent sizing up the "obstacles". They will get the hang of it quickly, I hope.
I bought a 2023 CFMoto CForce 500 ATV last year for $7,400 and I love it. I’ve got almost 500 miles on it and it’s been an awesome machine. I’ve plowed snow and hit the trails with it.
Gotta say after the buildup this was a bit underwhelming. Maybe it’s because you guys generally off road in cars? I was expecting this really gnarly, long rutted out mud pit. What we got was barely more than mud puddles and you drove around them. You took the wife line through them all! A Yamaha Blaster on worn tires would’ve made it through that course just fine
They let people bring their own cars and go through their course. You should give it a try before saying too much. Or go watch any of their other videos of offroaders trying it.
Wow! Are you guys timid. We find out how bad a spot is simply by driving into it lol. Only thing I try to stay clear of is deep water. Winch and a tow machine means “go for it!”
I have a yamaha grizzly. I bought it the first year they came with electric power steering. I've had it up to 70mph, mounted a winch and a snow plow too. It's been a really good machine.
As someone who has been dealing with this on my own trail; the rain in the spring will exponentially deepen those voids. In my case it’s mostly a walking trail so my cool was for fairly compacted terrain with a little bit of mud being ok. After some trial and error with grading I ended up bringing multiple buckets of old leaves from the fall with my tractor then mixing those into the mud using my bucket to compress and essentially squeegee out the water. I’m sure David has some more ideas that could reduce the soup so the course is still a challenge but not impossible.
I have a Polaris 570 Premium, mine has 327mi on it. It’s back in the shop today! As my Polaris Maintenance manager said, “they’re not made to drive through grass !?!” Fortunate for me. It’s only going to be 2 1/2 weeks before I get it back.
Great example of how amazingly capable ATVs are. Im not surprised how well it did... i used to spend a lot of time on a 90s Kawasaki KLF / Bayou 400 in boggy ground and even with fairly worn rear tires it was pretty hard to get it stuck... even when towing a trailer! 😊
Polaris FINALLY got smart and relocated the battery from the bottom of the frame , to up top by front storage. Only took them 20 years to realize to keep battery away from water and mud.
One thing I recommend on this quad is when you’re going tiny mud puddles don’t go in 4wd it’s not worth it. It wouldn’t have gotten stuck in the spot you turned it on in. I have the same one and I do some gnarly shit with it and I never get stuck
I think a TFL heavy equipment channel should be in the near future and shape that course a bit more suited for trucks and sections for ATVs. They're too different for the same course. Thanks for years of great content. Cheers 🍻
I know myself and others have noted this before, but the section where the ram got burried, you guys need to put a bunch of rip rap into that. Medium sized, like 7-10". Once they sink in, they will give a base so that its not a bottomless pit. The other option, which is more permanent, is to divert the water, but thats likely not an option.
if you want to fix that mudhole, dump a load of coarse aggregate in it. still allows for the water to pass thru and allows for travel over the creek... but honestly, i love mud holes and i see it more as a challenge then anything
Well, I never agreed with the chunks of wood being used for long term. In an emergency situation out in the middle of nowhere, anything you can get your hands on to give you traction should you need it, sure. But that is a bad plan for a re-using course to demonstrate a vehicles hard core abilities. I gave you wise advice already in previous videos, so I won't rehash it here. That creak just needs to be fixed properly. Period. You don't put rags down under a leaking toilet, you fix the toilet so you don't need the rags. ;) IF you are serious about wanting that problem solved, you have to fork over time, money, and energy into doing it correctly. Stop it at the source. Running a quad through there is not going to gauge how bad things are for trucks and SUV's. ;) Heck, didn't even run the Ranger through the whole thing on camera.
C'mon guys, my grandma could do this course in 2WD on bald tires. ATVs and SxS are a different beast than Off road trucks, they are generally way more capable. This may be difficult for a 2T truck on road worthy tires, but on an ATV with huge lugged tires this is a joke. You guys are obviously not avid off roaders in anything but trucks. Just drive through it, if you do actually get stuck which is rare, and never in that stuff, you have a winch. I go through mud holes 5 feet deep in my outlander and up hills twice as steep as anything in this video no problem. It always blows my mind what the normal non ATV person gets scared of when I bring them out, they will stop and look at something for a whole minute that anyone who knows what theyre doing wouldnt even think twice about. These machines are way more capable than most people think.
I generally like the videos with the two of you guys in it but you guys need somebody test riding these ATVs that actually knows how to ride a quad. That trail is a Sunday cruise on a quad.
Love the videos, can't wait to see another video about the Ranger Raptor. I'm still waiting for mine, and it's now been over a year since I put my deposit in for it, and I'm still disappointed in how few videos there are about it. I guess the excitement for the Ranger Raptor is just not there for people to make videos about it like they did for the Bronco when it came out.
"So, 44 horsepower is not a ton. . ." I suppose it is not when compared with the newer market. I still view ATVs through the lense of the mid to late '90s where my little Honda 300 with roughly 18 horsepower was amazing! At least to me it was :-)
You are going to have to get a load of rip rap stones and fill that mud hole up. It will still allow water to flow, but give you the traction you need to get through it. Stop throwing logs into the mud holes...that is organic material that will just rot and it also is slick as snot.
LoL my first time ever on an ATV decades ago, I went through stuff 10x this gnarly without hesitation in a less capable machine...this is a joke. Yes I've seen the vehicles you've had stuck in there in other videos, but on an ATV with it that dry, take the frickin' "hard" line
I with u guys would try out a CFmoto ATV. I sold my sxs a few months ago and want an ATV for some trail riding, yard work and maybe some mud. I love Polaris but only having AWD scares me a bit. I like having 2wd, 4wd high and low and lockers. The CFmoto comes with all that plus a factory winch on every atv free of charge. lots of extra's and a lot cheaper the the main brands that's been around and never changed barley in 10 years. for wht i'm going to be using it for I'm either going to get a 400 or a 600. I watched a lot of long term reviews and they were all mostly positive but would like to know what u guys think. Also I'm in Canada and i think CFmoto was around here longer than in the states but would love for u guys to try one and review it because i trust TFL more than the other channels i watched
Once i overestimated the capability and i got stuck as hell in this clay pit this one time. Only time i ever got it stuck as theres no mud in a desert tbh
Imho, after owning both SxS and quad , unless my woman is with me I'm a quad guy. Can go more places, not as loud, not as hot, and can just do more in general amd still work it.
Love yalls content but I have to agree with the majority on this one…. That was painful to watch…. Yall drove those things like my 88 year old grandpa when he took his out to check on his cattle lol
I my name is matt Chapman. I could do at the corse is cotton creek you can put small Boulders down and tommy demise you can lage logs and push them down and do the same at home free home
Wow like just ride the machines and stop riding so scared of baby situations. Have guts and just ride hard and send it. I petty u guys trying to ride trails where I am in newfoundland what would take me a hour ride would take u half of the day.
What kinda Southern are you?? Especially from Georgia. I get you're from the Big city of ATL & all. But really? Turkeys are definitely Fast! Can run upto 30mph & fly upto 55mph! & ofc can be hunted in both GA & AL where I'd shoot wild ones on our land often! I'm beginning to think I might be Butcher than you bud😂. Bc You took that toy thru the biggest Wussy spots you could find! Plus obviously never hunted wild turkeys? Wow, just Wow! Idk, maybe ⏲️ to grow some 🍑 fuzz on your chin to Butch ya some 😂.

Jadosa29. I agree. I was hoping to see what this machine is capable of.
Guys your riding those machines VERY conservatively. ATVs and SxS are pretty much the best off road vehicles. Almost unstoppable
Wow! Are you guys timid. We find out how bad a spot is simply by driving into it lol. Only thing I try to stay clear of is deep water. Winch and a tow machine means “go for it!”
I volunteer as tribute to bring my Bronco Badlands on 37s through the course! I'm only 20 minutes or so away haha!
I purchased a brand new one a few years ago, for mini farm work, and the rear drive shafts broke TWICE. Now I have Honda and had ZERO problems.
I have a yamaha grizzly. I bought it the first year they came with electric power steering. I've had it up to 70mph, mounted a winch and a snow plow too. It's been a really good machine.

This person riding the 570 would never be able to handle where I ride, if they can barely handle this 2wd track
It’s painfully obvious that you guys are not serious ATV riders. None of that would be a problem for that machine.
Can’t be afraid of getting dirty.
☕☕Thanks Alex and Kase...Have a good day everybody...

Grandma could do that in a Chevy Lumina.
You can't compare a 4x4 vehicle that weighs 5 hundred pounds to a 4x4 vehicle that weighs 5 thousand. Of course the quad will do great.
I generally like the videos with the two of you guys in it but you guys need somebody test riding these ATVs that actually knows how to ride a quad. That trail is a Sunday cruise on a quad.
I love my Suzuki King Quad 750. I looked at this Polaris, but ended up with the Suzuki.

Glad the grandpa slow driving is a bit more apparent to all on an atv lolol, and it isn't even something real like a yamaha raptor
Man, nice but I think you need some more riding experience !
You are going to have to get a load of rip rap stones and fill that mud hole up. It will still allow water to flow, but give you the traction you need to get through it. Stop throwing logs into the mud holes...that is organic material that will just rot and it also is slick as snot.
Great video! It’s nice to see you. You guys doing another four wheeler run-through.
That was sad. First quad?
Could you make a long sandy Hill climb like on the sand dunes to test adv's, Utv's, and off road trucks and vehicles.
Maybe some class 5 gravel and scoop out some gumbo mud ( not all )!
Did they really think a 4 wheeler ATV would have trouble with this course?
Just ride bros.
Just another example of how sxs are in a different off road universe than jeeps or trucks
I am surprised you threw wood aka wheel chocks into the mud.
