MysticalAmber it can. POTS stands for Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. So any change of posture/position can trigger the tachycardia. Some ppl can tolerate all positions apart from standing and some ppl can’t even sit up right.

I got diagnosed with POTS recently too, on top of fibromyalgia and hypermobility - Amy was one of my reasons for persevereing with my doctors :)

Oooh, I was about to agree with Tom but the linguist in me needed to research this and I think it should be "groins" plural if both hurt. Like "loins"...That would make the most sense. Amy wins again!

My medical ID is from the same website, but I have one that you can set up an IHR (interactive health record) with. It’s basically an online equivalent of the wallet card you showed and you can add whatever extra information you think is relevant. Then on the alert bracelet itself it had a logon that emergency response can use to access all the information.

When I was first suspected of having EDS, I figured I would only get an ID if I had vascular type. When I was then diagnosed with a vascular type CTD (Loeys-Dietz Syndrome) I figured I'd wait till I started to develop aneurysms. Now I'm waiting till the aneurysms are big enough to warrant an ID. I may never actually decide to get one haha.

😅 i'm totally with you Amy. Right groin and left groin! Like... groin area total... but then also you could specify right groin and left groin.
Now that I think about it, maybe that is a thing?
Ask a doctor next time you see one. Ask what if I said my left groin hurt, would that be weird?
Also, charmin blue toilet rolls. Softest strongest best toilet rolls.

    • @darkbluematter1753

It took me 5 years and dozens of tests and doctor to get help. They literally would not believe me until one lucky day, they actually caught my issue on a test (manometer showed esophageal motility issues), and then they gave me a feeding tube. It didn't matter how underweight I was or how dehydrated. They were just like, TRY HARDER... I was like, I am trying as hard as I can. Then they would indicate they thought it was just anxiety or mental issues, and they would send me home. 5 years not being believed and told I was crazy. I barely survived that, mentally I came so close to ending things, physically, my body was declining. My only advice is never give up. Keep getting tested. One day, there is going to be a test that shows what's wrong or a doctor that actually believes you without needing test results. I hope it doesn't take 5 years for you. 💙

    • @darkbluematter1753

Allouise B the diagnosis was IEM (Ineffective Esophageal Motility) which means my esophagus muscles were not sufficiently contracting to perform peristalsis or sometimes not contracting at all--i.e. I would swallow the bolus, and top worked but then nothing happened after that, the esophagus muscles just sat there instead of contracting all the way down. No idea why it stopped working right--no underlying diagnosis yet. I don't have EDS. Doc tried stretching my esophagus as a last ditch effort but that didn't help. So now I have a gtube.
