Happy 2024 Michelle. I love that blanket shawl. My weight fluctuates, too when I’m at the top of the scale I make leisure clothes, pajamas, and robes. I figure those can be oversized at any point in time. The quilts are beautiful so looking forward to seeing them complete. My 2024 plans include more travel. I have a trip to see the northern lights planned in early February and I am going to the sewing expo in Washington state at the end of February. I went about 10 years ago. It was phenomenal. Take care.❤🧵🎉🎉
Hi Dotschi! Happy 2024 to you as well 😊 Oh wow - the northern lights - how wonderful! That will be such an amazing experience. I hope you enjoy the expo - it can be lots of fun!!
what an awesome idea to stay cozy at your desk! i totally agree with making documenting your projects part of the process. just be gentle with yourself and schedule in breaks as well. i've found myself very close to burnout recently and i have to remind myself that it's ok not to put everything on social media sometimes.
That blanket is awesome! All those colours ❤❤ Before I had a proper 'hump jumper' I just used to used a small piece of folded cardboard under my presser foot. It worked fine. Looking forward to seeing more of you in 2024 😘😘
Your blanket shawl looks amazing - I love the quilting on it. I feel the same re sewing garments for myself. My wardrobe is full of me-mades and I don’t really need more clothes. I look forward to seeing how you take your channel forward.
Nice to see you and your video today! I recognize those lidded pattern boxes! I ordered three of those myself after I saw your sewing room tour. They are perfect! I've got three, but one is empty still. Lovely hearing about your plans, too. Happy sewing!
Wow that's gorgeous, plus you get the texture of the quilt. Great project. You look amazing! I've used a folded piece of cardboard as a hump jumper and that could work while you're waiting for it to arrive. Happy new year and thanks for sharing this project, it's lovely.
Happy holidays. Project dress a girl has been on my mind to start in January. You had asked about electric scissors awhile back. I had purchased a pair of Pink Power electric scissors on Amazon. Wow. What a game changer. I used them for cutting out the dress a girl fabrics . I sailed through 10 layers of quilting cotton like a hot knife through butter. No stress on my hands at all. Yes they are noisy, but it went so fast that for me it wasn’t an issue. Happy sewing. Irene
Thanks so much for letting me know! I bought some electric scissors several months ago but feel like I need to practice with them so they don't get out of control. But it's great to know that you can cut through so many layers! Happy New Year Irene!
Love the blanket shawl! Good luck with “whole 30” program. It will definitely be helpful that your husband is doing it too. My husband and I have not gone out on New Year’s for a number of years. We use to go to dinner and then a movie, but that was before Covid. Now I don’t even hear the pots and pans being banged as I’m fast asleep by 12:00. Wishing you a very happy, healthy New Year!!! Looking forward to watching your videos and whatever craft you do!!!
I think your blanket shawl came out really cute. It's nice that you can throw it on and off easily. You know, if you aren't wanting to sew for yourself but you want to garment sew, you could make a few dresses for project dress a girl. Have fun with your quilts. It will be fun to see them when they are all done. I usually spend New Years in my lounge wear or pj's. Maybe I should make myself some cute lounge wear 😀 Happy New Year.
What an excellent idea! I should have thought of that! I will definitely get a start on my project dress a girl makes - thanks so much for the suggestion! I also love your idea of fun pj's for new year's eve 😊. HAPPY NEW YEAR Carol!!
Michelle! I’m so glad you’re back! Bummer that you hate the dress cos the colours and patterns from the ice dying are just glorious! 😢 All the very best with achieving your health goals in 2024! I’ve heard of whole 30 but wasn’t sure what it was about. Sounds like a worthwhile exercise. I bet most of us would benefit from trying it! Looking forward to seeing your creative ventures and hearing what your plans are for the channel. Happy New Year, lovely lady! Ps your hair colour looks fab!
Hi Faith! The issue with the dress is how it looks on my body shape. The dress itself came out beautiful! Hopefully, as I navigate this healthy journey - I'll be happier with it down the road 😊 Happy New Year! And thanks for noticing my hair - I just got it done Wed!!
Nodding with you on the Charlie caftan. I made view A and LOVE it... probably my favorite make of the year. I'm not going to try B or C! The blanket shawl is great. It looks like some of the ice dyeing kind of followed a bit in the lines of quilting and it makes me wonder how highly textured fabric... brocades... damasks... that sort of thing, would do with ice dyeing. I guess I'll have to try! I'm getting over a miserable cold so am not enthusiastically getting ready for New Year's and all the things I'd like to accomplish. Hoping to get my oomph back soon. Have a Blessed and Wonderful New Year.
I think the only reason I don't like view C is because the gathers make me look pregnant. The dress actually came out so lovely! As I lose weight, I believe I will be happier with it 🤞🏻. Have a wonderful New Year Diane!!
Wishing you much success in reaching your goals, Michelle. Happy New Year! By the way, while you are waiting for your hump jumper, you can use a larger button (or folded paper) to keep the presser foot level and finish your awesome shawl. Bernadette
Love seeing you the shawl is great i agree with tbe boxes im in the same head space just making things easy to get to i wish you all the best for the new year 🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
Hi Michelle, I love your wrap around quilt, the colours are fantastic. Some time ago I made something similar, but used polar fleece. I started with a large square that was the width of the fabric, then made a cut from the centre of one edge to the centre of the fabric. That makes the two fronts and the whole width is the back. I also fringed the edges of the front and back. It’s beautifully warm and it drapes well. I hope you can work out how I did it. The shape is similar to yours except mine is squarer. 🧵🪡🇦🇺
I love your hair dark! 🤩 The quilt shawl is fab! Yay for doing Whole 30! Proud of you! You’ve got this! 💪🏻💗
Thanks Andra! You're the best support in the world!!
Love the blanket shawl! Your sewing journal is A-MAZ-ING!! I"m looking forward to seeing what the new year brings and hope you have a fantastic 2024!
Thanks so much Angela! I hope you have a wonderful New Year 😊💕

Oh Trish - you make me smile 😊 Love you back!!

That's an excellent point Sara - thanks for reminding me! I have definitely dealt with burnout this year. Happy New Year friend 😊💕
Ack. So sorry you lost the footage! That stinks. Can’t wait to see your quilt finished

I think that's adorable...you could also make that very dressy! Happy New Year!!
I hadn't thought about wearing it outside of the house but you are not the first person to suggest that! I might have to think about it - thanks!! 😊💕

That sounds wonderfully cozy Letitia! The polar fleece really sounds warm and the fringe sounds stylish 😊
