I think this video is perfect, been running reefs for over 25 years and did all the bullshit must have fishes ( powder blues) ...current 120 tank is absolutely full of a variety of damsels and I absolutely love it...so lively and fun...and cheap! Well done Hatter
I have had all of these through the year but have about half of them as we speak between my 2 tanks. Only one missing in my option is the royal gramma. I have one in each tank and love the personality and a must in my tanks.
I put in my cardinal fish and fiefiah in first then clown fish and because of this video I found out a lot more about how they are almost perfect together, thank you so much my dude
I have a female yellow prawn goby that I named Cheryl 😂she’s such a great fish and kinda just keeps to herself. I love their permanent grump face! I’d also mention the striped blenny. Despite the venom, mine was very friendly and hung out with my flurry ocellaris clownfish a lot
Damsel fish are jerks but super hardy. I have a 4 stripe damsel in my pico 5.5g and he tore a hermit crab out of its shell and devoured it. That goes to say recently I had a over population of amphipods eating my zoa colonies dropped them in his tank and he decimated them. I have a friend that has e in his redsea and they dont seem to bother anything with enough space
When i was a more naive aquarist, the store got me to buy two damsels and a clownfish once my rank had cycled. One of the damsels literally tore apart the other damsel, and was chasing my poor clownfish around until he was pale from stress :( Tool me like 3 hours to catch that asshole to send him back.
I have a yellow tail damsel, bangai cardinal, six line wrasse and a clown. Biggest jerk in the tank by far... The clown. I cant seem to put any new fish in the tank now because he is relentless with any newcomers. He will even bite me if I have to put my hand in the tank for something. Seems like fish just have their own personalities sometimes. Any suggestions for a way to add a new tank mate? And is there a suggestion for what kind of fish to try if I do?
Picked up a couple PJ cardinals a month or so ago, mostly because they were cheap at $8 a piece. Also got the Bangaii too at $10 each. (Man it's nice to have a LFS that has fish cheaper than online prices!) lots of cardinal fish are cheap right now too.
I have had 4 of those fish. Couldn't keep the chromis ether. Currently have the clowns which are about 10 years old. They bullied the yellow tail damsels and killed them. Also have the bangie cardnal fish. Spot on with some of those. Haven't seen some of them in my LFS. But will keep looking. What are your thoughts on a blue tuxido urchen? I had one for years but it didn't survive the tank upgrade. I want another love the way they look.
I have a married stepbrother who work as a construction worker for 18 years. Who owed a 125 gallon marine aquarium that well established tank . Hidden carpet anemones 3 of those . c 3
Damsel is nice in a large tank because this keeps swimming around ang checking every corner of your stones. Unlike the clown fish which almost always stay around 1ft cube of space. lol
What makes me sad is every fish on this list is close 30$ a piece at my lfs. I paid over 35$ for my starry blenny. A bangaii is like 30 a piece. Even pajama cardinals are over 30$
Damsel is a jerk, he/she is forever in the QT tank for corals. Also I agree on chromis, I had a school of 7, looked great, but they are fragile. I lost 4 to get that school level in QT and they have a special disease to them! So it’s hard to keep if LFS is infected!
Also, the chromis are famous for not schooling well. Stick with one chromis and you will be fine. Just be sure to properly quarantine for uronema treatment at a minimum.
Why would you recommend the blue green chromis if you have never had luck on it? I understand you have heard of people who have had luck with it, but come on.
Jeff, nice meeting you today. Hope you had a safe ride home and found the Fragtoberfest in CT interesting and enjoyable.
It was great meeting you as well!

Great vid thanks for the list I’m going to get a clown goby and a bicolor Bennie for my nano tank

Awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing!
Nice list! Very informative
Thanks for watching
I just started new 2nd salt tank n gave me good idea for a starter kit
My yellowtail damsel is very peaceful and doesn't bother anything else in my tank (and I added him first too)
That's really reassuring because I want one!!!❤❤

That’s the craziest thing I’ve heard about damsels.

I call them DAMNNNN SELFISH
Awesome video as always

Do you think you could update the list if your able to? I love watching ALL of your videos!!! I use them as reference when deciding for new fish!
Great idea!
I mean on updating...

I have a bi color blenny & you’re right as they can be obnoxious which mine is. 😁
Cool video and funny couple of those fish are expensive in canada
That’s kinda funny but not for 🇨🇦
The azure damsel is more peaceful. Great list!!
Great video!

I’ve never kept one but I will someday.
@@MadHattersReef they are a great addition to the tank. Had mine for 3 years.
I have a starry blenny and he is huge but he is a gentle giant
Can you do a top 10 50 gallon saltwater tank
Got my watchman goby from my lfs for 7.99. I also cant keep a school of chromis. started with 6 down too 1 been in tank awhile now
#10 how dear you call that 🐠 fish ugly lol lol you made my day cool upload
🤣 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
What’s that website so I can identify something in my tank
What do you think of the famous mantis shrimp
Never kept one.
👍Always for the win!
Another great video, it's funny where I am from in Canada all the fish you named are 20$ to 30$ more then the price you gave lol .
Sorry to hear about that.
@@MadHattersReef don't be man. It's normal. Everything is cheaper in the USA when it comes to fish
Omfg sameeeeee
I'm in Ireland and a cardinalfish costs about €35 which is like 40-45$😭😭
@@shawaiz6022 and there's like 2 stores that sell any thing halfway rare or uncommon 😭😭
@@shawaiz6022 lol I'm an hour and a half away and they're still pricy enough
Edit: at least online I'm not sure if they have sales or deals in store
If you live somewhere near the seaside, are saltwater fish cheap?
No.

What would happen if I add a yellowtail damsel and 2 clownfish at the same time?

Do you have any stickers? Looking to decorate my tank stand with?
I have some. DM me on IG

Can I put more than one gobi in a 5ft long
You could put 2 in a 5 footer
@@MadHattersReef thanks u
Nice
Thanks for watching
Groups of firefish almost always end up killing each other.
When your fire fish is the boldest fish in the tank
Green chromis will kill weaker chromis if kept in small tanks. They need large tanks
Speaking of compete jerks. Hahahaha, perfect 👍🏽
We had 3 of the yellow tail damsels and one of them killed the other two.
👊👍
I have a blue damsel in my 40 gallon and it won’t let my nice damsel in the other caves
I meant I meant top 10 50 gallon fish for saltwater

These prices don’t include shipping and box fee anyways tho. So if you aren’t spending more than $150 online then it’s pretty much the same price.

How do I keep aggressive fish with semi Aggressive fish and peaceful ones
Add the Peaceful then semi then aggressive and over feed so there’s no battle for food
Omg when did they stop calling them Bangaiis and start calling them Kaisern’s cardinal
Its probably a regional thing, they are still Banggais here in Socal

In canada these are priced at 5 times more
Idk why but my Chromis have always died
