I've previously only had goldfish and betta fish and wanted to try my hand at maintaining a reef tank and I've been watching your videos to help out with that. You provide a lot of information and form unbiased opinions on tank size and what beginners should and should not invest in when starting in the hobby. I love your videos and will keep watching them before purchasing my own tank!
Current critter stock in my 5g: Catalina goby 3 trimma type gobies 2 different types Blue leg hermit Electric blue hermit Small blue tuxedo Urchin Money cowery Turbo snail Astrea snail Sexy shrimp Adding more tiny fish in a week or 2 hopefully. Very excited about this order. This is a pretty good list as I have seen many that were definitely not accurate or miss information. You even included the cautions which is awesome.
I would have 1 Trimma goby, 1 electric blue Hermit crab, all the snails and sexy shrimp and I think that would make my 4g tank I made for my family in my house really balanced.
@@zepholmsted3573 actually it was not overstocked. It was understocked. Trauma gobies and critters in there were not even an inch. Could have about 10 small trimma gobies lol.
Take 2 cups of saltwater out of the pico tank and add 2 cups of new saltwater every morning and you will have a greater chance of success..Have saltwater in a bucket with a pump ready for every day use and you'll be on a different leval, new guys..This is my advice.I have a 2.8 gallon pico.
Just be sure it’s the same salt mix you’ve always used. A vast difference in levels on a small tank is bad news. Also be certain the salt has fully dissolved
I love small critter so much. You surprise me with the spotted coral goby croucher I rarely see them. Btw if anyone see my comment, Nano-reef.com do a Contest 20g or less, it's a competition I think I will join. 365 Challenge. Waiting for some confirmation of my boss...
Just subscribed man been looking at your last videos and they are great, right now I am trying to cross breed a lightning maroon clown with a regular ocellaris
Yet again forgot 3 main Pico fish DWARF SEAHORSES, EVIOTA GOBY, AND THE MASKED GOBY Al of these are tiny like the gobies look like SW neons tetras with different color they make great Pico inhabitants and frankly dwarf seahorses should never be kept in a tank larger then 10g
The fish store people told me it’s too hard for a newbie when I wanted a nano freshwater, it wasn’t. The reef people are now telling me a nano reef is too hard for a newbie. My inner stubborn teenager is appearing.

@CoralReefy69 very true 👍

I’m looking to get a reef tank, right now I have a freshwater 10 gallon tank.
👍🏽 it's a little different but I like it
Camel shrimp get large like 3inches plus. Why would you recommend that for a pico? Peppermint is better not great but better for a pico
Just subscribed man been looking at your last videos and they are great, right now I am trying to cross breed a lightning maroon clown with a regular ocellaris

I find it hilarious whenever you call a fish expensive. 😂 Everything you call pricy is twice as much if not more here in Canada.
Sweet!
Thanks!
What would you recommend for a 5 gallon
Two hermits and 3 snails
How about a video on puffer fish?
What website is that?
Hate to say it buy my first reef tank is a minicompletetank

Would a yellow watchmen goby be okay in a 5 gallon ?
No not really
20 gal - less is a pico 20gal - 50 is nano and 50 above is large
Thanks
Never heard that before always heard 5
Nano is less than 40gal. Pico is less than 10gal. Or so they say.

Depends on how well researched you are beforehand.
