    completely agree with captive bred and farmed corals rather than wild caught ones. appreciate it, at least some people understand.

      thanks for watching man! It's to see your channel doing so well. And for sure, I feel like its the only path forward for the hobby, especially with the fish collection bans that have recently been instated

    I know some people will think it’s blasphemy, but hey some damsels are actually really nice!
    Yellowtails, Azures, Talbot’s, Tracey’s, Starcki’s to name a few. I am personally getting Azures and Talbot’s for my setup!
    How about wrasses? Halichoeres wrasses are good for pest control and many are beautiful. I also love the smaller Hogfishes, Fairy Wrasses too.
    A Flameback or Cherub Angelfish would be a good alternative to the Coral Beauty while remaining smaller. :) Might be more aggressive but very pretty! I MIGHT get a trio of African Flamebacks depending on what I want for larger fish! (What I end up choosing)
    Shrimp and Goby pairs, Hawkfishes (might be more of a risk to shrimp and some larger species can eat smaller fish).
    Cool video as always Nate!

      talbots damselfish is one I'd consider for a reef tank, and cherub angels are great too. ORA breeds them so they almost made the list but I liked coral beauties better haha

    What about Azure damselfish? I thought they were the most relaxed of all damsels. See Azure damselfish less aggressive and ok?

    Damsels are very territorial. they are easy to take care of but you better be ready for a damsel only tank. I have a 29 nano. One damsel. He attacks everything to defend his territory including a cleaner shrimp. When I do maintenance, he attacks me. My husband finds it entertaining listening to me scream stop biting me

    • @StudioGhibletz

    I swear from this day forward to only purchase either aquacultured live stock or stuff from tank breakdowns no matter how tempting it may get! Many of the animals in our hobby don't have much of a chance surviving an aquarium to begin with and I'm so sick of seeing and hearing of people killing 5, 6, or even more of a certain species of fish inorder to get one that survives for a few months, or if they get extremely lucky a year or two when in the wild these fish can live three to four decades and then some. Some even have the nerve to claim success.

    • @StudioGhibletz
      @StudioGhibletz  Год назад +1

      It's also becoming more and more feasible to buy aquacultured. There's new species being bred everyday. As for coral or nems, there's no excuse for buying wild caught any more. You can get any coral you might want and get it from an aquacultured source. It's good to hear this by the way! Glad I could help inspire you!
