Here’s a weird one that I found to be really easy: the Walking Dendro. Bullet proof, easy to feed, and cool as hell. How many other corals literally walk around the tank?
My first order of coral for my new tank came in cold due to slow delivery...everything but one coral was DOA. Even the Green Star Polyps didn't survive. But... the candy cane coral came back from a small sliver of tissue about 2 mm x 5 mm. Now it's fat, happy and splitting. It's a very hardy LPS coral for beginners that doesn't grow so fast it becomes obnoxious. Nice valentini puffer fish btw, I love them.
Awesome. Love the warnings! 100% no difference between "weeds" and flowers. My BTA did the same thing to some of my zoas. Luckily the zoas were still on the lightly glued plug and I just move them.
Put a few coral in my first tank including a ricordea... Everything died day 2 with the exception of the shroom. Turns out my salinity was 1.036 lol... ooops. The shroom was un-phased. I got my salinity back to normal and learned a good lesson. Reefing is a challenging but rewarding hobby
Great video 👍 definitely agree with everything on your list. Pulsing Xenia are another great starter coral. They have a very unique movement nothing else in this hobby can compare to.
Thanks so much man! My goal was to compile a list of corals that are tough as nails. Beginners are so intimidated by coral because a lot of it has a rightly earned stigma of being challenging. However, some corals grow like weeds! haha You're like the third person to mention pulsing xenia and I keep kicking myself of not putting it on the list!

Thank you! I noticed that very few saltwater channels make videos for beginners. Most of them are geared toward mid-level or advanced hobbyists. So one of my goals with this channel is to demystify saltwater tanks and corals so that people can see you don't have to be a wizard to grow coral! haha
My toadstool is the only coral i have.. that is ALWAYS happy some way haha maybe once a week its closed for a hour or so and then opens again. and it grows like crazy!
Mushrooms...I have set mine in straight 3% peroxide for 5 minutes to kill GHA on the rock they were on. They bleached out, shrunk up to nothing, and I just threw the rock back into the tank. A week later they were back to normal. These things are beasts.
My bubble tips don't sting my green star or my xenia at all! I have a xenia colony that a bubble tip has taken up residence in, and it hides there. I have a pink bubble tip that sits right on top of a green star polyp colony, and it keeps the heads in that area from coming out, but the colony is still thriving without problems
If you have the right lighting, your pink cabbage corals will turn green. I had a 70 gal that became filled with the pink. I decided to cut it off the rock and exchanged those for other corals. What was left on the rock grew back green. During that time I upgraded my lighting from t5’s to T5’s with AI primes LED’s. My thought is that as a wounded leather coral began to repair itself, it was able to absorb the algae that makes the green pigment, and now it grows inside the corals. My understanding is that’s how those corals get their coloration. It’s algae growing inside the coral. The green and pink look amazing together.
This might sounds strange, but it is possible your water is too clean. Leathers kenya trees and toadstools need a certain level of filth in the water to thrive haha they need the nutrients
I can confirm that mushrooms are indestructible. My first coral was a purple one and it left its rock and floated under one of the main rocks. A year later when I upgraded tanks I found it growing pretty well under neath the rock. Now after being lost in the tank and half dead it’s thriving
I was being so sensible with my newly cycled reef tank.stable levels so added GSP, kenya tree, zoa's, paly's, monti cap, all cheapish easy stuff. One week later adds a £175 bugatti chalice frag 😂

I've got a video in the works about reef keeping jargon where I'll talk about SPS, LPS, GSP Montys and other slang used in the hobby. Also, my red shrooms are my favorite coral in the tank! Huge fan of them!
Hi there. Well I have a problem with green mushroom corals turning brown and only look green with pure blue light. What can be the problem? I though it was the water source but they kept like that even with new top clean water. Parameters are: sg 1.026, Ph 8.0, Nitrate 5, Phosphate 0.03 , calcium 560, Alkalinity 12, copper 0, iodine 0, I haven't chekcked the other parameters, but magnesiium could be 1345 according to my salt.
How does that valenti puffer do with the corals? I have a blue spot puffer and would like to try some corals. Crossing my fingers that I don't have a bad nipper!
Great video. One tip for your channel. When talking on the camera don't look at yourself on the screen but at the lens of the camera. I makes look as if you are looking at the audience. For the rest of the information it was a great content. I will grow some coral in the toilet see if works. Thanks.
My mushroom keeps going under my live rock! He loves to be in the shade, but he's barely grown since I got it. Do you have any tips? I have an AI Prime 16HD light with the whites set to 30.
My Kenya tree coral came home today and immediately started "wilting." I'm hoping he just needs time to acclimate to the tank! My parameters aren't perfect, but he said they could live in a toilet so we'll see!

I am recently getting into corals since 7-8 years of fish only tank so i am looking for these types of videos. Also i have a question based on ligthing.I have a 65gallon(240 liter) tank and the dimensions are 120X50(height)X40.I only have 2 T5s 39watts over my tank, could this lights be enough for soft corals?I really don't want to spend 400-500 euros for LEDs.I just want to keep green star polyps, ricordea mushrooms maybe a kenya tree and A LOT OF ZOAS( i love them haha).
hey thanks for tuning in! Ppl were growing corals under T5s for years before LEDs came around so you're all set. Also, the corals you want don't have too high a requirement for light so you're all set. However, one T5 should be blue atinic light and the other bright white. @@StudioGhibletz I have really no idea, maybe. Anyway, you just have to entertain me ;-D I never kept softcorals and started straight with stony corals. Because my first tank was only 60 Liter. Softcorals grow to fast and big and dont suit in nano tanks. Actually they looks only pretty in big tank. In my opinion, it make sense to me to start with easy stony corals in a small tank. You can grow cheap little frags big and switch later to a bigger tank. Therfore i never have no deal with "BEGINNER CORALS" which I want to get rid soon or later.
NO, it is not okay! It is not simple as just “plucking it out.” That is the most stupid and misleading thing you can tell someone new to the hobby. The Kenya Tree coral will firmly root itself into the tightest rock crevice to anchor itself. There is no way for you to **COMPLETELY REMOVED** its entire foot flesh. If any piece even remains, it will regrow. It is borderline impossible to kill. It is called a weed for a reason.
I don't think a bounce coral is ideal as a newbie coral as they can cost a ridiculous amount of money, in some cases more then a newbie's entire starter salt water setup. Also your puffy is not exactly reef safe, as it will decimate your snail and hermit crab population, which i think is not ideal in showing off a newbie guide for corals.
Are you a troll or just not paying attention? He didn't recommend bounce coral for beginners he mentions moving up to looking into more "rare coral" Which implies you are moving on from being a noobie. He Very clearly explains the skill increase and confidence increase before moving on to another coral. He clearly explains that mushroom corals aren't just cheap beginner corals and that you can EXPAND into other, more rare variants like the Bounce mushroom.
Xenia and cloves are supposed to be fairly hearty and also possible plagues.

Hey man! I have a BTA in mine with shirmp and have never had an problem. Some species even live in anemones! :D
@@StudioGhibletz Thank you for the video, i subscribed. Hmm now i just read of the internet that some shrimp like for example peppermints will sometimes actually eat BTA’s oh boy this hobby is tricky to get the pets to live together :D
@@jonasbergkvist1464 haha usually they are okay if a clownfish is hosting the anemone. the clownfish will protect it
I had Gulf of Mexico Peppermint Shrimp, and they hung out around my Bubble-tip. I now have a Cleaner Shrimp, and it is fine.
@@stevenmoomey2115 my clownfish chases the cleaner shrimp away if it gets too close to his nem haha
Nobody gonna say anything about my dude doing tricks with his clownfish, now that’s another story
hahaha Bingbing was a clever boy
It’s probably just molting or getting ready to molt when they close up for a while.
for sure! She's finally happy now haha be sure to subscribe if you haven't :D
Good to see someone else with a valentini puffer with corals 👍👍
Yep, I never had any problems with him nipping anything. Be sure to subscribe if you haven't. I'm getting a new fish room next month :D
@@StudioGhibletz Subbed 👍.
My guy only kills the CUC but never touches the corals. 👍
My rhodactis mushrooms reproduce like aptasia
yeah man those can spread fast! thanks so much for watching be sure to subscribe and check out my new animation content! =D
Maybe for you, what is easy for you is not necessarily the same for some one else. I for one can keep LPS OR SPS. But mushrooms, zoanthus cant keep them alive.
Thanks so much for watching! I pulled from my own personal and what I've heard a lot of other people say when I chose the corals for this video, but you're right, everyone has a different experience. Also, I'd really love for you to subscribe =D
Toadstool close to shed their too layer
Do you ever blink?😂👍
I'll have you know I've been working on that haha part of it comes down to how I edit a bunch of short clips together so it seems like I barely blink haha also, subscribe for more blinking =D
Theres a lot of gray areas here
Mushroom melt and disappear
Dam aptasia😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
toadstools shed off their mucus coat to clean themselves
Thanks! mine does that, but it seems to just close for a week or more from time to time. I've had it almost and year I'm seeing some great growth with it in my new tank. I'd love for you to subscribe to my channel by the way =D
My xenias got eaten by my blue spot puffer
I've been really lucky with Noodles. He hasn't so much as looked at one of my corals. In the past I've had puffers nip stuff out of curiosity, but thankfully they never liked the taste. Everyone talking about xenias makes me wanna go back and edit this video and rename it "top SIX soft corals for beginners" haha I still can't believe I forgot to include those on my list
lol @ yearn for the grave
You missed a tremendous opportunity to but corals in a toilet here man.
You have salt water in your toilet? xD
🤣
thanks for watching =D be sure to subscribe!
@@StudioGhibletz it was the title that got me.
@@Racer-M Then I invite you to check out. "Fish that could survive armageddon." Some indestructible fish to go with those indestructible corals! ruclips.net/video/5WaxUnjWCsE/видео.html
Mushroom are not corals. You have to withdraw from the list an add a other coral :-)
Is this your way of requesting a follow up video? :P What should go in the next top five easiest corals list?
@@StudioGhibletz I have really no idea, maybe. Anyway, you just have to entertain me ;-D
I never kept softcorals and started straight with stony corals.
Shame that alot of these are pest level spreads 😂
how do you not blink...little creepy
