  • Hey everybody, it's Brock and we got a brand new episode of All About! Today we have a new Top 5 fish for a specific tank size and we are going with a 20 gallon tank! Now this one is special to me because the very first saltwater tank I ever started was a 20 gallon marineland tank. What a trip that tank was! Sadly cannot find a picture from 2014, but I did find pictures of the first two fish I had in that tank though!
    ----
    A typical 20 gallon tank is 24 inches in length, 12 inches in width, and about 16 inches in height. This can vary by the shape of tank you get. Some can be more square, giving it a larger width and others can be more rectangle giving a longer length. You'll want a good hang on the back filter. Those penguins from marineland were always my go to. Get you a little heater for the winter that is graded for that size and even a small powerhead for flow. Throw in a sandbed about 1 to 2 inches deep and get a mixture of dry/live rock. You always want to make sure to put at least some live rock in the tank because the bacteria it has on it is going to help cycle the tank and also help the spread of that beneficial bacteria to the dry rock eventually turning it into live rock. 24 inches can get taken up fairly quickly so be smart with what rock you pick out. My go to in a tank this size is usually a little cavern on the left and an arch spanning to the right. That gives a really fun area for your fish to swim through and places to hide at night. If you do eventually want to get into turning it into a reef, there are a lot of options out there just make sure the par levels meet what kind of corals you want to get. Fluval, Current USA, AI primes, reef brites, all good choices to go with.

    I had a 75 in an apartment but it was a pain to move and lost all but 1 fish in the move, my mocha storm clown was alive. Threw the 75 out due to anger and sadness and got a 20 long. I have 2 clowns in there now and looking to get some fish in there. I'm glad I found this!

      I just upgraded to a 125. Fully built into my wall and plumbed into the basement for easy water changes. Mostly a softie reef but I do have some monty and stuff doing ok. Curious to see what you would choose for a similar 125

    My carpenter is very aggressive towards my splendid dottyback in my 60gal fowlr cube. I also have a blue spot toby and I want to add some cleaner or peppermint shrimp but am nervous he will eat them, what do you think? Did yours live peacefully with the cherry shrimp?

    • @BrockLeonard
      @BrockLeonard  3 месяца назад +1

      The blue spot I had , never messed with my shrimp, I also kept em well fed. But then I had a white spot later on, and I could not get him to stop messing with any shrimp I added haha

      Dont be fooled by cheap prices on saltwater aquarium or reefs3less(same Company) I just had 2 delivered dead yesterday and was literally sick! They were on sale for 17 bucks. Makes me wonder if they were dying anyway! Seemd dead a while and only refunded one of them because the other arrived alive but barely! I never spread bad reviews but If they would have kept their word and refunded me I wouldnt! They literally expected me to take a pic while it was still breathing and send it to them out of tank! I wanted to give the fish a chance!

      @@karennation3580 That's sad to hear, I'm not USA based or anything. I always buy my fish local ;-)
      I advice always people to get there fish even it's 4 hours drive up and down to get them at a shop.

    I am so upset! I just got 2 male flasher wrasse for 17 bucks a piece and both showed up dead! Damn reefs4less would only refund one because the other died in acclimation! Total BS! UGGH I am so surprised at the puffer choice! I love them but can they go with corals? Will they eat your snails? I have a big conch and trochus so would I be safe with them? How about hermits? Also I always loved fire shrimp but read they hide all the time! I also got a watchman goby from the same place and cute as hell! I only had a very tiny one and only seen tiny ones so I never had an interest but thias one is maybe 3 inches and so damn cute and even swims here and there! I moved my clowns because I thought 20 gallons was 2 small being the get pretty big and thick!

      Over the years we’ve seen them thriving in 20-30 gallons, so I wanted to include some color to the list!!
