love your videos brother, big help to a newbie. you're underrated
Thanks for watching!
@Lukas Dwayne don’t use my comment for weird shit
@Lukas Dwayne I believe password hacking is illegal
Thank you for your videos they are very helpful. I have been thinking for a while now on getting a salt water tank and it helps alot with tips and tricks for someone new!
I own a mandarin. I definitely agree they are difficult. Along with keeping my population of tisbe copepods up to par, I am also training her to eat frozen brine shrimp with so far, pretty promising results!
Your talking about the dragonet? How do you care for it? I am getting interested in the hobby.
@@romelcasillas2286 LOL. This video is to KEEP YOU AWAY FROM owning an advanced fish!
@@jordanbabcock9349 cb dragonetes are intermediate, they eat frozen foods
Awesome video! Great choices, and really useful for beginner saltwater keepers.
+Anna Rose thanks. Glad to see you back 👍🏻
Nice video man. But Why the pretty fishes alway aggressive?
+Dairy Adelphonse there’s a lot of fish that are very pretty and are and are not aggressive. Saltwater fish rule.
Mad Hatter's Reef cichlids are nice too maybe im just biased in dont know
Same reasons why beautiful women are.
Guys will put up with their shhh!t and they have to be sure they can protect themselves. But mostly the 1st haha.
Love my Achilles Tang. He loves to swim, and it's really relaxing too watch.
They are a beautiful fish :)
Might be a 4 year old video but is still and will always be very relevant. You have saved me money and more importantly those fish from starving to death.
My 6 lined wrasse is such a cute and gentle fish. So are my 3 striped damsels.
I love my 6 line but I may have lucked out
What's up Mike! It maybe be a female and thats why you haven't had any issues with it. The six line wrasse is a harem fish that likes to keep his ladies on the straight and narrow.
Thought I was subbed to you but it says I'm not. Weird, but now I am!
Excellent choice of fish .... I have a mandarin she’s so amazing 🤗
i have a six line, yellow coris, and a blue streak cleaner. all live happy together
Good video/list! I love my mandarin but wouldnt recommend one unless your tank is a decent size and well established!
+ReefDudes thanks for sharing. I sent you a PM on instagram btw...
I have the blennie for almost two years and his being super gentle to the others and the mandarin is extremely happy in my 175 overloaded with copepods so far so good
Thank you! For that tip I consider myself a beginner hobbies since am doing this for two years and a little
+CUBAN REEFER thanks for sharing. Good luck.
Thankyou, great information for me.
Your welcome!
You might be thinking of the orange spot filefish. From what I understand, the aiptasia files are actually pretty hardy.
Maybe
I feel like the 6-line is actually not too bad. I kept one for years and he never attacked anything. But he was the smallest one in the tank
There's always an oddball in the bunch.
I’ve been having my sixline for 2 yrs now in a nano and he’s nice to everyone very friendly
Nice vid... Agree with your choices!
+ReeferGil thanks Gil.
Love the Water Boy references and possible Longest yard reference at the end!
Haha, You're the first person to say anything about it. People probably just think I'm crazy.
I know this video is 3 yrs old but I still watch it not only for the info but........ YOU THINK EVERYTHINGS THE DEVIL MOMMA!! It gives me the laughs I need in these dark, trying times. I love your videos and wish you continued success in any and all ways possible!!!
Thats funny cuz I just said that in a video I pre recorded this week. Thank you for watching.
Can you make a video about the best salt water fish mates that you can house together?
That would be a good topic for sure.
I had a Canary Blenny he would eat frozen mysis shrimp and would swim away when I would work on the tank. Very hardy fish in my opinion but to each is their own.
Love your videos. I am starting my first reef tank and would love to have it
Thanks for watching!
Add a Mandarin when you have so many pods on the glass you forget you have coral.
Would love that pump. Haven't been loving the flow from my Sicce lately.
+Christopher Mole the best upgrade is a free upgrade. Make sure you check out the video and comment like and subscribe.
I have an Aiptasia Filefish in my tank. Very peaceful. I never noticed him pecking the corals. I purchased him when my tank was infested with Aiptasia and he got rid of them all. I recently just purchased a Canary Blenny. I had no idea he is venomous. Wish they had stuff like that labeled at Petco.
Oh my
Great video Jeff and I agree totally with all of your choices for beginners to stay away from. Now I have an entry to do..lol.. see you over at the other video..lol
Haha... Good Luck Scott. The winner of the S1 will be announced on next Sunday's video.
I live on the Mediterranean sea. I really hope to do video haw to install a salt aquarium from a local environment ...
I want to do this so i can provide a fresh live food for my fishes.
+Houssem Ben Abdallah awesome. Thanks for sharing.
@4:48 you said "Anemone" wrong lol got ya. Great video bud👍
You caught me, you caught the tater.
he didn't
Beginners should also avoid the Regal Angelfish and Moorish Idol because they are pretty similar to Achilles tangs!
A modish idol will be in my 300 gallon reef with two tangs and a clown fish? Also my long horn cow. Best fish ever. He’s at 6 inches now and eats everything. Also get beat up, no way, no one bothers with him, he’s all in his own mind lol
I made the mistake of adding a six line wrasse… killed all my fish in 48 hours and I had to remove half the rock to get it out.
4 year old video and not a beginner anymore but still the the refresh
Thanks for watching!
I was wondering if you have any knowledge of the peacock mantis shrimp thanks a lot of the vids
I don't
The mandarin goby i was weary with. My fiance wanted one. I did research on it. I saw the expert part was the feeding part. If you youtube it theres ways to get them to eat frozen. I feed mine frozen brine shrimp with a vitamin additive. I also every 2-3 days feed him tigger pods. Hes perfectly healthy and thrives in my nano tank. I feel my luck with this saltwater tank comes from freshwater experience. Ive had freshwater tanks growing up. I got back into back into freshwater tanks about 3 years ago. If you want a saltwater tank try freshwater first. Give it time and master freshwater maintenance and what not. And read up on it. I got a saltwater book for christmas and it helped me immensely and always research a fish before you buy said fish. 100%. Dont impulse buy a fish. It will be disheartening. Also i may add. I had 1 royal gramma and it was a great fish. Very peaceful. Didnt bother no one. Its died along with everyone else in the tank so after i resolved the tank issue (my car had a gasleak in the garage and fumigated my townhousr) i got a second one and he was the damn devil. He picked on everyone in the tank till they died then he died. Probably stressed himself out too. I have a firefish goby, mandarin goby, tailspot blenny, blue green chromis, and a yellow watchmen along with 6 hermit crabs and 2 turbo snails and that tank is thriving.
Anyone watching in 2019.😎😎😎
I am...
Me
Yep I am
innovation nation me
Sup
#5 with a bullet lol. Little tough guy. Has chased every new fish I have bought
+Dave's Nano Tanks rotten fish for sure.
Hey how's it going ???? First I'd like to say I really found your video informative & quite useful to my knowledge. Well I had crazy problems losing tons I means tons for fish. I'm not sure what's really doing it & odd thing is out of every fish in my tank the only one to survive is the 6 line wrasse. I had 2 clowns 2 green chormis & a lawnmower blenny my salt level is at 1.020 & is a 30gallon the more fish I'd lose I'd keep on getting more & yet the wrasse is the only 1 living. I have no clue what other tank mates I can keep with this fish Or should I just get rid of this 1 & get 1's that can just all live in harmony ??????? Thanks in advance for any info given ;)
I like canary blenies tho.😟
You just told me to stay away from all my favourite fish. I am going to be keeping the first sand tank ever.
I also would put the Domino Damselfish as a the devil.....
my cowfish is not timid, its the first to greet me when i walk over to my tank
Yellow Tangs & Achilles Tangs are only $15 where I live and I think it’s because I live in Hawaii. Flame Angles and Potters Angels are also only $25.
AquaticFury Lucky. Achilles are like 400 where I live lol.
Great video! Couldn't agree more with the choices. Question though, you said a very large tank for the Achilles tang, what would that size be in your book? I was think at least 6' and 200 plus. What are your thoughts? Unfortunately per my rulea my tank is 1 foot and 20 gallons short, ahh well, plenty of other fish in the sea.
+Patrick Hanlon Thanks Pat! I would say 200 gallons is the min. This fish doesn’t grow very large but definitely needs it space to 🏊
What about sailfins are they easy to keep
I’ve seen an Achilles tang in my LFS it’s beautiful but £345 people have asked about it and they didn’t want it cause it’s “expert” only
My 6 line is a role model
Will bristle worms work for the copper butterfly dude
Congrats to the winner!
+JAFRe 👍🏻yes.
I gotta say man, my Royal Dottyback was the devil also til the day he died. I’ll never own one again. Great video video btw.
+no name guy my mom had one that took over her tank good honorable mention.
Hey there M Hatter. I have a cabinet/aquarium base and a 20 gallon tall tank. I would like to upgrade but need a custom built tank. Any recommendations?
Please please please do a video on saltwater shrimps ,, there are how many ,,,, which is easy ,,,, which is not for beginners , which one used for which purpose
+Nadi Mian it’s on my to do list.
Mad Hatter's Reef thanks a lot love you badly waiting for that video
Here's to another year🖒
My mandarin outlasts my yellow mimic.. maybe the mimic got sick? Hmm
JUST SUBBED!!!
Awesome.
nice your video
Thanks for watching.
I’m guilty I got the 3 stripe damsel. He is the devil he’s right lol
Is he still in the tank?
Mad Hatter's Reef yes. I need to give him away
My 6 line has been great and is actually kept in check by some “peaceful” tank mates.
Mine was awesome for a year or two and Im nor sure if it had reached sexual maturity or something but there was an obvious change in a matter of a week. He became the bull.
So my mum add a fish that I dont knw what its name until I watch ur vid at 2:28
The Mandarin is the first fish I bought for my first reef tank........
+Hale Jason
♿️
My 6 line is very peaceful
You forgot Clownfish once paired, they get extremely agressive
Me female in my 220 is getting aggressive when my hands are in the tank.
I had a work trip over a weekend and my six line wrasse disappeared.
Oh no
3:19 is that Carrie reference?
Ocellaris Saurus it's a water boy reference.
No moorish?
I would like the pump for my new tank! and my devil fish is the flame angel 😡
Great... I just bought one thats getting shipped to me this week.
Mad Hatter's Reef Good Luck! it's a miss or hit Lol
I know they can develop a taste for corals which I'm going to be taking precautions to make sure if it is one that doesn't go into the big tank, But I'm not dealing with no punk!
Mad Hatter's Reef you can acclimation box with some corals for weeks to test it
Thats the plan
I won the light what do I do now
+Pete Mancuso I’ll send you a DM 😃
For some reason I can't DM you so feel free to email me at Jeff@madhattersreef.com
Madhatters I had emailed you. For verification I received your email through this chat
One everyone should avoid is the moorish idol
The filefish is not reefsafe and I only knew when he ate all my zoas and acans..
File fish bite!
Dragonet... O__O
Cheese!!!!
My female clown keeps the 6line wrasse in check
👍🏻
Don't even know how this fish swims 🤣
He's coping sssniperwolf in the "hit the like button in the face"
NO OH CHEESE!
+redstardustX yes. Cheese
Anthias are NOT stunning. They look like $5 freshwater fish to me.
Tfw you live in Indonesia and all of those fish cost less than 5-9$ *laugh in indonesian*
