Totally agree. You could do it like in Reach custom games and make a higher point of land and add some water and then put some covenant forces at the top.
Well it could happen if someone does it. Back in halo custom edition I remember playing a custom mission that was similar to what you're talking about. I was playing as an ODST getting dropped off by a falcon with tons of other allied marine and aircraft storming a fort full of covenant! It was amazing 😁
This is what I've wanted for so long, Invasion in Reach is like, 25% of the way there with the Humans vs. Covenant, but the lack of A.I and weapon balancing made it too unbalanced for the Covenant side to make any real progress, Spartans would always win the match eventually. A big map where the key locations are classic Halo maps, kind of like the Blackout mode for COD Bo3 (but obviously smaller than that) would be sick.
In my perfect world there would be a huge scale RTS mod for Halo 3 in the works. You'll command an entire army of improved AI marines, ODST, and Spartans, allocate forces, and plan operations with a given number of Pelicans, Warthogs, Scorpions, Mongooses, and Hornets on one of several Coldsnap scale maps. Both UNSC and Covenant form new units dynamically, meaning that if there are several chewed up squads of marines in one place, they'll form one new squad that you then command. They will keep fighting and attacking new nearby objectives that they know about if you lose track of or ignore them, and pick up any weapons and ammo they find when they run out (for the UNSC). You can also spawn as master chief anytime and go with into battle with your units as normal gameplay.
I'd like to recreate that Halo: Reach cutscene where there's just a horde of Warthogs and Mongooses (mongeese?) crossing a desert with a ton of banshees and other opposing vehicles ready to meet them head on.
The UNSC overpowering Covenant forces on the ground is actually fairly true to the lore, due to greater overall training in small unit tactics. The Covenant dominates in space, but the UNSC either stalemates or defeats the Covenant on the ground.
Also ballistics are just better. The horrifying injuries of plasma in the books are overkill, and the increased range and accuracy of ballistic small arms serve a critical advantage (one of the few times the books deign to stay true to the games!)
Now we just need marines pushing with tanks and the covy side to have choppers lol could even have a base with mounted rocket pods like they did on the storm mission. Just throwing in some ideas.
Man I've always wanted to create an all out full scale war on Forge back when I was still a kid. Now the modding community allows us to live out our wildest dreams. Forever grateful for this.
Oh wow, the large open battles with lots of units that was once only available in Call to Arms and MoW is now doable in Halo 3, like in the Reach test footage. That’s amazing!
god ive always wanted like a capture the flag like this where you just have two elephants or scarabs circling the map with the flag inside and the spawn points attached to each vehicle with a few AI, would make for great team battles. Its amazing that all these years later our elementary school dreams are coming true.
Maybe instead of CTF you make it plant-the-bomb, and when you succeed the giant vehicle dies, so a new scarab has to jump in/mammoth has to drive over It would be so dynamic. Maybe the old dead ones remain on the map?
My only hope now is that when reach gets these tools, we can add ai to existing forge maps, no need to recreate them. I have an invasion map that'd be so fuckin fun with a horde of ai at each side
Bro I never fckn understood why any Halo games didn't use their amazing campaign enemies and vehicles to create something like this, I played reach and the master chief collection hoping there would be something like this, essentially a mixture of Halo and Battlefield or Ravenfield but with AI who can actually competently use vehicles and shoot each other. I hope your mod goes real far to make something like that experience, it certainly feels like something the Halo games could of done and always lacked

Oh this is absolutely great, man, I may actually start learning how to mod once again, last time I tried I had this crappy laptop with Halo Custom Edition and every time I tried to make a map in blender it would bluescreen the hell out of it. I love these big scale battles but I wonder just how much can be done with more closed environments, halomaps had a LOT of fully custom singleplayer scenarios and people had these really cool mini-campaigns with multiple chapters. There's just so much potential there, man. Thank you so much for giving us a glimpse of what's to come, these are exciting times indeed.
Grew up playing single player forge because I didn’t have any friends to play halo with until I was 15 or so, this makes me so happy I can finally play forge and not feel lonely lmao

As a kid, i always wanted battles like this on various different areas in the campaign. This is what everyone is dreaming of in every game. Flesh out the scenery of epic ambient with constant battles that lets you use those corners and covers, those MG's and those high grounds and vehicles.. big respect!
One thing I loved were some of the landscapes with the scale of battles presented in Halo Legends animated shorts, Being able to more freely explore the battles between the Convent and Human forces (although perhaps, A.I.) was a dream for my small and uncomplex forge maps back in 2007. I love seeing creations like this, and what creations they may inspire.

@@cooliipie Better late than never 100%...but with Halo Infinite getting 10 years of live support this is coming at a strange time. Again, 5 years sooner would of been amazing because modding would of progressed SO far from then to now instead of the cool mods overlapping with Infinite essentially splitting parts of the fanbase and diluting the experiences from both sides.

You'll have a huge influx of newcomers trying Halo Infinite for the first time and won't be interested in the older games, while 343 hand the figurative keys to the castle to the most dedicated veterans who just want to mod and push the games they grew up with as far as possible.
This is the coolest thing I have ever seen in halo honestly, and it’s something I’ve wanted in every game but have never been able to get. A halo rts/fps hybrid is the biggest dream of mine. And I can’t wait to see this endless AI battle in different setting, like city streets or a wooded area of a ring. Hopefully reach gets mod tools because thats my main AI battle attraction. This is seriously amazing and the child in me is screaming. Can’t wait to play this.

I’ve been dreaming of a massive A.I battle that lasts forever for over a decade. with scarabs dropping in. Phantom & Pelican gunships fighting each other. I hope to god We can do this when forge releases on Infinite
What I'd love to see is modded Firefight for Halo 3 on custom/Forgable maps, you could even get a full 16 player lobby in the action instead of the usual 4 players for extra chaos! Bonus: I'd personally love something inspired off the H2 Arbiter levels, with Flood coming in from every direction and a team of Elites and Grunts to fight by your side. In fact, imagine an Infection Firefight where players who die join the Flood team instead!
This is epic, I love it in halo when they have a massive war/ battle and you see the unsc and covenant going all out with vehicles pelicans scarabs and everything, that’s why I love halo 3 and it’s scarab missions, and stop motion, it feels so powerful and fun

Nice video, thx! You know, having read the books a while ago it's implied humanity can hold it's own against the covenant in a ground engagement. It's when it comes to vacuum combat that the covenant dominate, and air superiority wins wars. Makes sense the humans here kick covie ass
theres something so visceral about the design of halo 3 and how it just goes perfectly with massive conflicts it really was made with one man, some marines and junk against an invading alien race, as in the entire legion of races

We just need someone to make a giant "Conquest" game mode akin to Battlefield and the OG Battlefront games and have the AI's play the objectives.
Each time you capture a control point a drop ship could drop in AI reinforcements. That would be badass.

it really was made with one man, some marines and junk against an invading alien race, as in the entire legion of races
