We make this called Aroz con leche. The way my mom would make it was she would add a cinnamon stick while the rice was cooking. She would then add milk, sweetened condensed milk, and evaporated milk. Sometimes she would add coconut flakes. It was so good.
Nice! :)
My grandma does that too, she'll cook it in the largest pot she owns, then put alot of cinnamon sticks. She'll cook that and serve it to me and my cousin warm. She's probably the best cook I personally know.
Same
Sounds delicious!!!
Yeah that’s the original, this is the white people way💀💀😭
Belgian recipe: make it like you but with cream instead of milk and add a pinch of saffron. Eat it topped with brown sugar. Sublime!
Awesome!!
Heavy cream instead of milk upgrades the dish 9 out of 10 times. This sounds amazing. I would have never thought to use saffron. I gotta get some
I didnt know that the same foods are called by different names in different countries..
We call them Bubur Manis (sweet porridge) here in Indonesia
Though we didnt use cream or cow milk, we use coconut milk instead. And melted palm sugar syrup for the toppings or you can mix them directly to the porridge.
In egypt we call it roz b Laban it is the same but you add starch and cream
Awesome!
In Brazil we called it "arroz doce" sweet rice, and we have a lot of recipes, we can put coconut milk, condesed milk, peanut cream, cinnamon, even ice cream and all recipes are amazing !
Awesome! So many recipes out there for this. A very versatile dessert.
This was freakin good!!!! Even just alone but i did decide to have additions and adjust ingredients.
For the literal 6tbsp, i used ¾ cup of milk, added tsp of coffee, then just cinnamon. I had no nutmeg or vanilla
It had a yummy cappuccino flavour, perfectly creamy. It served, I wish i made more- perhaps 10tbsp of that rice!!
Glad you tried it and liked it!
That my favorite dessert is rice pudding
Awesome!
It is called kheer in india. Just try to boil the rice in boiling milk, it would taste a lot better.😊
I have :) This way teaches you how to do it if you have already cooked leftover rice. Or from start to finish. And yes there are many many names for rice pudding depending on where you live in the world. Here in the US it is simply called rice pudding.
I was thinking the same thing in the beginning. It’s cool you can do it both ways. Going to make it tonight. 😂
So easy! Definitely going to try this but with some plant-based milk as I have a family history of Cancer and need to avoid all the estrogen in dairy--thanks for posting
Easy in deed. I haven't tried but it with plant based milk but it should work. Let me know!
I had some leftover Basmati rice and followed your recipe & threw some raisins, cinnamon & vanilla sugar.. 😋
Awesome!! Glad you tried it and liked it.
This looks amazing ima add it to my respices 👍👍
Thank you! Please do!
It came out Amazingly Delicious 😋 Thank you
Happy to hear that! Glad you tried it. :) You are welcome!
This looks like a good recipe. Thanks
Thanks! You are welcome!
We call it rijstepap in Dutch (rice porridge), we pretty much always eat it hot tho and I think that people usually use broken rice/dessert rice (short grain rice) for it. My mom always makes it when someone (or several people) are ill because it's easy on the stomach (we were always allowed to add a lot of sugar when ill as kids). I only had it cold/kind of like pudding when I was in Spain
Nice! Yeah every culture has their own version of it.
I made this, and blended the pudding once out of the pot and it turned out great once set
Nice!
Cant wait to try this!
Awesome!
Looks soooooo good😍
Thanks!
In India we call payasam/gheer, we add roasted cashew, raisins, Almond and cinnamon is replaced by green cardamom and ghee. Try it...
Awesome!
I think I have had this from an Indian restaurant
Thank you for this recipie
You are welcome!
Amazing I love it 😍 thank you for sharing
Thank you! You are very welcome!
Making this right now it seems to be taking a while to thicken but I hope it comes out good cuz I love this stuff
glad you tried it! Yes it takes a little while to thicken.
I’m also making right now it’s taking some time to thiken I’m worried it won’t come out good even tho it smells amazing🎉
Very nice recipie sir 🤗❤
Thank you!
In England it's just what it says it is good ol rice pudding and it's delicious
Agreed!
Hi dear ..this is one of the most popular dessert recipes of turkey and it is called sütlaç..
Nice! Yes each culture has their own name and version of it. :)
Me and my mum just made this following each step and it came out delicious
Awesome, Paul! Glad you made it and liked it.
In Lebanon, we call this "rizb (rice) haleeb, on it was sooo nice. Also top with extra cinnamon
Awesome!
Hey i'm from sweden and here we call it risgrynsgröt but i always wondering if this is a porridge
Awesome! I think in Sweden Rice Pudding and Porridge are used interchangeably, but in the United States they are definitely different. So you are correct! :)
Porridge is always OATS of any kind 🧡🧡🧡🌈🏴
Thank you I made it tonight on a whim.
You are welcome!!
Add raisins, nuts and some coconut If you want....Would taste heavenly..You can add cardamom and some cloves for better fragrance..Also recommend eating while It's cold... You'd like the taste very much..
Yes, lots of things you can add to it. As mentioned in the description box the link to the full written recipe. :)
Reminds me of sutliaš
Yes! Sutlijas is a Balkan rice pudding.
Yummy 😋
Thanks so much!!
U gotta try kheer
Will do at some point!
Yes it’s good
Indeed! :)
In West Bengal, we call it khiro. Khiro is my favorite!
Awesome!
Looks good
Thanks!
Delicious, I can't wait to try it. ❤❤
Thanks!!
In India, this is a sweet called kheer ❤ with added elaichi, ghee, raisins, roasted cashew ,almond and cinnamon
Nice!
In Maharashtra we call kheer... Tasty 😋
Nice! Tasty indeed.
In india this thing commonly called kheer and in added some dry fruits like almond cashew and pista we this ❤
Nice!
How much pre cooked rice? Or is it still 6 Tbsp?
Usually a 3 to 1 ratio. So 6 Tbsp of uncooked rice will make around 18Tbsp. Which is 1 cup plus 2 Tablespoons of precooked rice. If you use precooked rice skip ahead in the video to adding the milk. I hope that helps?
in norway we call it “risgrøt” because we’re just cool like that
Awesome!
We call ours soudibe, in Mandingo
Nice!
is it possible to do it without sugar?
Yes you can leave the sugar out. But it won't taste very good.
In India (West Bengal district) we call it Payes and we add cashew, raisins
Nice!
😱 making this right now.......... made a little bit too much rice for dinner
Awesome!
Mine looked yellowish but tasted good 👍🏻
Glad you tried it and liked it!
I’m not sure why, but I ended up having way too much liquid. It all worked out. I ended up using 3/4 cup of rice in total. It was delicious.
Glad it worked out! Maybe you put a little bit too much water in or something.
@@inthekitchenwithmattthanks
Welcome!@@larryfishkind5387
Would this make enough for 4 people?
Yes but they would be small servings. Depends on how big you want each serving.
How long for it to get thick with the milk
It shouldn't take that long 15 minutes or so
Can u use evaporated milk for substitute?
Yep!
We add so much more to ours lool
There are so many different versions of this, and so many extra things you can add, like raisins, nuts, nutmeg, butter, etc.
Does it really need vanilla extract
It adds lots of flavor, but isn't necessary.
I doubled the recipe and it took about 2 hours does that sound right and almost 1hr and half on medium heat
Still turned out good just took longer than I expected
That sounds like way too long, maybe you put too much water or milk in it?
Indonesia call rice pudding is bubur beras, but we make it with coconut milk.
Nice! Yes so many ways to make it depending on the culture.
I would love to make this, but we only have powdered sugar.
You can use powdered sugar.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt Really? How much would you need to use for this recipe?
Yep! Just a little more, use 1/3 cup instead of 1/4 cup, or about 42g of powdered sugar@@PyroBirdChris
That will be devine with cardamom sprinkle
Yes!
How long is it suppose to boil
Until it thickens, there isn't a set time. The time will vary.
Ricey
Indeed
as an asian this gave me anxiety hahaha. but i tried and it tasted great! thanks for the recipe 😊
Glad you tried it!! Don't let it give you anxiety, rice is eaten around the whole world with many many different cultures that grow and eat it. And they all have their own version of rice pudding :) :) And you are welcome!
For how many minutes shall i cook it?
Until it thickens. There is no set time.
Jesus loves you! Thank you so much for this recipe
You are welcome!
I cook it in milk from the start tastes nicer imo
Does anybody know how long this recipe takes
It takes around 15 to 20 minutes to make.
Ty
Can you use any rice or do have to use a specific kind
@@caleb3028 You are welcome!
@@caleb3028 pudding rice or short grain rice is ideal, but it can be made with pretty much any rice. In this video I used enriched long grain rice.
This is Pakistani or India desert known as kheer
Awesome
Naw. You NEED the egg yokes to turn it a yellowish tint.
Nope. This rice pudding recipe doesn't have egg yolks. There are literally thousands of rice pudding recipes. Rice is one of the most common staples in the world of 8 billion people and every culture that eats rice has their version of rice pudding.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt that makes sense.
Give it a try like this and see if you like it. It's pretty good!@@MattyDemello
@@inthekitchenwithmatt I will definitely try it.
I let my raisins sit too long😢
Darn!
We call it phirni by the way
it goes by many names depending on where you live.
Milchreis
This is "sutlijaš" actually...
Actually there are many many many names for it. Here it is called rice pudding. Sutlijas is literally Balkan Rice Pudding. Nearly EVERY culture that eats rice has their own version of it and the names change depending what language you speak.
😅😅Hello my friend, I have bad news for you from Turkey, you made sweet rice by mistake.
Umm nope. This is rice pudding. The world has 8 billion people in it and nearly every culture eats rice and has their version of it. There are many many many rice pudding variations. Straight from the source one of the largest produces of Rice: mahatmarice.com/cooking/how-to-make-the-perfect-rice-pudding/ which is pretty much identical to mine.
Definitely rice pudding and I'm from England lol
Nailed it! @@daniellestrachan8301
this is called kheer not rice pudding
Kheer is literally rice pudding. Also, the world has 8 billion people in it, nearly every culture has a rice pudding dish. In the United States this is simply called Rice Pudding, same with several other countries.
This looks like oatmeal
Kind of yes.
@@inthekitchenwithmattwell does it taste like oatmeal with milk?
@@anonymousstranger1679 No not at all. Rice pudding tastes different than oatmeal.
Nothing like oatmeal at all tastes like rice pudding and it's good I grew up on this in the uk
Bro I made it and it looked nothing like that
How did it look?
We used brown rice
And cuz I can’t eat cheese we put different milk
We used every thing but regulär milk and reugler rice
Well, that is the reason, you didn't follow the recipe exactly, that is why it didn't look like mine. @@Vzyo241
I used mac n cheese witg out the cheese. Don't try it
huh? you use mac and cheese pasta for rice pudding?
Who adds salt to anything yuck its ment to be sweet
It is still sweet, the small amount of salt enhances and balances the flavor. Once you learn more about cooking you will understand that. Got news for you, virtually every cookie recipe cake recipe, etc. all have some salt in them.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt i made doughnuts once and added salt a pinch and it ruined them, im sure they can be done with no salt
@@wkd0 so you made something once and think you know, haha. Yes, you can leave the salt out but that doesn't mean you should. Most likely you did something else that ruined them unless you added too much salt. Again once you learn more about cooking and baking you will discover the huge role salt plays in even sweet recipes.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt i also made pizza go me 😁👍thanks for replying
@@wkd0 Nice keep at it! And you are welcome!
Oh my goodness flavor that bad boy up
It was flavored :) But you can flavor it however you like.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt thanks so much for responding but it absolutely does look yummy and I love some good rice pudding!!!
@@sheag6200 You are so very welcome! :) Definitely give this one a try sometime. :)
