I love the portability of this laptop, the silver color of the chassis, the 16:10 of the display, the battery life, the 1080p webcam and internal mic. I agree that the display could have been brighter but at the price of $1049.99 it's not bad. This laptop is great for a student on the go or someone working from home. Excellent. I'm an old Mac guy, but my son is looking at this machine for university. He's had a Microsoft Surface for years, but it's starting to fail. Plus, we're fed up replacing the keyboard covers - they seem to die after 18-months or so. This Dell seems to do everything he needs, with , so I'll pass on this review and tell him "Thunderbirds are Go! Cheers
Andrew, excellent review. Really covered the main points. As for me, the screen brightness is a show-stopper. Really wouldn't consider anything less than 400 NITS. Would be very interested in a review of the AMD Ryzen version of this, the 7425 (Inspiron, 14").
@@switch-_-blade951 You should be very pleased with it. However maximum brightness of 277 NITS means you probably cannot use it out of doors in bright sunlight. Indoors, display should be of adequate, but not dazzlingly bright. It is a better computer than others in that price range. Another option might be the Acer Aspire.

I recently got this laptop as a replacement for dell inspiron 5410 that had screen issues that I just bought. I noticed there isnt a lot of reviews on this laptop. I really am happy with my use of it, on a day to day activity with no issues, and the fan doesnt go too much. My problem with this laptop is the size, in 2022 why is this laptop so big, and height, the dimensions annoy me, it is about 3.66bls and its a 2 in one so making it into tablet mood you would expect it to be smaller and flatter but its bulky. I am thinking of returning it!
Nice laptop for the price. Camera was good. Microphones sounded good. Like the ability to upgrade memory and other components. Display was fair but for travel it is good enough for most users. Port selection is good (Much better than the xps 13.4 inch unit you recently reviewed.). With different models of the same brand (in this case Dell) there are plusses and minuses. Users will have to weigh these when making their purchase decisions. It is nice when users can watch your excellent reviews of these different types of PC's and hopefully can make the right purchasing decision. Again another excellent review.
saw your review, bought ir now commenting from the same device, here in India you can get with 1255u and a mx550 graphics card with the pen in the package, for a student best thing. I upgraded my laptop after 7 years, using a 4th gen i3, its above and beyond!!

its a good laptop but the touch screen feature stopped working after a week of having the laptop, which was really inconvenient. it made the 2 in 1 feature useless. I called the dell support service and could not solve the problem now im deciding to either replace with the warranty or just return it. Hope none of you guys have this issue but like the comment if you did. They batter life is not the best either drains rather quickly 90% won't last you more than 8 hrs.

HELP! I took delivery of the 7425 (Ryzen) version this week. I don't think I'm happy with the color accuracy, saturation. Brightness seems fine. Love the configuration, build quality, 2:1, etc. what would be an upgrade screen to this for quality. Not really brightness per se. The standard touch version of this at Costco seems to have a much better screen. I blew it thinking this was the same screen as that model. It can't be.
Andrew, thank you for this review. As you said, this is not a content creator 2-in-1. In all of your reviews, I don't remember such low color gamut numbers or high Delta E numbers. The front-facing camera was not bad, the audio sounded fair, at best. The nits number was way too low, has to be at least 300 for this price point. Your score was about right. If I were in the market, this would be a pass. Keep up the great work on the channel. My best to you and your family.
6 - 8 years ago, this would've been considered a good display. But with the quality of displays in laptops nowadays, even calling this a "decent" display is a bit generous.
Hey, I was just wondering. Between the 14 inch and 16 inch versions of this laptop (7420 vs 7620), which one would you personally prefer considering battery life, weight, performance, or anything else?
I have this model and agree with the RUclips video. It's compact and solid, but the display could be brighter. I use it for at-home work, 8 hrs a day, mostly reading documents and spreadsheets, not art. One complaint and question: I use it in normal PC mode. I do not use it as a tablet or fold it into the other modes. Yet frequently it will start with the screen display upside-down. I don't know how to correct this, and it can take me a half-hour shutting down and restarting, to correct this so that the sign-in screen is right-side up. I hate this! How can I set this that it never goes upside-down again?
The 1255u only competition is the 6800U. you should have compared it to that. the 5700u is based on a zen2 chip from 2019 that costs significantly less.
Hey Andrew! Cheers from the other side of the world! I am searching for a lightweight sophisticated Laptop 14 inch like these one! The only thing I fear is the Brightness everyone talks about! My budget is $1,000-$1,200 for a Dell. I had 2 Lenovo and both started to fail battery wise! Bad experience! I looked at the Dell XPS but it’s smaller coming at 13.4 inch and much more expensive. Is this Inspiron enough? I use if for Work, and Personal use such as Movies, Navigations, Music, Family Photos. Everyone talks about the Lenovo Yoga but am wanting a Dell since forever.

My machine which is barely two months old won't let me scroll on amazon or youtube. The screen freezes, won't let me click on links and pops up a message that says, 'Page unresponsive, do you want to wait'. I am so frustrated with this machine. I tried to raise it to let the vents cool the machine better, but I don't recall this happening when I first used it. Could it have been a recent update? I am wondering if you have had any issues?

I actually just bought the 16" 2-in-1 4K OLED Inspiron. Gorgeous screen and the dark green colour is lovely. Bloody loud when the fans are going, though. Great value because it was £300 off for some reason.
I checked this out at Best Buy - the bottom panel is plastic, the lid and keyboard deck are metal (although the area around the touchpad is covered by a clear plastic material that tries to simulate glass). I have the Ryzen version (7425) and it's a good computer for the price.

you could try the Hp spectre or envy. or get the 16 inch inspiron it has a higher brightness at around 310 nits opposed to this 250 one

@@ericg6421 latitude is business line, Inspiron is mid tier consumer line and XPS is flagship consumer line.
Looking for the 14" to be a 4K OLED like the 16" 2-in-1.
Would be nice but for most people a 4K OLED on a 14-in display may be overkill and the cost will be prohibitive.
