As per the configuration it seems a best deal. Ryzen 7 7730U, 16 gb RAM, 1TB SSD. only con is display I believe. It is listed on Dell site for 550 pounds,Ryzen 5 one however is 399 pounds. I believe they are clearing the stock for the next 8000 series 😂😂
Thank you Lon for another great review. You really are a rare beacon of truth on RUclips! By the way, do you intend to resume your podcasts? The last one I can see is December 2022.
@@LonSeidman Such a shame. Well, thank you for all the wonderful content that you have produced over the years. You make my daily commute an absolute (and educational) pleasure.
No mention about battery size , so I guess that means something really small, like 30 whrs. Also "not colour accurate display" should mean about 60 % SRGB coverage. Both are deal breakers. There are other cheap laptops with bigger battery and at least 100% SRGB coverage display and above 300 nits brightness.
I’ve done Macs for a decade but hard to beat this value. Wonder if you could do some mods to make it more rigid. LTT modified their framework laptop like that during their review. Hard to downplay how much Macs have been held back. An Air with a 256GB SSD starts at 1300.
In the settings how much does it say is usable of the 8GB? it's been my experience, on Ryzen computers it will say 8GB ram (5.9 usable). I'm assuming that's be cause the dedicated graphics is stealing ram for it's video memory.
AMD Ryzen 5 7530U with Radeon Graphics 2.00 GHz; 8.00 GB (7.28 GB usable); 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor; Pen and touch support with 10 touch points; Windows 11 Home
Best Buy has these laptops available open box for less than $400, which is an even better deal if you need something cheap and/or want to mess around with Linux. Sadly, the lack of HDMI 2.0 is a deal-breaker for me as the external displays I would be using this with are 4K.
Random Plex question. Is there anyway to let a family member outside of my household watch media on my server for free? I have a Life Time Plex Pass already, if that helps.
@@LonSeidman I think that's what I did. Maybe it depends on their device type tho? My sister had a popup when she tried playing media from my server that asked her to pay a one time $5 fee to stream from my library, and the fee would unlock playback on all of her iOS devices. They also gave her the option to subscribe to Plex Pass. We ended up just paying the $5, but in the future I'd like to add some other family members and those $5 could start adding up. I'll see if there is another method like playing from the website rather than the app. I noticed there was also a method for adding other local profiles, but that requires them to login with my account and I assume its meant for people that live in the same house. But I am only having family members so I was considering this option if it works. Just worried someone might hit the wrong button somewhere and mess up the server lol.
You have to pay for the mobile app. It's free if they just stream from a streaming device on their TV, like a Fire TV or a Roku or the Walmart Onn streamers.
Thanks for doing the Linux test!
I have the same laptop, only except it has an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD. And it's in Lavender Blue.
How is your experience with this one? I was thinking of buying this one. Can you please share your opinion?
@@2vinay1To be fair, it's a great laptop, especially at a cheap price! That model only costs around $900 for 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB SSD.
@@2vinay1It's great!

I have the same too that I just bought yesterday but the fan is very loud. Please did you also experience that?
Thanks for the review. I love your videos 💛

Anchor/spotify dropped small creators from monetization so I kinda gave up on it. Might reconfigure things now that RUclips is doing rss

Please my trackpad ain't working, how do I activate it please
Looks like an epic price/performance product. I would consider this if i need something like this.
It is too sad that in my country it is almost 1000$ with 8gb ram.
Just picked 1 up from the Dell website for under $500 including tax and one day shipping.

Ich möchte diese Laptop kaufen ,leider hat nur 8 gb arbeitsspeicher .
Würden 8 gb arbeitsspeicher später für Windows 12 ausreichen ?
How did you install Linux on this laptop? I can’t get it to work.

With more RAM this would be a really good budget laptop.

Yes just make sure the server is accessible from the outside and you can share it with their Plex account

@@adamodonnell Thank you!
dude, you got a dell!
what is casual computing lol
Hobbled by the 8gb of what I assume is single-channel, non-upgradable RAM.
Lon mentioned that while the RAM is non-upgradable, it is running in dual-channel mode.
