    The truest thing about being a 3D1X2 is that you may never have the same job role twice in your career when you PCS. Be prepared to learn outside of routing and switching, if the equipment moves bits, then you’re probably working on it. That’s the best piece of advice for new recruits.

    Went through this tech school just recently. AFI stands for Awaiting For Instruction, basically you just sit around and clean all day until you get into the new school house between them.. Also the whole Cyber Transport Tech School is completely self paced OTHER than 2 weeks for IT Fundamentals and 2 weeks for Sec+. Basically when you start Cyber Transport school they throw you in a block one and give you the book and you just study and take the test block quizzes/tests whenever you want. There is an instructor in the class if you need help, but its almost completely self taught.

      Personally, if you want to get away from traditional IT "Base Comm" work aim for Intel, Support, Combat Squadrons. At least this way you can learn more of the cool Top Secret stuff. You can't really request a base/squadron but during Tech School you can trade with your classmates. You can google the squadron listed on your orders and gauge if it's something you want to do. I was lucky to get Japan so I wasn't letting that go.

    If you continue to make these video which I found *VERY* helpful in my job section then I would hope that you included more of the certs you get and how the civilian outlook is like!!! I know for the path I’m trying to follow then I’m looking at a solid *240,000$* when I get out!!! Working anywhere from corporate pen testing to cia/nsa and even darpa... I have been watching your channel a lot and i like all your great informative videos. I have been struggling with the decision of joining the military for 4 years and I’m turning 33 on September of this year. So, my question is have you ever heard about someone joining the Air Force at this age? And what do you recommend or think of me joining the Air Force at 33 age?. By the way I’m from Iraq and I have been in the US for 6 years I’m a US Citizen too. I used to work as translator with the US military in Iraq. I want to join the Air Force to work as a linguist. Please reply to me and help me. Thank you 🙏

    • @ainako1010
      @ainako1010 5 лет назад +3

      I joined rather late for active duty (at 25). So joining past 30 will definitely be challenging but not impossible, but many of the reserve/guardsmen come in late (asking them about their experience should help you out more). The difficulty will be relating to your peers as many of them would be under 25 if not straight from high school. On the plus side even though you will be older than all your supervisors they should leave you alone more often since you have more "life experience" than someone who's 18 and never lived on their own.
      PS Big note for you! Definitely look into a foreign language pay if you do not become a linguist.

      Hey Sam, I had a member of my flight who was 38, by far the oldest member of my squadron of trainees and he was also from Colombia. He did very well and I recommend being sure you're in somewhat decent shape prior to going to BMT (generic advice). On another note, your English seems great and that was the only thing that my fellow Colombian wingman struggled with so you shouldn't have any problems as long as you're hard working, optimistic, and you take care of yourself. Unfortunately I can't say how much more likely you are to become a linguist as the AF will provide you with an AFSC based on their needs, however I had plenty of linguists in my flight. Good luck and hope this helped!

      @Sam Nori. I turned 33 before I even went to talk to a recruiter. The age limit is 39. So you're ok. You're not too old to join. I past the ASVAB and went through the MEPS with no issue. I'm now on DEP waiting for my job to open before I ship out. So go and talk to your local recruiter and take it from there. For your record too, I'm also naturalized US citizen and the job I want requires a security clearance. All the best.

      How much time you're willing to invest? I mean, on the simple & cheap end you could look up basic computer principles on RUclips.

      Don’t worry about the job that much because you’ll be taught a lot about it at tech school (at least in 2017 when I went) and every base is different. So, we didn’t learn about voice switches and such until after I got to my first duty station
