Good video. Remind people to talk to a recruiter. They go through hours of training to be able to explain exactly how the ASVAB is scored. For example, the General Score and the Admin score are the two scores that determine your AFQT. You take the G score and add it to Twice the A score and divide by three. That’s your AFQT. Best way to improve your AFQT score is to improve your A score. There is I much more to qualifying for a job in the Air Force. The ASVAB is only the first step and, frankly, one of the few the applicant has control over. Also the job selection process is not as easy and straight forward as people think it is. Is a complex system that changes all the time. Only an active recruiter knows what happening at any given time.
I'm doing a research about The Air Force. The three things I'm good at is solving problem, creative mind and being interested in out culture/languages, making friends with from different countries easily. I always been good with people and get a long with people who don't speak my language or the other way around. I love saving problems and making different cultures get a long even though they don't understand one another language. My friends circle is fill with people different countries and who don't speak my languages but we're still friends some how. I hope in Air Force I get to learn a lot of languages even though I already know three languages and working on my four and fifth languages at memmont. I don't know what I have to get on ASVAB test to work with languages
Retired AF veteran. IMO the best jobs that crossover to the civilian sector and pay well are. Contracting, Logistics, intelligence, Financial Management. These are jobs that there are a lot of Civil Service opportunities that pay well. If you get one of these career fields in the AF make sure you get all certifications you can and get your bachelors degree that the AF will pay for. Once you have that, these jobs are plentiful in the government after you leave the Air Force.. Most are GS-13's that pay well over 6 figures.
Great video you broke it down and explained I haven’t seen a video like this yet ! What’s makes up the score for administration cause that isn’t really a section in the test called that lol ?
@@masakali1974 Wound up having a disqualifying condition on my record that prevented me from enlisting. All good though! I’m a double major in college now, so it all worked out in the end. 24 years. Tactical Communications, Medic, then 10 years as a Boom Operator, KC 135R. Pick your job wisely. Do your research. Bring your A game because we will take nothing less. Good Luck.
My asvab is an 85, and I'm in the process of signing up. The biggest thing for me is that I want to travel, so that is the primary determining factor for what job I choose. I have already done my physical, but I have yet to sign any contracts.
Hi! This is embarrassing to me but my last ASVAB score was a 42. Not that great at math, but was hoping to join the AF for something like a flight medic.
You only need a 33 to be in security forces. And your recruiter can tell you what else you already qualify for. But just study and do more practice texts and get your score up to qualify for more variety of jobs. You can’t beat the benefits such as 401K, free college, free medical & dental, rations for food and housing; plus travel. You will love the Air Force.
Your score is not permanent. When off duty people study and test for their next promotion. Chiefs are always willing to help recruits move up the ladder plus you will know people who have goals that are similar to yours. I flunked algebra twice in high school and twice in college. I hired a tutor and eventually got through it. I sailed through calculus and lots of statistics courses once I got through algebra. I earned a B.A. in Accounting.
i just got a loadmaster job. i didnt have it on my list or anything and i was actually against taking it before i did research on it and found out it may fit the lifestyle i want for myself
My brother is a meteorologist in the Air Force lol. Very strenuous tech school but a very fascinating job. He’s been in for two years and I am about to schedule a date to go to meps.. my recruiter sent me the afqt and he says, “it’s a meaningless practice test just take it as many times as you”. What’re your thoughts on this matter? Is there anything test wise I need to make a note of?
Your brother definitely has a really cool job! Regarding your question, I'd say study before hand and do your best on the ASVAB (from which your AFQT score will be determined) so that you can qualify for more jobs. Good luck!
Put C17s out of JB Charleston on your dream sheet bud! It’s the best airframe to have, I’m a load as well. Study, study, study! It’s a lot to learn and the tech school is fast paced

I'm sorry, Hugo! Luckily, there are loads of alternative jobs in the AF which are really freaking cool and don't need a TS. I assume you'll be pretty competitive for most of them since you scored so well on the ASVAB!
What are a few jobs you’d recommend are the best for transferring back into the civilian sector that will provide a stable income? I know there’s a few mechanical jobs as well as security forces and fire protection. Just want to see if there’s anything else i may have looked over? Anyone got some good suggestions?
Hey David! Yes, some jobs which immediately come to mind are of course security forces, mechanical jobs, and fire protection, but some others include Contracting (which lines up nicely with corporate merchandising and finance), Personnel (which lines up with HR, which all companies have), and Administration (which lines up with innumerable entry-level business job opportunities)
Anything Cyber Warfare or Intelligence are always very transferable to the civilian sector. Another is HVAC (HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING)

Can you do a video on the best medical jobs or jobs in general for future pre med students ? I know the job is not gonna determine my wether or not I become a doctor like I want but I do think it will help me get a head start on everything medical
Shooting for a 91 minimum. Only been getting 80-94% on my practice tests though. If I am going to be a linguist, or have a real shot at it, I need to do better.
I scored a 67 lol but in electronics I had a 87. I want to get into cyber. The recruiter said I qualified but I still feel dumb for getting a 67 but I'm 34 so yeah it's been a while since math.
I wouldn't put to much stock into the ASVAB as long as you qualify. I met some of the best Comm people with bad scores and some people that test well who had no clue what they were doing. And Michael is right the math gets all of us older people I took the AFOQT at around your age and all my scores were good except for math. Not many career fields actually use much math like they have on the tests.

Of course! My pleasure!
This is incredibly helpful! Thank you!

Hello Ma'am!! :D Thank you so much and I'll try to keep it up haha Hope you're well!!!!
Joining the Airforce soon. I am looking for a job that makes you deploy to other countries and is a good career choice.

My recruiter asked me to take them, not the other way around 🤔🤔
Most are GS-13's that pay well over 6 figures.
so at MEPs the strength test is 40-70 pounds for women and 70-100 for men. You only have to do one rep regardless of gender or weight attempted
Going to BMT next Tuesday for cryptologic linguist! Thank you for making these videos that have been a great help!

@@vagabond8460sorry bro but im glad you got it up
I retired from the air force 1977-1997. I was a 304X0. I don't know if this job still exist today. My MAJCOM'S were USAFE, AFCS & TAC.

Definitely buckle down and study and I'm sure the world will be your oyster! :)
look up grammar hero on yt!
I earned a B.A. in Accounting.
i just got a loadmaster job. i didnt have it on my list or anything and i was actually against taking it before i did research on it and found out it may fit the lifestyle i want for myself
my recruiter didnt force me to take the job i just didnt want to wait any longer by the time i leave i will have waited 11 months to leave for bmt
Oooo that is def a long wait time so I totally understand your call! Plus, the job is quite popular so hopefully it will be a good fit. Best of luck!!
Thank you so much for the helpful information! May I ask what kind of position you are in?
My brother is a meteorologist in the Air Force lol. Very strenuous tech school but a very fascinating job. He’s been in for two years and I am about to schedule a date to go to meps.. my recruiter sent me the afqt and he says, “it’s a meaningless practice test just take it as many times as you”. What’re your thoughts on this matter? Is there anything test wise I need to make a note of?
Many times as you want*
Your brother definitely has a really cool job! Regarding your question, I'd say study before hand and do your best on the ASVAB (from which your AFQT score will be determined) so that you can qualify for more jobs. Good luck!

I went to MEPS yesterday and i didn’t do that...
Passed the DLAB was supposed to leave Oct. 5th but for some reason they don’t wanna let me get my TS clearance they told me this week super bummed out don’t know what to do
I'm sorry, Hugo! Luckily, there are loads of alternative jobs in the AF which are really freaking cool and don't need a TS. I assume you'll be pretty competitive for most of them since you scored so well on the ASVAB!
Why couldn’t you get a TS clearance?
What camera do you use?
Literally any 3D job. 3d0x3 here, (cyber surety) and after 4-6 years experience you can get out, and do the same job and make $80k+
Hi
Which is a better and more laid-back job between personnel and aviation resource management?
Personnel to get a lot of demands and requests from people all over base but... I think it'd be personnel as compared to ARM but unsure!
Is finance a good career in the AF? Does it translate well to the civilian world?
What should you do if you get a 98?
Thanks much buddy for the information . Aspiring to join us airforce once I win green card lottery. If I may ask what does it take to be an air traffic controller

Math gets us all!! Super great you qualified for your ideal job field though :D
Thanks for replying. Did you have to pick two open areas when listing your job preferences?
I wouldn't put to much stock into the ASVAB as long as you qualify. I met some of the best Comm people with bad scores and some people that test well who had no clue what they were doing. And Michael is right the math gets all of us older people I took the AFOQT at around your age and all my scores were good except for math. Not many career fields actually use much math like they have on the tests.
I’m aiming for cyber as well and I’m 28. Good luck! I’d like to know how it is going for you so far
