it is a boost for basic animations, but to boost physics it's a really bad tip since you're basically killing of subsurf modifier with max subdivision on 0 in viewport settings

I had this problem whenihad a video clip played in the buttom and using some blender add ons , but with this method it fixed the problem
Though keep in mind this will reduce visual qualities significantly
