Second best thing to having been at the NEC myself. Thanks Ian for sharing this extended feature :) I might be able to make it to Birmingham next year - I hope.
38:23 my middle brothers best friend's mother had a company supplied Marina to help her in her job as a Ringtons Tea sales person in the late 1970's - within a week of taking delivery of the car and using it to sell and supply tea she opened the boot one morning to find it full of rain water with boxes of tea floating about - the cause: the boot rubber hadn't been fitted at the factory.
Another top video Ian. Tina the Marina brings up realistic expectations for and older car running to mind. Any car that has regular use will get marks that form part of the journey. Either self inflicted or by discourteous supermarket drivers that use your car as a door stop regardless of where you park. The first blemish is the worst but after that it's more a case of acceptance. Anyway a great report and thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your content Ian.I live in Tasmania and have watched your videos you made down here.Huge fan with a 1984 Nissan Bluebird 910 wagon with dodgy wipers lol that I have owned since 1995.Keep them coming mate. All the best.
That's my mk2 Robin that spent 11 years in a blackberry bush before I had it 😊 And whilst hearing that my car isnt the prettiest is like a dagger to the heart I cant disagree that the mk1 is the prettiest. 😂
Thank you so much once again for a fascinating show! My first ever (hand me down) car was a Triumph 2000 in the same colour as the one at 15:32. And not much better condition. I was 17 and it was 15. I remember in the rust pool at the bottom of the A pillars it grew mustard and cress completely naturally. I leaned a lot from that car, including how to change the head gasket single handed outside in the snow.
First Class presentation Ian, Mr HubNut! What a sight, thank you for taking us along, even with other (stand) duties. Love Tina The Marina and her story and got to say, the green metallic Calibra with golden wheels, that's a yes from me. May I add, I really appreciated all your historical background information and the all-encompassing 'vibe', very HubNut indeed and all the better for it. Thank you 😊👍
allthough i have been there 1 day and haven't seen everything, next year i come for two days...... thanks to your video i see what i have missed. very nice talking to you and thanks again for the calendar with the autograph. Polmini from Belgium
Thumbs up No. 500! Lucky me! Thanks for the 40 minutes walk through the halls. At least, at the end, while the horn concert I could catch a look into the Citroën paradise... Magnificient! 👍♥👍
Thank you Ian for as always fantastic information (I don't know how you do it). You have filled in some of the gaps that I seem to have missed. Thank you for giving Sausage a mention and the Women Drivers Social Club. We know you and Miss Hubnut are fantastic supporters. I hope the show was fruitful for you. See you next time! Clur and Sausage 😊
i think Tina is looking absolutely fantastic, to be honest. amazing job. Doesnt all that horn blowing n excitement at the end, hit ur heart throat and eyes. And i wasnt even there, only thru the medium of youtube. Bloody Fantastic
Great video, thanks. I managed to get up there on Sunday afternoon and only stumbled on your stand at the very end and didn't have chance to stop (to be fair, You and Steph were both there and were looking a bit exhausted, so probably could have done without another random bumbling up). I might add some of that merch to my Christmas list...
Thank you Ian (again) for the run-around the show: I'm sure you could've featured more had you the time. I saw the Mk2 Tranny van on Harry Metcalfe's preview and I thought it might fetch a pretty penny, but 40K +??
Seems every year, there's more and more youtuber cars there all with their stories behind them, ranging from many years of labour & love, to seemingly a few weeks from salvage to "roadworthy" (granted that's down to MOT & Tax exemptions!) such as Tasty Classics' (Ben's) Panhard, even Giselle being there this year having been sat with her face in bits for ages back in action and loved once again... :)
Back in the 90's I used to go to trade shows at the N.E.C and it's an absolute killer for the poor old plates of meat. If I was fortunate enough to visit there for the car show one day I'd need a council go-cart to get around hehe and I wouldn't know where to look as everything is so amazing! Gr8 job Ian!!! (those fleet mugs are very tempting).
My hat comes off for you Sir I’ve been an avid viewer since the Tuc collection. Which I watched almost as a back to back box set. Your in-depth knowledge overall , and particularly of the unloved is impressive given most people wouldn’t give these manufacturers the time of day and brush these off. Note to your PR department. How about Hubnut branded underpants for emergency repairs to fuel lines on MOT testing day
19:33 one of those 27 surviving HSR Evos resides where I'm from, in Trinidad West Indies. If I'm not mistaken, its owner is responsible for our local chapter of "Cars and Coffee", and brings it to the meets regularly.
Those short doors on the Kaiser Darrin actually slide into the front wings rather than opening outward (sort of like a "pocket door" setup). That's why they look unusual.
My Review of the Hub Nut Mug I just received. If it’s Tea or Coffee, Oil or Water your First choice is a Hub Nut Mug. A good sized handle so your knuckles never get burnt. A size so huge you rarely visit the Kettle. A Bonus the Hub Nut Fleet on the side to remind you that your Car could be in worse condition.
When I was about 8 or 9 years old our family car was in the shop and the 'loaner' we had was a Strada. 28:46 I remember the door pulls being like these.
Great report Ian 😉👍. Here in Arizona and New Mexico we have quite a few Brazilian VW's still running around here. Lots of those first generation Supras and just about anything else 🤪!
It was a great show this year. Giselle looked great when I saw her on Sunday. The standard of cars on show was excellent. I think everyone loved the Capri S in its driving through the cardboard boxes Professionals pose
Honda Zs in Australia came in a variety of colours. You could get a 360 as well as a 600. The Ns were called Scamps and were quite popular. They were sold in 360 and 600 too. There was also the Honda Life which was a 360cc watercooled car that looked like a scaled down MK1 Civic. They were quite rare, and I wonder if any of them have survived.
Great video Ian. Tina the Marina looks awesome and I'd really quite like a trip in her. Thanks for reminding me about Earlsdon Valeting. I have been wondering who to get to give our far from classic EV a bit of a polish. 😉
Thanks for a great report! Nice to see as this size of shows are not arranged in my country. Did not see a single Cougar in the Ford section, gives me more incitament to keep my -99 pristine :)
A brilliant show report Ian, a great variety of cars on show but my favourite car and I am biased of course has to be Sam's Mark 3 Astra the FOTU winner of 2022, mainly because he is from Edinburgh and the Astra was registered at a dealer that is long gone but was our local vauxhall dealer.
Great show report there. Giselle looks fantastic and I agree with Mr Pop Bang Colour about the Chevette. I've always had a soft spot for them, especially the 3 door hatch with the recessed headlights and silver hub caps. Great to see a surviving Alfa 90 too. I was sad for James Coleman after the issues he had with his.
Fantastic video. After you showed the pair of Ford Taunus', at 14.30 there's a wide arched 2 door car, which to me looks like a heavily modified 100E anglia/prefect. Is this the Archfab ( i think thats the name) car? Also the Triumph 2000 that needs restoration on the Triumph stand isnt that the first ever one produced as im sure that was the car in Practical Classics magazine. Great show, have been a few years ago, must go again.
The N600 was sold in Germany too between 1969 to 1972 or 73 when the petrol price rose so much unfortunately the import company had already disappeared. Before the N 600 , the importer offered for two years the N360 with 31 bhp at 8.200!rpm that was a sound like a lawnmower…
What happened to all of the Mark 4 Ford Zephyrs? My parents had one when I was learning to drive and I remember the sense of invulnerability from being surrounded by so much metal. Also totally agree about Tina the Marina - well done Steph.
Great video, lovely to see so many classics still alive and kicking. I found it interesting that you liked the Allegro estate, but not the TR7 estate, when to my eyes, they looked very similar. It would be very tough to pick a favourite, that’s for sure 😃
Great show this year and it keeps getting better. Amazing to think that early Ford Focus is now considered a classic - but where did they all go? Wonderful commentary as usual Ian... let's do it all again next year!
Those razor edge VWs were rare when they were new.I worked at a VW dealership back in the day.I worked there for about a year and in that time they only had one, which I believe was specially ordered for a lady customer.
4:03 Those spontaneous word fumblings that affect us all produce some right treats sometimes, "blub . . . heckham blazer". Maybe it's having had a low day, but the delivery of that line got a smile out of me. :)
Seeing the Mk3 Zephyr bought back memories of a mate, in the 70s he had a hot exhaust the back jacked up with big fat mag wheels it drove really well until he lost control and put it through a shop front, I was an apprentice carpenter at the time and my boss got the contract to fix it. Did it have a V6 or a inline 6 ? thanks for the great video cheers from NZ
Great video hubnut, before I was born I'm 54, in the 60s my old man bought his first brand-new car a C reg Triumph 2000 by all accounts it was a nice car . Dad also mid 70s bought a brand new C110 Datsun 240KGT don't think they were known as the kenmarie hear he also had another brand new C210 Skyline 240KGT and the C211 facelift version Skyline which were last Skylines sold in the UK for over 30 years. The Chevette HRS a friend of mine had his righten of within 5 minutes of buying it around the early 90s.
Yup. Far too expensive. Then and a hotel/guest house if not from Birmingham. General travel costs and food. Which at things like this is extortionate. £5 for a small tray of chips. £7 for a burger ( wasn't at the NEC, but this is a normal price at the car shows I have been to this year ) so easily £150+ per person
That short chassis F2 looking sidecar outfit looks a bit incongruous sat there next to the Daimler. Designed purely for racing but I'm wondering if that one's road legal?
So many of these cars from the 60s and 70s remind me of my younger years. Beautiful cars on display Ian
thank you Ian 🙂
Second best thing to having been at the NEC myself. Thanks Ian for sharing this extended feature :) I might be able to make it to Birmingham next year - I hope.
Good Lorde I love the Droop Snoot Firenza, just achingly beautiful!
achingly ?😂
Omg we missed so much one day is not enough.thanks for the bits we missed
38:23 my middle brothers best friend's mother had a company supplied Marina to help her in her job as a Ringtons Tea sales person in the late 1970's - within a week of taking delivery of the car and using it to sell and supply tea she opened the boot one morning to find it full of rain water with boxes of tea floating about - the cause: the boot rubber hadn't been fitted at the factory.
I enjoyed this year's show so much. My poor legs on the other hand were very glad to get back on the train.
Thank you from the XJ40 Register for the shout out! Hopefully we will be there again next year with some interesting and unusual variants!

Now that was an interesting walk through!
Ian, you're an online realtional database orator of 80's motors!
Thanks for that. Got a chance to see some cars I hadn't really noticed there. The show is just so immense to see in 1 day
That's my mk2 Robin that spent 11 years in a blackberry bush before I had it 😊
And whilst hearing that my car isnt the prettiest is like a dagger to the heart I cant disagree that the mk1 is the prettiest. 😂
Ha! Sorry Steve but those Mk1s are so CUTE.
Brilliant Ian. Regards Ian H
Thank you so much once again for a fascinating show! My first ever (hand me down) car was a Triumph 2000 in the same colour as the one at 15:32. And not much better condition. I was 17 and it was 15. I use Earlsdon Valeting to hand wash my 2023 Hayabusa. They are great guys, and do a fab job on it.
What an awesome show of great cars. Thank you very much from Fresno California.
Brilliant video. So many wonderful cars. I want so many of them Lol. 😁
👍 For Earlsdon valeting. Great work on Giselle.
Fascinating as always. So much to see, I feel like you barely scratched the surface.
First Class presentation Ian, Mr HubNut! What a sight, thank you for taking us along, even with other (stand) duties. Love Tina The Marina and her story and got to say, the green metallic Calibra with golden wheels, that's a yes from me. Good to see you. Glad you had a good trip.
I love your show walk arounds. Thanks for yet another stonker👍👍👍
Thumbs up No. 500! Lucky me! Thanks for the 40 minutes walk through the halls. At least, at the end, while the horn concert I could catch a look into the Citroën paradise... Magnificient!
👍♥👍
There are more Citroens in the report I did on Friday morning. Thanks for the gift by the way! Miss HubNut was delighted.
Huge thank you for the Daihatsu patch Martin. I was so touched. Such a beautiful thing ❤
@@misshubnut You're very welcome. I'm happy that you're happy. 🇯🇵♥🇯🇵
@@HubNut Thanks Ian; maybe I have overlooked «le stand français». I will watch it again... See you!
Great to see you again Ian! Joel and I enjoyed catching up and it was nice to reminisce about New Zealand!
Giselle looked fantastic. 🙂
Thank you Ian for as always fantastic information (I don't know how you do it). You have filled in some of the gaps that I seem to have missed. Thank you for giving Sausage a mention and the Women Drivers Social Club. We know you and Miss Hubnut are fantastic supporters.

Thanks for the wonderful tour my best wishes to the three of you greetings from Scotland 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Such a massive show of cars and nice to see you there Ian
i think Tina is looking absolutely fantastic, to be honest. amazing job.

Aw, we're always happy to chat, even if we're flagging a bit!
What a great video Ian, thank you. I did miss not seeing Ms HubNut though ☹
Fantastic coverage of the NEC 2023 in particular the Ford Hall.
Thanks for your kind comments on my Mk1 Escort Estate 😊
Thank you Ian (again) for the run-around the show: I'm sure you could've featured more had you the time. I saw the Mk2 Tranny van on Harry Metcalfe's preview and I thought it might fetch a pretty penny, but 40K +??
Nice to see the BL rally stand and the early TR7.
The green celica did look nice.
Nice to see the Japanese cars on show.
Absaloutly brilliant video ian ❤👍 absaloutly fantastic cars sad there no longer making them like that any more brilliant

fantastic walk through regards to all the different clubs🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
Very enjoyable lad, thank you much 😊. That last racket was surreal.
Thanks for reminding me how old I am!
Bravo 👏
Fascinating video, reminds me of my trip there many years ago. Only 2 seconds of Trabant though.
I don't know why, but I have a thing for twin round headlamps of which there were many in your vid, thankyou very much.
Awesome show, both Giselle and Tina are looking fantastic 😊👍

Wow. What a show!
Those short doors on the Kaiser Darrin actually slide into the front wings rather than opening outward (sort of like a "pocket door" setup). That's why they look unusual.
Ian thanks for a great tour, I loved seeing the cars of my youth, I haven't been for a while and must try to go next year.
My Review of the Hub Nut Mug I just received.

Allegro estate, my favourite!
When I was about 8 or 9 years old our family car was in the shop and the 'loaner' we had was a Strada. 28:46 I remember the door pulls being like these.
Excellent guide to the show Ian. Beats a lot of the others I have seen. Thanks for sharing your expert knowledge 👍👍
I was there Ian! I liked your Marina!!! 😊🤍
Marina was Steph of idriveaclassic - some adventure getting that ready for the show!
Great report Ian 😉👍. Here in Arizona and New Mexico we have quite a few Brazilian VW's still running around here. Lots of those first generation Supras and just about anything else 🤪!
Great show Ian. I wish they had classic cars like these in South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Definitely best Car Cave so far with the my era of motor featured highly.
It was a great show this year. Giselle looked great when I saw her on Sunday. The standard of cars on show was excellent. I think everyone loved the Capri S in its driving through the cardboard boxes Professionals pose
The Alfa 90 and the two 6s are the cars of the show for me. Plus the 1974 Bronze Alfa Montreal.
Most informative. Love the Kaiser.
Great videos mad day at work so nice way to relax

That's the one. Thank you.

What happened to all of the Mark 4 Ford Zephyrs? My parents had one when I was learning to drive and I remember the sense of invulnerability from being surrounded by so much metal. Also totally agree about Tina the Marina - well done Steph.
The Mark 4s have never really had the coolness of their predecessors. Naturally I'd love one...
Great video, lovely to see so many classics still alive and kicking.
I found it interesting that you liked the Allegro estate, but not the TR7 estate, when to my eyes, they looked very similar.
It would be very tough to pick a favourite, that’s for sure 😃
Loved the Ford's mark 3 Cortina & Mark 1 Escort.
A Hubnut car getting detailed? How un-Hubnut!
I think the Triumph range Dolomite, 2000,2500 were lovely looking cars and appeared to have nice quality and styling.
Great show this year and it keeps getting better. Amazing to think that early Ford Focus is now considered a classic - but where did they all go?
Wonderful commentary as usual Ian... let's do it all again next year!

Hubnut, you Fruious Driving and Geoff buys cars are the best shows period,
Dont know if anyone else has mentioned it but the Kaiser Darrin doors slide into the front fenders
Yes, on display like that later in the day. Most odd.
My car spotted by Mr hub nut! Peak of 2023 🙏🏼 shout out to the Trekkers 😂
Clearly the year of the Trekker!

thanks for the great video cheers from NZ
Inline six.
I thought so that's why it sounded so good
Please do a fiat Strada video if you can find one.
The wife and I diverted our route to go to Americana on the North Island. NZ
Great video hubnut, before I was born I'm 54, in the 60s my old man bought his first brand-new car a C reg Triumph 2000 by all accounts it was a nice car . Wow! The Kenmeri name was Japan only I think - a nickname because they were advertised on TV by characters called Ken and Mary...
The DS Decapotable was a custom two door body built by Henri Chapron and factory authorised... 1,365 were built between 1958 and 1971
Thanks for the video 😊At £38.40 per ticket this show is out of most people's price range these days 😢
Especially the Capri!
There seemed to be a distinct lack of 18-22 Princess wedges this year. 😟
There were three in this video.
Having watched your show report I'm wondering if, in future years, there will be a show for classic and modified electric cars?
I suspect so. There were quite a few electric cars at this meet...
You missed out the S2000s in the Honda part of the video 🤦♂️ there was a nice red and imola orange one.
Sadly, it's always impossible to cover everything or the video would be hours long! Hopefully next time.
Wow, fun show! Thanks for talking about the Jaguar 420. I have one. They're even much rarer here in the US of A. Only 976.
Wow! Rare indeed.
30:02 Don't forget that E plates were only issued for 6 months in 1967.
1080 resolution, steady on Ian
The tank in that volvo is probably for the air bags as its super low to the ground
you like stationcars but didnt mention the accord aerodeck? great vid anyway
That short chassis F2 looking sidecar outfit looks a bit incongruous sat there next to the Daimler. Designed purely for racing but I'm wondering if that one's road legal?
