15:10 - Yay Simone! I'd just like to point out that I beat Ian to an interview for the first time! I interviewed Simone on Friday and the video went live yesterday! 😂
41:20 when I was a kid/teenager in the 60’s/early 70’s, my friends next door neighbour had a black split rear window VW just like these. I never saw it drive but then I one day I noticed it gone ( maybe 45 years ago!) I hope it’s preserved and possibly this one! 😎
Thanks Ian from QLD Australia. Mrs Hubnut did a great job trying to follow you. You walked strait past the MGF and MGTFs without any comment. So many cars that didn't make it to Australia. Must go and see if I can find your test of the Carver.
I feel honoured and privileged that 510,000 mile Pasta the Picasso has taken my HubNut goodies to the Post Office. One of the HubNut stickers is going on Veronica the Vauxhall Vectra of Wombwell boot lid opposite "Veronica". The car met the strict criteria of good wiper action, several dashboard blanking caps, poverty-spec wind up windows in the back. 155,000 miles. Car cost him £600. With HubNut sticker £605. A fine investment indeed. 🎉
Thank you for the random ramble Ian and the HubNut clan. It's probably just as well I live in Oz because I could spend quite a lot of money at a show like that.
Missed the live stream so will watch the replay instead. Tis a dream of mine to attend this show as well as the NEC and Anglia Auctions. Not sure it will happen tho. Absolutely luv seeing the 'barn finds' section - tis always easy to see the pristine classics, but not the ones that ain't so nice. Bring on more junk please!!
Nice one HubNutters, I watched this all the way through, so many wonderful classics. My favourites have to be Ivan the Ital and TEECEE Cortina. Two cars that you would not expect people to keep on the road hence there are not many. Many thanks for sharing.
The MK3 Cortina estate. Webber twin down draught auto choke controlled by water temp. Had a MK3 with that fitted . Off came the standard Ford air filter with the winter setting. On went a oil dipped sports filter from Halfords and some baking foil in the front grill to reduce cold air. Sometimes on a really cold morning a shot of easy start. Auto chokes always liked one depression on the accelerator pedal and no more. Happy days with my MK3 2000L 77-83
Out of the 45 ish cars I've owned since 77 my Mk3 Cortina is still my favourite body shape wise . The days when young lads like me hankered after an American muscle car we'd seen in the likes of the film Bullitt , Mk3's and several others like Vauxhall Cresta were has near a British version you could get.
Ian, I remember the Austin Atlantic in the old Birmingham Science Museum. As I recall, the paintwork had a lot of "patina" to it. Happy memories of Sunday visits with my dad.
That Mini interior so reminds me of our old 1962 Mini Van. The amazing gearstick and floor mounted starter. Ours had wood under the seats as the frames had pushed clear through the floor!
My late dad owned a Jowett Javelin (late 1950s or early 1960s I think). Great video. Love that 1974 Vauxhall Victor FE the the Great British Car Journey has.
Hi great live, I know Simone with teecee the cortina 👍 I’m disappointed I couldn’t get to this, but open day at Swansea uni for my daughter had to take priority, annoyingly I was only a 15 miles from the NEC at one point on my way to Swansea 😢 Perhaps if she does go to uni in Swansea I’ll be over in Wales more and you may fancy a test drive of one of my fleet. New addition reveal on my channel this week, 1988 car but that’s all,I’m giving away, Thanks for the vid 🙂👍
Nice one! Ideal to spend a rainy saturday afternoon at home. I was on the Retro Classic in Stuttgart a few weekends ago. Mercedes and Porsche county. But at least some Citroën, SAAB and Japan moments. Thanks for taking us to the Classic Car & Restoration Show for 123 minutes. See you - Martin.
Glad you and the family had a great time at the show. Unfortunately I can't go this year but should hopefully be visiting a few other shows like the Festival Of The Unexceptional and possibly the Road Rail And Ale event at the Statfold Barn Railway, one of their many car shows along with drive it day and another classic car event. The Road Rail And Ale event covers all vehicles from cars, trucks, tractors and steam engines, plus the trains will be operating there.
Like a walk down memory lane through a 1970's or 1980's high street, when you could park on the high street for free. I watched a Simca dissolve as a child in the 70's. Blown engine and the owner left it half in /out of his garage and it just rotted away. ❤❤❤
@@HubNut hello Hubnut- I just wanted to point something out! I myself also assumed that "MicroHubnut" was female, because there aren't many long-haired rock stars, and so on nowadays - but you yourself had more of a hippy influenced longer hairdo in earlier videos! Both of you have really had the right hair for it. When I had long hair when I was a rock fan, mine really got frizzy as it got longer! Oh dear! And it wasn't possible for my hair to grow all that long, really, either! I envy your son's fine head of hair! It's really SOMETHING! Now you just need to TEACH him rock guitar, and get him into a retro band!
I think my old look did inspire him. He plans to get a haircut this year and donate a substantial amount to the Little Princess Trust - just as I did (and his sister a few years ago).
Thank you for the effort you all put into this video, I'd so much rather than watch 90+ mins of this than nearly every movie. So great to see mini Hubnut's enthusiasm and genuine interest. I'm with you on the liking of a Maxi although I personally prefer the earlier cars.
To Graeme. M e w. I I agree entirely about watching many "entertaining" standard 90 minute films! And don't even go there, regarding James Bond films, which are so long! They are they worst!
Thank you for mentiining my friend Alex' early Rover Sterling, enroute to the 2CV stand. Alex purchased the car from me a number of years ago. It is the earliest known Rover Sterling in existence, being car number 672 of 1-1500 pre production cars, all Honda 2.5 V6s, either in i or Sterling trim. The plan by ARG was to have at least one silver leaf metallic 800 in every UK dealer, for launch day back in June 1986.
That you caught the Carver driving out of the Sporting Bears area was quite fitting really, I went out in it on the Sunday because I saw your review of the Carver. Davy of Scottish Car Enthusiasts & Trains TV and myself also went out in a 2CV from Sporting Bears on the Saturday. You are a bad influence Mr HubNut! 😂
The Mk. 4 Escort RS Turbo in white is, in my opinion, the most beautiful car in the world. I've always lusted after one. I almost bought a red one twenty-five years ago, still angry at myself I didn't, as the prices have gone up almost twenty fold in that time.
Great tour by all of you, many thanks. The ratty Cortina Estate would be one of my favourites there. I like an estate and like to see cars carrying their age and life story with pride so a double winner. Nice to see the Maestro vans in evidence, too. Any Bedford HA vans there? Big fan of those, too, with hopes of seeing one on the channel one day. 👍🏻
Thanks for showing us the Barry Stimson cars. I hadn't realised before how many designs he had produced. His RUclips channel is good. Potential for you doing a video all about his work I think Ian.
Good to see Ian I will make it up here one day when my work commitments allow. Looking at the MG roadster with the O series got me thinking that one car the mg should have done in my opinion is one my mate made which was a MG Maestro 2.0 16v with the none turbo out of the rover 820 16v his was a really nice balanced car
Apparently the first was a Daimler in 1899 (though rear wheel drive), but some pre-war DKWs, the very first Saab and, most famous, the 1957 Trabant used a transverse engine with front wheel drive.
Ian. you have driven something with a fluid flywheel. Pete's RM bus. I decided to stay at home this year as you and Matt Furious didn't have a stand. And I worked out the cost of a ticket, fuel. parking, food etc could be better spent on car parts. Did you notice the Vel Satis in the auction area?
@HubNut That's OK. My niece had one that her husband drove, mostly, and it was pretty much as you experienced. Sat too high for tight cornering and was just, well, ughh. Shame, because the Neon it was based on was much better.
Yes, we got some Cabriolets here. Aside from some very early ones, we didn't get two-door Cavaliers (ie the Ascona) but we did get a station wagon, which used an Australian Holden body.
at 1:58 the Jowett Javelin, a car layout still alive at Subaru 4 cylinder boxer in front, frontwheeldrive. Developed with German engineering cooperation ,part of the development team was Robert Eberan Eberhorst the man who helped the Auto Union Type C V16 to bring its 520 bhp on the road and off course knew from the biggest Auto Union marque DKW how to handle front wheel drive…

Everything has been privatised, and somebody is making money out of us! From convincing the government to pay for faulty PPE equipment, to private caterers in hospitals (where patients no longer get big enough meals while the caterers are charging a fortune) to, I suspect, some kind of pressure on manufacturers behind the scenes to use plastic for seats, and someone will be getting a backhanded. great video again looked a great day out Great to see ur wife and daughter enjoying the cars!!!

Many thanks for this walk around Ian. All the best to yourself and the Hubnut tribe as always.
I can see me peering into a bronze Cortina at 14:45. Great to see you.
To Dave king - that bronze Cortina " Tawny Gold" is my favourite at tis show. Ford's fastest selling colour at the time!
Awesome seeing James and his turbo diesel. Been following the journey with that car since the start on his channel very very cool 👌
Thanks for the tour Ian (& crew.) I wasn’t able to attend this time, so your walk around was the next best thing 🙂
Living legend! Thank you Ian. The og youtube british car man

43:35 Audi Quatro, Suzi Qhatro's sister! LOL😁
Great walk around and commentary
My first and only new car was a Punto on an L plate. 55 with turbo skirts from the factory and Lancia HF turbo alloys. That avocado SD1 was gorgeous

HubNut livestream indeed!!
Definitely need more like this
Not there this year, so this is great. 👍
I saw a MK6 Escort saloon trundling around Gorseinon and Gowerton the other day.
There is also a MK2 Orion in the area that I have seen once or twice.

OH hello its our trucker friend , was available as a 2 door . was he are you sure 🥰😃
Amazing yet so sad to see all the glorious British cars and manufacturers that are no more 😢
You need to feed mini hub nuts quest to build a vehicle on a ride on mower chassis very rare this generation has that vision and is do able

These walk arounds are great to watch. So many variations on a theme. How do you remember all the details? 😂
The blue ford probe is my mates, it would be nice if you could have do a video on that, with you doing a one on the capri.
I loved seeing all the Ford's.
If Mini HubNut wants to build a road legal ride on lawnmower, you should see if Edd China will take him on as an apprentice! 😉👍
Really loved that show!
Great content again. Some amazing cars
It’s working ok
“Someone’s got the horn…”
Seen the perfect camper for you for sale locally to me ian……. Citroen romahome hylo but £7k…….. a tad outside the hubnut price range
Holes in the floor? Nah call it ample drainage.
Plymouth Prowler, not Chrysler PT Cruiser. Goodness sake, you drove one much to your disappointment. The cruiser, that is. 😁
Oh gawd! What a mistake to make. I did mean Plymouth Prowler but clearly it triggered bad memories...

Same colour as Amber's Punto but this one is even earlier.
Could have been Lloyd Vehicle Consulting or Furious Driving channels.
Hate to be the pedantic nerd, but the Mercedes @ 31.38 is a W111 coupe. All W108s and W109s were four door saloon cars.
