As someone who likes watercolors, I'm constantly confused about how much water to mix with gouache and always end up with either TOO much water or too little water. So thanks for explaining that! Hi! I love your work and I’ll be adding your shared artwork as my inspiration in my art journal!
    I used gouache for about 2 months. I have to say that it is a medium that i wouldn’t take lightly because of how messy it can get once it gets reactivated as you add on layers. I was at the peak of cursing and regretting on buying it, but since i don’t like it getting wasted i used and used it until i eventually got the hang of it. Now i use gouache as a highlight or if i want to create a piece that’s kinda digital like.
    Gouache isn’t going to be a walk in the park, it would take a lot miles before you can get used to it and of course with proper guidance like this video!

    • @VisualMind
      @VisualMind  4 года назад +1

      I totally agree! After a while you learn to use the fact that it's water soluble to your advantage. There is acrylic gouache though as well and I recently bought a small set - I'm very excited to try it!
      Water soluble gouache is probably best used for pieces with lots of blending. I love painting clouds with it! :D

    For me I think that the trees are sweet or lovely because you are giving the trees the same love of emphasis as the foreground. Henri Rousseau is worth a look as he also applies the same technique. He was a post impressionist painter in the Naïve or Primitive manner.

    Hi! I’ve just heard of gauche for the first time about 5 minutes ago haha and yours is the first video I’ve watched and your videos are beautiful! I’ve always loved painting and with the current situation I’ve had some more time to get back into it. I’ve been doing some acrylic and oil painting and I was thinking about purchasing some watercolour paints until I just heard about gouache and now I’m intrigued! Do you have any advice or tips? Should I stick to watercolour or try out gouache for the first time!! I’m quite interested by the increased opaqueness of the gouache!

    • @VisualMind
      @VisualMind  4 года назад +3

      I decided to go with gouache! I purchased the Himi/maya palette from Amazon and so far I’m loving it! I couldn’t purchase gouache & watercolour so I’m LOVING the versatility of gouache. You can paint like watercolour but with the option to go for a more opaque/acrylic look! Loving it!

      Holly great. I was just looking up the difference. Actually I already have gouache colors (used once) and it’s been many years since I tried water colors, hence I think I couldn’t spot the difference. I have been using acrylic past few years. 😊Thanks for ur reply though it helps. :-) will try gouache again soon.

      Thank you so much 😀 I honestly have no idea what this style is called! For inspiration I like look up "vector images" ... those aren't the same thing, but I think those ideas translate really well into gouache pieces. :)
