Love you all! ❤
I was already going to subscribe, but seeing the bit around 33 minutes where you add too much water and slow down to real time to blot it up AND THEN go on to say"and now I have more space for colour mixing!" I could have cried. I'm a beginner and definitely struggling at times with controlling how much water in on my page/work space, and seeing you so cheerfully fix the issue was a huge weight off my perfectionist mentality. Thank you!
I’m so glad I was able to help you in that way! This makes me so happy! 🥰 thank you sharing this - my goal is to always remind everyone that art is fun and making mistakes is part of the process ☺️
YESSSS!!!!!! Even if it's longer, I love being able to see you paint in real time. I'm definitely re-watching this to paint with you! youre like the moderm Bob ross :)
Aww thank you! 😭❤️
Thank you for your efforts :) I support this type of content and I like it very much 🥰

Yes!! 🥰🥰
I've seen a handful of your WONDERFUL, 'Studio Ghibili' inspired tutorials, utilizing Gouache. I can't even BEGIN to describe how much joy, inspiration, wonderment, and a slight bit frustrating jealousy...as I'm just starting out with Gouache.
Even though I have been painting and studying watercolor for quite a while, I have found that Gouache, (although similar to watercolor in some aspects) are simply a world apart IMO.
You make painting with Gouache look effortles. Obviously, this is a gift and a testament of your talents.
I have a question, if you don't mind answering for me. When it comes to painting with Gouache, how long did it take you, in general, where you finally thought or noticed..."Okay, I can do this - no problem..." and passionate inspiration projects, such as the Studio Ghibili paintings, (which you are obviously very, very intune with) came together?
I am very curious about this. As well, being a huge fan of yours, I would LOVE to hear your answer or thoughts regarding my aforementioned question(s).
Okay? I hope all is well and I HOPE to hear from you sooner than later.

Hi! Thank you for this comment 🥰 everything you said means a lot to me! To answer your question: Art was always something I pursued as a kid and when I took it seriously in high school I felt like I had to paint everything realistically and painting portraits was not my favorite so I took a break from art for a little bit. Eventually I stumbled on studio ghibli scenes and I thought that it was something that didn’t look too realistic (by that I mean like full on painting to make it look like a picture) but something in studio Ghibli scenes drew me in - like the whole atmosphere and the right amount of details to my liking. As soon as I saw other people painting studio ghibli inspired scenes, I decided to try it and fell in love with it! I love that I didn’t have to painting portraits or anything realistic which made me realize that I had an art style I preferred. So after that, painting studio ghibli scenes became easy for me since it was more intune with what I liked painting - meaning nature, landscape and simplifying details enough so it looks somewhat real but also a bit cartoonish. I guess the whole process took me my whole life to realize and now this just seems easy for me because I struggled a lot in high school to paint something realistically which I didn’t enjoy
Hope I was able to make some sense 😅 my thoughts are all over the place since all this thoughts and changes were very recent
@@daisydanyart Ty for the reply, Dhani. That makes perfect sense, I too started out at my art, thinking if I was going to do something that took myself seriously (talent wise) it would be natural for me wanting to paint every thing "picture perfectly with a reality that seemed to be perfect".
You know what I mean, obviously. I'm just juggling my words wrong, so it feels.
Well, one thing I was curious about was the Gouache. I still would like to know when you started using this medium.
I studied music, classically, all through my school years so I never took an art class in high school. But is Gouache something that was available to students in your school years? Or, did you discover that on your own at some point? Essentially, how long from putting your first stroke of Gouache onto paper, until you were able to control the medium like a champion?
My 1st and only Gouache painting was of a Kingfisher bird, which I saw a RUclips gal paint, so I decided it would be a good idea to try.
I wound up making a couple mistakes that I hadn't planned on - for instance the beak and the slightly intricate style in which the RUclips Lady painted the bird's beak, hidden wish I was completely following her example and painting the Kingfisher for the majority of the painting. And maybe a few minor things just went wrong and I sort of quit, before it was done. However, it was done almost completely so if you were to look at it it does look finished you wouldn't know that I quit without finishing what I had planned on and what she uses her example which I followed.
I later, on Instagram, showed an American living in Scotland who has a successful RUclips channel based on Gouache mostly, with some watercolor in her tutorials or videos...what she thought on the Kingfisher bird I did. That it was my 1st piece ever, but I got frustrated and quit, etc. But I asked her similar questions about how long it takes, how best to control the paint, had she ever used dry pans from, Caran d'Ach art company - because I used a little of that in my bird along with Winsor Newton tubes of Gouache....and she replied.
Basically saying that it just depends, etc. BUT, she did give me a little praise for the Kingfisher and if this was my first time, she said I did amazing and should count myself lucky and talented considering the fact my colors were well appointed, nothing was muddy, it was controlled, etc.
It was very sweet and a boost. But I did preface my initial question to her that I had been watercoloring for some time, but I find the two similar, but as different as Chinese food is to Italian...despite the fact they are both FOOD. if you get me.
Anyway, you can judge kingfisher for yourself if you look at my Instagram art account. But if you're kindness hasn't been exhausted yet, I would love to hear about you introductions with Gouache and then how many months, or years until you were painting like Miyazaki (sp)

@@Ancienttowers Hi sorry for the delay in response but for me I discovered gouache on my own. But in highschool I was taught how to use several other mediums to make art (acrylics, watercolor, oil paints, chalk, oil pastels, charcoal, etc) so when I first tried gouache, it was a little bit difficult to get used to it. I was using it the same way I used to paint with acrylic colors - it took me at least a month to get used to painting with it (I also watched a lot of RUclips videos to see how other artists were painting with it. Even after a month I would still make some mistakes (usually my mistake would be to make the colors look muddy) but I learn to accept those mistakes and learn from them. So I feel like it took me a year to easily paint with gouache and create paintings I am satisfied with. My advice to you is to be patient and keep practicing and if you make mistakes, remember that it is ok! (I make mistakes too) - just try your best to learn from them and keep painting! ✨
the best gouache artist on RUclips ✨
Thank you! 🥰🥰

I’m so happy you liked it! 🥰 when you get some free time you should definitely come back here and paint along with me! 💕
Very nice. I just started painting after years of pen and ink. But I only have watercolor and acrylic paint yet… Do you think I can do this with acrylic as well? Or do you use the reactivating feature of gouache quite frequently?
You can definitely use acrylic colors! they will dry faster than gouache and not be reactivated but if you are struggling with that you can buy an acrylic retarder so you can focus on your painting without fearing your acrylic paints drying out ☺
this video helps me a lot to learn haow to paint thank you so much 🤍🤍
🥰🥰
Magnifique et inspirant 😀
What I learned from this
1. Need to learn color Theory
2. Painting (Background first, Mid ground, then foreground/highlights/details) or (undertone, midtone, highlights/details)
3. Light position is important
4. Look at what colors are in the reference (bluer side or yellow side)
5. One bush at a time haha.
6. I need atleast 2-3 small brush and a pallette knife haha..
Notes for me haha
And don’t forget to have fun! And it’s okay to make mistakes and add your own twist in your paintings 🥰
I've been trying to study gouache technics and this is so helpful. Keep making real time videos like this ☺️
I’m happy this helped! 🥰
Where in Seattle do you live because I also live in Seattle. And I cant believe the progress you’ve made because I’ve followed you since 500 subs and just saw a comment on an old video where I was talking about your progress to 500 subs. I’m so happy for you! :)

Just ordered my first himi gouache set 56 colours and can't wait to try them
I started painting with watercolors but didn't know that there are no way to paint very precise details since they are watercolors and even if you somehow paint them they are transparant (thats hapens when you buy something with impulse and don't read information abaut them)
So beautiful
Thank you so much🥰
This is really good what the gouache brand you use
