🔸True but i think everyone regardless of country has some stereotypes about a country they don't know of. Cuz there are 180 countries in the world.& unless you've travelled there & know ppl from there, no one can be completely free of them. 🔹even if they were taught it in history books, they cant cover everything/update stuff & even if its checked online, there can still be stereotypes if source is incorrect. 🔹eg.some ppl regardless of country think lot of koreans look like kpop stars lol & sure many do focus on their looks in korea, tho not everyone, depending on where you go.but not everyone is gonna look like that.i got this info from webtoons/kdramas/articles/korean ppl & havent actually lived there so i could be wrong) but still.. 🔹& having stereotypes doesn't make you a bad person, just that know & acknowledge (if possible) that you could be wrong & say that you're just trying to dispel any stereotypes that you have.than just bluntly asking questions as if they are the facts & presuming someone's bad due to hearsay about their country without trying to find out more. 🔹& as long as you're polite, hope that other person wouldn't be offended. 🔹i do get the discomfort of being asked the same questions tho. 🔹but being racist like getting hateful looks/hate comments, thats a bigger issue & that too comes from social brainwashing that these ppl come & take our jobs etc but still just wish ppl stop doing it. No matter what country. 🔹theres one thing she didn't quite cover fully tho,she said that its not allowed officially but exists in older generation. 🔹but didn't mention that casteism (caste based discrimination) is still heavily alive in some parts of india especially in rural.& for urban area,in ppl that are of older generation some may still discriminate. 🔹& due to people not understanding reservation system young ppl are angry at each other too. So it depends on what type of society you've lived in. 🔹& i understand why she didn't say it tho,cuz it d seem like telling your raw social issues to other country.but just saying.

@@Ellianu stfu she literally said how other RUclipsrs make Indians look and Hollywood also has a hand in it You can’t control everything if foreigners don’t have manners why blame India for it
She's spot on about racism - there's more indirect racism these days rather than direct racism. Even in Australia, where I live, I'm facing indirect racism more often than direct racism. And it's not just white people, but also Asians, Arabs, and even Indians at times. I'm not Indian, but I get identified as Indian because of how I look. She's probably facing far less racism because of how good she looks. Most of the others may not be fortunate as her. So She's spot on when she said other's experience could be different. Where I'm originally from, we also have had a stereotype for Korea (probably before 70s). Shady, poor neighbourhood are also referred to as Koreas. That's no longer there due to economic development and my own people growing out of ignorance.
Let’s face it. You have this form of racism in every country. If Koreans went to India, they will face the same kind of racism as your own last paragraph points out. All of this to say that this form of behaviour is normal. It is normal to have some degree of reservation with regard to those who are not from the same region or group as what one belongs to. I think the greater anomaly is the large number of people from different regions moving to other regions we see today. This is what is causing the tension and is not healthy behaviour. It is far too frequent and in far too large in number today that it causes disturbances in the local communities and regions.
@@eufrosniad994 I think the benefits outweigh the tensions you are talking about. There are economic benefits of talent moving where the opportunities are. I'd also contend that it has benefits on the cultural side as well. These tensions are exactly what pushes boundaries and people learn to accept others that are different from themselves. I'm of course talking about legal and controlled immigration where there is opportunity to control the economic and cultural benefits and consequences.
@@RK-nq3fj You would be correct if economic benefits rank higher in society. However, as the name society itself implies, for a society to function well, it requires a high degree of cohesion and that tends to rank higher. Without the cohesion, there will be social unrest, rise in crime and hopelessness of natives etc. There are similar problems along culture. As you said, this can be mitigated by highly controlled levels of legal immigration. However, this also means that the immigrant population has to be necessarily smaller at any given time and assimilation must be favoured rather than retainment of culture of origin. The assimilation step does usually occur naturally when the numbers are lower since the immigrant persons will have to embrace the new environment and they cannot isolate themselves among their own group when it’s low numbers. In almost all cases we see globally today though, this has not been the case and we are seeing a large increase in tensions as a result. Of course, these high numbers in immigration have partly been driven by low birth rates in the destination countries. But, as we are seeing now, mass immigration is not a viable solution to the problem, even if it is done legally.

We Indians also have tons of stereotypes of Koreans. Half of them call them Chinese and other half call them North Koreans. No one in India knows about their Confucius culture, neither their history or about the Korean War or Japanese colonialism. Everyone just want to go to Korea because of Kpop and Kdrama. The Japanese are more overtly polite, but many of them may think the same things. It is actually better when people ask questions because then at least you know what is on their mind and there is a chance to provide a different perspective.
Japan is one of the most xenophobic countries. But as they are polite they won't show their real colours untill you invade their territory or have a bad encounter with them.
@@redeyexxx1841 life isn't always comfortable. Those who think it is must come from privileged backgrounds. But your statement is even more ironic in relation to Japan where workers are so driven to long hours by employers that they can't even produce enough children to stave off their impending demographic disaster. Where overwhelming pressure leads to hikikomori seclusion. Where male suicide is a huge epidemic. There's nothing particularly comfortable about Japanese culture. It's disciplined, organised, honourable, strict, time efficient, productive and many other good things. But it's not a comfortable culture.
She is so accurate in her description of stereotypes about India. Even here in Taiwan, the same kind of stereotypes exists, and these stereotypes are strengthened through repeated negative portrayal of India in Taiwanese news and media. The media here never reported how successfully India vaccinated so many people, helped other countries launch satellites, etc. but never misses to report any criminal incidents happening in India.
Taiwan probably would be more peaceful with China than interacting with India. Having those misconceptions is on similar lines with China Communist propaganda.

As a Pakistani-Surinamese watching this, it was really wonderful to see how much knowledge she has and effortlessly communicated it with full transparency and even sprinkling in different regions of India to show how diverse it is. Lovely. I think this information can be applied broadly to other South Asian countries since we’re all percieved the same way I feel and do have similarities. Wonderful interview 🇵🇰🇸🇷❤️🇮🇳
I'm from North-East India and I can proudly say that I've never seen people here being discriminated on the basis of their caste. People rarely talk 'bout their caste. I myself don't know which caste I belong to. It's only from books during my school days that I came to know about the caste system of India.
Varan and Jati which would roughly translate to lineage/ancestral occupation was turned into "caste" system, it was meant to categorize people on basis of skills not birth and it can be seen in other culture as well like Japan and even in Europe where surnames like Baker or Smith could tell you their ancestral occupation. When East India company arrived in India they praised the Indian education system and family values but after involvement of crown in the company you can see the shift in their writing, they start depicting India as very savage and backward place just to justify colonisation. Now, we are taught caste system in our books just how it was written by the British and as a result, many Indian think we were a casteist society for ages.
What she says is true around Maharashtra. Even when you're applying to state government's scholarships here they'd ask you about your caste tho they don't rely on it entirely, they would be usually focused around your family's financial situation but yes scholarships at university level here in Maharashtra are segregated based on caste as in different castes have different types of scholarship & according to their caste the income limit mentioned in each scholarships change but you also have some non caste based scholarships like those given to meritorious students & hostellers + the EWS quota ones
India is a well cultured diverse country. I like the way how honest she was about her experience living in Korea, i hope everyone does not get carried away in the hallyu way and be thoughtful about going to Korea and living there as all that glitters not gold. I hope both of the countries have more inclusivity and respect for each other's culture. Love to both the countries...! Love from India
Indians accept Korea but Koreans do not accept India - they want to be whiter than the West. You will NOT be able to sell Indian products in Korea - they import & worship only White nation goods.

She's very articulate and addresses challenging topics directly but kindly. He didn't shy away from asking real questions and interacted with a sense of connection. Well done to everyone involved here.
Loved the video ❤️ Just one thing : Caste system is not like what you are thinking. Infact caste is itself a Portuguese word and in Vedic Era(basically ancient India) it was referred as Verna System which means your duty or profession for livelihood or any other of the same kind. And Verna was not by birth it was by actions. A person who was educated, intellectual, wise and had spritual knowledge was called a Bharmin. A person who was engaged in Military and also Kingship was called a Khatriya. A person who was engaged in Trade and commerce , agriculture was called a Vaishya. A person engaged was was engaged in services (non intellectual services) was called a Shudra. And it was not by birth but by the choices one have made. But then gradually with time the other generation started opting the exact profession as of their parents and then the legacy continued. (And then started the discrimination.) And also even today if someone get proper scriptural knowledge from a Guru(Teacher) then he/she can become a Bharmin. Add on:--> the Britishers were the one how made the fire go more violent. They created more divisions in the society as per their "Divide And Rule" Policy. (In fact my Grate grandfather's title was Das( A type of Shudra Verna) but my grandfather's title was Chetry(Khatriya Verna)
It means caste system is not a Hindu practice then why Hindu people still practice it ? and it doesn't matter what written in religious books or granth but what is seen practically and practiced is matters. for example eating meat and fish is totally banned but now people doesn't care about this even many brahmin stared to eat meat.
@@graphindi @Graphi Kunal yes the discrimination is still prevalent and I acknowledge your Openion 👍. At ancient times we had The Verna System but we don't practice it any more. We need to eradicate the present or modern caste system (I am not talking about st sc OBC general etc) in our country. Still there are people who thinks as if they are of some superior Gene. And we can clearly notice these things. I have always tried my best (in individual level of course) to eradicate the mentality that still prevails.

As I have experience of living in India , India is big country multi-cultural multi-language very different , there is a proverb says if you want to see world go and visit India because of diversity in every aspect , population of Delhi is 30 millions and population of south Korea is 50 millions only one city in India is like a country, so every city in India is a like a country
And almost every 50 km our entire culture of food / language/ dressing changes. Our core value - ‘ each one of us is unique’ .,not that everyone is same
@@oneplus113T It does. In the rural areas more so. Even inthe cities same rule applies. Take Mumbai for example. Chembur has a large population of Tamizh folks. Dadar has Telugu and Tamizh restaurants. Western suburbs are very Gujarati. You donlt even have to go 50 KM from South Mumbai to these places.

I really enjoy your video which is very informative and clarifies stereotypes about India . Keep growing 😇 all the best "Eating food with the Hands not only feeds the body but also the mind and the spirit”. There the reason for eating with hands Improved Digestion Process , Increase Blood Circulation: Eating with your hands is a sort of muscle exercise that increases blood circulation. Unfortunately many Korean vloggers select hotels in Paharganj costing between US $ 5 to US $ 15. They only spend time in Paharganj and don't see any monument in Delhi. Then they take the worst train and head to Varanasi. In Varanasi they only show Manikarnika Ghat. Then they take the worst bus and head to Kathmandu. In Kathmandu they roam around in Guzri Bazaars and haggle for second hand products. They don't even visit Pokhara or Nagarkot in Nepal. They don't show Kerala, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Northern Pakistan, Rajasthan, Goa or Himachal Pradesh. Then in comments section there are Koreans abusing South Asian people.

What a wonderful interview having all points remember orderly is quite a hasle. She did it perfectly 🎉 It's also not one sided and an honest opinion she has, In india also there are good and bad people everywhere. it depends on whom you meet first. In my opinion if you are traveling to india and asking for a help to something than prefer asking in a order like Police Student(not street boys) shopkeepers elder person Ladies Gents & so on. Prevent going out late at night alone & more less in a solitary street & remote place. After following this you can explore a beautiful indian culture, places and people.
She told everything so well and quite correctly. One thing that stand out about her was how well versed and knowledgeable she was about most of the things like culture, caste, education in abroad etc. Its so rare yet equally very good to see
It's not cold in India. It's not difficult or uncomfortable to eat with hands. eating with hands is good.. increasing functionality of fingers. Food is not going to enter ur body through hands anyway
@@sheebaradhakrishnangrExactly. Rice has to be eaten with hand - right hand. Never use two hands to tear a nan or chapathi. One can mix rice with rasam/charu/sambhar/daal with hand better than with a spoon or a fork. No contest really. Same with dahi/perugu mxed with rice. Eating with a hand is the right way to go - any food. Everybody washes their hands and feet and wash their face before sitting down on the floor to eat. Eat from a banana leaf.
Regarding eating with hands, I agree that it depends on food but it also depends on where you eat. If you have food in your home you'll probably eat rice with your hands... But if you go to a restaurant you might use spoon to eat but I sometimes eat with my hands even if I'm in a restaurant, I'll wash my hands after having the meal that's it.. Edit: (I don't know abt other states but as far as south Indian states are concerned this is how it is, in many families)

Tbh, Americans get a lot of flak for being racist, but they are relatively benign compared to East Asia or Eastern Europe. These people 'want' to believe we are somehow 'inferior'. Negative media simply feeds it. To me, it feels like they are just looking for an excuse to look down. Eg. eating with hands. Seriously, what exactly is wrong with eating with hands? After all, I am not eating off someone else's hands. Even they eat pizza with hands. But again, they are just looking for a reason to justify their urge to strip someone of their dignity based on their skin color.

Atleast 90% of it! Because mainlanders have no idea because of these hateful actions other states has to suffer hatred, generalizations and stupid stereotypical behavior from NE and other states neighboring NE. Bengal,Odisha are one the living examples of that believe it or not
But when it comes to NE they usually gets away with it and always try to justify it. It's like "blacks can't be hateful towards other races only non-blacks can" these stereotypes of Koreans is also present in the minds of NE Indians because this and that happened in Delhi back in 2012.
That's no longer there due to economic development and my own people growing out of ignorance.
yeah but Indians are known fore direct racism. except for whites because you fuks worship whites
@@eufrosniad994 dont you get it? only koreans can be racist

I am Chinese. I went to South Korea for a business trip for the first time more than ten years ago. One day I was a guest at a Korean's home. After the meal, his wife cut some watermelons for me and asked me: Do you have watermelons in China? You probably haven't eaten it before, right? I was very shocked. I didn’t want to tell her that watermelon is one of the most common fruits in summer in China. I believe she meant no harm, just ignorance. So I answered her: Oh, what kind of magical thing is this? It takes a lot of courage to move to a country where 95% of the people do not look like you nor have the same culture as you. I like how she also mentioned how different people can look depending on where in India they're from. Piyusha did a great job by putting out a balanced perspective about India. India has been subjected to stereotypes and prejudice for decades now and not just in Korea, internationally as well so it's time this situation changes. India does have its own set of challenges and also surely has room for improvement in some aspects but that doesn't take away from the fact that India has an uniqueness and beauty of its own. It's clear no? As Indians we tend to always say we're the best, we're the smartest we take too much pride in ourselves..when the reality is not. We cannot stay humble when some foreigners come to the slums of our country and say that it's disgusting. And some Indians want to hide that from our identity..we say we compete with china..but do you know how far developed China is? We are lagging behind due to our corrupt government, bad policies, illiteracy and traditional mindset. Yes we are changing for the better but that won't completely eradicate all the slums in india in 50 or maybe 100 years. Let's not say india is huge..China is huge too..but they're government really cares about their people. Ours failed us. The privileged and smart indians also failed us..they go abroad to serve other nations. Meanwhile we're stuck with the average intellectual who are worried about financial stability.

I'm from North-East India and I can proudly say that I've never seen people here being discriminated on the basis of their caste. People rarely talk 'bout their caste. I myself don't know which caste I belong to. It's only from books during my school days that I came to know about the caste system of India.

FFS yaar, it’s called VARNA, not caste….you’re Indian and you don’t know about the varna system? Research it bhai

Just one thing : Caste system is not like what you are thinking.
(And then started the discrimination.)
And also even today if someone get proper scriptural knowledge from a Guru(Teacher) then he/she can become a Bharmin.
It's easier for them to use the western term and lies
It means caste system is not a Hindu practice then why Hindu people still practice it ? and it doesn't matter what written in religious books or granth but what is seen practically and practiced is matters.
for example eating meat and fish is totally banned but now people doesn't care about this even many brahmin stared to eat meat.
@Shreya even my grandfather changed his Verna and now my father and I follow the same Veran of Khatriya but my grate grand father was a Shudra.

Everybody washes their hands and feet and wash their face before sitting down on the floor to eat. Eat from a banana leaf.

100% agreed to every thing she said ! She is so genuine and honest.
Both the countries have their own diverse cultures... And I want all the Koreans to respect our Indian culture...And also I really want all the Indians to respect the Korean culture as well
Korea is not diverse at all. They all have very homogeneous culture and society consisting of Korean people, language and traditions. South korea along with japan are amongst the most homogeneous nations on earth
What you give is , what you get!
@kernel210 Nah! Read about Korea-India relationship, we have been hospitable but they weren't.
No we always respect other, but they think we are week.they misunderstanding our adhidhi dhevobava.they blindly belive that they are better than us.what a bad there are no one is better than no one, evey one should respected and treated well, in this case we do some good work
@@jancyjohnsonjohnson3909 Almost every foreigners did that ngl. It's high time we stop treating foreigners like gods. It' should be capitalistic now. You'd get what you paid for- either a good ol' Atithi devo bhava or rage
I am in immensely proud of Piyusha for doing an amazing job while explaining the diversity and especially the caste system. She did not outrightly reject that India indeed has the caste system prevailed from a very longer period of time, unlike many other Indians outside India do while explaining it. She even went on to depict how it is inculcated into the individuals right from their homes. She absolutely did not even try to sugarcoat the brutal reality. It honestly takes a lot of courage to do that. Keep flying high , girl!
When you have a complete midset for something to be true even if it's false (as told by many in your case about caste system) but still you needed only one person to speak the thing that resembled more of your thinking actually caste system was not there it was the varna system if you really want to know about it then read vedas ya from centuries people remain in only one caste as banned by indian government to change their caste and even changing caste isn't as simple as changing companies actually you were curious because you were trying (your mind) to disregard indian culture and seeing your owns culture as better which isn't and just trying to tell about indian culture it isn't the muslims of india just a matter of fact the huge muslim population you see in india were converted in the Mughal era either by swords or they rejected to pay tax as paid by non muslims in india during Mughal rule so to escape that tax they became muslims if you ask any indian muslim about their forefathers you would hear hindu names even hinduism originated from sanatan dharma and sanatan dharma dates back when humans didn't used to calculate dates means you cant calculate the oldness of sanatan dharma you forgot about nalanda University and many other universities which were flooded by foreigners from japan and might be korea who came india to study.. with due respect to your culture you'rs is nothing Britishers looted 45trillion dollars from india if it wasn't have happened you better know what would have happened
@@sumitrabhardwaj4120 this long a** para as an explanation to excuse un-acknowledge casteism an d it's evils proves that you are blindfolded by the religion and how distant you are from the rationality. Maybe if you could read the history the proper way and not only the materials targeted towards susceptible minds in the name of religion like yours....you could easily tell that Britishers had a huge contribution in putting a ban on numerous inhumane traditions and acts like sati and much more. And please go read about the Nalanda University correctly, clearly you are gaining your knowledge from some cheap religious preacher or a lame WhatsApp forward.
ay jungkook , i feel ugliness
i just wanna ask that dont you feel guilty of watching people who sugr coat everything like their face ,words and show them as a good person in their drama and in reality they are opposite of it like imagine your idol saying to i dont like indian people stay from me im not into kpop but just want a kpop fan opinion about this
@2K19/ME/216 SARTHAK JAIN you saying people converted other religion to Hinduism by sword , man that way there would be Hinduism in so many places other than India.. even we allowed parsis they are zoarastrians refuge , what are you saying? Then that way no jains or Buddhists should be in india , really ..
And who told india is brahminism ? They only 2%,
What we follow is varna system , and not caste ..
It was just distribution of roles.. and based on their profession and not by birth ..
Please understand that Ravana was a beahmin by birth but is kshtariya by profession..
Rishi vishwamithra was kshatriya by birth but followed brahminism ..
And that's how it was.. so you have lot of misinformation . Please go and read before commenting
She is so well spoken. Thank you 💜
Way to go girl. I have been telling this the whole time to my Japanese friends who have the same stereotype about India. I'm proud that someone else does the same. 👏😊
That's really good of you, well done!
But again, they are just looking for a reason to justify their urge to strip someone of their dignity based on their skin color.
wait till the number of indians keep climbing in japan and korea and then you will see the real side of us / real koreans and real japanese and we can assure you that you will not like it !
True, India is very multicultural and diverse country, almost every Indian is at least bilingual or trilingual, our food, skin colour, looks, attires all changes every 50-100km, it’s a huge country…and this diversity makes us naturally open to everyone.
That’s why west is more suitable for Indians to go, and Indian too mostly prefer to go there. West has become quite multicultural with lots of immigrants in last century.
Korea is so small, we can’t blame them for being so close-minded about a country like India.
I hope this video gets viral and more people from Korea watch it.
Such a good speaker, properly elaborated everything.
I am a real korean and I can tell you that we koreans , japanese and far eastern people have NO REAL INTERESTS in india and other parts of south asia and honestly YOU ARE LOOKED DOWN TOO. wait till later when the number of indians pile up, then you will experience open discrimination, open hostility and open bully to you and your children !
This is one of the best open hearted conversations about different cultures.
She was spot on correct.
The host was very understanding too.
