As an American who lived in the Philippines as an English Teacher in a Korean Academy for 13 years, I have experienced both Filipino and Korean cultures. I found this interview extremely interesting. I can sincerely say I respect both cultures greatly. God bless you both!

There's a lot of racism happening in korea toward southeast asians.Moy showed grace despite the attitude the bank teller did to her, It's just that Moy doesn't care if they act racist. She doesn't give an F and just focus on being happy.❤
It means most Koreans are not matured when it comes to foreigners especially SEA countries...they look down these countries thinking they are better than them in all aspects...well 100 % they are racists...are we filipinos have that kind of mentallity?..i don't think so coz all foreigners wether they are from rich or poor country but they are very welcome to our country not just because they helps our economy but we treat them as a friend.....well Koreans never knew that thousands of Filipinos died for their country during WW2 but what they know is only the american help them...that a sad story!...That is why they treat the americans almost a God.... they can lick americam asshole....until now they feel they still need americans because korean war was just halt means not finish yet.

Im a Filipino and my Cousin a Filipina Married a Korean guy its true they are responsible than us but they do lack affection, i relate coz after 2 years they went to the Philippines and Live here till this day 4years here, getting expose to the culture here he changed in a good way, the not talking to the neighbors is now turned into a True Filipino hearted one talking to every one lol so Clingy wanna hangout everyday. He became Affectionate too because he sees what Filipino do everyday life. From Quiet to Talkative but friendly. Koreans don't go here you will changed too 😂 jk.
Depends on the guy. My Korean husband is so affectionate and in tune with my needs. I’m Korean American though, so it might be different.

Same here in Canada. Neighbors don't talk much with each other. I think the reason is the cold climate. Who wants to chat outside in freezing temperatures!

I live in Canada ... it depends maybe? We talk to neighbours and they do the same but not everyday tho only when we see each other outside. We have quiet lovely neighbourhood.

That is correct. I missed my life in the Philippines. Things are very different in Malaysia. Life is simpler in the Philippines, and people are more friendly and accepting. Life might be difficult at times, but Filipinos are known for their perseverance.

One reason why Moy was more accepted by Koreans is probably because she doesn’t have the typical looks of a Southeast Asian - she’s tall, chinky-eyed, slim and fair-skinned - and she speaks Korean. She probably could visually pass as a Korean. Please continue having these discussions. They’re pretty interesting.

@@Moss_pigletsi don't think racism was that deep within Filipino Culture. For first impression, there's definitely a boost if you're of the fairer skin but after that there's really nothing much. If you're a good person then you'd be treated as such. Even if you're of a darker complexion, if you take care of your skin, you'd still get the same type of affection as the other. This is because people tend to judge others based on physical attributes. Pinoys still love "Morena" beauty!
@@joshrillo "racism was not deep within Filipino culture"....either you are unaware or just in denial. Most Filipinos are uneducated about racism. It's even evident in the media. Some Filipinos are racist not out of supremacy but definitely out of ignorance and curiosity. Colonial mentality is well and alive in terms of beauty standards, general ignorance of what is/isn't ok to say( hello Jose manalo!) and the need to put down other races/marginalized groups are things that can be improved on.

Colonial mentality is alive and well in terms of beauty standards, there's a lack of awareness regarding what should be and isn't said, putting down other races and marginalized groups and there is definitely a big problem with Filipinos who have darker skin. Colorism is strong in the Philippines. If it's not then billboards will be covered with people of different shades but aren't and skin whitening soaps would be non-existent.
@@Moss_piglets Pinoys are now aware of the existence of other races different from them. I don't think there's really any racial hatred in this country. If there is really a divide, I don't think it is racially driven but Culturally. People who are not used to seeing such appearance tend to gravitate their liking towards such just like how Americans like the "exotic" (for filipinos) looking girls rather than the "traditional" good looking girls. The beauty market is indeed full of lightening products but let's not pretend that there weren't a lot successful actors/actresses who have that darker/morena skintone. The biggest actresses of the past decade were of morena complexion such as Kathryn, Nadine, and Maine Medoza. Let's also think about how Filipinos love the Japanese nowadays. Just a few decades ago, they were our sworn enemies but look at us now.

My Dad was such an amazing father and grandfather. He's everybody's dad and grandpa. Very responsible, very family oriented, very loving man as a person. That goes to my brothers, my brother-in-law. I know a lot of filipino men who are like my dad who might have lack the wealth but are hardworkers, responsible, thoughtful and loving. Of course, I'm from a different generation and have been away from my home country for many years time might have change now from what or how are filipino used to be, but at the end of the day it all boils down to the upbringing -- mine isn't faultless but I wouldn't change it for the world.
I'm a UNIS fan and Hyeonju who's a member there is half-Filipino and half-Korean. When asked how many Filipinos were there in the group, they always answered two. This is probably the reason why she doesn't really openly claim her Filipino blood here and there, to avoid getting bullied. Occasionally she mentioned it but most of the time, Korean is much known about her (and the fact that she grew up in Korea bruh)
