Personally, I would like to see you adapt this save to 1.0 as I feel almost everyone is going to be doing a fresh start. I'll watch either way :) Also Snutt confirmed in their last video that Phase 5 and Tier 9 will be added and he included the adjusted Phase 4 amounts
Really enjoyed the speed and progress in this episode. I like to hear your take on new ideas rather than reiterating simple concepts that you have done many times in this series, such as hooking up machines. Your logic and blueprint building skills are my favorite part + minimal aesthetic with lots of transport infrastructure. People must be comparing you to other streamers when saying your builds are medium sized, these factories are huge. I would guess that 99% of players would never be able to complete the game at this scale because of the hours and pc specs needed.
Great playthrough Darren! Binged the whole series after hearing 1.0 is coming and wanting a refresher before starting the game again. Just couldn't stop watching. I'd keep going if the changes don't cause too much chaos but either way, I'll watch.
Maybe you can make a poll for this? I personally would prefer you continuing with this save. Reason being: Fresh starts will be all over the place, so the only thing seeing new with fesh starts is the story part. Everyone has its own build style with this game and I really enjoy yours and would rather like to see how you takle the endgame with this save, than seeing the early gameplay again, that I most certanly will play myself or see on youtube. Also besides Story there are not that many mechanical changes to the game and with little time I most often saw the ealy phase but may never get to nuclear power until the next update (in this case release), because I am a typical restarter xD.
Spent 80hrs on my first coal power plant, versatile framework, and automated wiring factory--and it's all done! Thank you so much for the walk-through, felt awesome getting all the T4 milestones done in one sweep. The only downside it seems is now I have to immediately start building fuel & quartz set-ups, and the aesthetic is crazy for your builds! Making me realize I made a Minecraft house instead of a factory lol
I personally think you should start over with the new update - ride the wave of new starts. You could mix it up by starting in a new region you havent done before but then at the same time - new players could be looking for people playing in the same starter region as them (grassy fields) Do what you think is right, ill be here to watch no matter what :)
I really love your individual factories vs a mega factory, and would love to see you continue with this save, with simply any of the new gameplay or features implemented.
As you're the only Satisfactory youtuber I enjoy, I'm cool with either. If you adapt this save to 1.0, ill watch. If you start over, I would recommend starting in Northern Forest, there is a really nice starting spot with 4 pure iron, a pure limestone, and 2 pure copper near eachother. With another pure limestone, 2 pure quartz, and a pure coal nearby. Edit: They’re moving the quartz, and coal. But still a good spot
2nd comment as the first was about the 1.0 thing; I really like how in this episode you have sped up and cut a bit more out but explain and show just enough to follow along, this feels like a good pace. Makes sense with the factories getting bigger!
If you stick with this save, youd have a large load of logistics work, bringing the moved and downgraded nodes to your factories, but other than a few episodes of corrections, you could continue it. The downside is youd miss the initial surge new playthroughs with 1.0 and might miss riding that wave.
I personally really hope you're continuing this save, if not too much changes happen once we know more! It's been a blast to build along and i feel like this is too early in the game still to be starting over again already. Whatever you choose, love the videos keep it up! ❤
A poll would defintly be a good idea here! I do love this series but wouldn't be opposed if you were to start again with a megabase. Whole different playstyle with a different set of challenges!
Hey Darren, Just finished binge watching the whole series! Great stuff! I would say that starting fresh will be better for you, your channel and pace of life (At least until you have to gone through your current footage and caught up to this U8 playthrough). You have the plans and blueprints up to this point all sorted out. That means your next playthrough will be a lot smoother. You can even tweak some content next time around to make them a little user friendlier to follow. (Yes, the CoalPlant and CC mega builds in early game). Maybe keep your original plans, but toon down the implementation to what is actually producible and not plomp down so many at once? Up to you sensei. ;) Use the footage created in this series to give yourself a bit of a buffer (Better for your health) and a head start on the rest of the pack. TotalXclipse will also be starting a new play though. I'll probably follow both of you guys. It would be nice if you guys started in different locations. Even if that means not being able to use all of your previous footage. Continuing or restarting is also contingent on how many old players will be returning, new players are expected to join, or if all us Satisfactory degens, are all there will be. I don't know how you'll juggle Cities Skylines 2 and Anno 1800 when 1.0 comes out. Good luck !! I'll be tuning in, regardless of which way you go. Keep up the great content!! :D
You could set up basic component factories near ore sites and ship the parts to a central grand assembly hub spire with the space elevator at the top. This would require you to rely heavily on logistics making building and designing enjoyable to play and watch.
Personally I feel you should do a streaming series starting from scratch. Stream like 5 x 5 hour streams. If you do a series I would personally prefer you do it the same as your original series, by that I mean play for an hour record. No cuts or skipping etc.
I feel like my original series did have cuts, just not in the first 10 or so episodes, but once builds started getting big I did start to do cuts, and that's when I got the complaint "now I can't build along" - which is why in this series I tried to provide all the saves/build/production files. When you say 5 x 5 hour streams... do you mean 5 streams per week? Because that ain't happening :P I'd love to somehow do it daily but if it was daily it'd likely be 3hrs at most.
@WhatDarrenPlays yeah I just mean daily streams. Obviously they don't need to be 5 hours lol, I just mean nice long streams. Personally i just like long form content, and I dont build along, but like watching the process coming together. I don't have time to game, but enjoy watching and experiencing through you. That's why I watch the content over and over. Like the anno series, just chill watching.
@@deonstroebel Oh yeah from a RUclips perspective starting new is the obvious thing to do. Not so obvious if viewers would better in a video or a stream though. Typically video but you never know
@@WhatDarrenPlays Minor suggestion. You could move AI limiters from Copper Factory to second floor of Silica Factory and rename it as Electronic Factory. Because well, I assume Supercomputers would be top product there I assume?
I would like to see you keep building on this save IF it is true that most of the recipes stay the same, so you don't have to radically rebuild all of your factories. Of course, if half your factories need an complet overhaul/rebuilding you should definitely start building the new MEGA factory
I've been following along with this series, building along (as well as adding things myself). Starting fresh at 1.0 wouldn't be a bad idea (I'm sure many like myself will find guides and play-along series that say "1.0", probably assuming that V8 is probably obsolete by that point). I myself have been debating a fresh start with 1.0 now that I have a better grasp of the game. Personally I think a "MEGA" base play-through is a bad idea - and I say that having now reached Milestone Tier 8 and have NEVER turned on (nor completed) the Copper Caterium factory from this series. Through the series I've definitely learned that I lean more into the "lots of smaller modular factories with vehicles to move items between them" category. As soon as the Copper/Cat factory logistics (Quickwire episode especially) came into play - I literally couldn't follow the sushi-belting. Even bouncing between save files, screenshots, NOTES! It's just so much to figure out, and I end up frustrated and unable to proceed. I've even debated just torching the whole build and putting together a smaller factory that I can ship items out of. Now that we need Copper Sheets and Quickwire to run this most recent factory, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place - do I destroy and build something smaller to supply the Computer/HMF Factory, do I keep muddling through this build and pray I can get it running (even if it runs poorly), or do I just say screw it and start all over at 1.0 with my own knowledge now gained. Darren, if you're reading this - I really appreciate all the time and effort you've put into this series, it's been a blast getting to build along with you! ...but please god no more mega factories, my brain can't handle the sushi belts >.
These factories have been thought out and designed to be by themselves, I'd say possibly adding to the title of them "(1.0 compatible/verified)" and just continue. we've been rather lose with the story in this series, so that itself wouldn't change much. so it's just map changes, which I think you said that your factories aren't affected by, which leads me back to my first thought. I'm in the boat of continue on with this save, calling it 1.0 when it drops.
Hi I have been building along with you, but started like 2 month ago, so i haven't catched up all the way yet. I have just finished the brutalism factory. The Coppar factory kind of broke me too, i have note finished it as mutch as you have. I have Learnd soo much building along with you. You har doing a realy great work. I would love for you to start over when 1.0 resleases. Would be fun to start somewere different, and i love the idea of 1 big base!
I will just import all my factories to a new save one by one and begin from Tier 0 once again ! 😅 It will reset nearly 280hrs on my current save but it won't hurt that much !!! (Reminder:- Your Quartz Crystal factory is even better now ! One quartz node is being upgraded to pure, so 1400 quartz crystals p/m !! )
12:00 the most efficient way would be using the rubber concrete recipe, which you would have to unlock first, but then you could have used the rubber in your factory to make it.
I'd like to see you try to continue this save into the 1.0 if only because i want to see this grand plan coming to fruition. I know i'll be starting over just because after seeing your channel i've been trying to overhaul my existing factories to fit the world grid and not just be strewn around the ground everywhere, but it's exhausting work and starting over with better fundamentals might be the best way forward for me. But you know what you're doing, you'd end up with the same factories in the same spots and spend a while jsut catching back up to where you are now. As it is, you jsut have to check the recipes when 1.0 hits and adjust your stuff from there.
Honestly if the game doesn't break your save, and the mechanical bits don't affect what you have done so far, just adding another tier to your goals would be fine. The only issue is the Story, which isn't the kind of stream you have been making. A lets play featuring the Story elements would be neat, but that's mostly because I like listening to your reactions and thoughts... I would also not watch it until I myself had played through my new game. I will be keeping my older saves and doing what I can with them. But I do want to explore Sam Ore, Somersloops, Mercer Spheres etc and the new content myself.
I'd love to see a fresh start follow a long playthrough for 1.0, plus it might be a bit easier to follow along if its all in one big place and things you have learnt from making this playlist. I made it as far as roads but even with your saves i'm finding it almost impossible to match your build the way I would like to.
I personally find series of medium size factories and logistic networks as more interesting then megafatcory. Yes. At one point everything would culminate in the central hub. But just dumping all resources in one blob is... well, mid tier solution. My personal take is that you should continue this series. With maybe test run of 1.0, but if it doesn't really bring nothing new on the table in low tier. Then do not bother.
I kinda feel with your current logistics system this save could work with what I've seen for changes. I wouldn't mind seeing an after 1.0 to see how it goes?
I'd say wait for now, wait till we know better what's in 1.0. But personally, if you start fresh, I probably wouldn't watch for a bit, as to do the story myself and not get spoiled.
Some people would be upset and you will have small numbers of dropoffs. But you would get way more new viewers. If this is how you make a living, then you know what you gotta do
Could you upload a road count on the drive, the last one that I saw was at the copper caterium phase 1. Thank you for all the resaurces you post, I always got stuck at the coal phase but thanks to you everytime I get stuck I can just see what you upload
@@WhatDarrenPlays That makes sense, then. I saw you adding one car to the train and more than one space was not connected at the point I saw and it made me curious. I assumed from that point in the video that the other cars would have stayed the same. I haven't made it to the end of the video yet
I think you're so meticulous that attempting a mega base will burn you out so fast. Since a mega base requires a lot more tweaking after each addition, right? So much planning ahead as well.
Photoshop for floorplans (i just draw them manually) But you can also use a website called SALT (search satisfactory salt and it should appear) For the logic maps I also handcraft them in Milanote, but you can use Satisfactory Calculator which has a built in planner.

There's not much use for steel beams apart from what you consume buildings things. It's a wasteful recipe to use them for encased industrial beams. 4 steel ingots per EIB vs 1.5 steel ingots.
I’m a bit confused… why do you consider using steel beams wasteful for encased industrial beams? Ive now used the EIB to make Heavy Modular Frames… seemed good to me?
@@WhatDarrenPlays I mean if your just trying to use your beams up it's fine, but if you instead use the steel pipe version of the recipe it ends up costing 1.5 steel ingots per EIB, whereas using the steel beam version of the recipe costs 4 steel ingots per EIB.
I see, I considered that steel pipes are used in later recipes more, and like you said beams arent used quite as much so it seemed to make sense to use them up. Arguably I shouldn’t have made as many beams in the first place and shouldve made more pipes :P
If you restart, then I will not watch again. The whole point was to see the mid/end game that I can not reach due to little time, all of this will be wasted.

I think a start over for 1.0 could be cool. So yeah, dont go to crazy with this one I gess
Hey, Darren why dont you plan your factories according to 1200p/m nodes?
I am damn sure CSS must have done something for it !!
Too much of an unknown I guess, whether they'll make a second output for miners or add a bigger belt... or lower the resource count... no idea!
1.0. I really don't have time this time of year. Come winter, I'll have time to pick it back up. Which probably means I might have to start over. 😢
Quick question : have you planned to use nuclear power plants or are you going to use coal power plants for the entire factory ?
It seems like a lot of resources are being changed, seems like starting over is the only option that makes sense.
personally im not a big fan of mega bases. i really like the logistics involved in multiple interconnected factories
Have you considered speed run in 1.0 to unlock everything & storyline, then work on megas and beauty builds?
I would love to see a megabase!
Follow your heart with regards to whether or not you'll continue this save. Either decision is fine.
lot's of workload coming!🤯
I have re-watched your Rome 2 Carthage head-to-head campaign against Jackiefish, will there ever be another one?
No, not likely.
I would like to see you play the Satisfactory plus mod. kind of a new game ;)
Early game is my favorite thing....and i always build a mega-base when i play soooo....im for a fresh 1.0 start.
I'm curious why you set up freight platforms instead of blank platforms for the train for spaces that don't need to transfer anything
Every space is transferring something though
@@WhatDarrenPlays That makes sense, then. I saw you adding one car to the train and more than one space was not connected at the point I saw and it made me curious. I assumed from that point in the video that the other cars would have stayed the same. I haven't made it to the end of the video yet
I think you're so meticulous that attempting a mega base will burn you out so fast. Since a mega base requires a lot more tweaking after each addition, right? So much planning ahead as well.
Hey man what site are you using to create your floor plan?
Photoshop for floorplans (i just draw them manually)
But you can also use a website called SALT (search satisfactory salt and it should appear)
For the logic maps I also handcraft them in Milanote, but you can use Satisfactory Calculator which has a built in planner.
12 Coal Generators, 140% overclock, 10 Compact Coal a minute, 63 Water a minute
105Mw a Generators. 1260Mw a row, 120 Compact Coal from 6 Assemblers at 69Mw, 756m3 water to ervice the 12 Generators.
Note
Generators
The power generator set at 105Mw output with 1 power shard for a consumption rate of 10 Compact Coal a minute at 63m3 water a minute. Four rows of twelve generators was considered better for the plant over four generatorers in three syns generators in parallel do to pipe flow rates being maxed at 300m3.
Water Extractors:
Water flow rate is 252m3 with one pipe line servicing 4 generators. Each water extractor is set to 126m3 requiring two water extractors. Max power consumption of all water extractors at (21.3Mw x 24) is 511.2 with a max water requirement of 3024m3 for all generators.
Note:
I am extrapolating the information for 3 sync of 4 generators for each row. Do to threw put of 300m3 a pipe at tear 1. The best rate seems to be 4 water extractors at 63/52.5/8.5. At 4 extractors the total power consumption with a pipe pressure of 252m3 using fluid buffers to gain passive head lift for each pipe. With 4 row of generators the requirement is 3 pipe lines at 252m3. The max Mw a minute would be 102 for a total of 12 water extractors this is more do to the timing or clock of the consumption of what is produced. The water extractors are half to the number of generators.
A Coal Generator power rate
1 peace of compact coal is 10.5 mw the power output when burned is 630Mj
6.3 M3 of water is needed for each peace of coal burned. Limits on fuel are based on the amount extractable from a resources node. And water supply lines at tear 1 of 300m3 at max.

Thank you for sharing those notes on that one live stream. It helped me complete my own project that I am play along. Constructed a compact coal power plant just for the fun of it. Sharing my notes for return on your share. Keep up the good games :)
damn I'd prefer the sign to say `E.I.BEAM`
Funny, I actually changed it after the episode to say that
I'll second 1.0 megafactory
unfortunaly you'll have to start from scratch...
can you put the blueprinds from this heavy modular frames
ty darren dont forget and i like your blueprind and im doing coke factory
TY Darren
The whole point was to see the mid/end game that I can not reach due to little time, all of this will be wasted.
i dont like you
Watch someone else then it'd be better starting fresh with story and all
Hey I know some people take what you said as somewhat negative, but I appreciate the honesty. I'd rather people tell me why they stop watching, than me having to guess what I did wrong. I would hope it wasn't time "wasted" though, and the series is enjoyable not because of the destination, but the journey, as it were. I still have fun playing, whether or not I'll finish and although I'd like to finish it I hope people still find value in watching something and being (hopefully) entertained by it.
Too much of Blah blah bro, it's annoying no need to narrate every click and Explain every unnecessary Situation and plans, Just maintain the Key points.
Hm, difficult to know what is blah blah and what is relevant
@@WhatDarrenPlays hey Darren, Sorry if my Words hurt you. I was just annoyed by watching you let play playlist of Satisfactory because you talk too much, Take it as constructive Criticism. But which part is Relevant and which part is Unnecessary Talking on that thing you have to find it out youself, may be get some help from Friends, I can not do that in a Video this long, i can just suggest just Explain the key points when you do things, what you do is Explain everything like people will copy 100 percentage as same as You And you also explain like ( if this then that and why is that ? ) You don't need to do that let people also use their Brains a little. Whats the point doing the same and not improvising and improving. 👍👍👍
@@WhatDarrenPlaysTotally agree with you on that one. You right from the beginning introduced this playthrough as a detailed and easy-to-follow one, anyway. Don't let yourself get distracted. I personally really much enjoy your way of playing 😊
