Being a x volunteer firefighter we had 3 fire stations our arrival time was 2 to4 minutes any department all volunteers including volunteer ambulance service
Thank you because I was about to lay into them and well you did it NICE CORRECTLY AND PROFESSIONAL……I’m less tactful if it hits me on JUST the right date and well after the last 2 weeks we have had let’s just say I was about to unload and offer whoever that was to come take up a spot at our “VOLLY” house 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡 but for the record all but 3 in our “VOLLY” house does this FT and our Chief is a FT Battalion Chief of a major city in the same county and has over 40 years experience and 3rd generation and teaches at our academy. We have one of the best stations there is because we know how to apply for all the grants and fund raise and train some up and comers even better than if they worked for a city. Yes many do make others look bad (BUT ISNT THAT IN ANY PROFESSION??????) just asking
Highway speeds +10mph maybe?… but only on the highway, obviously. Traffic Density plays a huge part in how fast the First Responders can get to you. I’m fortunate to live within 15 minutes drive of the Delmar Fire Department, but it’s a better idea to have a good few fire extinguishers in your home than to rely solely on the Fire Department.
based on the length of engines and flat roads, probably not in PA. Also, based on apparent age of firefighters, i'd is volunteers responding to daylight call, and at least one tanker, my guess, they saved the basement, but may have kept spread to other structures.
E71-1, Why are you running in the Right-hand lane and not the Left (when you have multiple lanes)? It is a bit more dangerous than otherwise since drivers are supposed to pull over to the right (hahaha yes, I notice they usually freeze or don't). Passing on the right can lead to many legal problems if a collision occurs. Nice work at coming to a Red signal and waiting to cross til traffic yields. Perfect. 6th due? Based on what we saw on your arrival every other closer station had just 1 unit? maybe there was a Truck?. T74 likewise, passing on the right? Get up closer and wait til traffic moves over, be safe
Okay on the report of the house fire it should have been reported who was on scene as the Engine you reported being dispatched, and then to find out their was already a response on scene, guess you left that out
Gotta love the keyboard firefighters in here. There is this thing called mutual aid. Oh and you don’t know how far gone the house was by the time the first apparatus even got there…if you know nothing then stay quiet..
Okay me being a Retired Firefighter I have to voice my opinion. Firstly, why isn't there a closer firehouse? If the fire district is that wide spread there should be closer fire houses? Response time taking this long is unacceptable, and where is the response of a fire chief? It almost seems like it's in another county for this response?
This was not the first due units. They are on the initial box alarm there are 4 stations that are closer than Delmar is. That side of the county is quite rural as well.
This is a very rural part of Maryland they are near ocean City Maryland most departments are volunteer departments unfortunately they do cover a lot cities they do need more departments these cities are not very populated most land is farming land.you you have Perdue chicken farms you have Land o lakes butter farms they make pickles out there
@@chrisboek2346 Exactly my thoughts. I hated that the first POV engine we saw only use its power call once, and never again. That siren should have been on the ENTIRE time they were in motion.
18 minutes to get on scene, unbelievable, a house can burn down in 5 minutes, I hope this is not there standard. Whoever’s plan this is , you need to do better, township you need to do better, fire dept.’s you need to do or demand better. Anyone can tell this is piss poor planning all around the table 30 minutes and more trucks are just arriving on scene
not everyone has a fire station next to them. I am in MI, I had a house fire. Mutual aid got here before my township did. Township station is like 9-10 miles away. Years ago I was a volunteer in ND our dept covered 20-30 sq miles
I guess you’re not familiar with mutual aid? This video is of a dept responding to a fire outside of it’s district. The city this fire took place in has 3 fully staffed stations 24/7/365, which includes a capitol piece and at least 1 EMS unit at each of said stations. This fire was at the very edge of one of the 3 station’s district (Station 16). All 3 capitol pieces were on scene within minutes of each other, with the first arriving apparatus on location within minutes of dispatch. As for station 74’s response, they arrived in a timely fashion given the distance they had to cover. As a volunteer department, they delivered much needed manpower and resources, in a professional manor. Play Monday morning QB all you want, but at the end of the day, these guys did great, this job couldn’t have been done without them or any of the surrounding volunteer departments.
@@remster199Some people just like to run their mouths without knowing what they're talking about and this guy is a good example. Thanks for giving some insight to this response!
Also I think you're blind and ignorant as well. This is not the first unit on scene but great job projecting and assuming it takes every other unit 18 minutes just from one engines POV. Because the units on-scene totally haven't tried to address the fire already! Great job putting that into perspective huh bud 😂
Engineer: Engine 741 arrival. Nothing showing. Dispatcher: Arrival?...Where? Engineer: 741 arrival Salisbury 3rd alarm mutual aid. Dispatcher: Salisbury? That was last week! After reading some of these comments, a lot of you have never heard of "Mutual Aid" and it shows
Lol ain't that the truth.
So we just spent all this time in a vehicle that wasn't a first-responder? Why not wait a day and let us ride with the insurance adjuster?

ngl I'm annoyed that they don't leave the power call on the entire time they are driving. The Q is great, but when it winds down it's ineffective.
Actually, the Q is ineffective when you keep it wound up. Proper use is to wind it up for a second or 2 and let it wind down a bit. Then repeat.
Two hours later…..

Drive 30 miles and to home, fire is out, don't need you
Much of that road you could do without the Q. For the film I guess.
Better for them to be heard, than for them to get hit
They have a primary siren for a reason most places don't use them an just use the q which could open them up for lawsuit
Aside from what Hosedragger said, some states require one siren be on at all times to prevent anyone from being hit.
