- Brick Township - Two Alarms - 776 Lexington Drive - Ocean County - New Jersey
Just after 8:00 AM Brick Township Police Department received a call for a reported structure fire at the address of 776 Lexington Drive off Sally Ike Road in the Herbersillve part of town. The caller reported smoke & flames showing on the phone with dispatch. First, the Police & Fire Chief (2400) arrived to find a fire & smoke condition emitting from the structure. Seconds after 2400 asked for a second alarm assignment. That brings in every Brick Township fire company plus Point Pleasant Boro & Howell Township. The house was under construction according to the workings and neighbors on the scene. There was a crew working on the house at the time of the fire. First, due engine 2471 came into the scene grabbed a hydrant, and began to stretch a 2.5-inch attack line to the exterior of the house. Shortly after an interior line was stretched of 2471 a 1.3/4 inch line through the front door. First due layer 2325 was set up in front of the structure and went inside to work. 2435 was the second due ladder & put up the bucket behind 25. Crews inside and outside battled the blaze as fire ripped along the roof line advancing to the B side of the structure. Shortly after crews were able to stop the spread of the fire along the roofline and the fire started to darken down in color. Crews from Howell Township 19-1 and Point Pleasant Boro subsequently arrived on the scene. Heavy fire damage was seen from the outside of the house as the flames went down. Soon after the tower ladder operated and the bulk of the fire was knocked down with a combination of all hand lines and tower ladders. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation. Crews remained on scene for about two hours hitting hot spots and assisting investigators. Nobody was injured & there were no firefighters injured.

Been watching these Jersey Shore fire depts for the last 3 years.. They HAVE NOT gotten any better. Don't know why it takes so long to get water to the fire. Most of them move like they came from the local geriatric center.....
If it was their home, you know the fire would have been out quick. Or, could be "Ha, Ha, look at that expensive home going up in flames . I still live with my parents or a crummy Apt. Well, Tsk, Tsk to them! " Yup, lot of jealousy, Passive Aggressive behavior these days. Used to live in NJ for many years and it was nice and affordable once, but it's been changing for the worse since the Bennies from NY have been moving in.
Bad yes, but I've seen videos that are a hell of a lot worse. I couldn't believe the absolute incompetence of first responders. I seriously thought it was a joke. One video I watched where a car was parked in front of the garage and they were on the scene 15 minutes, and I watched the car catch fire. Not one of them considered saving the car. I was thinking who the hell put these clowns in charge of a fire truck..It was embarrassing to watch. The fire superintendent should have been fired from his job...
Painful to watch.
Imagine you are the homeowner watching those bumbling idiots trying to hook up hoses to water. What a shame. This happens in almost all of these NJ fire videos. 😡😡😡
Rumor has it that this department never lost a basement.
Foundation savers
Embarrassing to watch.
Mirror?
@@RLTtizMEyou don’t find this embarrassing?
That house is a possible total loss because the first fire truck response was ridiculous I can see firemen doing nothing
That was downright hard to watch, from the initial attempts at water supply to the fire chief stopping the first arriving ladder from a proper position, saving it for His own company? Wow, all this and no plug uglies?
Oh gee look yet another YT wannabe making a complete fool of himself by babbling about something he clearly knows nothing about.
@@virgilhilts3924 no, that was pretty bad.
That’s Brick. They like to let it burn for a while.
@@virgilhilts3924he’s not wrong in his assessment though is he? You think this video shows a good example of fire suppression?
@@Jimmythefish577
Tell me specifically what was done wrong....
They sure dont hurry to put out the fire. They walk around like nothing is happening.
Lets see you do better...
So you guys know it is standard procedure to move slow than to wear yourself out by the time you get to the fire. You becomes useless once you get to the flames. And when your carrying over 100 pounds on your back you should not be running anyway. Pretty much common sense.
@@mrbowlingalleywho’s carrying over 100lbs on their back?
@@Jimmythefish577 Try wearing full bunker gear, including scba's, and full tanks on you, that stuff is heavy
@@virgilhilts3924I did for 30 year's, unlike you.
Never seen so many firemen just standing around doing absolutely nothing. You guys let this house burn down no good.😢
Looked like a union road crew
Wait till you see the NJ road construction crews, same thing.
PATHETIC , NO HUSTLE AT ALL , OMG !😮
I know. I agree 🤦🏼♂️
They don't really care.
Total lack of urgency. Would have been better to let the neighbours piss on the fire...
Holy clusterfuck, that's one of the worst attacks I've ever seen.
Nice trucks now learn how to use them
Screw you
They do, 2 probationary FF on the first due engine. Not giving them much manpower to work with.
@@jerseyshorefireresponseutilize that deck gun then, it’s not rocket science, low on bodies? Get the big line into operation and get big water on the big fire.
@@Jimmythefish577 they pulled a 2.5…
I really don’t want to criticize any volunteer firefighters but this was hard to watch. I think 4 trucks are there and I don’t know how many guys standing around doing nothing. And the guy on the street emphatically telling the truck arriving to pull over here. Seems like it should have been an easy knockdown but not the case.
The whole fire Dept. should be jailed starting with the CHIEF
You're embarrassing yourself
Praise God Real Firmen Fially showed up near the end !!!😮🤨
Keystone fire crews… they just let this fire burn and burn before the ladder was even put up in the air. Wow - pathetic. No sense of urgency
Clearly you need to get your eyes checked...
Come volunteer then! Show them how it’s done.
@@jerseyshorefireresponseto be fair it wouldn’t take much to show these guys up, that was an embarrassing demonstration of firefighting, if ever there was a prime opportunity to get big water on the big fire with a deck gun this was it, but no, they mess around with hand lines and going interior whilst the structure literally burns around them.
@@jerseyshorefireresponseray Charles could do a better job
@@virgilhilts3924 I lived in Europe many years and this fire would’ve been put out in half the time - they have a sense of urgency and actually run out of the truck after arriving. Embarassing
Over 3 minutes to get water on the fire is unacceptable. Use tank water, and move with a sense of urgency. Let the second due tap the plug.
The drone view near the end of the video says it all! The entire middle portion of the structure is destroyed by not deploying one of the ladder trucks immediately. Show this video to potential home buyers in this area so they can buy elsewhere..
Have up most respect for fire fighters but this was tough to even watch.
Guess we don’t use a deck gun anymore LOL wow.
Take your time boys, it’s only someone’s home. Perhaps the old guy in charge of hooking up the hydrant supply line should think about retirement.
Confusion. Chaos. Anarchy. Disorder. Wasted manpower. SIX guys standing in the street watching a house burn down. No supervision. Pumper/plumper guy can't hook up a hose that doesn't fall off.
Come on guys. I mean COME ON!
Are these guys on benadryl
Good grief 🤦🏻♂️on another note .. the female probie from station 24 deserves kudos for her hustle
A hydrant and a deck gun, and no water on the fire.
WOW. How about using some tank water for a little bit, huh?…
Engineer was too busy cross threading the supply line.
Pump operator should retired
Not really. This is all he might be good for. They don't need a 22 year old looking at gauges.
@@mrbowlingalley He's not good at it, bud
@@mrbowlingalleyno but a 22yo that can hook a supply line up properly would be an asset
And a mandatory diet.
😁
Wondering if it was one of their own, would they be this quick ? Now, guys, remember we're just practicing it's not real. Cause back in the 40's we took care of things not stand around, watch someones home burn to the ground
OMG this is pathetic. Five minutes to straighten out hose.Watching a house burn down.
The batailion cheff is doing nothing to save that home
A lot of standing around and not putting water on fire.
Every fire I see brick fight makes me fear living here.
That engineer is pathetic.
I think they pulled him out of a retirement village
As a former volunteer fire fighter, I know how chaotic a fire scene is, and never comment on these videos. However, this firefighting effort was one of the worst I've seen. I can't believe the old guy didn't make certain the connection to the truck was secure. Stopping an arriving apparatus for no reason? Unreal
You've never been a Firefighter of any sort.
All the gear, and no idea.

Can’t even attach the hose to the engine!

Why only one line ? They should have had water on it in half the time ? No water on the roof ? It took them 15 minutes to fire up a third line ?
Show us a video of you doing it better...
@@virgilhilts3924let’s see a video of you in action as well then, works both ways.
No sense of urgency. This is embarrassing
Looks like there’s a pretty useful pipe on the back of the rig, why not position the engine better and get some big water on the big fire? Then the two Ariel’s show up and pretty much do nothing, then the rescue shows up 20 minutes after everyone else. No doubt they all went back to the hall and patted themselves on the back for a job well done. What an embarrassment these departments are.
Says the 🤡 who doesn't know the different between "Ariel" and "aerial" 😆😅😂🤣
It's ok Ariel will flap her tail and put the fire out😂😂😂😂😂@@virgilhilts3924
@@virgilhilts3924that’s predictive text for you, but yes, resorting to insults is the mature response. I see you’re defending this terrible example of fire suppression pretty robustly, if you think this is a positive example of the aforementioned statement then you need to go back to the academy.
Heartbreaking!
Why Bother, It Was "Gone" By The Time They Got The First Water On It!! Great Video, Keep It Up!! T/Y Later!
The lack of urgency coupled with the amateur effort is a complete nightmare.
Awesome coverage, thanks for posting, great work. I highly recommend this channel.
Thanks!
One line in. One person to hold the hose, the other with a pike pole. The rest of the "firefighters" doing nothing. Help arrives and immediately go in with extra lines. Did the original arrival crew only have two air packs to use and one pike pole and were taking turns to use them? Is that why they are standing around? Hard to watch. Most pathetic attempt at "firefighting". Shameful.
Says the 🤡 who's never worked a fire in his life 🤣
Imagine being the homeowner or a neighbor and watching this happen in front of you, or watching this video afterward.
Most people that financially support their local fire department typically expect things to get better once the firefighters arrive.
What an utterly ignorant comment
I think it’s worth just having paid fire departments. To painful to watch!
Especially with the prices of most homes in New Jersey and the crazy property taxes they pay.
Assuming all volunteers.....no urgency
Yes at 8 am on a weekday.
I would say with an untrained eye that there was a delay in calling the pros. The four fire extinguishers might have tipped me off?
No urgency. 6 minutes to get water on the fire. They walk round like tortoises. Do they ever have any training?. Hose comes off engine. In the UK we have water in our trucks and on the fire in 30 seconds.
"No urgency, 6 minutes to get water on the fire"
-You are wrong by ~50%
"They walk round like tortoises"
-You do not run on a fireground, especially when there is no life risk as was the case here
"Do they ever have any training?"
-Yes... they clearly do
-BTW these are all volunteers genius
"In the UK we have water in our trucks"
-As do the ones here... But thanks for showing that you haven't the slightest idea what you are talking about
"and on the fire in 30 seconds"
a) Your assertion is laughable
b) The stupid little garden hoses used in the UK would have been a joke here
c) But thanks again for showing that you haven't the slightest idea what you are talking about
Generally, here too. But in the US they seem to be afraid of running the tank dry if they don't have a water supply hooked up. Stupid. Use the damn tank water to keep the fire at bay until the water supply gets hooked up. They seem to be more concerned about setting up equipment than putting out the fire.
Ah, Jersey humor and Sarcasm at its best.
Clown show….1st fire for these guys? Does the NJ Div of Fire Safety watch these videos? They should! Those new trucks are nice & shiny though!
These must be the crews that wave from the rigs during parades and giggle like 12 year olds doing a wet down of another towns brand new rig. Compare this incompetence to Newark, East Orange, Paterson. And they'll tell you volunteers are as good as a paid dept. Not even close.
Is it too late for some of us watching this to drive there and help?
Can these guys move any slower? And possibly learn how to hook up the truck to the hydrant? One guy on the driveway with an inch and a half could have knocked down that roof in about a minute. 16 minutes into the video (probably longer because there were a couple of cuts/edits) before anyone got water on the roof fire.
When they say water on the fire they are technically correct, but the part of the fire that's really burning through the house could have been slowed or stopped if they'd take that first line inside.
Holy shit put the fucking fire out
This hurt to watch .. like good god..
Time from arrival to attack line being deployed: 45 seconds
Your crew should be automatic and be off the engine and have the hose load on their shoulder in under 10 seconds.
Not to mention it was a shitty deployment and the firefighter is walking with no haste to flake it out.
Like come on putting water on the fire is not rocket science, there are only so many tasks that need to be done in order for that to happen and each one should be performed quickly and efficiently
The one thing I will give props to the attack line FF is being masked up already(which I’m hoping he did in the truck while it stopped to grab the hydrant and not during the 45 seconds it took to get the attack line deployed)
Sorry to rant but the fireground operations in these videos are always hard to watch due to the lack of efficiency, haste, and quite frankly, the lack of professionalism.
Not to hate on your local departments, you are a great fire buff who always manages to be first due!
Why does your area have so many fires, let alone so many engulfed buildings? My rapidly growing county has 20 stations across 2 departments serving 300k people and fires like this are far and few. Is it that these older NJ homes are more prone to fire? No doubt part of it is that many of the departments I see in your videos appear to be smaller and there is less uniformity in foreground operations between them(Literally as I typed this sentence the supply hose popped off the pump panel😭)
Does anyone know how to hustle
What a shame, the house is a total loss.
All these videos are the same.
I get it. This is a how not to video.
Am glad i live in Florida
One truck 20 mins
Great video catch.
I agree Larry
0.0 urgency
I realize that they're volunteers , but if they're that apathetic why bother ?
Honestly they’re just walking around with 0 fucking haste whatsoever for the most part
At least walk with purpose. How have these guys not been sued?
Yea you go ahead and sue volunteers 🤣
First pumper could've hooked proper to the hydrant (which was super close), drove to the house, started with the deck gun...knocked fire TF down...then use hand lines to fight interior style the rest of the way. No need for ladders on street homes ladders are for commercial buildings two story and on up. sitting in my armchair as I write this lol...

We all need to support all our volunteers but this was hard to watch. I will never buy a home in a volunteer town.
