    Interesting to see. I am absolutely still loving the wheel module as a disabled gamer, who loves racing games.
    Hopefully sometime someday, one of the manufacturers will simply create a wheel itself with gas and brake being extra paddles, in addition to the paddles for shift up and down. Thus negating the use for traditional foot pedals
    Very interesting indeed to see the results.

      The Fanatec McLaren GT3 wheel has clutch pedals on the wheel, with a setting on the wheel itself to re-map them to gas and brake.

      Hey Matt. If you're willing to get a bit deep, this is totally doable. I made my own DIY 20nm direct drive wheel, my own load cell based pedals, hand brake ect. It wouldn't be difficult at all to make a wheel with two extra analog axis as paddles for gas/brake. Either big stationary paddles like an old WRC shifter, or even regular type disability hand controls.

    For me, my sim rig can be faster FH5 but it is very car dependent. High grip pointy cars and those that can balance really well with just a tiny bit of slip angle I can set faster times on a wheel because of the more direct control and being able to balance on a knifes edge better. When getting into more power builds or cars that are more prone to snapping however I cannot push to the fullest as I find it hard to catch their oversteer on a wheel compared to controller. I would imagine some of this has to do with my tendency to tap steer instead of roll so could see this wheel module bridging that gap that I have when it gets into those more pointy cars.

    Have you tried the wheel module in the upper left slot with thumb and forefinger grip? I would think this would give much more precise control than rolling with the thumb only. Function would be more like an RC car. I'm still trying to decide on whether to get this controller or just get a wheel set. I don't see why a wheel set would be slower than a stick controller on Forza? Any theories on this?

    Shouldn't wheel be theoretically the fastest since you've got direct control of the wheels or am I once again high on copium. Drifting is very smooth once you get the right settings, but rolling sticks can get you just as smooth on controller

    • @HokiHoshi
      @HokiHoshi  Год назад +5

      In racing sims wheels will always be fastest, but in arcade/simcade games like Horizon controllers have the advantage for a couple of reasons - largely because of the built in "assists" that the game uses to translate joystick movement to steering input, and also because a joystick can steer faster than a real wheel (for example on a real wheel it takes a second or two to go from full left to full right lock, on joysticks its a fraction of a second) so it effectively improves steering reaction time

    You need retting for standard Controller! I use Joystick same as you do with that wheel module (basically press it forward and just roll left and right to simulate wheel) it is not as easy since this module you can actually steer and not roll but is 85% similar experience. This wheel module does have a slower response time to the movement than a knob. This is a somewhat Forza related issue. On AC this problem does not exist. Because of that lag cars in Forza respond in a sluggish way. Movement around the centre of the wheel is dead in Forza and it can't be dialled out with any calibration. It just shows that the game was made for the regular controller, not the wheel module.
    AC is with proper in-game configuration and thrustmaster calibration to give more movement resolution around the centre of a wheel makes game playable but it is still not a replacement for a proper wheel.
    In summary, this wheel module is a gimmick. The rest of the controller is surely an improvement over standard Xbox controller. Brake, throttle and knobs have far more precission and give extra controllability in the game. But does this give a Thrustmaster an edge over Elite series? 🤔

    Tp for driving with with analog stick - use UP for centered position. It is SO MUCH EASIER to get micro adjustments when you hold UP and move ever so slightly to the side than leaving it centered and having to move it to the side a little, then pulling it off to the center then moving it to the side a little then pulling it off to the center then pul....you get the idea, just don't do that. Use UP position instead of leaving it centered (default)
