- FNAF is a Movie!!.............My condolences to fans of the games. We have ALL been here before when it comes to Video game to movie adaptations.
Here's my review for the movie FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S!
#FiveNightsAtFreddys #FNAF #fnafmovie - Развлечения
The fact that this movie took 8 years to make is actually insane.
Nah, its pretty normal. Deadpool took like a decade to get made for its first solo movie. Martin Scorsese's passionate project, Silence took him 25 years to get made
It’s not that crazy.. some movies get put on hold for longer. Some don’t see the light of day. John Malkovich has a movie that’ll be released in 100 years. 8 years is nothing new tbh
True, but filmmaking can take a lot of months or years to make.
@@firstlast9846 And there is Frozen
@@15Candlesbut Deadpool is actually good. From the reviews I’ve seen, nobody liked this 8 year movie
i just wish that there was more traditional security guarding scenes. Like constantly checking the cameras and the animatronics moving about.
Yes That’s What The First 4 Games Were About! it Got Weird After Fnaf 4
Couldn't agree more
And the jumpscares weren’t that scary at all like in the games
From a cinematic and horror perspective, I agree, but imo you had a misguided take at the end. This isn’t a situation where fans have to deal with a “bad video game adaptation.” The games always had a messy story, and that’s exactly what the movie gave us, so fans got exactly what they wanted, it’s just an experience MOST critics and normal movie-goers aren’t going to enjoy.
YOOOOOO Danno
I agree
@@whiteredk7212 Is this guy famous or something?
yes@@brasunlol
I’d agree as well. Considering a friend of mine cried happy tears after really shows how happy they were. It was amazing to see. The movie was top notch as a fan.
The animatronics and suits were beautiful and so were the sets. Actors were mostly ok. But it wasnt scary, the story was rushed but also slow and tedious compared to the games.
Fans in the theater seemed to love it. They cheered super loud at every reference.
I actually thought the cast was great. Matthew Lillard especially killed it (no pun intended)
The writers strike really hurt Hollywood. That script needed revision for sure.
The actors were awful especially the aunt and the kids and the officer and her dad and
@@waleedd857 Bruh Matthew Lillard ruled tho, he's a very highly respected actor
@@waleedd857 The aunt was bad yes but most other actors were fine. Compared to Willies Wonderland actors for example.
About the “rated R gorefest” part, it probably would’ve made the movie more fun but the FNAF games actually have very little in terms of actual gore, a lot of the really disturbing stuff is implied rather than explicitly shown (with a few exceptions ofc).
So I feel like the PG-13 rating actually makes sense in this case.
I feel like a lot of FNAF fans are kids. My 10 y/o daughter is a big fan, so maybe I'm skewed by that. So, the PG-13 rating makes sense in that regard.
Those few exceptions may have been enough to give it an R Rating. Maybe it even started out that way but the studio chose to make cuts to trim the rating.
The FNAF lore where a purple man stuffing children inside the mascot costumes or getting springlocked inside said costume is an R-Rated material, but FNAF barely have any gore in-game (sometimes except for the minigames).
The target audience isn't 18+ so the movie definitely would never have been R.
Yeh but the movie *feels* held back by the age rating. That's the point. It feels like an R-rated movie that was edited down to a PG-13 by hiding all the gore.
Disappointing as you found the film, I can say that it could have been even worse.
A few years ago Scott Cawthon shared that the biggest reason the film was taking so long to make was finding a good script. Previous ones he was offered included (but not limited to) "the pizzeria had an underground lab and the animatronics were military weapons the whole time!", "a boy and his animatronic" and no joke "kaiju FNAF plushies invade Manhattan". Even Scott's own attempts at writing a screenplay didn't go anywhere, since in his words it ended up being a "3 hour visual encyclopedia instead of a movie". I'm not even certain if the script he ended up choosing made it into the final movie, considering how much can change in production.
And yet willys wonderland was great
Fazbear Kaiju actually sounds pretty cool... Lol
I mean, the games themselfs are REALLY boring as well. Sure the first few up until the 4th were fun enough but after that. Sheesh.
Imma go so far as to say that the fan games were infinatly better than the official games.
The Joy of Creation, Flumpty's, Tealerland, Candy's and Aftonbuilt are just on another level of polish.
So its not a surprise to me that the official movie is worse than the Nikolas Cage one that was mostly a passion project lol
Don’t forget the WB script which was all but confirmed to be reworked into the Banana Split Movie
I think that’s the problem. The intention was good, but he was trying to please EVERYONE
Springlock scene was ridiculously tame for what happens to you in canon. It's not just 'Oh no, some metal ribs', it forces the endoskeleton inside your body to the point where it crushes your bones and splits your flesh. Plus, there was barely any blood.
I’m pretty sure a lot of his blood was trapped inside the suit, heck even the first book’s graphic novel hardly showed blood in the spring lock scene
An absurd amount of screaming would have kept the seriousness of the scene, but the moment Willy said his famous line, I chuckled and lost all tense feeling.
If it wasn't 15+ then maybe we couldve got that
You also gotta realize that FNaF never really showed any blood in the games.
@@Johnichu11 What about that scene in the FNAF 3 mini-game where we see William actually have blood pouring out of his body?
This movie is pretty hard to review because it really is built on "you had to be there". Personally, I had a great time, it was fun, silly, not scary but exciting nonetheless. I really appreciate the set-pieces, and getting a chance to admire the animatronics as being actual children, and not setting up a sequel and forcing this to be a two-parter
I'm still shocked that this series started off as a simple point-and-click horror game and turned into a massive franchise with multiple sequels, novels and now a theatrical movie! Well done, Scott. You've actually really inspired me.
And it all started from a failed game called "Chipper and Son Lumber Co.", which was supposed to be Scott's ambitious project until it was later turned down by the critics, especially with that Jim Sterling guy. Scott later proved the critics wrong by making a horror game that redefined the horror genre.
Ok
While inspiring, Scott is a piece of shit human not worth being admired for his creativity alone.
@@minhocho5487 Nah brother. I think Scott is pretty much of a good guy and his creativity is something that should be appreciated. The reason why everyone hates him because he happened to be voting a party.
Disliking someone or something is one thing, but calling Scott a terrible human being is just uncalled for, unless if you have any evidence to prove your claims. If you don't have it, then that's your problem.
@@poweroffriendship2.0Thank you for that
You know it's a bit concerning when Universal Pictures planned for this movie to be released in theaters and in the Peacock streaming service at the same day
Usually that’s a red flag but Blumhouse is known to make there movies with a pretty low budget, therefore them putting it in Theatres and Peacock would still be profitable for them.
Yea the trend of “studio leaves own movie to die” is one that kind of sucks.. happened with Tenet and Suicide Squad 2 years ago.
@@brandonayala4605 Yeah but most of the time Blumhouse released a movie in theaters and Peacock is a red flag. Last year they did it with Halloween Ends which that movie sucked ass. So was Firestarter remake
It's cause they knew nobody would get Peacock to watch this.
Yes, and no. It’s an odd one. Day and date releases are proven to cut into profit margins so this will lose some money with this strategy. Does it denote a lack of confidence doing so if the act is self-defeating? On the other hand, so few people have Peacock what will the actual impact be in real dollars?
Willy's Wonderland was way better and Nicholas Cage didn't even say a single word in that movie.
I wouldn’t really trust hardcore fan opinions they don’t really have a standard and would’ve just taken anything to see the movie get made.
Yep. A lot of people are in that "honeymoon phase" where they're just really wowed by the practical effects and excited to see the characters on a big screen after years of waiting for this movie to happen. This is apparently supposed to be the first movie in a trilogy (Matthew Lilliard signed on to do 3 movies) and I'm morbidly curious how it'll all turn out...
As a fan of the games, i actually wasn't disapointed, this was everything i wanted. Left the cinema with a big grin on my face. I really don't get the hate. The fort building scene also makes sense in the context that these animatronics are kids. Which i think is easy for people to forget. They're hostile towards adults but friendly and playful towards kids.
I couldn't agree more but i did expect a little more from the movie the movie was alright though
Long time fan of the franchise here! Haven't seen it yet, plan to do so tomorrow, but i saw this in a video, and this will be my mentality going in to see it. "Leave your expectations at the door and enjoy yourself."@@oldsport
It’s an awful movie that doesn’t even follow the game lore, quit hyping it up. The only people who defend this movie are the ones who say “it’s for the fans”
@@Meepie_Playz It's called having an opinion, mabye try being happy for people who found joy in something you weren't able too instead of putting them down mabye? As for it not following the lore, Seriously? It was accurate all the way down to the animatronics? The restaurant, the missing children backstory, heck the ending is pulled straight from the games with William Afton's fate, only difference i can think of is Vanny being William's daughter and Mike being unrelated but every adaptation has a few changes from it's source it's nothing new. Doesn't make something bad. And given how most fans seem happy with it in comparison to all the critics that don't i'd say the film being made for the fans is a fair assumption to make.
I really could give less of a shit if it follows the lore or not. I'm excited to see the movie, so I'll keep hyping it up as much as I please. If you don't like that, then move on. Nobody asked you to reply anyway.@@Meepie_Playz
Sounds like we need to go back to Nick Cage in Willy's Wonderland, cause that movie was awesome.
It really was!
Willy's Wonderland will likely go down in history as a better FNAF movie than the actual FNAF movie.
Was looking for this comment, good call
Tf movie did yall watch? Willys Wonderland was incredibly mid and not scary in the slightest or even fun for that matter
It’s an awful movie that doesn’t even follow the game lore, quit hyping it up. The only people who defend this movie are the ones who say “it’s for the fans”
Experiencing the story felt very similar to the stories in the books. That is to say, not completely following what happens in the games but tying it together with some specific details. In this case it was a lot closer to the original.
Best parts are definitely the set design and the animatronics. Those look absolutely outstanding. And also some of the references. Like Foxy's humming. Not even going into all the stuff that's most definitely hidden in the background of pretty much any scene. Theorists will definitely have a field day with this one.
I'd say it's about 3 or a 4 if you're not a fan.
But if you're the kind of person who has a grin on their face when they hear the original FNAF song from The Living Tombstone play during the end credits, it might just be somewhere between 6 or a 7.
I fall into the second category since this was my childhood.
In my case, I've had a good time.
You seem like a fan, would I get in trouble with my 5 year old's mum if I show him the movie. Hes desperate to watch it and I just dont know
@@shayZero There is blood and some scene that could be considered gory. Although it's mostly implied through shadows and cutaways. Except for few.
Here I'll get a bit more into the spoiler territory.
A character has a mask with spinning gears inside put on his head which kills him. (Cut away)
There is a cupcake that bites people.
A few people people die which is mostly off camera. The last one dies by having their upper taken. (Shadow on a wall)
A person gets cut and scratched by claws and hooks multiple times which is visible.
A person gets stabbed.
This last one is heavier on spoilers. A suit with a person inside locks up which causes the metal bits inside to cut into them as they writhe in pain and get dragged away.
When it comes to jumpscares there's about 5 in total.
I 100% agree with your scores. Although I’m mixed, I was a long time fan since before FNaF 2 but haven’t enjoyed any of the new entries. I just wanted a plot heavy film, with a compelling story, but that’s not what happened. I did enjoy all the call-backs and references, but it left me disappointed. 4/10
as someone who only heard of the games and never played them, i gave it a 9 out of 10.
It isn't particularly scary, but to my surprise, FNaF was a really fun movie, and I was immensely amazed at the detail put into the set and costumes. I haven't enjoyed a video game film adaptation like this since Mortal Kombat, and I don't mean the recent one, I mean the one from 1995. Story-wise, the movie is a great way to introduce newcomers to the franchise and its lore while simultaneously rewarding veterans for their prior knowledge.
It was crap.
Yeah as long as your not going into it expecting a horror movie you should be fine. It’s more of a B movie. Surprisingly wholesome lots of fan Easter eggs and if you want to watch people die it exists here. A lot of fnaf fans are like 7 but they did stretch pg 13 deaths as far as they can go at times. Best way to watch it is on peacock drinking a goofing as group of friends at a watch party. Good intro to the series, nice b movie if your not familiar at all. Some better charichterizarion then I expected from a b movie. It did pretty well hope they make a sequel.
@@wastelesslearning1245still is crap. A movie with nic cage with the same concept does it better

CS's isn't a polarized review; he still had his criticisms of the movie. That said, he certainly was more forgiving of it than Jahns was. Like was said, it'll come down to the fans.
Stuckman is not a critic anymore. He just praises almost everything nowadays.
Most of the people in my audience cheered at many moments. And when a certain song played in the credits...
Props to Jeremy making it clear he didn't play the games. For us that did, at least for me and my theater, we had a fun time.
Dam those member berries carried then.
My theatre had a great time, i brought my friend who wasn't into fnaf and he enjoyed it too
The movie is surprisingly making good bank at the box office, which makes me wonder if we're moving into the era of video game adaptations now that the superhero genre has run its course. Even on the tv/streaming side of things, shows like The Last of Us, Arcane, and Castlevania have done very well.
I don't believe the superhero genre has run its course. There are still plenty of films and shows that are being praised and making bank. It's just that there's an influx of average or mediocre stuff in there, too. I loved GotG Vol. 3 and can't wait for the next season of Invincible and The Boys. I think the video game genre is in the same direction, quality products with some bad apples mixed in there.
a video game adaptation renaissance, if you will. after the early 2000s run of trash. I just hope they realise that games are generally more suited to serialised shows.
As somebody who has stuck around with FNAF for as long as it's been out: depending on how hands on Scott was with this movie, dream sequences that don't seem to make sense are par for the course for this series. The games are not so much about the games themselves, but the lore that surrounds them. I really feel like I'm gonna have to see it for myself anyway. It might be one of those things where there's so much more under the surface because...well, that's what a FNAF game always is.
Also, there is NO WAY this movie can be anything more than PG-13; otherwise its core audience would have a harder time watching it. xP
From what I've heard, Scott was hands on all the way through.
Didn’t read a single word. The entire FNAF franchise is garbage

I feel like if you’re a fan of the franchise (which I am) and you are familiar with the lore, you get a lot out of the film because there were so many qualities that stuck to the story behind it. (I would get into it but I don’t want to spoil anything).
However I will say, for those that aren’t familiar with the story, I can see why it would be confusing. As fans, WE know who William Afton and spring Bonnie are, we know who Vanessa is, and we know the detailed story behind the “bite of 87”. However, if your not a fan, you miss all that and I can see why the film would feel a little lackluster.
For me personally, I loved it because I’m a huge fan but I can see the reason behind why some don’t as well. I feel like it could have been a bit more balanced out as to please the fans but also make it simple for people who don’t know the franchise to understand.
As a guy who was always more a fan of Slenderman than FNAF in the heyday of the 2010s, I'm glad to hear that the FNAF movie had better respect for the source material/the fans than Hollywood did for my preferred horror icon did.
That's funny, I was really into FNAF until the novels (just never read them), and I never played anything after Sister Location. So I had no idea who Vanessa was, and she was my least favorite part of the movie lol
@@internetzenmaster8952 Yeah, I get it. I was hoping Slender would have a great movie too, especially since the setting in the original game was already so terrifying

fans for fnaf are really stupid so I get it
Jeremy said he feels sorry for the fans of FNAF for the movie but honestly fans are the ones who are going to enjoy it the most, so he really shouldn’t be sorry
I'd be sorry simply because at this point if it's poorly received and makes no money, say goodbye to a sequel unless they defile the source material to appeal to a broader audience.
We knew it was made for the fans and the fans are gonna enjoy it
Not that ones that have taste.
From what I've heard this movie was made for the fans, and it's releasing on Peacock the same day as theaters. I don't think Blumhouse is looking for a big return from this movie 🤷🏾♀️

No one will remember this movie in a month while fnaf fans pull at strings to justify its existence.
Ofc the fans are gonna like it. Stop painting that out as a negative thing. The movie was made for the fans, and most of them from what I hear were happy with it.
I'm shocked. Not with your rating but rather the fact that I'm questioning whether you actually watched the movie. His brother getting kidnapped "It doesn't really play into the movie but it's there." It's why he gets the job, it's why he sleeps at night, it's why he interacts with the animatronics and it connects him to the main antagonist. You don't need to like the movie just don't misrepresent it.
My thoughts exactly, why none of the top comments haven't called him out on that is strange. I guess when you got a big following simps will simp.
I think a 'Dogshit' rating may be a little harsh - I get that its nothing to write home about, and some of the comedic moments ruined the tension, but I was still entertained by it
When done well, a jumpscare isn't just BAM loud noise. A jumpscare should make you jump AND be scared. Often times with a jumpscare, you're ONLY reacting to the loud noise. With movies like Woman in Black, or Sinister however, the scare is also burned into your brain and it's what you're gonna think about when you look outside at night. THAT'S what a GOOD horror movie will do. I'm so tired of films like this over relying on a thing and failing to understand what makes that thing work. And sure jumpscares are the backbone of the franchise, but game jumpscares are fundamentally different from movie jumpscares. With a film you need a bit more substance.
That's what makes FNAF games more effective with the horror. It isn't just the jumpscares, but also the sound ambience in the restaurant keeps your seat in the edge as well.
FNAF isn’t scary at all mid trash game
problem its Hollywood and its video game IP, list me how many successful video adaptions have their been? Sad this movie was in production hell for 8 years, this what we got lol, i think he should took the earlier scripts just get it off the ground sooner
It Follows knew how to do jumpscares right...
The genius of the FNAF games is that they're high stress as you have to rapidly complete tasks and cameras and vents CONSTANTLY. It builds tension that can only be snapped by the game ending, and that's where the jumpscare comes in. The jump often comes when you think you're ok, and so it still manages to catch you off guard. The other thing that contributes to is effectiveness is how the jumpscare means you lost. You died. Game over. This means you're always dreading it because you don't want to lose and have to start over again. So now the same exact jumpscare can get you 10 times in a row as you scream half because of knee-jerk fright and half just out of frustration.
In short, the jumpscares in the games have clear CONSEQUENCES. That's what makes jumpscares more effective and memorable, and more than just a "gotcha." FNAF got it right in the first couple games, at least.

I just saw it, and I really enjoyed it. And I’ve been watching all the Game Theory videos for as long as Matpat has been making them. I don’t think you need to worry too much about the fans. I liked the gang befriending Abby, it was a bit reminiscent of security breach, with Freddy helping Gregory. And it makes sense that ghost kids would want to befriend the kid. The dream sequences also felt fitting to the franchise. I liked the tie it gave Mike to the missing kids. I feel like expectation has a lot to do with how this movie is perceived. For me, it hit the tone I was expecting, and I enjoyed delving into Mike and Abby’s struggles. This franchise has long been about family. So I appreciated that. I see myself coming back to this movie regularly.
I when I saw the dream sequences, I thought of them like those flashback scenes from Saw
As someone whose familiar with the FNAF series with more annoyance than acceptance (I was always a Slenderman guy myself), my understanding is the lore in the movie is basically a mish-mash of Scott Cawthorn's games (the original FNAF) and parts of FNAF: Security Breach (by Steel Wool), correct?
@@internetzenmaster8952I’d say it’s mostly the original games, with a touch of the first set of books. Vanessa is the only actual point I can think of that came from the steel wool games.
For me it’s different, I was a fan since before the second game came out, but by the time Sister Location was coming out, I was kinda giving up on the series. The thing that always drew into FNaF was the mystery behind it, the disturbing lore, especially the lore in FNaF 3. I’m not a fan the more recent FNaF games and lore that feels more light-hearted. What I wanted from this was a creepy movie with a disturbing story behind it that feels emotional, I wanted it to be deep and compelling, something that would leave you still thinking about it weeks later. I guess if that’s what the movie would’ve turned out like, it would’ve alienated a big chunk of the fanbase. And I’m not sure if FNaF fans would’ve wanted the movie I wanted, because I wanted something that would focus on it’s story and characters, rather than implementing the gameplay.
@@AlexMartinez-nj9io I get that. And I think I would have enjoyed that movie, as well. I feel like there are a few ways the movie could have gone that I would have enjoyed. It would have been nice if they’d leaned a little harder into the darker tones. But I enjoyed it for what it is, and I’m looking forward to the next one. Hopefully we’ll get more horror in that one.
I think the dream sequences were poking fun at Dream Theory, an old theory in the community. It stated each game was a nightmare a child had, hence the banter at the beginning bashing it. The cameo’s were what I loved, and there were indeed Easter eggs like Ella being in the back room (the springlock suit Vanessa set off.)
It really does feel like a fan movie. I understand that nonfans may not like it, but still. Its nice to see the other side b
You cant really get mad at fnaf for jump scares. Its literally the backbone of the franchise.

For me, the film is a solid 6/10. You can see the love and attention that went into it. However the issues I have with it just brought it down. The scares were scarce and ineffective, the extra cast was just there to remind you why it’s a 15+ rating, and Vanessa’s character just progressively got worse. However Josh Hutcherson did an amazing job and the set/costume design was incredible. But honestly it’s a film I’ll maybe watch once more in my life and never again.

@@oldsport It’s an awful movie that doesn’t even follow the game lore, quit hyping it up.
Good or bad reviews, this movie has made money.
Now it is better to have small budgets for movies to earn.
The thing with the games is, they didn’t start out with any manner of deep lore beyond “these animatronics are possessed, try not to die”. But starting with the second one, the creator added mini games to expand the story slightly, which people would dig through to make sense of what was going on, which I feel like prompted him in turn to add more (or to tease the fans who were digging for more by hinting at things, but never outright exposing them). It became this weird almost cycle and that was as interesting to watch as the game itself. It feels weird that this movie went off in so many different directions. I didn’t necessarily expect them to adapt the games’ messy canon or the books, but it felt like this movie was originally supposed to be something else with the evil aunt and the sister and the brother and they just splashed it with a FNAF coat of paint. I dummo, at this point, I feel like Banana Splits did it better.
"FNAF would have benefitted from being rated R"
Well, a lot of fans happen to be kids. That's probably why they couldn't go all the way.
I don’t see what he meant with that point tbh… the series doesn’t really show much gore to begin with - and is based solely on tension. I don’t think rated r is the cure to a mid film everyone thinks it is like say Venom 2 or Snyder movies.
@@firstlast9846 well there are a few moments in the series where gore would be appropriate. But I do agree that making it R-rated would be a terrible idea.

How can you be a fan and seriously enjoy this movie?
Yeah, FNAF RUclipsrs are shitting bricks over how great this movie is. They’re “emotional” about it. As someone who doesn’t play, but is fascinated by the “lore” of it, it was very ok. A lot of wasted potential. Didn’t really establish the story of Freddy Fazbear’s or William Afton enough. Just went for a generic horror movie set in a pizzeria. Idk why they didn’t lean into the story of FNAF more. Instead, we got a super sanitized version that just throws red meat to the fans, while trying to appeal to the most casual horror fans.
@@spiritboxgamer2787well, different people with different opinions. i enjoyed it because of the little easter eggs and because it felt nostalgic. being surrounded by other teens and young adults who had similar excitement and reactions to me made me enjoy the movie more
Moral Lesson: Don't waste your money and time on a movie franchise you are not familiar with or don't care about because its not worth it for you.
Well you might love it, doesnt hurt to try
But when its absolutely made for the fans, fans may get a lot more out of it

as someone who was the target demographic for this game when it came out, and am now an adult, i really would've like to see this movie get the R rating it deserved. yes, a lot of the "horror" stuff takes place off screen in the games, but this isn't a game, and people who haven't played the games are not going to understand how brutal this series is without some violence

It is interesting to see how Chris’ and and Jeremy’s reviews are so far apart on this film.
Chris who?
I watched Chris' and it was glowing compared to this.
It says a lot about how the fanbase's reviews will be. Pretty polarized, I expect. I hope I'll enjoy the film still.
Even a well known film critic in my country recently gave the movie a mid score, which is not bad, not great either but certainly above Jeremy's rating
@michaelohearn6616 Right??? I do enjoy both though, because there's usually a bit of balance. My holy grail of reviews is Jeremy, Chris, Dan Murell and Grace so I can make a very calculated decision on whether to see a movie in theatres or just wait to watch it at home. For the most part, I go anyway, if it's something I was looking forward to that's poorly reviewed. But like in the case of The Creator which I wasn't going to see but they all seemed to give really good reviews, I went and had a blast of a time, and is now one of my favourite movies of the year.

The problem is that it just wasnt scary, which is disapponting, considering many youtubers have been making far more terrefying FNAF vhs videos for the last few years under "analog horror".
Good story or not, you need to make a FNAF movie filled with tension and effective disturbing imagery of the aniamtronics. This movie didnt do that plain and simple
the fact that anyone was expecting FNAF VHS levels of horror in the first place is extremely stupid. there's a reason those are fan projects, because that's just not what FNAF is. "Not being scary" is also kinda a dumb thing to list as a "problem" mainly due to horror being a almost completely subjective topic
This is also the same guy who reviewed Cocaine Bear at a higher clip than this movie. And that movie was unbearable with no substance. I can't say the same for this FNAF movie
Lore is all over the place but from what I remember, Fnaf 1-3 tell a nice small story through implied information and mini games. Everything that came after was fun, but I just really like that simple trilogy about the original missing children and the killer, and the eventual punishment that killer gets.

This honestly sounds a lot like Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom where it’s essentially a “horror”movie that’s been neutered, castrated, and toned down for brain-dead children despite the disturbing and graphic nature of the source material. I’m getting so sick of Hollywood watering down so many horror franchises & projects just so they can appeal to the terrible easily pleased mainstream audience.
You summed it up perfectly. Thank you. Sweet jesus, I was starting to feel like I was in the Twilight Zone taking crazy pills.
It's more like if the first Jurassic World focus 85% in the family divorce of the kids parents and just 20 minutes or 15 of dinosaurs. Believe it
Fnaf could take some film lessons of Spielberg first JP about creating suspense, tension, build up and horror (everything that this movie lacks too).
Feel like this would have worked if it was more psychological in a sense. You know, the dude is on his first night shift with nothing really happening and he's goofing around , then at the end of the night he sees one of the animatronics walking around. He talks about it with management or whoever the next day and they don't know wtf he;s talking about. Maybe its implied that the ventilation is fucked and is causing him to halucinate. Then on night two, maybe he hears/sees a haluciantion of his kidnapped brother convincing him that his disappearence was related to animatronics, so the mc decides to try and find out more leading him sticking around for five nights and getting more fucked up as things escalate.
This script would have been 10 times better

Imagine if we got in first person pov, bonnie killing the dude in the closet, silence.
The door slowly opens, bonnie peaks out with the classic fnaf 1 blank stare, and he slowly comes out, his mouth and eyes slowly widen as he takes every step towards us

True, but I have a feeling the fans will love it solely because of the IP slapped on it.
they will love it for IP, but normal movie goer this will be mix bag, personally what i seen in trailer this just doesn't work, when characters can move around and animonics themselves look so fake, i can't find this scary, if it was rated R and it was total gore fest then you nail it

I can't express how much I appreciate "dogshit" being one of the rating he gives out. I switched over to Jeremy after Chris Stuckman stopped rating movies because he empathises with the creators or whatever so thank you Jeremy for keeping harsh critiques alive.
Chris Stuckman reviews are more catered for those that aspire to create movies rather than just casually watch for enjoyment. I feel like he does alot of film analysis when he watches and sees what he would do different rather then just criticize the overall narrative. Jeremy Jahns is more like that bro/friend you've had for a long time that you take too with you to the movies on the weekend that you could have a great, fun time with. I would die to see both do a Movie Review with each other though. That crossover needs to happen before my time is up.
I would say both have different objectives, so it both systems make sense. Jeremy is for more straightfoward and reviews for people who want to watch a film and no more than that, while Chris is more for those who are more focused in more than watching, and are looking for comparisions and examples. It's not more or less harsh, it's just different.
Chris decided to stop making bad reviews on films when he was making his movie. Not that I'm immediately jumping to conclusions, but I'm guessing he doesn't want people to give his movie bad reviews in case it's not very good. I think it's going to bite him in the ass in all fairness.

@dylan-tl7gl False, bad mom, unless if her kid is a teen, she is irresponsible. It's like giving them alcohol. And, I hope you don't have kids or stay away from kids, because you sound like a groomer, and or, a creep.
Fnaf itself isn't really gory. If there's any gory scene, it's done in an 8-bit style. I just saw the movie in theaters, and it was great. Sure it lacked jumpscares and that was somewhat of a letdown, but I personally think it had a good story. The only thing I wasn't fully sure on was the fact how William Afton was able to manipulate the animatronics, but fnaf is meant to be confusing. That's what makes it great.
Conclusion: I might be biased, but I loved the movie. The animatronics were impressive and the story telling was very good. Just like the games, it gives you a lot of answered and unanswered questions just making you question "When's the next movie coming out"? The jumpscares were the only letdown, IMO. I will have to say that the last few minutes in the ending definitely delivered. Just because the movie isn't scary doesn't mean it's a bad movie. Again, this is probably me being biased again.
Keep in mind that the original game was made by an indie developer who made the game that if failed would be his last ever game. His previous RPG games were criticized for being too creepy-looking and that's when he got the idea of making the game as a last attempt for success. 8 years totally makes sense. Most of the games are 2d and made by himself.

It's because Blumhouse produced the movie. Universal was just the distributor. They don't have the movie rights to use FNAF at their theme parks.
The Exorcist movie was way better than FNAF and the haunted house was awesome
I saw it yesterday at my local cinema, as it was released yesterday overseas including in the UK and for what it is, I thought it was pretty decent. But I can't deny, it does have its problems. The slow start did put me off a little but once things got going, it wasn't too bad. The dream sequences were a bit weird to me but I felt like there's deeper meaning to them that this movie did not want to explore. It did have a couple of spooky moments and comedic moments too that work well and Matthew Lilliard is the best part of this movie. Though, everyone tried their best. I am interested to see how a sequel to this would go though.
The dream sequences are pretty much directly tied into the lore established by the games. There was an attempt to explain things to the average movie goer but i guess it failed with all the negative reviews coming out.
I have to disagree with Jeremy, I really enjoyed the movie for what it was. It definitely wasn’t a great movie and maybe I want to watch it again once for the things I missed the first time. Go away Mr. Friendship!
I enjoyed the film for the first viewing. Future viewings, I could see wanting to hit speed up on it. Really enjoyed seeing Matt in it for a quick little scene. I've fallen off watching his theory videos/deep dives into the lore but he is why I enjoyed the lore of the series and read the trilogy of books with Charlie. I'm a little worried that FNAF the movie series will get out of hand like the game and short stories books have but if they could do a trilogy with a proper start, middle, end, I'd enjoy that. Maybe they can make the next one a bit more enjoyable on rewatch?
Watched this with friends that were deep into the lore of FNAF. I usually come to this channel for other opinions. (oddly we agree a lot)
Personsally I only watched gameplay of maybe the first 3 games, after playing the first one for myself. I was never deep into the lore and only went because my friends wanted to go as a group. One of them gave me the quickest brief or the lore prior. 'The owner of Freddies is a murderer whom killed kids in the suits and thats how they 'move/become alive'. So to the dream sequences - they were representing the kids souls communicating with Mike(though Im sure this was understood). As a horror film I agree an R Rating could have made it better, but it would've hurt it as a FNAF film. RUclipsrs really made the lore, and created a huge fanbase for this game. I disagree that this is a terrible video game translation movie, as it fits perfectly into the lore and idea of FNAF. As a horror film, and a movie in general, I wholely agree it didn't really feel like horror, and there was a lot of bad moments. I think Charlie's Moist Meter is the best video explaining my rating for the movie as well.
