It's actually not been terribly uncommon for me to experience that in mountain passes in northern Georgia, last time I took my 3-series out for a proper run I had *multiple* pickup trucks pull over to let me pass, and in the past I've even had pickups pull over for me when I was driving a 98 Honda Accord. I think when people notice you're moving quick and that you're *not crowding them* but just enjoying driving, there is a fair chance they will empathize and be accommodating. Usually that's the locals though, if you see out of state tags you can be guaranteed they'll be going 10 below the speed limit until the end of time.

Ordered the car purely by the computer graphics of the configurator... still have several months to wait and not seen a single 718 in shark blue for real.

@@rembo183 true... I also took out a Z4 for a testdrive, and BMW gave me a delivery time of only six weeks. Also a beautiful car, but but driving the Porsche was a totally different kind of thing.... so I went for the longer waiting time and will rely on playing with my Miata till I get the new toy.

You’re in 911 money, well over $100k, after taxes (if you pick a couple of modest options). I own a NC Miata PRHT which I daily drive; it’s my “Porsche”!😊lol. I love Porsche Boxsters but I try to stay practical and you can’t have more fun driving! I used to own a Boxster base manual and loved it but the radio sucked! Maintenance and repair costs plus the stress over public parking make a Miata the best choice for me! A Miata is the answer for this enthusiast!

@@houseking9211 what track record? the snap oversteer issue is wildly exaggerated and its often the cause of driver error regardless, toyota fixed the suspension on later revisions of SW20 anyways to address complaints the MR2 is also older than the Miata by a few years haha
Haven’t driven a 718 of any trim yet, but certainly a dream car. My little 986 is fun, can only imagine double the power and much better suspension. Denny did a great job helping out with this spec too. Hopefully we see this strolling around Newport!
The 986 is such a roller skate drive, maybe even go kart like compared to the later gens. When the tires are shot on the 986, it's heaven on the street.

Got mine a month ago. I LOVE IT! So good. The engine howls above 4k, so I think it is a little misleading to say it’s too quiet. Maybe if you have to hear every low rpm downshift.

The Spyder is special. Regarding the build, it is of course up to the owner, but I would have kept the 718 Spyder Badge (I think it looks good), and passed on some of the silly options like leather covered fuse-box cover in favor of say the Burmester audio system over the Bose

I love that. Naturally aspirated and sounds fantastic. This 718 is positively spartan compared to its compatriots and that is what works. 680 HP in a Ferrari sounds awesome, but is it useable? It will get you in trouble. 30 years ago when The Viper debuted with a V-10 at 400 HP, it was from another planet. I had seen the show car, but The Viper was a show car that was actually sold to the public. The thing is that he Viper did its utmost to try to kill you. This 718 has 400 HP is useable and competent. It "could" track day, but this 718 can cruise all day. That's cool.

A Future Classic car, its just a perfect car, NA 4.0 engine, manual, same handling as a GT4, convirteble, perfect size, mid engine, low center of gravity, 420 hp, beautifull design.
A true manual to thank goodness. Hate paddle shifters. Yea you can shift faster with paddles. But a true sports enthusiast will always prefer 3 pedals.
This is the thing! I agree! I have a 2016 Spyder and it is simply AMAZING. It’s the ideal sports car for mountain/canyon roads. I wish the 718 sounded as good as the 981 Spyder but I guess that will keep the 981 highly desirable. Great color on this car - wow!
I had the 981 and ran dundon race headers, totally transformed the thing into a CGT sounding beast not to mention a cobb tune and some nice HP boosts. Vette owners jaws dropped when the messed with my “lil” Boxster. I imagine the same set up on the 718 will do the same which I plan on. Check my videos if interested, I have some good sound clips and vids of the car at full song.
The problem the 718 Spyder is the GPF and the bad center muffler, just changing the center muffler the sound is really good! and if you eant more you cab take out the GPF filters too. This problem is commen due to the new regulations. About the future 718 spyder will be more desirable, it's the first Spyder that is a GT without roof like the speedster.
The USA SPYDER cars do not come with GPF. So doing Fabspeed or Dundon headers and exhaust you get 44 more hp & correct the needed noise/exhaust sound‼️Plus reduce 16 pounds off the overall weight!!!

Hey Ted! Love your reviews, and wanted to ask if possible could you review a basic/normal 991.2 C2S? I know everyone bangs on about the GT3s and GTS but the normal C2S seems to be a more well rounded car for daily use. Way more content on YT on GT3s than on the normal Carreras.
The Porsche is one of the best sport cars, and it handles good i would love to get me one of this i find for me very expensive to buy and the parts i think are not cheap to get, i like the 911 GTS sport those are soo cool.
Give me this with the SOUL valve performance exhaust and I am would be set for life in driving enjoyment.. I really like the separate auto blip button, and not buried in menus. (get to start practing my heel toe shifting when I head back to the office in September, too bad it won't be in a sports car, just my Mazda6 6spd, zoom-zoom
Thanks for the video! This car is only missing a shorter final gear ratio. I presume it hits almost 80mph at rev limiter, which I find a missed opportunity for creating a more engaging driving experience without breaking the speed limit by a large margin.
Guess I haven't even bothered to look for it, but never see 'tuned' 718's' and I think that's a good thing (I'm sure they exist). They're so dope as is why bother? Even tuned 911's bother me for some reason lol. They're just so solid and fast as they come from the showroom.

When you talk about good throttle mapping are you saying that they make the throttle sensitivity nice so blipping the throttle is more intuitive, or is the rev matching happening more on the software side on a shift and then if you're heavier on the throttle out of the shift the synchros and software are able to handle it smoothly? I guess part of what I'm asking is if you turn off auto-blip and don't touch the throttle on a downshift what would happen.

718 Spyder is by far superior to the 981 Spyder as i own both its clear like water. @Nick Levin If the sound you are after buy a boom box.
