As an owner of multiple Stellantis/FCA products, I will put this in the nicest way possible…if the top tier Daytona EV doesn’t make a Tesla Model S Plaid & Roadster seem slow in comparison, best of luck selling these unless they are literally a fraction of their price.
just needs to be faster than boosted long range that's plenty already. Plaid is so gimmicky.
Its a dodge it will sell itself
Valid point. I was looking at the numbers for the Plaid: 200mph,1.9sec(0-60), and 348mi for the range all for 127K. Pretty hard numbers to beat performance wise.
I wonder what’s gonna be the scat pack version of this

Dodge In 2011: we may have had electrical issues
Dodge in 2022: we are electrical issues
Looks cool, shouldn't be called a Daytona charger tho, just call it the Dodge Banshee
Its a long shot but I feel like Take2 Interactive would take exception to that.
GTA universe has the Bravado Banshee which at the time was basically a 2nd Gen Viper. If Take2 has claim to it, then that means Dodge cannot use the name as a model. But a trim level would, as far as I know, make sense.
Now Dodge and Take2 need to get together and make the new Charger SRT EV have a counterpart in the GTA universe. Because it IS kinda cool for an EV
Should've been something different not the same name. The Dodge Bolted Charger or something clever, with a cool new symbol
@@elespicyxv695 I think Banshee suits it. But I think they could have dropped the Charger name. Or Daytona. Either one. Banshee as a trim is fine. They are trying to stick to what keeps us paying attention, and that's the Dodge Legacy. I DO like the return of the Fragzog. I wasn't alive when that was in use. So to my generation and younger, this is new.
Charger seems like a perfect name for an electric car to me.
@@elespicyxv695 the symbol is not new
Geez the exhaust sounds like the bicycle handle bar add-ons we had in the 70's where it had a speaker in it and and you cranked the handle to make a motorcycle sound LOL

That badge is old school; I remember seeing them on 60s era Dodge Chargers (my Dad had a number of them when I was growing up). I'm not at all excited by EVs in general but I gotta say, if I were to ever even consider buying one, it would ONLY be this one. I love the homage to the old school Chargers while still being very up to date. It just looks pure badass.

At least Ford has figured out how to keep the V8 Mustang alive for the coming years... Dodge could've done the same, but I don't think the European overlords at Stellantis like V8s. I had a feeling the merger would taint the brand.

Front and rear are fantastic. The charger heritage is very apparent in the styling. I get the feeling that if you were to cut about 6-12 inches out of the design behind the B pillar, it would look much better. However, overall, it does look very nice.
I agree completely.
ive heard that in person looks nicer (TFL youtube channel)
1000% looks bloated
It does look a bit bloated in the rear, but maybe they will make a sloped roof model one day?
But I really love the design, I definitely plan on buying one someday.
I think it's a COMPLETE visual let down. It's extremely boring. Nothing eye catching at all to be honest. It reminds me of an 80s prototype that was a fail
The used market for Chargers, Challengers and Durango’s is going to go through the roof. Future Dodge sales, not so much.

The sound they played for that EV Charger (reviving) was horrible
It's probably better in person, though I'm sure they'll make a few tweaks in the future. Because the exhaust actually moves air, you can feel it in your chest, I've heard it described.
I was sceptical at first hearing that you guys would be making an electric muscle car but then I realized if anyone was going to make an electric muscle car correctly it would be dodge I’m very happy to see that I was correct

Let's just hope the performance numbers meet or surpass most of today's performance vehicles.
I wish the sound was a bit more electric if that makes sense. It feels like it is trying to copy a v8 too much and it just doesn't work very well
@@herbie4160 agreed. Hopefully the sound can be lowered or turned off or changed to something else. We'll just have to wait for the production model to find out

This is more about the experience and joy of having a car that really is a muscle car. Loud and in your face. Where Dodge is going, is not it and don't even get me started on the phony sound the new one makes. We are seeing the death of the muscle car just like what happened in the early 70's. Watch the big auctions, the American cars that go for big money are the muscle cars from the 60's and 70's. We are about to repeat this.

Agreed
I wish it sounded more "electric" not a vacuum cleaner
So far, coolest EV i've seen. I am not sold on the sound, yet. But you've got the Mustang Mach-E beat in my book.
Hopefully the base model isn't too expensive with enough range to get from phx to Flag and back on one charge.
So who will be the first person to do a Hellcat swap?
Think with the way things are going they'll hike up gas prices to the point where people won't even be able to afford a Prius as a daily to get EVs as the only option.
Look up stories of people paying more for electric charging than gas though. When the majority of cars are electric, they'll be just as expensive as gas.
Issue is no county’s power grid can handle that amount of EV cars some country/states are already struggling with the current amount of EV’s

@@tspidey007 yes because we have unlimited resources 😂😂😂
@@elespicyxv695 where do you think the electricity comes from in a lot of places? What about the battery material for these that’s extremely finite as well? What problem is EV solving in terms of resource depletion?
@@victisomega4248 1. Even if all electricity comes from coal, EVs are more than 2 times as efficient. This will get even better as we switch to renewables/nuclear.
2.The battery material is not extremely finite. There's plenty of lithium in the world to supply the transition to EVs, even though there are shortages right now, that is mostly because the mining infrastructure is lagging behind. There is also work being done in recycling these batteries at the end of their lifespan so that will reduce mining requirements in the future. We have done this successfully before with lead-acid batteries for cars.
3. Yes, mining for lithium isn't the most eco friendly option out there, but it's significantly better than continuously emitting CO2. Furthermore, as battery technology improves, you will need 2-3 times less battery material. In addition, there are other battery chemistries being researched that use more abundant materials.

I talked to many people about this issue. I hope they make it a nice bench seat in the back instead of the 2 bucket seats or at least have an option to keep the bench seat.
