  • This collection of AMC Javelins and Spirits is pretty crazy! Even a couple of extremely rare AMC Spirit AMX models in the mix as well as a couple of American Eagle 4x4 cars. Check out the vans PACKED with parts, and the fully functional AMC Spirit drag car in the garage. Tons of cars and parts for AMC people. You'll find some nice surprises and treasures in this collection of American Motors cars and parts!

    That one with the vortex wheels was really cool! I barely remember seeing those AMX Spirits on the road when they came out in 79. You could see that hood decal coming a mile away. Coincidentally the Monza had a really cool hood decal too. It looked like a spider. It was a fun time for cars then. Very cool collection! Thanks for sharing and good luck to the bidders! 👍

      The car manufacturers tried pretty hard to be cool in the late '70s and early '80s, even though horsepower numbers were at their lowest.

    As a diehard AMCer myself, (I own a 74 Gremlin)that place is like Disneyland to me. I could probably identify 90% of the parts packed in those cars and vans. I wish I was there to help document a lot of the parts and pieces as I’d make sure those parts and cars went to good homes, especially other AMCers.

    Tim, cool AMC find! Couple notes: The fender flares on the Spirit AMX are the same as the flares on the AMC Eagle. Rear spoiler is identical as well. The AMX has a front spoiler that integrates into the front flares to complete the look. I’m 99% sure the alloy wheels you show on one Spirit are a factory option, not aftermarket. I was really into Gremlins for a bit as the 1978 Gremlin X was a 242 straight 6, 4 speed with a 1 inch front sway bar. This combo made it an oddly good Showroom Stock road race car! AMC made a Pacer X, same spec and it too was road raced in era. When the Gremlin first came out it was a very successful race car in the IMSA RS series, 72-77. Other odd cars in that set were the V6 Buick Skyhawks, the Pacer, Dodge Colt, Mazda RX2 & RX3, BMW 2002 & 320i and others. Crazy to think of all those the Gremlin was one of the best cars! If there had been an old Spirit road race car in the mix you know I’d have been bidding!

      Actually, they are similar but different. The SX/4 did not have the front spoiler like the AMX and also did not widen out at the bottom of the flares like the Spirit AMX did. The front spoiler also attached to the front flares on the AMX while the SX/4 did not have such an item for ground clearance reasons. The rear flares on the AMX also flared out at the front of the flare to match the rear of the front flare (kinda like bellbottoms...lol) The rear spoiler, however, was shared between the AMX, SX/4 and the Spirit GT. It also required an electric trunk popper with a contact on the tail panel and a switch in the glovebox to open the hatch. Cars with the spoiler did not come with a way to access the lock in the rear hatch with a key- but the lock cylinder was there under the spoiler! The AMX and the GT and DL with the radial tuned suspension option also shared the same springs and sway bar packages, with different parts used for 6 and 8 cylinder cars.

    I drop a 390, 4 speed with a 3:15 rear end drivetrain and crossmember , out of a 69 amx in to a 82 Spirit and it all bolted right in , AMC never change anything about there cars right up to the end , even the factory holes and mounting points and petals bolted right in :)

    That was quite the AMC stash he had there. I owned a 69 AMX 390, 4spd, black on black. I got a ticket for doing a burnout. I think the charge was "Excessive Demonstration of Speed" or something silly like that. I also had a friend with a 74 AMC Javelin 304, 3spd, blue with white stripes and black interior. And last, but definitely least, I had a friend with an 84-85 (?) AMC Eagle 4wd. He thought we could take it 4 wheeling, unfortunately because it had so little ground clearance, it bottomed out and hit everything, bumps, rocks, you name it, it hit it. Lol thanks for the video

    Them things ain't parts cars them are projects! Idk how it works down south with no titles but here in Washington that's not a problem as long as it ain't stolen just needs state patrol inspection and wait 3 years for the title

    • @HotRodHoarder
      @HotRodHoarder  Год назад

      Yeah, every state is different, but Tennessee is pretty easy to get a title. Used to be a headache, but now there is a 30 year affidavit, where you can get the VIN inspected and they'll get you a new title. Pretty nice for cars like this.
