  • Welcome to the video about 20 Rarest AMC Muscle Cars Ever Made! | What They Cost Then vs Now
    75. This RUclips video highlights 20 of the rarest and most unique AMC muscle cars ever produced. Although not usually regarded as one of the top American muscle car manufacturers, AMC (American Motors Corporation) developed some powerful and special performance models during the 1960s and 1970s muscle car era. Models like the AMX, Javelin, and Rambler Rebel positioned AMC as a serious player in the muscle car wars alongside Chevrolet, Ford, and Mopar. With a focus on lightweight designs and potent V8 engines, AMC muscle cars like the SC/Rambler and Hurst SC/Rambler offered American car buyers distinctive and nimble alternatives to the heavy muscle cars from other brands. AMC even partnered with Hurst for specially modified versions of their Javelin and AMX muscle cars. While short-lived, AMC was an innovative force when it came to muscle cars. This video shines a deserved spotlight on the rarest AMC-produced muscle cars that have been largely overlooked for too long. Any true fan of classic American muscle cars needs to see these special AMC rarities.

The AMX 2 seater lasted three years. ‘68, ‘69, and ‘up. AMC some of the AMX drag cars to Super Stock Teams to see what they could do with them. With the technology of the day, one team got 529 hp out of a 390. This engine used cylinder heads made by Crane Cams. The 1970 and later Dog Leg heads performed better and most racers used those, fully ported and polished.

It's really cool to see some really cool Muscle Cars from the badass Independent Car Company called AMC. Imagine what AMC would've been like had both Studebaker and Packard merged together with Hudson and Nash along with Kaiser and Jeep to create AMC in 1954?

@qmusclecars Well when the 50s came the big 3 we're taking huge ground by learning everything from. The independent car companies and destroy em as well, if the Independent car companies want to survive either they'll to merge with one another or have all of em come together to merge into a Corporation and that is AMC and those would be the divisions under AMC.

@@qmusclecars I had the CJ5 AMC made traded it years ago like an idiot but I was only 20. My older brothers sold their Javelins and AMX's about 30yrs ago. The 2nd oldest built the 360 that came in the Javelin and it was a nasty greenish factory color. He painted it candy apple red and changed it from auto to a 4spd with a 200 shot. The AMX's the oldest had were all 3 black the 2 had that ugly expensive interior but all 3 had that 401 and that Javelin always smokes them. They were neat cars especially the cockpit of the drivers side of the AMX the way the dash curved and the shifter was like an upside down U with real wood handle. I was only 13 when they had them n they are 15yrs older than me. Oldest is almost 60 now so was a while back....

AMC made exceptionally appealing cars and only three things crushed their potential success; lack of confidence in their survival by the press, and lack of capital for growth (especially for promotion/advertising), and no presence on the NASCAR scene (because of lack of capital). The big three US car manufacturers had friends in the press who were always leaking articles about AMC being in the financial ropes. That caused the buying public to stay away from AMC as they feared buying a car that could become worth almost nothing overnight and have trouble getting parts and service. It was a sad reality as AMC really made good cars and that was because they had great people at all levels.

The Matador Machine package was only available in 1971. Why would you show a 1974 ugg-mobile Matador coupe? And where did you get your information on the 1979 Pacer X? Cracker Jack??
The 4.6 Inline 6 was only available in MEXICO and was not used in the USA or Canada. Secondly, the Pacer X is merely a dress-up package of a regular Pacer. There was no such thing as a "Performance Package" for the Pacer. Even the 304-equipped Pacers were still nothing to write home about. Get your facts right and stop producing click-bait.
