Good Lord, if I had half of this chap's talent, I'd be overjoyed!
Wonderful video, just incredible. Thank you for creating and posting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice idea with the jigsaw for the mortise, I have not seen that one before.
Ya... thanks.
The first time someone showed me how to do it this way, I thought he was crazy.
Awesome to watch. Learning lots!
Glad to hear it!
That wood is gold. So too the workmanship.
Thanks. Very kind!
Super
really a piece of art made by craftsmen.
Beautiful work.
Thank you! Cheers!
Outstanding Craftsmanship...old-school professionalism in a modern corner-cutting world. Well done, Gentlemen.
Thanks very much, sir.
Jesus, that's one hell of a project you have there buddie!!!
Yes, lots of work!
Looks Great guys...!!! Keep On Fittin'....
🧐🧐👍👍👍
Thanks! Will do!
Nicely done. Clean tigjt joints.
Thanks 👍
You made that look easy. I'm looking forward to more videos thank you helped me a lot.
Glad it helped
Amazing Craftsmanship!
Thanks. I appreciate the comment!
C'est du super travail, bravo 😅
Nice work on the video. Really nice to see the verification of the joinery before assembly. Having done a few Timber Frames I can appreciate the importance of getting it right especially with Scarf joints. You are obviously very experienced but I was curious as to why you use the term "Post and Beam". My understanding from school and the market place was that this is really true Timber Frame as to me Post and Beam infers that there are some hidden mechanical fasteners used. In any case no matter what you call it, it's very pleasing to watch. Cheers John
Thanks for the comment, John.
I also build log homes, and there are 2 main techniques that are Scandinavian and the other is post and beam with round logs. So basically, Timber frame is post and beam with square timber. So you are correct to call this timber frame.
This is an obvious detail that I should have mentioned in the video or even in the title. The elephant in the room. 😆
@@MEDASINE Thanks, I did not want to get into semantics but I appreciate the info. Keep up the great work.
Building with big wood looks satisfying
Watch out it's addictive...
Excellent!
Many thanks!
Could you provide a link or description to the angle grinder attachment you are using to level out of the face of those cuts? Great Work love the video
5'' angle grinder sanding pads.
Get the 36 grits or 24 for rough and 50 to 80 grits for finishing if needed.
At any hardware store.
good dog that does not freak out on saw volume.
Yes, I was surprised every day with that dog because he's just a puppy. Also, he looks way closer to the work on the video than he really was. When I saw the video, I thought it was scary close 😬
Love your technique.
What species of wood are you working with?
White pine and Douglas fir. The fir is way stronger.
good shit mang !
Thanks man
👍👍👍Thanks.
No no no, thanks to you for watching!
Superbe travail!
Looks great, nicely done! Two quick questions: How do you fasten the top lap joint? And, do you recommend a lap joint to turn a corner?
GRK fasteners for the lap joints. You can also use dowels.
You can use lap joints in corners too.
@@MEDASINE Great, thanks! If you use a dowel to fasten the top lap joint, I assume you just make the post tenon longer and have it extend through the bottom lap joint. Is that correct?
You could. You can also put the dowel from the top of the top beam to the bottom beam, then true the post vertically. You could put 2 or 4 dowels depending on the size. One each side of the tenon.
@@MEDASINE Perfect, thanks. Again, nice work!
C'est beau!
Merci
Schöne Arbeit
Danke
Great job! Did you have a structural engineer or architect draw up your plans, or did you create the design yourself?
There was no engineering for the timber frame part. This project was a home owner contractor, and it was done like the home owner decided. It's not the best way to go. If you don't have much experience, it's better to have your project engineered by a professional. Some people are afraid of them, but in the long run, it's a good safety net.
Is there a video of the angle cuts for the braces??
Non sorry.
I shuld of got that in to.
What is it that you're trying to figure out?
Post more please!
I will.
Look for a mafell ls103. Pretty easier to work.👍👍🇩🇪
It's on my wish l🎯
I love how the braces magically appear at 14:40. 🤨
Ya, the magic of editing. We actually dropped the beam in place quickly to see the fit . If everything looks good, we lift it back again and insert the brace, which is usually tested on the ground first. Good cache!
