Thanks for this, very informative. Interesting how you have to now go through the Home app where as on Apple TV they just have to be on the same network as the phone and it appears straight away in the list of devices.
Mini Eggs - I don’t use the Home App at all. I just stream straight from the iPad to TV

Apple TV has been added to C9 and I have tried it
and it supports Dolby vision

Having the airplay connection issue as many others are on my LG OLED C9 with an IPhone XR. Will post again if I figure anything out. Tried turning off Home under iCloud, restarting and turning it back on. No luck....

Looks like shortening the name of the TV/set top box may work..
mine wouldn't connect at all. so what I did to get it to work was I paired my phone with the tv via bluetooth first, and for some odd reason after that HomeKit recognized the tv.... try it out.
Nice Review 🙌🏼 every RUclipsr reviews the Tv except the Apple Airplay 2, HomeKit, and Apple TV. Another reason why I should upgrade my C8 to the C9. Thanks for the demonstration ! Subscribed

You did it! You solved my problem! Thanks so much !! As you indicated, I went to my LG OLED dashboard and highlighted AirPlay and yep, sure enough, looking at the top right-hand corner, it said AirPlay was off. That simple. I turned it on, told my wife to try AirPlay again on her iPad, and there it was............worked! Once again, thanks. I hit a thumbs up and subscribed to your channel.

Hi Paul, awesome video, that option works even better than Apple TV AirPlay option itself. Unfortunately I don’t have that tv, so I’m stuck to regular Apple TV AirPlay. 😀. Cheers. Keep on showing us more stuff and info’s.

Found this issue. What i thought was in 4K dolby vision (morning show according to info about it) IS not. I bought 'the mule' in 4K dolby vision and cast it to tv. The LG tv recognize the signal and displayed the logo on top roight corner. Anyway thanks for the explanation of the whole airplay connection. I followed each of the steps you went through. Kudos to you.

Hey! Im having this tv delivered this week. I also have 2 homepods that are linked to each other as stereo. The tech specs say the tv connects to homepod, but can you confirm i can use my homepods as a general external speaker for this tv?

Thanks for the video, I’ve been waiting to see how that set up works. Almost seems like the Apple TV will be killed off with this feature, which makes it a little odd that they’ll still feel the need to announce a new model tomorrow.

Can you Airplay audio for regular TV content to airplay speakers? Let’s say I’m watching local ABC through my antenna or cable box. Can I airplay sound to a HomePod or is that functionality only for apps that support it?

Hey Paul, do you know if Airplay only works for 4K HDR movies that you've downloaded? I've just got my C9 and I'm testing airplay from my iPhone and my Mac to my C9 with some of the new Apple TV+ original shows that are in 4K Dolby Vision. I'm having a problem where they only stream over Airplay at 1080p and not in Dolby Vision or HDR.
Can I stream Audio via Airplay 2 with the TV screen off from the start? Thinking of getting some good speakers, and using the tv only as a receiver for the audio from Airplay 2 :)
Can you also do apple airplay on the LG nanocell sm8600?

Is the HomeKit setup essential ?
I was trying to get mac to connect first off. Getting as far as entering pin code but code is rejected every time.
Same with iPad pro.
When I tried to add device via homkit afterwards it saw the tv but would not connect to it. (not recognised message)

Hey there. I've got the new iphone 11 pro and the same OLEDC9. with my subscription for TV+ activated for one year for free, I watched first episode of morning show which supposedly is in 4K dolbyvision. I started casting the show to my tv and it worked seamlessly. The only problem is that the show was in HD. Is there any settings that need to be adjusted in tv to allow 4K content to be cast ??? Thanks

Hi does the 2020 LG NANOCELL 8 series send the audio via the HomePod via the AirPlay?

Hey Paul got a question for you. I live in Belgium and would like to have access to HBO max. Since LG doesn't support the HBO max with built-in app. I figured that once i managed to get access to HBO max i could airplay it to LG C9. Do you think the sound over airplay will go to the receiver hooked up to TV and decode atmos (the same way it does for all built-in streaming apps i have installed) ? in order to do all this i'll have to purchase a flashed router with VPN up and running So all the devices connected to it could communicate (airplay)
By broadcasting via AirPlay 2, you don't lose Dolby Atmos on the TV?

I just bought LG LED 65UM7300 .. i could read easily that there was AirPlay feature inbuilt in the tv..but the sales man was so dumb he was repeatedly saying you have to buy apple tv for that.. but the moment I received my tv i watched this video and followed the steps and now i have it 🔥💯❤️ & i’am loving it.. i used to think android screen mirroring is good but Airplay is a Godfather ❤️

Does this work with Netflix? As much as I know you can not use a VPN on the LG directly so using a VPN on the I iphone with Netflix and then stream to the LG? Will get my TV next week so ı can not test it.

I recently purchased the c8 2 months before the c9 released, and I find it really disheartening not getting airplay 2 which could be added with a simple firmware update. Samsung has updated there 2018 models to getting this feature and it would be nice to see lg giving a damn about there supporters and giving us this feature as well.

apparently there is no way to do it ( disabling it in the menu takes just few clicks to turn it on again, no pin required)
also, i am connected with ethernet cable to the internet, yet i can use airplay

Great video. My TV displays the airplay connection when I select HomeDashboard but when I select airplay nothing happens. Have you got any recommendations as to how I can solve this?

It's a shame the newer lg remotes don't have the pause button anymore. How do you pause the movie without a button on the remote? I'm guessing you have to press video menu and then scroll to the pause button and select that? Hopefully these lg oled tv's accept other remotes

Sorry to bother you once more with that but have you ever had a chance yet to try casting the tv+ 'morning show' (clearly 4K dolby vision) to tv set ? For movies , it works well but still doesn't work with any os tv+ series. it might be apple policy when you stream series through a monthly subscription is different that when you bought a movie (might have the full license authorising the dolly vision conveyance to tv when streaming the signal out). I dunno just spitballing.

Very very useful and very well done. Subscribed. I am close to buying the c9 but my main concern was streaming Netflix 4k to my iPhone (no problem, plenty of bw) and then Airplaying to the TV at 4k. The vid store guy said could not be done. Looks like he was wrong.

This feature is exclusive to lg 9 series? I wonder if it works with 8 series oleds.
At the moment it is only on the 2019 models.

I just bought the Lgs 2019 55 inch OLED (B9 series). Im trying to connect my new apple ipad air 3 to it through your instructions. I get as far as can the code on the screen and my ipad is stuck, displaying a loading white screen and saying " Loading Accessories and Scenes". So i tried updating both the ipad and the LG tv and still no lick. Any advice? Or is the B( series not compatible. But then why have the Airplay icon under general settings???
