    I’m currently preparing to get my masters in Global public policy. How does public policies and public admin relate? My focus is to work with the Government

    • @ConsultKano
      @ConsultKano  Год назад +1

      The two are closely linked. One of the functions of public administration is to implement public policies. Public administrators are essentially responsible for 'actioning' policies. Therefore they need to understand the policy process in order to do their jobs effectively.

    I am an American looking to study policy in the UK (good schools plus lower tuition rates).
    Would you say it would be more beneficial study Global Public Policy at SOAS or Policy and Management at York? I’m looking for a job ideally in the UN but I also want to keep my options open.

    What would your advice be to a young graduate like me with no work experience hoping to get a job in government?

      Thanks for reaching out.
      Remember to treat the process of looking for a job as a job in itself. That means that:
      - "Do it everyday"
      - "Be consistent" and
      - "Never give up".
      Don't get discouraged if the job you really want doesn't come through immediately. Sometimes that first job or internship or learnership is just the right the door you need to open other opportunities. So stay positive and have faith in your abilities and skills.
      Once you find that job, remember to use every opportunity to learn from those around you. And if you get a chance, make sure that you upgrade your skills and knowledge through further learning and education.
      All the best and let us know how it goes.

      Please refer to this Quora response: qr.ae/pre92w which sums up the first part of your question.
      For the second part of your question, if you hold a public administration qualification (particularly a post graduate degree in public administration); you may consider working for international organizations such as the United Nations, where you can work in international policy research or inter-governmental cooperation, etc. Or even work for international companies and non-profit organizations. This will obviously depend on your desires, skills, insights and abilities.

      Hi @@ManoBilli-nh6vq
      Congratulations on completing your Master of Public Administration! That's a great accomplishment.
      We see that you're interested in pursuing a Master of Science in Project Management (MSPM) or a Master of Philosophy in Public Administration (MPhil PA). Both degrees have their own advantages, so it really depends on what you're looking for in a graduate program.
      Here's a brief overview of the two degrees:
      - Master of Science in Project Management (MSPM): This degree is designed to teach you the skills and knowledge you need to be a successful project manager. You'll learn about project planning, execution, and control, as well as the various project management methodologies. An MSPM can help you advance your career in project management, whether you're working in the public sector, private sector, or nonprofit sector.
      - Master of Philosophy in Public Administration (MPhil PA):This degree is more research-oriented than an MSPM. You'll learn about the history, theory, and practice of public administration. You'll also have the opportunity to conduct original research on a topic of your choice. An MPhil PA can help you advance your career in public administration, whether you're interested in working in government, academia, or the private sector.
      So, which degree is right for you?
      If you're interested in a career in project management, then an MSPM is a great option. If you're interested in a career in public administration, then an MPhil PA is a great option.
      Of course, you could also consider pursuing both degrees. This would give you a strong foundation in both project management and public administration. However, it's important to note that this would be a more demanding option.
      Ultimately, the best way to decide which degree is right for you is to talk to your academic advisor and to research different programs.
      We hope this information is helpful.

    @Kano Consultants @ConsultKano Fortunately I studied Public Administration & I work in a University as an Administrative Assistant for 4yrs now promoted to an Admin Officer. I really do love my job but I'd like to branch into International Organizations but I'd really like to know what online courses would you suggest i take for career progression?

    • @ConsultKano
      @ConsultKano  Год назад +2

      There are a number of online courses that can help you prepare for a career in international organizations. Here are a few suggestions:
      1. www.coursera.org/learn/international-organizations-management
      2. www.classcentral.com/subject/international-relations
      3. www.mooc-list.com/tags/global-governance
      4. www.coursera.org/courses?query=international%20development
      These are just a few suggestions, and there are many other online courses available that can help you prepare for a career in international organizations. The best course for you will depend on your interests and career goals.
      In addition to taking online courses, you can also gain experience in international organizations by volunteering or interning with an organization. This will give you the opportunity to learn about the work of international organizations and to develop the skills and knowledge you need for a career in this field. Finally, you can also network with people who work in international organizations. This will help you learn about job opportunities and to get your foot in the door.
