    I'm aware that there are several articles critiquing Dunkirk more heavily for its cast and other stuff but non of them are featured in Brooks' video. Although I might disagree with some of those articles, what they have to say is still 100 times more interesting than anything NoDumbass has to say.

    • @davidjones272
      @davidjones272 4 года назад +16

      @Weston Meyer Russia wasn't at war with Germany, the ussr was. The ussr covered a massive area, (even larger than modern Russia) most of it in Asia, where there are now numerous countries. As such the ethnic make up of the ussr was actually quite diverse, and many "Russian" soldiers in ww2 would have been Asian in ethnicity.

    • @krankarvolund7771
      @krankarvolund7771 4 года назад +9

      @Weston Meyer " There were a lot more white people in those areas than you think."
      Err.... You mean that in a theater where the main fighters were Japan, China and the USA, there were a lot of white people? Because, apart the part black US soldiers, I do not see ^^
      "And the 22 million Russians killed alone dwarfs the entire war’s causalities from the rest of the world, much less the non-European battle fronts. "
      Well, it does not dwarfs the 10 to 20 millions dead chineses ^^

    • @krankarvolund7771
      @krankarvolund7771 4 года назад +7

      @Weston Meyer "There were a crapload of white military guys in Asia."
      Well, a crapload but a lot less than asian soldiers as they are, you know, in Asia XD
      In 1945, Japan have 7 millions soldiers. China had engaged around 5 millions soldiers during the war. The US army had 11 millions soldiers, but most of them are in Europe in the "Germany First" plan.
      As for the 90% white (I checked the statistics, it's not 90%+, it"s 89.8% in 1940), yes it's totally true. But I said "partially black", not "entirely black" ^^
      Partially because a part of the US army was black. Yes it maybe was only 5 or 10%, as there was 11 million US soldiers, 5% mean more than 500 000 black soldiers, it's not nothing ^^

      Early in the war this was common practice amongst the German troops as well. Later in the war, the casualty rates amongst officers were so dire that the practice was formally banned.
      (Eventually, Germany widely adopted modern methods of camouflage to try to reduce the casualty rate. The Waffen SS were the first adopters as they had horrific combat losses, starting in Poland where they got severely hammered due to organisational and training shortcomings.)

      Yeah, it was the Second Sino-Japanese War that began in 1937 but it escalated into World War II when the U.S. finally supported China who has been fighting Japan through guerilla warfare all the way till 1945 when World War II ended (so World War II was pretty much China's war seeing as how they depended on the victory of the Allied Forces -- they were part of the Allies). Truthfully, no one is really saying World War II is not a White Man's war, so much as it isn't *only* their war. And the U.S. did have minorities serving in the U.S. Armed Forces during the war ranging from Japanese-Americans, Indian-Americans, African-Americans, and even Latinos (particulalrly Puerto Ricans and Mexicans), etc.

    Not to mention the French, who apparently saw it as a point of pride that they had colonial troops in their armed forces, hosting many parades featuring them.
    It was the US that was against integrated forces, and even forbade the French from allowing any colonial troops into 2nd Armoured Division, as the US didn't want any coloured folks in their propaganda photos/were just racist in general.

    There were some amazing feats by French black colonial troops called the Tirailleurs Sénégalais during WW1. Various observers of these troops mentioned their extraordinarily high morale for the conditions they were in.
    There was also the 369th Infantry Regiment of the US army during WW1 more commonly known as the Harlem Hellfighters. Young and old black men from the United States fought with the French army who would accept black troops because of their manpower shortages. Here's a quote on one of their accomplishments.
    On 25 September 1918 the Fourth French Army went on the offensive in conjunction with the American drive in the Meuse-Argonne. The 369th turned in a good account in heavy fighting, though they sustained severe losses. The unit captured the important village of Séchault. At one point the 369th advanced faster than French troops on their right and left flanks, and risked being cut off. By the time the regiment pulled back for reorganization, it had advanced 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) through severe German resistance.
    I'd say that's some pretty significant accomplishment for a "inferior" people as many beloved athletes the time. Men are men and women are women no matter their skin tone. Just because their different doesn't mean that they are less than others.
    I went into WW1 specifically because of my interest in it but i'm sure with some research anyone could find more cases of black armies being equal to or superior to others.

    I'm glad you pointed out how he said "if I look hard enough..." because that's honestly a large part of the fake outrage that anti-sjws sell. A lot of their material revolves around finding minor complaints and then overexaggerating them, blowing them out of proportion and getting outraged. Their fanbases eat this stuff up like candy because it's not really intellectual - it's just making fun of people. This happened with the new DOOM trailer, where over a dozen different channels harped on the exact same few minor complaints.
    They're not interested in truth. That much is evident by the fact that they always send their kids over to response videos - like this one - to click the dislike button and move on. Childish, and they say that SJWs are overly sensitive.

      I remember this happening way back with _Super Smash Bros. 4_ too (well, it's happening _all the fucking time,_ I've just since been tuning it out).
      An image from the game was posted showing the character Zero Suit Samus' new costume, which basically amounted to booty-shorts and a sports bra. The anti-SJW crowd went bonkers - thousands of comments complaining about "the inevitable backlash" from "SJWs", people saying why "it's totally ok, guys" and how they "aren't misogynists for liking it" and if they _are_ then by golly so be it, blog posts and articles preemptively written to _defend_ the costume, pointing out "no no, it's totally practical wear for a fighting game" and "it has precedence! See, it's from this old game! It's not misogynistic!"
      Literally no one ever actually complained about the outfit, outside of some saying the character's boots from the previous game had a better design.
      They manufacture straw-SJWs to attack to keep their outrage mill going, and they have to invent them because there isn't enough of an _actual_ opposition for them to fight. Then when the rhetoric is established, they started latching it to every bit of media they conceivably could - a director cast a woman? SJWs. A game has a female character? SJWs. Girls at gaming or comic conventions? _PURE SJW INVASION!_
      It's absurd.

      The irony of that one is that in SSB4 the character Shulk has a costume where he's literally just in shoes and a pair of trunks. (It's a reference to Xenoblade Chronicles where Dunban gets all sorts of buffs if he's fighting in just his trunks).

    To the Thread: SJW is a straw man identity invented by people who politically lean towards the center or the right to dismiss legitimate critiques of power. For those who use it as a derogatory term, can you actually identify an Ideology behind “SJW-ism” or what kind of people believe in it (something concrete please. not just insults or vague descriptions of behaviors)
    people who lean left politically aren’t perfect, and there certainly is an issue of activists with leftist ideology fetishizing oppression and struggle for social capital in leftist social circles (especially in the US).
    but damn, you all can at least try to address the points they’re making, instead of making up caricatures to avoid actually engaging critique.

You see, you want to fight the symptoms. “Men die more in the work place? We should fix that!” When the root cause is deep rooted misogyny. Because if women were in more dangerous jobs that wouldn’t happen. “But more men die from being homeless?” Ever considered that’s a result of men expected to be in the workforce while women stay at home. “But men get children less often in divorce cases!” Maybe because women are seen as caretakers and men as workers? Almost all sexism against men has its roots in misogyny.

      - The narrative that the left started anything is literally part of the propaganda. There's maybe a half-truth in it if you want to go into how political propaganda as a whole really kicked off in the 19th and 20th century, but if you want to talk about what has been happening in the last maybe 5 years it's mostly the alt-right and skeptospheres that do shit and they're pretty successfull if you look at stats.
      - Pretending even if it were true that doesn't justify anything the right does and it's not a good idea to start whataboutism if you want to retain any credibility.

    And in mainland Europe, battalions from the colonies were definitely stationed there. In fact, this practice was already in place WW1. A number of units indigenous of different parts of the world are integral parts of French history, from the trench warfare of WW1 to D-Day onwards, and are dutifully honoured with monuments to their bravery and all that you'd expect.

I think it was 2014, I visited the Carnavalet Museum and they had a Liberation of Paris photography exhibition going on at the time which was apparently an exhibition they'd done decades ago before (maybe it was even as far back as the 40's? The details are escaping me rn) and some sections of it were dedicated to the things they'd neglected during the first run of the exhibition. Part of that was the women and the people of colour who had participated in the liberation. Photographs and even some film reels of them had been included to fix the earlier exclusion. I found it really refreshing, getting to see pictures of heroism in the war that weren't all just of white men.

Gotta be careful too, when you assert that white male persons constitute the bulk of agency, you are implying that they simultaneously take on the bulk of responsibility and accountability. Because, to have agency means to have responsibility and accountability. This paints white male persons as culpable for the actions of others who share their ethnicity and sex category. And that is exactly what you DON'T want. Don't posit that it was mostly white male persons who made choices....because then you leave us open to be held accountable for those choices.
