Nice job with these videos! We are super proud of how this intake turned out. It was a challenge to produce something that found the balance of being super high quality, well-engineered, and reasonably priced for a full carbon kit. We hope you enjoy it and thanks for the helpful feedback!
Adam@COBB
Thank you for taking time and research to make it happen! Quality parts like this seem few and far between lately. It was a ton of fun making this video series. Can’t wait to add more Cobb goodies soon ✌🏻
I think it’s bullshit that this intake won’t work for the previous 2011-2014 Impreza sti. I have all the same mounting points and clearance
Is this carb certified for California because I want this if it is!
Yes it comes with a carb certified sticker
Finally did it. Redline CAI, Cobb AOS, Cobb 3 port BCS, Cyl 4 & capped off with a protune. Loving it so far and peace of mind achieved. 👊🏾
This a definitely a great content making channel love the videos you bring and we appreciate the hard work 😎
Thanks for the install video. Thanks to you I am aware of this new product :)
Dope man! I’ve been following your builds on NASIOC for years. This STi doesn’t disappoint! Great video
I appreciate the support brother! So cool to see some people still following my journey. Cheers 🍻
Looks soooooo good, Love it!!!
Nice video sir and it looks awesome ✌️
looks great!😎
Installed mine the other day. 2018 sti, I had a 13 prior. I used password jdm carbon pieces in the engine bay of the 13, radiator shroud-alternator cover-battery box-and fusebox cover. All but the radiator shroud transfered into the 18 sti engine bay. It took some serious consideration. But I made the password jdm radiator shroud fit. It took modification obviously, but the passanger side is flat enough that the redline intake fit on top of it.
My only issue with my redline install was that I got it used and it didn't come with the 2 studs that the grommets fit over. I had to install rivnuts in those spots, I used password jdm engine bay bolts to secure it in place. All I need now is the password jdm power steering cover to really complete the carbon look I'm going for. Such an awesome intake.
Just installed my redline intake today, followed you video to a T. Great install video! Also, kept the side cover plate on that lets in addition air. Now the car has little to no air induction sound, just a faint waste gate sound after shifting. Just some info for anyone wondering what it would sound like. Coming from the cobb big sf intake, the redline is very very quite.
Wow, this looks well engineered from Cobb. I'm not too familiar with their big sf intake design so perhaps it's the same, minus the carbon. Thx for the great install vid! 🤟
Great job 👍🏻
I wish they made this for the GD chassis
you got it ! this piece is so nice!
il be doing the drl install this weekend hopefully if i get stuck youl be available for advice i'm just worried as my wrx is a australian model with drivers side opposite etc hoping the wiring is still the same just switched also i have the premium model with side view camera
I jumped on it within the first 5 minutes of then releasing it haha. Couldn’t help myself.
Let me know if you come across any issues and I’ll try to offer my help.
Nice work
nice job bro
Bout to order mine. I'll be making a sound clip video
Thanks for the video I enjoy watching your videos. Did you have to get the car retuned? I have an SF model looking to give the engine bay some character lol
I would recommend having your turner look at some logs, but if you already are running the Cobb sf and have a tune, there isn’t many changes (if at all) needed swapping to the redline.
Nice job mate. Quick question, could you not put the larger round foam onto the plate rather than sticking it onto the carbon? If you’re worried about sticking it to the carbon. Just an observation 😊
Myself I’m a hatchback person so I’m looking for a 2012 or 2014 STI Hatchback but I do have to say I do like your STI sedan.
I just installed this and had the most difficult time woth the silicone hose lmfao! I dont know why but the box seemed low and just trying to get it over the tubing as so damn difficult and it kind of sits on the metal bracket underneath.
Does this carbon fiber weave match up well with your other carbon fiber parts? Anything stick out now? ...would be awesome to see Cobb do a video on how they made it.
yes! I forgot to mention the other carbon bits I have in the engine bay follow the same weave. It all flows very nicely!
Thank you for the video. A question, what brand are the carbon shrouds in the engine bay left and right side
Olm by subispeed
@@Scoobyfreak86 Thank you 😘. I am currently running the compressive tunning side shrouds. Carbon ones however will look dope with the new cobb redline intake
Few questions:
How much lower have you seen your IATs drop? Do you see any potential issues with the MAF housing sitting outside of the carbon box? Thanks for your video!
I explained how much the temps dropped in this video. ruclips.net/video/7nY5JHOtqV8/видео.html
No issues. The original Cobb sf intake as well as any other intake all sit outside the box. No issues at all.
how often do you clean and fully change the filter on the redline in miles or kilometers?
thanks for always answering
I replied to this question in the other video.
Can you put the ets Fmic piping with this ? I wanna buy it but don’t wanna see that piping doesn’t fit and I would have to cut just like the other Cobb box!!!!
Ets does not fit. The cobb piping does though.
Did you ever ceramic coat this like your revel fuse book cover?
Yes all the carbon in the engine bay was coated.
I stall mine also same like that but after 3days it’s pup up check engine please can you help what to do tnx and I appreciate it
Did you install the stage 1+ tune?
Could you just loosen the bolt and not remove it fully to install the hanger??
What fender shrouds are those?
Olm by subispeed
Hey no clue if your see this just started following your channel… they way you set up your sti is so clean and I deff trust asking you… basic simple question… I’m picking up my 2021 wrx next week .. my first mod is going to be stage 1 plus looking to do the redline Cobb intake, access port, and sti performance car back.. what tuning did you use… I’m seeing mixed reviews on RUclips some just use the Cobb access stock tune and others say you have to go get a pro tune/etune thanks in advance if you get this..
Also the sti performance exhaust… I’m basically a 39yr old dad with 1 kid and another comping so I wanted a lil sound but on the quieter side any recommendation I watched your exhaust video but it seems
Like you had extra mods at the time to compare noises of what I would have… ps if these questions are stupid sorry I just am getting into the subi game now… needed some excitement and a fun sedan to buy also live in CT so needed a 4 wheel drive this will be my first subi
Congrats on the new car! You’ll enjoy it being a dad yet still have something fun to drive.
The Cobb ots tune is more than adequate for what you are installing and using the car for. If you want to bump it up a bit, you can go with an e tune or dyno tune to dial things in a bit more. Check out brenn tuning if you want a solid e tune.
The STI exhaust is pretty droney. I would skip that and go with the Cobb stainless exhaust. Great tone and no drone. Quality and fitment is spot on too.
No questions are stupid! I get it. We all have to start somewhere. Enjoy!
@@Scoobyfreak86 Great info thank you for the quick responds!!!! Cobb Stainless it is then…Just giving you a heads up your properly start hearing from me in the future for more advice…👍👍
Hey man so just picked up my 21’ wrx yesterday.. been doing research on exhaust took your advice and did a lot of research on the Cobb SS catback and ran into videos of the invidia t300 people calling it the gentleman exhaust as in not load but only when you get on it with no drone with my situation family car and daily is the Cobb the same thing? have you had or heard in person that exhaust? Any insight on the invidia?
@@Scoobyfreak86 what’s going on sry for the bother looking for one more advice I seen you ran the AWE touring as well I’m really confused between Cobb ss, invidia Q300 and the AWE touring.. any insight on these would be great thank you… looking for no drone low throaty sound when I get on it I like the low tones do you know what one is the quietest? Thank you in advance and sorry for the questions just seen you went throw a lot of exhaust and so you have good feed back… 👍
@@johnho6896try to awe touring. I went with the Borla S Type and love it. Nice tone & minimal to zero drone at 75+ for highway driving. If I ever switch exhausts it will be the AWE touring. Happy building!
If you don’t mind, where did you get that STI TMIC shroud?
Intertek fabrications
would the perrin pulley cover fit if i installed that intake? Thanks in advance!
Yes. Would fit no problem.
Will that fit my 14 fxt that also has the fa20 engine like the 15’ and up wrx?
This specific intake is for the ej. Cobb did just come with the new fa20 redline intake though.
Can i still use the stock ecu map or require tune map once i have install this?
As explained in the video, you need a tune to run this or any intake.
Hey man, question for the fitment on the entire intake. I bought this intake and i am waiting to install it. When you place the posts into the rubber grommets, does it seem secure? When i was putting it together i noticed the rubber grommets just fit over the posts and dont really seem to pop into place. i guess i was just worried that it would move around.
I thought the same thing, but when it’s in place and bolted in, it doesn’t move an inch. It’s very secure.
@@Scoobyfreak86Ok. Appreciate it.
What's your engine mod list??
Thanks in advance 🙏🏻
BrenTuning Stage 1+ (though the Cobb Accessport), Cobb Redline SF Intake, Turbosmart Kompact BPV, Delta motorworks non res catback. Very simple!
Just received mine today. I know it comes clear coated but did you ceramic coat you’re. I don’t think you said if you did on you’re unboxing video. Should I ceramic coat mine?
I did not coat it in this video, but I did later down the line. Not a necessity, but it will definitely help keep it looking mint.
@@Scoobyfreak86 cool thanks man I’m going to coat mine before the install. Don’t want no dust getting embedded on the clear coat.
Are you on the stage 1 Cobb accessport tune ?
How’s the turbosmart BVP?
No, I was running Brentuning's stage 1+ etune. The turbosmart has been great, however, I just changed over to the cobb lf BPV ruclips.net/video/RUUrCXquVcs/видео.html
Do you need to do a tune after installing cobb intake?
Yes
Same process on the base wrx?
This is for an ej25 only. If you have a 2015+ wrx, it’s a different motor.
Have you had any issues with the screws coming loose and falling out on the alternator cover? Mine keeps coming loose, and yes they’re tightened down lol
It happened once when I first installed it, but some blue loctite solved the problem.
So I just ordered this and just completely dismissed the fact that I have a cobb front mount kit. Please tell me this will fit the cobb FMIC kit
Yes it fits
Great and detailed install video as always! :) Aside from the aesthetic, I absolutely love the completely gapless design of the snorkel directly integrating the filter! Pretty much maxes out the most potential of not drawing in hot engine bay air as much as possible (in the Cobb Big SF current design there are still quite a few air gaps on the fender side that definitely leave room for improvement). On top of that the new piping also ensure you have no way to screw up putting the filter on lined up exactly to the point it needs to be due to the piping edges not allowing it go past (although I suspect this is more of an STI specific design as I see the original had that too). Honestly if they make this for the FA20 and also make that filter stopper edge on that one, it's going to be very hard for me not to switch to this design at some point haha! The carbon fiber is right up my alley as well! Improvements all around and a very unique design, very impressed. 🙂
On the note regarding your Perrin Radiator shroud that is definitely a shame because I feel those shrouds help immensely with blocking off a lot of engine bay heat from being sucked (and considering I have that same one that is something I am going to have to keep an eye out for if they do ever make the same for the FA20). One idea I could offer, I recently stumbled upon this awesome carbon fiber parts company that makes a lot of CF parts for our VA chassis cars. I found they do make a radiator shroud of their own that seems to be based on Perrin's design but a little different as the left side extends over top the snorkel (as opposed to just at the edge with the rubber piece). It might be possible you could adjust it in a way to fit that new snorkel, like not attaching the left side with the bolts to the other and instead just getting double-sided mounting tape or foam (or may can even reach out to them to see if possibly they could make a custom piece for you). One really awesome thing about them is they let you choose what type of weave you want for practically all their parts which I've never seen any other company do. :)
Here are the links for two designs they have
1. www.rpgcarbon.com/product-page/va-carbon-fiber-radiator-cooling-plate-shround
2. www.rpgcarbon.com/product-page/rr-roadrage-carbon-air-snorkel-induction-duct-shroud-set-wrx
3. More CF parts here - www.rpgcarbon.com/subaru-impreza-vag-vaf-evoeye
Thanks for the input! I ended up using just the right side. Still directing the airflow to the snorkel.
The one thing about the piece from rpg is the snorkel shape is different than stock. So the mold might be designed to fit around the stock snorkel. The Cobb is different. I’m happy with just using the one side of the Perrin at least.
And yes. They are working on an fa redline intake 👌🏻
@@Scoobyfreak86 You are right the shape difference could prove tricky in that case. No worries I'm sure the difference in intake temps without the left side should not be affected as the newly improved and sealed snorkel should counteract any differences (overall I expect you might see lower temps in fact even without the one side of the shroud) Best of luck and definitely looking forward to seeing your impressions on it. :)
FA20 WRX Redline intake is in the works!
Not sure if you mentioned it but I would want to hear sound and real world driving review
Tomorrow’s video. I mention that in this video.
What map can I run on the accessport for the cobb redline intake or do I need a tune?
Stage 1+
Thanks Scooby so stage 1+ no tune needed?
What? You need to run the stage 1+ map
planning to buy this intake and my car is completely stock only have axle back on it. Is it safe to use cobb ots maps?
Yes you can use their ots with this intake.
Scoobyfreak86 thanks! love the videos!!
I am wondering how to take the filter off to clean? Do you have to take the entire unit off?
Yes the whole intake comes off in literally 30 seconds.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Bought one and installed over the weekend. Very impressive! However There is one bolt (M6x20mm Flange Head Black Oxide Bolt) remain unused. Not sure what that bolt is for? Any idea?
How did u make the shroud fit?
Which shroud?
no sound clip?
Different video ruclips.net/video/7nY5JHOtqV8/видео.html
Totally random but.... I'm in PA if you ever wana go on a cruise😃
Hey Bud... I swear I'm not copying your build LoL, I just picked up the Cobb Redline Stage 1+ package + my Cobb Ti CatBack that I messaged you about awhile back. I'm a Carbon fan myself and I like how all the Titanium ties it all together. My STi is the world rally blue color, so everything that is white on yours.. I'm wanting to make the Yellowish/Green like the original STi Brakes. My question is... The place where you sent in all your Bolts to get Titanium ones made... Do I need to send my Bolts in or did they make kind off of yours or save the Dimensions from yours?? Your Build is by far my favorite and is a very clean look! Like OEM.. . That's how I'd like mine, but with the Yellow/Green. Anyways bro... Keep up the hard work and I hope to see more Vids dude.
P.s.
Your Crazy if you sell her... or already did LoL
Thanks for the kind words. We got a whole package together of everything I have. www.titanium-works.com/collections/subaru/products/scoobyfreak-2015-wrx-sti-titanium-hardware-package
does it need to tune
Yes
It seems like this would fit the 08-14 as well? Can’t see why it wouldn’t anyways...
It does not fit the gr series. Only for the va.
@@Scoobyfreak86 damn that’s a shame. Great looking part. Thanks for the video.
Thoughts on Subispeed?
As a company? Not sure what you are asking here. I buy a lot of stuff from them.
Scoobyfreak86 Sorry. Yeah, I meant as a company. Like would you recommend purchasing from them? In fact, what are some of your favorite websites to purchase parts from for your subie?
no sound clips?
Next video. I said this in the video.
Fmic pipping clears?
The Cobb piping clears, yes.
Scoobyfreak86 so I’m guessing ets fmic won’t clear!? Just judging by pics and vids not a lot of space for fmic piping🤔
@Scoobyfreak86 hi how much hp it might add ?
Intakes don’t really add much power. It’s the tune that opens the car up. If anything, maybe 5-10hp with a proper tune.
@@Scoobyfreak86 ive got the redline intake and Invidia downpipe? what do you recommend? and did you have any problems with the redline?
Don’t add the Downpipe unless you have the supporting firing mods. No issues at all.
@@Scoobyfreak86 I've got an Cobb AP and invidia R400 exhaust to go with the downpipe with cobb stage 2 map, unfortunately no good prtunes where i live, so cobb maps is all i got. thats why I'm thinking of just sticking to stage 1+ Cobb ? till i'm bored than maybe stage 2 ! any recommendations on what to go for first . keep in mind i want the engine to stay safe . still didn't add catch can or aos debating. thanks for the help anyways been watching u for a while respect
Hit up brentuning. You can do an etune with your mods and you’ll get a much better and happier car.
Stick to stage 1+ for now. If you want more power, you’ll have to upgrade all of the fueling components, which will bring you to stage 3.
Do an IAG V3 street aos.
I appreciate the support!
Man they only make stuff for the 5th gens..they completely forgot about the 3rd and 4th generations
Hell yes I want it however, at this time I cannot justify the cost; that's too deep for my pockets. Maybe in the future! Why spend monies on looks for the engine, unless it's a show car????? I can justify outter parts, but who the hell looks at engines.
I do 👋🏻
