This is the type of news I’ve been waiting for! Thanks! I just got a Neptune 4 for Christmas and I’m new to 3D printing. I was wondering why elegoo didn’t update their slicing software for Neptune 4 series, but now they do!
New to 3d printing. I've been using orca but want to try Cura. I downloaded this but can't get the slicer to see my Nep 4 max with the ip address. Also wondering if Elegoo's nozzle parameters will work for this version. The support site mentions cura 4.8 only.
The OSX version has been pulled off of Elegoo's website. I will try the Windows version soon. I have the Neptune 3 Pro and I think the Neptune 4 is still ironing out the bugs. I like being able to use the generic nozzles on the N3. I am happy to see Elegoo is at least upgrading its skinned version of Cura. Great video!
Thanks for the complement. I'll add a note to my description about the Mac version. That's peculiar but I'm sure it's because you can't run the installer on the current version of the OS without running the terminal command.
@@davetriesthis The OSX download is back up and I got it to run to my M2 Mac mini pro. I had to use the xattr command in terminal and now it just loads normally. Still dialing in various parameters. I had a long time with 4.8 so this may take some time.
The public version of Cura doesn't have the profiles. You need the version from their site. Go to elegoo's site and go to software and find the slicer software. It ONLY has Neptune profiles.
Orca Slicer 1.9 is awesome. No need for Cura, Orca is printing faster than Cura and more reliable. One of my print just stopped for no reason two times at same spot. I wasted so much time and filament. Sliced it with Orca's inbuilt profile and it printed just fine. Orca is also very easy to work with. There are so many options and changing the views is a breeze. I have Orca for the first time in my life and am pretty impressed. Today I compared print speed and Orca is taking 40mins less for same print compared to Elegoo Cura 5.6 .
I have to do stopwatch timers but Orca slicer says the print times will take about 30% longer than any slice in Cura for the nep 4. Most likely cura is underestimating but I need to do a test where I set a timer against the claimed print times.
When I uploaded the new version, no where does it have a profile for ANY of the Neptune 4 printers??? I have a Neptune 4 Plus. The previous version, 5.5 or 5.0 whatever it was had options for Neptune 4 printers.... What am I missing here?
You can forget this and go grab the new elegoo cura from elegoo's site. They've updated it to 5.6.0, same as the current public version of cura. It's got all the profiles baked in.
@Beakerzor Nod..worth being sure if you're concerned about it. The app tested fine and is working great on my machine...only issue I had was the initial one with the link..not the download itself. A Chrome/ Google issue probably.
Tried your link for mac m1 and it dosent work. After download and try to install i get the warning that the file is broken and tells me to send it to the trash. Downloaded 5 times with same warning.
See the notes I added in the description. They didn't "sign" the installer so the Mac doesn't know what it is. There's a terminal command you can enter to make it work.
@@davetriesthis thanks for the reply! If there’s a way to make a guide for the accessory nozzle kit that elegoo makes, how to implement that in 5.6 that would be great. If you load up 5.6 and click on the bar where you can change the nozzle size you’ll see that they have four nozzles listed in there now but when you click on different sizes it doesn’t look like there’s any profiles built for it. Don’t know if this is something that needs to be created on a per machine basis where you have to test the flow rate, etc.. or if there’s a way to do it just based on the nozzle size. It’s something that doesn’t look like it’s well documented.
When i try to print a larger size file, like a shovel handle, which is very easy for the N3Plus, with this new N4Plus, it is becoming a real problem. The infill is all messed up with lots of plastic going all over the place. Tried Cura 5.6.0 from ELEGOO, tried ORCA, both on Fine as well as Normal print, and the result is the same. The bed is relatively leveled according to FLUIDD image, the prints stick well on the bed. I am in a dead end, would appreciate some help here.
It is official. Elegoo removed it because the installer didn't work on Mac unless you used the Terminal to correct their installer mistake. But this was from Elegoo support on the official Elegoo Reddit subreddit.
Hi Thanks for this video, I was hoping to ask you for some advice, Ive got a N4 and spend 30%+ of the time trying to learn how to make prints not fail/print better and its infuriating. Do you think its worth persevering or just buying a bambu P1S? If keeping the N$ is the recommendation, do you have any resources for getting the N4 to print as good as a Bambu or if buying a P1S, is the P!S worth it over the A1? Thanks for taking the time to make these videos
The bambu is designed more for plug and play than the Neptune 4, which needs a bit of experience and tinkering. They're different schools of thought on printers.
Hi thanks for the info. I installed it without any problems but I found that the profile build plate sizes are wrong for the Neptune 4 and 4 pro (235x235x265)why is this? The right size is 225x225x265!!! Any ideas?
The build plate is technically 235x235x265. They just market it as 225 x225 so u have a 10mm safe area. Just like the Creality CR10 marketed as 300x300x400, yet a creality CR10 bed fits a sunlu S8 perfectly, and the sunlu is marketed as 310x310x400. And i measured the creality bed and it is 310x310.
Did you download this or the public 5.6? This is still not the "vanilla" cura. It's still elegoo's build that has the Neptune profiles. You won't get those profiles without downloading this Elegoo version.
Cura isn't installed at the factory. It's a piece of software. It's on the thumb drive that ships with the printers because they shipped before this was released this week.
@@davetriesthis by email or course. That version is still in testing stages, I tried it and it sucks , all settings are wrong, wasted filament and time... Not worth the headache... Thanks for the info, but before posting this at least test it first, that's why elegoo still has the 4.8 version, which slices ok, interface still bad, but at least prints are good.

Mac [M3] user here; the Terminal command resolved the app non-start issue. Thanks!
No worries!
Terminal command was the key to get it to work on my wife's mac. Thanks a ton!
Got that from a redditor. I'm glad it helped you too!
thank you! got it set up in minutes thanks to your video.
Great to hear! Happy printing!
I was so happy but after trying it, it didnt work for me. The printer stays at 140 degrees heating up and then it does nothing.

This helped me get the latest version of Cora for my Mac w/ the M1 chip, but now I cannot find my Neptune 4 pro under the printers. RIP

Tried the link to the windows version...and its being blocked by my antivirus...
Blocked on my PC via Chrome...apparently google blacklisted the link for some reason...its downloading fine via my tablet tho
Working fine..no issue with a couple of AV scans...just the initial link got blocked..all good..and many thanks for the news and link 🙂
I'm going to wait until it passes anti-virus checks, personally. The latest Orca 1.9 is the same way. I can wait a week or two.
@Beakerzor Nod..worth being sure if you're concerned about it.

It probably never will. Windows thinks it's a virus simply because it doesn't recognize the server it's coming from.

Dave, do you have a video/ guide on using the new cura 5.6, specifically using larger diameter nozzles?
I don't but can make one. What specifically would you like to see?

Do you want to post the stl somewhere and send me a link and I'll try it
What is the source on this? I'm not finding a link to it on Elegoo's official site.

i have cura 5.6.0 but when i go to add printers there is no neptune 4 plus option??
You need to get elegoo's version of cura. It's available on elegoo's website. The public version of cura doesn't have the profiles.
awesome, thanks for this video. I am too scared to install it, my anti-virus software said it is a virus.
It's not. Windows just doesn't know the source of it since it's a file on an unknown server. You're fine.
thank you brother!
I've downloaded version Cura 5.6 and I dont see new neptune 4 printers available

Cura is only showing Neptune 3 for me

do you have a neptune 4 profile that's tuned that you'd share?
hi new to 3d printing where and how do i upload it to Cura
thanks you so much
You are most welcome
if this is true then why doesnt the cura install from the factory have it?

Still being blocked, I suspect They're still working on it.
The Elegoo website now says that the new 5.6 version is available, but I still get the "Infected with Blacklist" error/warning.
PrusaSlicer Profiles ? Please
For Plus/Max
still can't detect my 4max
:/
Elegoo has updated cura to the same as the current non Elegoo version. You can grab it on their website.
Anything for Linux? Running Lunix Mint.
Not that I've seen. :(
Too bad they don't provide a Linux version. WTF are they THINKING?
There isn't a Linux version of 5.6 out.
It's not working properly, even Elegoo told me that, that version is not stable or usable, infact I screwed up prints.. DON'T DOWNLOAD IT
Where did they tell you this
