    2:06 I do want to point out that on page 95 of the rulebook, under “Arc of Fire”, it does specifically say that “if a gun is platform-mounted, based on a rotating platform, or turnable, when ordered to fire it can be pivoted in place for free before firing, giving it effectively a 360° arc of fire”

    Fixed does not mean you need a tow to move. If they receive a RUN order they can then move 12" (P67).

      I was confused from that too. Otherwise, even a medium mortar would need a tow.

    you mention the fixed rule and needing a tow, my understanding is a tow is only needed for artillery listed as heavy & super heavy (page 95 under run orders)

      Good point. I got so wrapped up in the rotating thing I forgot that.

    My Australian desert dwellers love roaming around in there Chev truck with Italian 20 mm Breda blasting away at things. They’ve just got to be careful how close they get to smallarms fire.

    Love these videos.
    I think it doesnt matter what you use re PEN for light autocannons when fired at vehicles. Either the HE PEN +1 for the template does not get modified or the PEN +2 for direct shot does get modified down to PEN +1 since it isnt kinetic. The RB says templates have to be placed on the center of the vehicle, so you may have one 1” template in the center, then the second one touching it in a figure 8, if it hits, possibly allowing you to clip other models.

    (Rephrased) only pintle, turntable or rotating platform mounted gun can shoot all around.

      Also, the -1 pen, for long range, doesn't apply to HE as you mentioned.
      Is established in the HE explanation/armored vehicle part of the book (could not find it now)

    • @HollywoodWargaming
      @HollywoodWargaming  2 года назад

      @@17blaziken the discrepancy is with the Weapon Profile having a Pen Value of +2 while also being 1” HE, which has a pen value of +1. From my reading of the rules, HE does not fall off at long range but the weapon’s Penn does not equal the Penn value of the HE profile it uses.

    • @17blaziken
      @17blaziken 2 года назад +7

      @@HollywoodWargaming they are 2 different weapon.
      If you declare AP shoot, you use the pen on the profile + modifiers.
      If you declare HE, you use the template, so template pen apply + modifiers (other than long range)

    Still would love for someone to make the M-15 and 19 SPAAG vehicles as 1/56th scale models. Nothing says a lot of dead infantry like a 37mm cannon with twin M-2 .50 cals for the M-15 and twin 40mm Bofors for the 19.

    Thanks for the overview; I'd been wondering about static autocannon and figured heavy would be an always better choice on account of the range likely letting you start plinking away across the board from the start. While LAC armored cars seem like a good choice (yay AB-42!), do you think soft-skins with them are still viable? Italy (and others) get AA trucks, but I suspect it's a false choice on account of still being vulnerable to the ample amounts of small arms and machine guns around in spite of its mobility.

    • @HollywoodWargaming
      @HollywoodWargaming  2 года назад +1

      I’ve run soft skinned LAC vehicles before with decent success, but you really need to keep them at maximum range to avoid small arms fire. One double LMG vet squad can take them out pretty easy. I would always upgrade when able.

    If you are firing multiple shots at a vehicle and they both hit (or more than 2 in the case of the Wirbelwind), do you only get to take advantage of one hit? Meaning, you have a better chance to hit but it doesn't make it easier to damage?

    The way I seen shooting Auto cannons is when you fire, you declare if you are using HE or armor piercing shells. If firing at infantry with armor piercing shells you hit one target with each shell at +2 pen. If you fire fire He you use the templet at +1 pen.
    If you are firing at a one man team the armor piercing shells would have an advantage.
    I feel like this might not be the correct way of playing it.

      I really enjoy this series. Thank you for creating it. Hopefully the following rules will demonstrate that "platform-mounted" weapons DO NOT suffer a -1 To Hit penalty when rotating.
      TL; DR: Platform-mounted weapons pivot and shoot with a Fire order not an Advance order. There is a -1 To Hit modifier for firing on an Advance order not on a Fire order.
      From the hardback 2E. rulebook:
      (p.95) "If a gun is 'platform- mounted', or based on a 'rotating platform' or 'turntable', such as in the case of some AA guns, then when ordered to Fire it can be pivoted in place for free before firing, giving it effectively a 360° arc of fire."
      (p.54) "Fire on the move: if the firing unit is making an Advance action the unit is spending some time moving and its fire will be less accurate. Hence the unit suffers this penalty to its roll to hit."
      Thanks again and keep up the good work!
