NAIL THE MIX is an online mixing school created by Joey Sturgis, Joel Wanasek and Eyal Levi - the guys who produced bands like TDWP, Chelsea Grin, Blessthefall, Machine Head, Monuments, Miss May I, Of Mice & Men, Reflections, Born Of Osiris, Asking Alexandria and dozens more of this generation's best metal bands.
Every month, NAIL THE MIX members get exclusive access to the REAL MULTI-TRACK SESSIONS from a REAL ALBUM, and a 6-8 hour live streaming class from the producer who mixed it. These aren't bogus covers played by some nobody off of RUclips, these are the actual sessions by bands like Gojira, Meshuggah, Periphery, Papa Roach, Machine Head, A Day To Remember and August Burns Red - and NTM is the only place in the world you'll get access to them!
Doomed is one of the most underrated songs by the band it’s crazy
crucify me is very underrated too
Home Sweet Hole is the most underrated
home sweet hole really is their most underrated.
Doomed is the best song from That's The Spirit without a doubt. I think Drown and Oh No are close seconds, with the rest being decent-good alternative/pop rock.
-Medusa- pretty much everything off of there is a hell goes under the radar to many people, which sucks because it’s arguably their best album
The arrangement of this track is just insane, Jordan Fish is such a great producer
And great vocalist
Jordan and Oli both produced the whole album
@@MJ-vd8bj jordan produced it, oli just followed his instructions
@@sleepyreapy1222 actually it's the other way around according to jordan. Oli tells Jordan what to do and what kind of sounds to use and Jordan does it, check out his interview on the Downbeat podcast they get into it a bit.
@@theknobking2258 u r wrong, they both cowork on every track, and oli can't do anything he wants in the song if not everyone is okay with that, like the elephant sound in tear drops, the band didn't like the idea and oli had to spend alot of time to convince the band.
The production on that's the spirit really is insane. Thanks for this.
totally, the backing vocals and harmonies especially are mindblowing!
H
Production yeah, final mix is too loud and compressed though
Jordan does more singing than i thought
I knew Jordan did a lot on this record, but yeah I didn't think he would've done so many backing tracks himself.
Sykes gets kust too much credit. His main purpose is being the band's face, not much else tbh
^ after being the sole responsibility for the marketting of the band in the begginning and largely the reason for their success, this is a really idiotic comment
@@Tiggzyy Maybe you're right, I don't know tbh. But recent performances of Mantra aren't really great vocally. Fish is carrying most of the vocals and Sykes voice just sounds pretty dead
Apparently Sykes' screaming technique is what has messed up his vocal ability... Not a great thing for a band who are supposedly going in a more pop direction.
The amount of work that goes into every song is insane. Since sempiternal (or since Jordan I should say) they've been going nuts with it.
H
Wow. I wrote this band off as untalented, but holy shit was I ever wrong.
Just the synth alone is stunningly beautiful and everything is so well produced.
A lot of us did! You don’t have to like them, but they are definitely the real deal.
People do that to so many bands because the work put into the music isn't seen at face value, if a band has even self produced a song decently it's safe to say they're talented even if you don't enjoy the music, took me a while to learn that there's so much more to music than just the writing and final product.
10:04 holy cow, I could listen to a loop of those chops all friggin day. Beautifully luscious
10:22 that synth is fucking insane
I always come back here often to just get inspired by the amazing raw sounds of all the instruments and just baller compositions. This is truly a testament to Jordan Fish's genius. We'll miss him in BMTH!
What a treat hearing you unbox one of my favorite BMTH songs. Such a masterpiece production wise.
It amazes me how well Jordan is able to mimic Oli to make his performance sound cleaner and fuller! Cheers to him!
TheMusicMOA Jordan is Oli and Oli was never actually the Oli you thought he was
Enemy Hero Well before Jordan was in the band Oli made his sound known. He has a very emotional voice (I know he can’t sing worth a shit). And they did a great job of disguising Jordan’s vocals within Oli’s to make it thicker and bigger!
Holy shit!! The orchestra and vocal effects sound AMAZING! 9:35
This solidifies it... Jordan is an absolute musical genius. It's like watching a more complex Bob Ross walk-through, where he goes step by step and you don't really get it, even though each stage DOES look good... And then all of a sudden it falls into place and makes you want to cry.
8:18
This is f** crazy, Jordan Fish is a great musician and producer, the genious of bmth.
These videos really give a new appreciation of the music, just seeing the immense amount of work put into the song.
11:56 I see what you did there..
Ambient and overdub guitar tones are awesome
Super fun to mix! Happy the drum samples were also provided!
BMTH keep innovating further with every single release they put out and I really truly do live for it. Cheers for this phenomenal deep dive!
Such a fun video to watch and try to wrap my head around everything. Thanks a bunch! Really cool!
I don't have any clue about what he's talking about but I know that I could watch and listen this stuff all day. One of my favourite songs
5:24 that’s like the best sounding clean guitar I’ve ever heard, any thoughts on what all was used on that?
Ryan Sanders I wish I knew. Bring me the horizon has the best clean tones I've ever heard.
Pretty sure it is a strat through a vox ac30 clean with a strymon reverb the amp may vary.
I think so. Brian Haner jr (Synyster gates from A7x) uses it as well and the tones are insane.
Wow, this sounds amazing!
Damn, this song is some advanced arranging. I'm impressed
the electronic and orchestral parts on their own literally made me tear up??? this song is so beautiful wth
These vocal chops are are magical 😰
I made my mix in the week end, it was very interesting to work with those tracks, so many different possibilities and colors.
Still don't know where I am supposed to post the mix, though...
EDIT: Just got the mail with instructions. :)
ChristianIce alright mate would u be a legend and send me the session via email? Been waiting for this since it was released back in 2015 and i dont have any money to pay for a subscription. :(
Do you realize that you are asking me to violate the agreement I have with URM on theirr own actual freaking RUclips page?
It's 20 bucks, man, you can spare'em.
Great stuff!
ChristianIce guai a te se glielo spedisci col mastering sballato, guai a te
Yeah bro that was fucking dumb to ask on here lmao
"The production team" is also the band because that album was self produced
Additional personnel
Al Groves - engineering
Dan Lancaster - mixing
Ted Jensen - mastering
Nikos Goudinakis - assisting engineering
Sam Winfield - additional engineering
Will Harvey of Parallax Orchestra - violins on tracks 1-5, 7, 10, 11
Maddie Cutter of Parallax Orchestra - cellos on tracks 1-5, 7, 10, 11
Emma Fish - additional vocals on track 2
Mike Bissett - horns on track 7
I even had Dan Lancaster come to my university to give a talk, it wasn't just self produced.
Notice how none of those titles have "producer" in them. Learn what a producer is before commenting. Straight from Wikipedia: "A record producer or track producer or music producer oversees and manages the sound recording and production of a band or performer's music, which may range from recording one song to recording a lengthy concept album.[1] A producer has many, varying roles during the recording process.[2] They may gather musical ideas for the project, collaborate with the artists to select cover tunes or original songs by the artist/group, work with artists and help them to improve their songs, lyrics or arrangements."..... By this definition this was a self produced album as all the arrangements were managed by the band.
@@10thstudio Ik this is old but both of you guys have a point. It wasn't solely produced by the band because the above mentioned people played parts in the process, but the band themselves did a big bulk if not the major majority of it.
@@camdenwyeth316 engineers are there when tracks are being recorded they usually sit behind the session and press record levels etc. they didnt do all this stuff alone. dan mixed it after everything had already been arranged so yes it is selfproduced but there is always a team behind a massive record. no top band is gonna do everything by themselves
@@3101max Yeah of course, I'm just saying technically I guess both of them are right in some capacity?
This is beautiful
Sounds sooooo good!
This song's a masterpiece in production. Are these multi tracks and live mix session only available for the month or can they be downloaded and watched in the future as well?
BaSs4cE11 if you subscribe this month or next. You get the previous months stems with the current month as well when you sign up.
BaSs4cE11 Once you sub to the site, it’s 20$ for the one song a month. They give you the tracks and a few weeks to play with them and mix them yourself. Then at the end of the month the do a live lesson with the actual mixer of the recording.
Previous months lessons are not free though. And currently most seem to be 30$, though they are having a sale on the Machine Head session.
I guess I did really up front vocals mix for the wrong month :D But it just sounds so right to me.
Anyway, great song to work with. Thanks!
So basically Jordan sang the whole track
That beautiful sounding drum room man o man...
Jordan is a God
Wow this is frickin cool, the sound of each track is really great! Btw where do you get this multi track from? I would love if i can make the synth and other backing sound as a sequencer when covering this song with my band
I love these videos holy crap
damn i can only iimagine how the recording sessions went, Jordan Fish is a fucking goat
Is there a way just to listen to the synth by itself on this song? It’s so good
This made me love the song even more, it's fucking amazing
Could you do an instrumental of this?
Jordan is amazing.
I want this mix just to hear the main and backing vocals uhg
At 2:52 i thought eyal was about to roast us, but then he just plugged NTM 😂
Never realised how many layers there were in this song and the rest of the songs from the album, god damn
Amazingworks
jordan and oli are such a killer duo
Everyone bitched about their sound changing on this album but i fuckin love it and this is one of my favorite songs of all time. Can't wait to see what they do next
Nice! When is the last day to submit the mix? I'm really interested!
Does anyone know, or can take a stab, at what the plug-in and effect is used for the vocal chop track(s)? 10:02
I'd pay money just to have the track with only synths
"hey guys, aye I love you here"
Me:
"Love you too man"
The drum is so good
How do I get just the electronics from Jordan? It's like the most beautiful white noise anyone ever could fall asleep too.
Oli shared this, i would too if i was him. Awesome video!
A heads up, Dan added his own samples to this session as well. This is the session that arrived to Dan (although has been downsampled) to 48khz from 96khz. (Understandable) These are the samples that Jordan added only. I suspect this will become clear on April 1st
How do you unbox a song? Do you just put it on protools?
The fact that this song uses drum samples is proof for how fucked our perception of music is. The real drum track sounds fucking massive.
Man how can I get this? I've been searching this
There were some snare samples not perfectly aligned with the real snare , so I had to move them in place by hand.
I want this so I can make the Doomed Intro
what is the program you use than i can see on your screen ?
bruh my Pc breaks up with over 50 channels, imagine with this project damn
How download this in mp.3?)
"Seriously, this is yours to mess up" xD
I love them so much ☔🖤🤘🏻
What is the software you’re using?
5:23
April will be a good month
Is there any way to get thes tracks right now?
Yep! Http://nailthemix.com/bmth - you’ll get instant access
Para mi la mejor cancion de BMTH, y muchisisisimo mas en en vivo con esas orquestas hermosas del Robert Hall. ❤
How do you get this material?
What software is that?
Pro Tools
As a producer. How do you know when you are adding too much? There ar a lot of tracks here and clearly each part has a specific purpose but how do you know when you are creating when to stop adding stuff?
I would love to see a different mix of this song that brings out the lighter elements.
I need a synth only version of that song
i wish you can do this song with only the synth bass and the vocal chops. please do
Thank you so much for posting this. It's one of my favorite songs of all time and I'm so happy to finally hear the many layers of this song. Jordan Fish and Oli Sykes of BMTH are an insane team for songwriting, production, and orchestration. If you're interested in hearing what this sounds like with a full orchestra click here: ruclips.net/video/OGc9W-_C9u0/видео.html
Could you please do a drumless track?
Unbox a Hands Like Houses song!
I SECOND THIS COMMENT!
this song is massive - the opportunity to learn a lot.
Tight bass guitar
where can i download it?
sign up to NTM , you'll get this session and years worth of other sessions to mix :)
But what of the meek, the mourning, and the merciful? (Wrong "Doomed" song, I know)
Fuck the doomed, you’re on your own. :P
Still a great song either way :)
SuperIdiotMan00 ~ what song is that, bb boi?
That clockwork orange reference
3:35
I fucking love this song!
5:22 my brain meltdown
That's tasty
Where do you get a file with all those tracks?
10:06
wao
holy shit
Could you guys unbox something of Crown the Empire or Paramore?
Daltinho Borges NTM keeps getting bigger. Getting BMTH is a huge accomplishment. I’m sure in the next year they will have #1’s out to us on the reg.
It DOES sound a little “Clockwork Orangey.”

Any chance of uploading an instrumental or acapella version of the song?
subscribe and make one yourself
I am not a rock producer/mixer. I just like BMTH music.
In My Opinion, The bass is not that great, I think it should have more Low end...
And Maybe louder than in the Mix
Jordan is the main vocalist on this album. Oli is just an ad face.
