    It's crazy how there's really truly not much here. As amazing as this album is, I expected there to be like 60 tracks per song. These guys are absolute masters at making things sound perfect out of the gate and doing more with less. This song has such an expansive sound (as does the whole album), but it's done so simply and succinctly.
    I say again, masters. Great video!!

      I thought exactly the same thing, specially in vocals and FX I thought there would be much more! impressive...

      Imagine unboxing raw tracks for a Devin Townsend song, his overview of Supercrush! was already reaching enormous number of tracks, and some newer albums could even exceed that number!

    Listening to all of these raw tracks, especially in the modern metalcore/ djent scene makes it even clearer that a great part of the work is made by clean, tight, flawlessly recorded tracks. Great lesson: there’s no way to build great stuff without solid foundations. It makes you appreciated even more all these talented musicians. Thanks for these great content!

    I want to take the opportunity to say periphery is literally the band that got me into audio. that was back in 2013 when my friend introduced me to P2 and I was blown away at the intricacies of the album. I was blown away by the vocals. It's now 2018 and i'm actually currently in school getting my cert for audio engineering. I can't thank these guys any more for just existing. They raise the bar so high for music.

    I like how the guitar lead and synth have incredibly similar tones. I think that's what keeps them largely glued together.

    • @ecofreak36
      @ecofreak36 6 лет назад +1

      There's a similar lead type of thing going on in Absolomb as well. They quad track each guitar and then also double the lead guitar melodies with a synth

      Having Nolly in the band was overpowered as hell. Having an engineer dial in stuff is basically cheating in the mixing game

      Well all of the guys have their individual strengths, Misha did say that he learned alot from watching Nolly. Mind you Misha was putting out really quality stuff back in his Pod XT days on soundclick - yet after all these years he learned alot and also improved alot.

    I've wanted this class for so long, as Nolly and Periphery have been the reason why I've gotten into engineering and mixing! Now that I bought it (and yes I spent the entire day watching all 8 hours straight) I'm so glad I did. Nolly is one of a kind when it comes to his application of scientific knowledge combined with a large sense of vibe and "casualness."

    God, that smashed room track is so tasty. I always feel like compressing the hell out of a drum room mic or distorting a vocal is like the audio equivalent of scratching an itch or crushing an empty can or something - just weirdly satisfying on a visceral level :D

    I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that your main instrument is drums. Not sure what would possibly give that away. I kid, of course.
    I think it's cool to see someone get so excited about drum sound, as I don't see it very often. I knew there were lots of layers in their stuff, but hearing it all by itself is too cool. Hopefully some day I'll get my hands on these multitracks

    watching how Misha approached guitar tracking, they are really tight even without note-by-note editing basis, though i still think they kinda did for more complex section (also Nolly talking about trying to sound as close to the MIDI track as possible, obviously with added flair).
