From an old time metalhead that watches your show, thanks for representing the metal. There is, actually, a whole lot you could talk about with metal tones. It's not just all Metal Zone sounds. There's tighter sounds, there's thick sounds, there's vintage sounds, there's gained-out sounds. Here's an idea for a show: 5150 style amp vs JCM 800 style amp. You could explore how each reacts differently to the different gain types (boost, drive, distortion, fuzz). You could explore how they sound with different distortion sources (amp vs pedal, or a blend of the two). And even though it's all probably been done before on dozens of other channels it would be nice to see it with That Pedal Show's enthusiasm for the exploration of tone.
I don't know the band Lee is from, Bring Me The Horizon, so I checked them out on Spotify. I was very surprised. The music did not sound at all like what I was expecting after listening to him in this video. The newest album is very electronica, and actually pretty chill. Some of the other albums have heavy stuff, but it's not by any means a strictly heavy sounding band. They changed quite a bit over the years. Very good episode, guys. Very enjoyable.
they've changed A LOT, not a single band has gone through a more drastic change than BMTH imo, they've gone from deathcore to electronic pop. all tracks on their demo album and the first two "official" albums (Count Your Blessings and Suicide Season) consist of extremely heavy (for the time) songs, bar a couple exceptions. really interesting band with a lot of fun tracks, even though most of their newer stuff isn't my cup of tea
Ten times more informative and interesting than these technical blues guitarists you some times feature. The guy from Radiohead, Blur and now this, music not just a guitarist. Ace, learned loads and a genuine insight.👌

I think that the fact that Lee has no idea why he likes what he likes is kind of awesome. He likes what he likes, and that’s good enough for him. I’ve been obsessed with his tone since BMTH’s There is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It album. It’s so meaty and punchy.
A few takeaways I have from watching this whole video. 1.) I love seeing Dan and Mick's enthusiasm when it comes to a style that they don't know. It's refreshing to see people with a passion to not just be the teacher, but to take learning just as seriously. Absolutely phenomenal interview! 2.) Every interview I've ever seen of Lee he is very awkward and reserved, and that's probably just a character thing, but despite this one starting that way by the end he really opened up and got excited about what he was talking about with you guys and that was great to see. Not just that, but a testament to how great you two are at what you do. All that being said, keep up the good work gents, and I'm hoping to seeing more "heavy" music end up on this channel in the future!

What a charming lad. Wasn't sure at first that I'd make it to the end. But I was completely won over. I learned things, and kept pausing to go down rabbit holes. Great episode!
My two takeaways from this video: 1) The Klon circuit is just amazing. It can do so many things in so many different situations and always sounds fantastic. 2) There is a reason I love my Friday mornings and TPS. Dan and Mick continue to impress with these deep dives into touring musicians gear. It doesn't matter what the genre is, tone is tone and they are going to get to the bottom of it with smiles on their faces. Shout out to Lee as well, seems like a great guy.
This is one of the best guitar rig videos on RUclips. Amazing how much thought he's put into his rig, when most metal guys would stick a tube-screamer in front of a 5150 and call it a day 👍 Gonna be trying my Klon clone for high gain now!

This is one of my favourite episodes, I love Lee's attitude towards his sound and hearing about his journey moving from small venues to huge spaces. Also I love the fact he still goes and plays covers down the working men's club like the rest of us!

OMG an hour of Lee content! Great video! (and it was uploaded on my birthday! Yay!) I love Lee. I like how you guys can keep the whole episode running without any awkward moment. Lee is usually quiet but in this video you made him open up more to share many interesting things. I'm new to electric guitar and I learned a lot from this episode alone. (Yes, I just learned that I hold pick the same way Lee did... and it's the wrong way to hold one. Oops. Also kudos for the timestamps. They help a lot) I might get his signature one day. Anyway I found it adorable when he said that people at the club thought he's 16 lol. Forever baby-face! Good to hear that apart from touring with his band he still does cover and plays at the club from time to time. I love TPS and Ive been watching since 2017 but most of the stuff you cover are for genres that I dont really play - although I dont play heavy music anymore it was awesome to see Lee on the show. I think it is so awesome that you guys did this video, I would've never expected you do someone like this. I'm primarily a metal player, with a lot of hard rock and some blues and classical thrown in there, and your videos have really helped me achieve some dramatic improvements in my tone and taught me how to get certain sounds that I just couldn't get without your videos. For what you guys do, there may not be that much of a market for you guys in the hard rock and metal community, but there are some out there that I'd love to see you guys do, John Petrucci being one of them, and yes he and others have covered his rig and pedal board, but you guys haven't, and you guys ask questions and bring up points that others do not. I don't think he'd ever do it, due to his reclusive nature, but Adam Jones would be another good one for you guys as well. Awesome video though, keep up the good work.
I was another one that wasn't sure if I was gonna enjoy this or not, but it was just as brilliant as any of your other shows with artists. Every one of these guys have so much to teach, just from developing their own style. Lee seems like a really cool and down to earth guy too. Keep it up guys, you really never cease to surprise and amaze me.
while other bands still chugging at the lowest tune on the 7/8 strings guitar to get heavier, he choose to ring the most badass and super heavy breakdown's riff i've ever heard since the new metal era.....what an amazing player and songwriter

Great interview. Surprised Lee didn’t talk about the spilt coil humbucker on his signature models (maybe I missed it). I have his RD, it’s a very versatile guitar and looks/plays amazing. Plus you don’t see many of them. The Klon with high higain is a perfect fit but actually prefer the thorpyfx Dane. Luv your show!!

Awesome episode guys. Been a massive fan of Bring Me the Horizon and Lee’s playing for years. His style of playing really helped me to find my place in my own bands.
Great to hear Lee talking about the working mens clubs, which is where me and my band(s) play every weekend. To anyone who's interested, the guy he mentioned who joined Wishbone Ash is Mark Abrahams who I think used to be in a band called 'The Hunter' who have been doing the club circuit for years and years. I got talking to Mark after a gig cos his tone was amazing he was using an Engl Fireball (I think) with a Friedman BE100 pedal in front for his gain sound. Great player. Anyway, I might bump into you Lee, we'll have a pint while the Bingo is on ;) lol.
I think 'Hearts and Flowers' are my favorite inlay of all time. I have a Gibson Mastertone Banjo I've had since since I was a kid (70's) and they all have it as well.
Never listened to "Bring me the Horizon" but this guy plays like a clockwork i like him. Loud tube amps and 4x12 cabs are the essence of Metal, you can go digital but it's probably not the same. And this strings topic is always an issue with lower metal tunings. Either you get a longer scale or you get fatter strings, i helped a friend fit a 104 bass string on his 8-string guitar and it could still be thicker.
Mick here. I should have mentioned Lee’s timing. He’s borderline metronomic with his timing - perhaps the result of the sheer scale of their live show and complexity of their music. Dude has to be on it!

@@ThatPedalShow i started to "inhale" the "play like a clockwork" attitude when i first had to record my own death Metal riffs, it sounded like washing machine and i had to train my timing a lot to elevate my playing from washing machine to clockwork sound =)
When i was around 15-17 i was massively in to bring me the horizon and still love their music, i didnt realise how much of lee’s take on things informed my own gutar sound for a long time, marshall slightly driven, les paul and soul food, that was me for a long time, recently i think i’m starting to yearn for a fender amp, and i’ve just put a deposit on a tele... guess who’s having a jeff buckley phase!!?

Had to comment regarding the clips. When I was playing jazz professionally on two Gibson175’s, I used to visit my local cobbler and request he make me a narrow leather strap with a press stud, which I placed around the strings behind the floating bridge. Worked a CHARM. funnily enough, I do not do this with my Gretsch’s. It’s all part of the charm where they’re concerned. Really great show guys, this isn’t my world and I learned a lot. Stuart Narduzz I use a Soul Food on heavy tunes (I’m just in a cover band) and It gives the mid focus I want.

Good to hear that apart from touring with his band he still does cover and plays at the club from time to time. I love TPS and Ive been watching since 2017 but most of the stuff you cover are for genres that I dont really play - although I dont play heavy music anymore it was awesome to see Lee on the show. Id love to see more artists bigger with younger audiences on the show - Arctic Monkeys would be a great one for me. Cheers from NZ!

I think it is so awesome that you guys did this video, I would've never expected you do someone like this. I'm primarily a metal player, with a lot of hard rock and some blues and classical thrown in there, and your videos have really helped me achieve some dramatic improvements in my tone and taught me how to get certain sounds that I just couldn't get without your videos. For what you guys do, there may not be that much of a market for you guys in the hard rock and metal community, but there are some out there that I'd love to see you guys do, John Petrucci being one of them, and yes he and others have covered his rig and pedal board, but you guys haven't, and you guys ask questions and bring up points that others do not. I don't think he'd ever do it, due to his reclusive nature, but Adam Jones would be another good one for you guys as well. Awesome video though, keep up the good work.

I was another one that wasn't sure if I was gonna enjoy this or not, but it was just as brilliant as any of your other shows with artists. Every one of these guys have so much to teach, just from developing their own style. Lee seems like a really cool and down to earth guy too. Keep it up guys, you really never cease to surprise and amaze me.
while other bands still chugging at the lowest tune on the 7/8 strings guitar to get heavier, he choose to ring the most badass and super heavy breakdown's riff i've ever heard since the new metal era.....what an amazing player and songwriter

Great interview. Surprised Lee didn’t talk about the spilt coil humbucker on his signature models (maybe I missed it). I have his RD, it’s a very versatile guitar and looks/plays amazing. Plus you don’t see many of them. The Klon with high higain is a perfect fit but actually prefer the thorpyfx Dane. Luv your show!!

Great to hear Lee talking about the working mens clubs, which is where me and my band(s) play every weekend. To anyone who's interested, the guy he mentioned who joined Wishbone Ash is Mark Abrahams who I think used to be in a band called 'The Hunter' who have been doing the club circuit for years and years. I got talking to Mark after a gig cos his tone was amazing he was using an Engl Fireball (I think) with a Friedman BE100 pedal in front for his gain sound. Great player. Anyway, I might bump into you Lee, we'll have a pint while the Bingo is on ;) lol.

I think 'Hearts and Flowers' are my favorite inlay of all time. I have a Gibson Mastertone Banjo I've had since since I was a kid (70's) and they all have it as well.
Never listened to "Bring me the Horizon" but this guy plays like a clockwork i like him.
Loud tube amps and 4x12 cabs are the essence of Metal, you can go digital but it's probably not the same.
And this strings topic is always an issue with lower metal tunings. Either you get a longer scale or you get fatter strings, i helped a friend fit a 104 bass string on his 8-string guitar and it could still be thicker.
Mick here. I should have mentioned Lee’s timing. He’s borderline metronomic with his timing - perhaps the result of the sheer scale of their live show and complexity of their music. Dude has to be on it!

@@ThatPedalShow i started to "inhale" the "play like a clockwork" attitude when i first had to record my own death Metal riffs, it sounded like washing machine and i had to train my timing a lot to elevate my playing from washing machine to clockwork sound =)

When i was around 15-17 i was massively in to bring me the horizon and still love their music, i didnt realise how much of lee’s take on things informed my own gutar sound for a long time, marshall slightly driven, les paul and soul food, that was me for a long time, recently i think i’m starting to yearn for a fender amp, and i’ve just put a deposit on a tele... guess who’s having a jeff buckley phase!!?

Had to comment regarding the clips. When I was playing jazz professionally on two Gibson175’s, I used to visit my local cobbler and request he make me a narrow leather strap with a press stud, which I placed around the strings behind the floating bridge. Worked a CHARM. funnily enough, I do not do this with my Gretsch’s. It’s all part of the charm where they’re concerned. Really great show guys, this isn’t my world and I learned a lot.
