“Life after Jordan Fish” the title makes it seem like Oli divorced him 😂
Kinda
he pretty much did xD. "all this time my wife's been limiting the time and care i usually would've given to my brother, my sister, fuck even my mom and dad. and i never realized that untill we got the divorce."
Almost, Oli said they became a really creative duo and the others one were kinda push backwards and you can see it when you check some BTS from survival horror.
@@satriabagaskara4198 And when Jordan finally quit Lee and the double Matts mustve said this to Oli “about damn time you see that m8” 😤🫵🏻
@@satriabagaskara4198 jordan would’ve said the same. And the fact that he’s the one with 2 kids
‘I wasn’t healed I was just distracted’ hits so hard, Im so glad oli can talk about these things, hes a real inspiration!
Which part?
@@ken-gq8qq at 11:20
makes such a huge sense
He says no to a documentary but I would definitely read a book on this gentleman's mind.
Holy fucking shit, now I can’t look at the album the same way anymore, everything was planned and structured out with such a beautiful narrative in mind, that and how it tackles the shared human experiences of struggle and recovery.
This album feels like a calling card for mental health in general, I love it.
I can't listen to "I don't know what to say" the same after learning the meaning. It already sounded like a sad song but I didn't know about his friend. Now I just cry thinking about the lyrics. He is a brilliant song writer ❤
@@gingerstallion That song hits different for me. My brother passed away in 2017, my family always heard with his health condition most people don't make it past 50 yo and he was 48. I already knew what the song was about and listened to it countless times and I never really connected to him. One random day sitting at a stop light "I saw the universe hidden in your heart, Wish I told you this before it got too dark, Where do you start when you know it has to end?" I lost it, I can't listen to it now without choking up but that makes me love the song even more. Oli is a lyrical genuis.
@@ericrainey7143 :'( I'm so sorry, I know that words cannot describe the loss of a sibling. :'(
This is the most personal and raw interview I’ve seen oli ever do. Absolutely loved every minute of it.
Creative genius, storyteller, deep thinker... I love how he is.
Oli is a great example of someone who analyzes people's behavior (and his own) and learns from it. I know it drags you down when you realize you've fallen back into some of your old problems / bad habits again but I hope he knows that it happens to all of us. He doesn't seem to be aware of what an incredible person he is. Thank you for letting him talk and not just getting material for clickbait / headlines.
I think that once you walked a path once, it’s easy to go there again, so we shouldn’t be too hard on ourselves 😊
Whether you enjoy BMTH's music or not, whether you like the newer stuff or not, you can't deny this dude is amazing, he's a real artist and such a down to earth and intelligent person. I love how open he is about all the darker stuff, it's so important and helps heal others. It's no wonder BMTH are becoming one of the biggest bands in the world.
They probably already are the biggest. I know that wasn’t your main point but you left me thinking… Which rock/metal/loud band is bigger than BMTH right now? Måneskin? I hope not lol
it’s nice to hear Oli carefully explaining in his own words what happened with Jordan, rather than see him quoted in one sentence and not knowing if the quote is true etc. Great interview
like slipknot lol
glad I saw them live with Jordan amazing show really
Timestamp?
@@kevinkenobipius1557 he talks about Jordan from 21:20
I met Oli walking around the beach in Scarborough a few years ago and, even though he was with his wife and friends, he stopped for a photo and a chat and he’s the most down to earth “famous” person I’ve ever met. A real gent. New album rocks too! 🤘🏻
what a weird place to see Oli haha
Apparently he was there for the drummer Matts wedding if you want the inside scoop haha
Do u mean Scarborough which is in Ontario, Canada?
@@alexdarsuiev North Yorkshire, England actually.
I saw him in Bridlington in about 2015 😂
i feel like just letting Oli talk is the best tactic while interviewing him, but the questions were also so good and so important, great journalism, Andrew!
i genuinely could listen to him talk for hours and never get tired. his explanations of the songs are incredible and make them so much more powerful. i really appreciate whenever he dives deeper not only into the meanings of the songs, but also just how we as humans with intense emotions operate; he struggles with his own battles, and it gets really fucking heavy, but he knows it’ll be okay eventually. he knows the journey to feeling content with life isn’t short or easy in the slightest, and going back into bad habits is so so easy, but he knows what he wants, and learns more about himself everyday with the self help he practices. it helps inspire me to try to find myself and figure out what I need to be happy; but accepting who you are is such an important first step and i’m really glad he made a point to single it out and give attention to it. hope he’s able to relax a bit more now that the album’s out. and i hope the next one isn’t rushed out or as stressful; they’re making art and i’ll wait as long as it takes to hear more
He sounds like a mong though
im genuinely proud of oli for what he represents and chooses to put out there. I got emotional when he started talking about hearing both sides, not blaming victims for existing and seeking a way of understanding on the path to just coexist happily. I really needed to hear something coherent and genuine after what has been happening to us as a society lately. good on him for finding such joy and peace in his art. good time to be a metalcore fan.
love that this album is literally a medical kit for the younger generations or anyone who wants to look at their troubled existence
I firmly believe BMTH could do an entire solo headlining tour. Sell it out and easily have 3 hours of bangers and show.
Absolutely, their live shows are incredible. I've seen over a hundred bands but BMTH is always near the top.
Bmth eras tour? 🤔
No vocalist wants to sing 3 hours night to night. Take it from one lol.
They could, but as @bstrick said, I doubt it's something they'd wanna do. Only if it were one or only a few shows, proper spread out.
@@bratondoney8381🤯🤯🤯 brother… you need to email their management ASAP!
Oli will be 40 relatively soon, holy crap that makes me feel old.
What a great interview. So nice to hear Oli just talk.
You can so tell this was a "bands album"
Lees riffs are absolute fire. So many different influences, so dynamic
ehm... 80% was written by jordan but ok ... next album will be interesting
It really breaks my heart seeing so many people write hateful comments about the new album when it’s about the personal struggles Oli has had with addiction and literally wanting to be dead. Ok, so you like the older BMTH better. We love that for you because most BMTH fans love the older content too. If that’s more your style, just go listen to that and remember that Oli is part of the reason those masterpieces exist. He still deserves respect, as does the entire band. These are real people who don’t need to be insulted on the internet just because their art doesn’t meet someone’s expectations. If it doesn’t resonate with you, it’s not for you.
At 52, I can honestly say that there are not many bands out there that truly hold my interest, devotion or respect to anywhere near the same level as BMTH do. 4 humble, normal lads from Sheffield, and Oli who is a true inspiration. Loving this new album which is on constant repeat. Great to see how far Oli has come and really enjoyed the extra insights in the interview. Hoping for many more years of creativity and self discovery. I will be on the journey with you x
Really love this guy. Phenomenal human being. God tier vocalist.
Ngl, i was kinda worried of Oli's mental health considering the lyrics of Nex Gen and what happened with Chester Bennington, but i'm glad he seems so level-headed and composed. I hope Oli stays with us for a very long time cooking banger music
I have followed the group since I was 15, currently at 32 I literally realize that I spent my most difficult years at their side. I completely understand what Oliver is saying, is it a superpower that we fans have? haha
Jordan was a beautiful collision and contributed incredible things, but stars do not stay together and their light is only a reflection of what they were.
Its important to know how to recognize when your path begins to go somewhere else, look back, take your things lighter and be able to go where you belong...
SAME! I'm also 32 and have been a fan since 16 and love them even more with every new release. It's great seeing how it's possible to let go of destructive behaviour and try to be better every day.
Same here. 32. Been in love with them since 18, in There Is a Hell era, and I absolutely feel like the band is Oli, Matt, Vegan and Lee.
It’s nice to see oli so comfortable, so glad he seems to be doing well after everything
I really hope Oli and Jordan work together again one day... But I'm also excited to see how Spiritbox, Architects, and the entire Metalcore scene improves with Jordan's vision.
this interview is so satisfying to watch. oli the high five tattoo is iconic!
Shut up
The explanation of the ‘controversial’ lyric in A bullet with my name on it is so on point and makes so much sense. I love the way Oli weaves existentialist themes through his writing.
What's the timestamp on that
I look up to oli so much. Grew up with bmth since sempiternal, seeing how much oli has grown and mature inspires me soso much
Aged yourself lol
@@ministryoftruth2869what?
Ronnie from FIR needs to take some lessons from Ollie. THIS is how a vocalist/band member should act. The band isn’t about one person. So much respect to Ollie.
Lol shut up.
Radke is a child and makes terrible music.
@@1hcc994being a Ronnie defender in 2024 is embarrassing as hell, pls get better

He makes good music but he ain't really the bestest of people
A very noticeable comfortably in Olivers speaking compared to most of his other interviews. I think this is partly because he is in his own space and it’s easier for him to feel in tune with his environment and less anxious. I also think Oli is growing as a person immensely. So much depth to these topics.
This is probably one of the realest interviews of anyone ever. Regardless of him or the band or even art or music in general, all the stuff he says about society and facing yourself and addictions just wow. Seriously respect the hell out of him and also NME for actually posting this.
The transformation in this guy is incredible man. As a person and a musician.
Such an intelligent, inspirational man.
Proud of being a fan for the past 16 years.
Thank you for everything ❤
incredible interview! I have always admired how self-aware and honest and frank Oli is; his opinions on today's world are incredibly on point and I wish more people would take on the same perspective. I also really liked the way he discussed the rift with Jordan; he didn't sugarcoat it, wasn't disrespectful but honest. What a wonderfully intelligent person.
that gave a whole new look on the album for me, resonates a lot
what a man, what a talent and most of all what an angel. oli, we love you, never ever stop doing this
Oli … an absolute lLEGEND.. so raw , honest , creative and a great way of expressing those intense emotions through his work .. who could not love Oli ❤? !
Explaining this whole album and purpose behind the songs is mind blowing. And I respect Oli more and more because I feel like we all go through these emotions and this band did it justice ❤ can’t wait to see a US show
We met Oli after a BMTH show in Berlin more than a decade ago. He just casualy went out to chat and make some photos. What a down to earth, modest, very polite and respectful person he is! Beautiful soul💪♥️
It’s impressive how time passes and BMTH always finds a way to deliver different artwork that somehow stays connected to their very core, you can feel it in different ways, lyrics, production, videos, no matter what, the essence is always there and it’s nice to experience it in different forms. that’s what I love the most about them, never a dull moment.
Did anyone else cry 6 times watching this ?
Won't tell ya where and why I cried during this, but i most certainly did. Thanks NME for this very gentle interview.
To unfollow each other after a decade++ is pretty serious imo. They were my favourite writing duo. I wish them all the best and happiness
Too many blood
It’s the internet bro it’s not deep lol
@@linkgobrrr3358 Good observation. You have an acute sense of the obvious.
it's really painful when your band breaks up to see your former members posts everyday because the algorithm doesn't know that y'all split- it'll just start rubbing it in your face how good they're doing without you etc. i've been there myself. i noticed Jordan deleted his twitter when PH2 dropped and i'm not surprised at all
Hearing that Oli fell back into drugs is really heart breaking
So sad.
Great interview. Asked a lot of good questions and let Oli really go in depth with his answers. Made me realize I tend to be similar with using hobbies and work to distract myself from how I’m actually feeling and that stepping back and working on myself would probably be helpful.
Great interview! Didn't even realize when almost an hour went by
One of a kind person. What a gift to see him, hear him, listen to his music. Love you so much man 💔💙💛
This is such a great interview, I absolutely love Bring me the horizon and it's really nice hearing Oli just be able to chat and how honest he's being about everything.
He’s so thoughtful and self aware. Also, criminally underrated as a creative force. ❤
Oli really a chill guy and humble to talk with🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
absolute banger of an interview
This interview has made me cry. This man has been heavy on my heart for a long time. His emotional and mental states have been projected onto this new album and I have felt it in every single song. I love their past albums so much, but Nex Gen..... hits so hard. Oli is a beautiful human. And his life is a walking, breathing testimony that if you put the work in, you can get better. It won't be the best, but it will be better.
Waited for a new interview so badly! And we get such a beautiful one ❤ thanks
I'm new listening to them and I already love everything. It's amazing to find people who are passionate about sharing stuff and creating and all that
This was so inspiring. I wish him and the band nothing but happiness and healing! You are supported by all of us! We love you guys!❤
This is such an interesting interview, thanks NME and thanks Oli for sharing so much!
super cool interview. always awesome to hear artists thoughts unfiltered in this way
this is a lovely interview. it really is just a conversation, with oli giving some intense stories that are both relatable and some that are anecdotes from the band’s experience. he’s truly a lovely person alongside making gorgeous music
Brilliant interview, I always look forward to the new releases as much as they have changed I always appreciate what they're doing. Can't make everyone happy!
This is so vulnerable wow thank you oli
Such an in depth chat about the album, even though I'm on the discord I don't always have the time to track it all the time so this was a good catchup overview on the album!
Definitely had to take a few moments half way through as what oli spoke about just hit a lot of chords that I know the album touches on but my appreciation for this album just go that bit more deeper! And it's definitely not an album that'll wear off any time soon (not that they ever do at all?)
Thank you for this interview it was such a good listen
such a good and personal interview, absolutely loving this!!!
I loved this interview! Thanks so much
Absolutely love this interview!
Love this interview, Oli's just so innocent🖤😭
This was a great interview, appreciate that you just let him talk and fully express himself 🖤
Best interview I have seen of Oli. So much respect for him and this band. Been a followers for years and super proud. Art.
Thank you BMTH for making this record, it's absolutely amazing! I'm happy to see this healthier and wiser version of Oli x
God bless ❤
He has so much to say, love this interview and the view behind this all 🖤
Love you Oli , I resonate with so much you’re experiencing. Be kind to yourself. We’re in this ride together. So much love
I honestly have watched this interview like 5 times and I’ve learned something new every time
Fantastic interview. Simply just letting Oli talk and explain himself, his journey, his ideas, is the best possible outcome. He truly is a creative genius.
What an open, insightful, vulnerable interview ... has to be one of the most interesting ones ive ever watched damn
Such a great interview. Thank you for that💪
I absolutely LOVE this interview Oli talked about addiction beautifully and I really connect with how he talked about it. Thank you for breaking everything down! 🩶🩵
Incredible interview.
This alone increases my love and admiration for the new album
Nextgen really connected well and hit my emotions
Great interview OLI 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ohh I missed such interviews with Oli. That man is so inspiring, I love him so much. The way he combines dorkiness and intelligence. I love listening to him
This interview is awesome! Great interviewer. Oli was so receptive to everything asking and very open about what his art means and I LOVE THAT. I love learning about the depths of why the art is the way it is. It just makes it so much more meaningful.
This was such a great interview! Oli is an amazing person who clearly puts a lot of thought in his music.
GREAT interview! ❤️ I simply adore Oli. What a genuinely great human being! 🫶
Oli seems like he's in a good place lately and seems happy (at least from my uninformed opinion) I love to see it. I think BMTH is in a better place then ever & I'm so excited
Would absolutely love to see a documentary like 🖤
Such a great interview
Powerful interview
Such an amazing interview, selfishly I wish oli would do interviews like this much more regularly as obviously I love the art but I also want to get to know the artist 🖤.
This is so relatable for me and so many. Congratulations to Oli on his wisdom through healing and being selfless enough to share it.
This is so great! He really understands addiction, relapse, and recovery. Love hearing meanings of songs. Wish more bands would do that! Wonderful real life interview!❤
Love this man so much, I am also in recovery and its the hardest thing I have ever done. I got sober in 2019 right before the pandemic and I can attest that it felt a little harder than other times I tried given the circumstances. I wish Oli all the success in the world. BMTH's music has helped me through some of the worst times in my life.
This interview is amazing, Oli is a smart guy, he's speaking from the heart, in a super down to earth, chilled yet way about super serious stuff
I know now why their music speaks to me so much. The whole journey, the whole back and forth between the light and the dark within our own mind. I've gone through it, still am because fallbacks are a part of it but it's so relieving and inspiring to hear someone like Oli speak about it from such an authentic and reflected place. It's crazy to me that our human experience is so connected at times when we're all such different people. So to everybody who can relate: We will grow from going through it! Oli's journey is a great example of how much it can pay off to keep learning. ❤
Man I never thought I would cry watching an interview :*( ...but here we are
Gosh i love him and the band even more. I was hooked on everything he was saying. Great interview!
The words of a enlightened man. Bravo, Oli. As always on the side of humanity and decency! I love you for that.
Wow, at times the music over the years, now the interview reaches as well, thank you Olly
I love the new album , saw them live for my first time this year although I’ve been a fan for years but never got the chance to go and it was worth it they were incredible🙌 I really admire Oli and a great interview- especially how meaningful there songs are, battles struggles it’s so real 🙌 as someone who struggles with my mental health myself it really hits hard and it’s like the album nails it!🙌
Oli you have not done anything to anyone you are the most amazing person ever and everyone is here to support you we believe in you and you would never ever let us down you have been through a lot and most of us don't know how you feel and what you have been through and you are so strong for staying this way and doing everything you have done we are all here for you ❤
Love the Depth that Oli was willing to go into his personal feelings. He answered every question with Total transparency. I can totally relate on the sobriety journey & wish Oli the best.
i love listening to his takes on life
I'm Christian I knew there's a lot of lyrics that kind of swipe at my beliefs but it never turned me off if anything I would want them to continue doing what they feel regardless. It's amazing that he's warmed up to the idea of "Faith" and "God" hopefully it helps him through life.
Been listening since count your blessings. Much love to all
